prepare to wait a while for food, although they apologized for the 40 minute wait I think they need to communicate that things may be taking longer than anticipated. food was pretty tasty, which made the wait worth it, just was about to walk out felt like the lady who took my order was preoccupied with a couple guests

I walk in, its completely empty. I ask to dine in so I'm told to sit anywhere. Looking over the menu, 2 people come in and they're already being served water and wine. No one has come to ask me for anything, let alone water brought to table. Not sure if I should just walk out or continue waiting? Okay finally someone realized I'm sitting here staring at them. I ordered vegetarian spring rolls and pad kee mow with chicken. Luckily I had a water bottle in my bag so byow? They didnt ask spice level, so I'm just hoping it's not bland. Fingers crossed! Interior is dated, but who cares if the food is good, right? There are pictures strung up along the wall, has a very homely feeling. People have started to come in, looks like like people definitely order take out from here. They have a very very small wine list, but nice to know they do serve! Ok, so food was flavorful! Spring rolls were PIPING HOT. Too hot to eat immediately, heck even too hot by the time I was done with my noodles! They were large in size, crispy and filled with veggies. The dipping sauce was a little too tart for my liking and it didnt jive well with the spring role's flavor. The noodle portion was just right! Not really drunken as I was expecting, more on the oily side, nonetheless quite flavorful! One star off just for service being so slow and inattentive. In any case, definitely ordering from here next time!!

I got take out, it takes about 20 min for them to cook the food so I would call ahead of time. This place is a "hole in the wall", looks real ghetto outside but give it a chance! Chicken pad thai- for wilmington this place is probably the best thai food. It's in a bad neighborhood but just go before it's nightime. Thai Iced Tea- pretty good! They take card. I went after work and the place was completely empty.

    empty tables and chairs

The food is probably the best I've had outside of New York and Bangkok, but in the four times I've been here, it's gone really down hill. The food is the same. Pretty good, but three times over three weeks no Diet Coke. Then three of the four times you sit waiting for service as they are in the kitchen. Even the ladies sitting at the bar, wanting to leave had to yell out for someone to come out, even that didn't work. Writing this as I've waited 12 minutes for someone to come out to bring me a check. If you like pretty good Thai food, and have an hour or two to kill, this is the place.

I came here for lunch on a super hot summer day. Whose idea was it to go get spicy Thai food when it's 90 degrees out? But I digress ... firstly, I liked the casual but authentic feel of the décor. It wasn't necessarily fancy or well-done, but it felt homey in a good way. I've also been to Thailand and eating here felt like an authentic cultural experience. (But maybe I'm just projecting my bias and expectations onto reality?...) When our group arrived, there weren't any others in the restaurant so we expected it to be fast. We ordered two appetizers--dumplings and lettuce wraps (with the lettuce chopped up; also unexpectedly super spicy)--and that took around 30 minutes to come out. We waited another 20 minutes for our main entrees (and we had a group of 4). The quality of the food was very good. I ordered the Pad Kee Mouw (sp?) which was essentially drunken noodles, with the long and flat wide noodles with green beans, peppers, and basil. It was way spicier than I expected but the flavor was really good and the vegetables were cooked to a nice texture. It took awhile for our waitress to come back with the bill so we felt that the service wasn't great--especially considering there weren't any other people eating when we had arrived, and were only 3 other groups by the time we left. However, the food is excellent and I would definitely come back for take-out--just not necessarily the dine-in experience.

If you are craving Thai food and are in the Wilmington area, do yourself a favor and stop by Bangkok House Restaurant! We stopped by on a Saturday for lunch. Our first minutes in the restaurant was a little strange - when we stepped inside the dim, run down looking restaurant, there was no one to be seen (no customers nor workers). After walking around the restaurant in search of a living soul and saying "hello?" a couple of times, someone eventually came out and briefly acknowledged us. Although we felt like we were intruding on someone's house, we decided to seat ourselves and wait until they were ready to serve us. What they lacked in customer service was made up in the quality of their food. Their lunch specials were reasonably priced; most dishes were $10, while the shrimp dishes were $11. Each meal came with a little side of salad and thai peanut sauce. Since we were the only people in the restaurant, our food came out in a very short amount of time. We ordered the beef pad kee mao (drunken noodle) and beef pad see yew, and both were amazing in flavor. The pad kee mao was more savory, with explosions of flavor in my mouth. I spent some time in Thailand last summer, and frequently eat at Thai places in the US, and I have to conclude that this meal was one of the best Thai meals that I have eaten! The portions were rather generous as well; I could have brought half of my food home, but it was so delicious that I decided to eat the whole thing all at once. I wish that I could give them five stars based off food alone, but a lot of people do enjoy eating out to experience a fun atmosphere and good customer service. If this business can improve on those aspects, I am sure that they will be able to recruit a lot more business!

