My wife loves Thai food and asked to come here for lunch. We went at around 2:00pm to avoid the weekday lunch crowd. We started with the fresh spring rolls which were pretty good. My wife ordered the Salmon Chu Chee while I had the shrimp green curry. Both dishes were really tasty, the salmon was pan fried crispy on the outside & moist on inside & the sauce complimented it well. I thought the green curry was rich in flavor and had some sweetness to it. We also ordered shrimp pad Thai to share.... It's a must order dish when at a Thai restaurant, right? The pad Thai was also pretty good but was a tad too sweet for my taste. Overall, if I'm in the area and craving for Thai food, this would be the restaurant to go (it also doesn't hurt to be next door to Cravings, my go to for Taiwanese beef noodle soup!) read more

Been going here since the 90s. Always great food and service. My favourite staples are nuea yang (beef strip salad), yum coocheang (sausage salad). All the curries are great. We now live in Chi and sometimes would crave for those salad and make a trip. I haven't found those salad anywhere else in the city. read more

located right on Main Street in Geneva, the place is not impressive at first. But the service is prompt and the food is outstanding. We had four different dishes and each was done perfectly and with the amount of "heat" you want. I have had good Thai food many times, but this place is a cut above all of them. WOW, can't believe the good reviews for this place! Tried it for the first time and the place smells. Not like Thai spice but like a dirty, musty carpet. Then we received a wrong order that had beef instead of chicken. Asked for the red curry to be made SPICY and when received it was as bland as milk. I don't even think the curry sauce was made from scratch. Lastly, overheard a customer tell her friends, "don't judge this place by the washroom, OK?" That tells you all you need to know! This is my favorite Thai restaurant anywhere. We are regulars at this place. It's just the best Thai food in the area. It's a small place, mom and pop. The owners are so gracious. Seating is limited so make a reservation on the weekends. It's BYOB which is a plus for us. My favorites are the curries, but other fam favorites are #47 meat with cashews and peppers and #23 spicy fried rice. If you eat in, get #35 deep fried whole snapper. This place is the best on the area for Thai food PERIOD. There is absolutely no debate on the quality and taste of the food being number one. It is definitely a family owned and operated business that has been in the heart of Geneva for as long as I can remember. I love Thai food but even if you don't it is well worth the stop. Last time I went they were still only doing carry out which is fine the food taste great whether you eat it there or somewhere else. Number 23 fried rice with basil and chicken is beyond heavenly, I guarantee you will love it. If you were in Geneva Bangkok is definitely a must to stop at and enjoy a meal read more

Ordered take out from this place recently. All of the items we ordered were lacking in flavor. The fried rice dishes literally had white rice throughout and not properly fried or mixed in. Three stars only because the owners were nice and the food seemed freshly prepared. From a taste standpoint, a lot of opportunity for improvement. If bland to light flavor is your thing, you'll probably consider this the best 'Thai food' you've ever had like some reviewers have said. I've been to number of Thai restaurants in the city, and by far Bangkok has the best Thai food I've ever had. The problem. I have with Thai food is that it's too sweet. Their food is probably the only place where I didn't feel that way. The pad thai was best I had (not too wet, not too dry), green curry was light and fragrant, perfect over rice. We ordered few things we've never tried and every thing was outstanding. Make sure to try their hot chili sauce. It's spicy and tangy, perfect with all of their dishes. The owners are so friendly and you can tell most customers are regulars. I can't see how someone can only coming here once. I'll have to make a trip out here just for this... wish this was closer to the city :( read more

This review is based on my take-out order of Pad Thai. Upon entering, I noticed two ladies that work there watching a portable tv very loud & in a different language (that would have annoyed me if I was dining in). Remember the movie Mars Attacks where the martians cackle way too loud? "Rack, rack, rack, RAACK?" That's what it sounded like as I waited for my food. No other patrons were in there. My food was ready in under 15 minutes. I didn't have enough cash with me & tried to use my debit card. Nope....not unless I was spending at least $15. Great. I had to go to the car & scrape up all the random loose change (I swear that sh*t only happens to me). And yes, I paid her in nickels. Food Blah. It was given to me in a typical Chinese food container...awkward for Pad Thai; it's best served in a rectangular box so all the items start out separate & one can mix as desired. I have no idea what the sauce normally is called that is used in Pad Thai, but their sauce was not up to par. I'm used to it tasting more on the sweeter side, but this was kind of chalky. The noodles were thinner than normal & over-cooked (thus sticking together). Of all the wonderful foodie places in Geneva, I had to pick this one. Damnit. Hands down our favorite restaurant in the history of ever. We've relocated to Canada recently and always make plans to visit whenever we're in town. I've searched high and low to find thai food of a similar quality literally everywhere else -- and all we've gotten in return is weird potato curry, sticky rice, and disappointed stomachs. The staff here is amazing. They are some of the kindest, hardest working, and most conscientious people around. I feel at home when I come to Bangkok Thai because they make me feel like extended family. It's a small location, but still has plenty of room for groups. It's definitely a hidden gem and the highlight is the service and incredible (and consistent) quality of the food. I've taken my friends and family here and we even joke about having them cater our wedding (or are we joking? I'm never quite sure). I could live off their yellow curry (Gang Ga-Ree Gai) happily for the rest of my life, and I've never made anything half-as good as their basil fried rice (Kao Pahd Bai Gra Praw) in my kitchen. I can't describe what makes it so great, but I'm going to try. I've had curries from about 50 thai restaurants in locations all over the world, and nothing comes close to how great their curries are (I've had them all, but yellow is my trusty favorite). It has a perfect balance of sweet and spicy, and it is savory without being dense. It smells great, looks great, and is full of flavor. The same can be said for the fried rice. We've also had the thai egg rolls, chicken satay, thai iced tea(!), and a few of the noodle dishes. Everything we've ever had at Bangkok Thai has been 5-star worthy in my book, and all at a fraction of the price that you'll pay for lesser-quality thai food at other restaurants. We go to/get take-out from Bangkok Restaurant quite a bit. The food is average - it won't knock your socks off with its deliciousness, but it can satisfy your craving for Thai food. The menu features a good many options, including Tod mun Pla (fish cakes) which can be a bit tricky to find in these parts (that includes Chicago as well). I enjoy their soups very much and would recommend both the Tom Yum Goong and Tom Ka Gai. However, their Pad Thai is a bit lacking in flavor, and makes me long for Ma and I in the South Loop. As some reviewers have noted, the ambiance at this restaurant is seriously lacking. It feels like a hole in the wall, which can make you unnecessarily question the cleanliness of the restaurant. Quite often, an older woman sits at the front of the restaurant watching movies and television programs loudly (in Thai). I wish they would take a cue from Bien Trucha or Chez Moi, both of which understand the concept of theme decor. That being said, if you're looking for Thai food, Bangkok Thai is probably as good as you're going to get in the suburbs. read more

Bangkok Thai is a BYOB restaurant located right in down town Geneva. There Chicken Pad Thai is my favorite item on their menu. I usually order it spicy. Their Tom Yum soup is consistently good too. I usually order it with chicken instead of shrimp. I would like to see more colorful options on their menu like Szechwan chicken (a Thai dish loaded with carrots and bright peppers). read more