This restaurant is located in a small group of street lined businesses, with parking along the street. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating on their patio. It was a chilly day, so we opted to sit inside. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive our entire visit. We ordered the Pad Garlic and Pad King lunch specials, both with chicken and hot spice level. The lunch specials come with a salad dressed with a sweet dressing. Our food was out in record time and was piping hot, so it's definitely a spot if you are in a time crunch- hello power lunch! We both thought our dishes were packed with flavor and although they had heat, we could have went with Thai Spicy. If we were local, this would definitely be our go-to spot!

1 Star - Absolute Rip-Off. Check Your Bag Before You Leave…read more I'd give them zero stars if I could. I ordered a large Tom Kha soup with both shrimp and chicken for pickup, and apparently, "large" means "half-empty" in their kitchen. To make matters worse, they completely forgot the chicken. I paid full price for a premium, multi-protein soup and ended up with a container of half-filled broth and a couple of sad shrimp. Charging customers full price for missing ingredients and cutting corners on portion sizes is a blatant rip-off. If you're going to order from Tasty Thai, bring a measuring cup, a magnifying glass, and check your food at the counter before you walk out. Absolutely ridiculous.

It was the only one with wide noodles. Sooooo good. My friends enjoyed their food too. One got crab & shrimp fried rice, the other got the dish w the cellophane noodles and mushrooms. All the dishes had enough to take home for a second meal. It is all made from scratch and to your desired temperature, regarding spice. The actual restaurant is...quaint. it's small and clean. I don't think it would hold more than 30 ppl. The bathroom is a single and the door didn't lock for me. I just peed and prayed. Lol. Service was OK. Considering we were the only ones in the restaurant, the server seemed like he didn't want to be bothered. Food came out quickly tho. The lemon marscapone cake looked delicious, so I got one to go. Since then, I've been too many times. Food is consistently fresh, quick and delicious! Service is always mid. Try the Thai tea and mango rice... oh and the basil rice. I visited this restaurant on a Saturday around 1 PM with my cousin, and the experience was…read moreextremely disappointing from start to finish. The service was unacceptable. The server, an older woman, was consistently rude and dismissive in her behavior. While I cannot confirm intent, the interaction felt uncomfortable enough to raise concerns about whether bias may have played a role. I have rarely encountered such discourteous treatment in any restaurant. After handing us the menu, she returned to take our order. When my cousin pointed to Thai basil fried rice, she abruptly said it was only available on a different menu or day. I then pointed to "Thai basil vegetables" and asked if that referred to Thai basil fried rice, and she said yes before quickly taking the menu away without properly clarifying. When I asked whether the dish contained egg or meat, she confirmed it did not. She did not ask about water preferences and brought us warm water without ice. When the food arrived, it was not fried rice but plain white rice with vegetables. When I raised the issue, she insisted I had ordered that item. When my cousin tried to explain that he had specifically asked about Thai basil fried rice, she told him to stop speaking for me, which was highly unprofessional. What made the situation worse was that when she tried to justify the order by pointing to the menu, she was unable to locate any listing for Thai basil fried rice on that same menu, which further highlighted the confusion and lack of clarity in her explanation. Eventually, she brought the correct dish, but I noticed the incorrect item was then served to another customer, which was concerning. The portion size was also quite small, though I understand this has been mentioned in other reviews. Toward the end of the meal, she cleared the table prematurely, taking my cousin's plate while he was still eating without asking. That was the final point of frustration. Due to the overall experience, I left no tip and made that clear on the receipt. I strongly caution others to be aware of the service here. If a restaurant is not prepared to treat customers with basic respect and professionalism, it should reconsider its standards of operation.
