Ordered GrubHub from here today because I have been on a banh mi sandwich kick lately. I tried the Chicken sandwich without jalapeno and extra butter. The bread was a little dry on the ends, so it was crunchier in parts than I had hoped for but the flavor of the chicken was really good! The crispy egg rolls were SO delicious... Just tried this place for the first time. Very clean and nice inside. I placed a Togo order, it came out pretty quickly given how busy it was. The bánh mì hit the spot. Also tried the egg rolls and crab Rangoon. I enjoyed watching how this place ran while I was waiting. They work as a team, dirty plates are cleared, and no one is standing around. Pho Ly restaurant is located in downtown St. Charles. It's nice that we don't have to go to the city to have some good Vietnamese food. I like to order a large bowl of pho with steak, brisket and tripe. It's very delicious. I have also ordered the banh mi sandwiches, hu tieu and rice vermicelli. I will have to come back and try other dishes. The restaurant is clean, there are many tables. The staff is so nice and they answer all your questions about the menu. The service is quick. My wife and I have been coming here for quite some time now and it has been amazing every time! The phở broth is always on point and I'm one of those that don't like to add hoisin and sriracha in the broth. I like to add them on a side dish to dip my meat in. I will add the basil, bean sprouts, lime juice and jalapeños in the soup, however. One of the ladies that work there (not sure if it's the wife or owner) is always so nice to us and welcomes us whenever we come in. The service is always great too. Not much to complain about. The place is always very quiet even though the restaurant is pretty spacious. It's also very clean and they are quick to buss tables as soon as customers are done. Just a quick review to say that this place has some great spring rolls for a great price. Was passing some time at the Antique Market tucked off Main St and was feeling a little hungry so I decided to check out what was open nearby and saw the sign for Pho Ly. I decided some spring rolls should be able to hold me over so I headed there. The interior of the restaurant is a good size with a nice amount of tables. It was clean and quiet with a small bar near the entrance and some festive holiday decoration too. The staff were friendly and attentive offering me a table at first and then being happy to let me place a to-go order at the counter. They told me the rolls should be ready in a few minutes so I said I would be right back and went to grab some things from Rocket Fizz. When I came back my order was ready and I was so hungry that I ended up just eating them in the car on the way to my next appointment. They tasted good with nice sized shrimp and the fillings inside were fresh. The next time I'm in St Charles I will strongly consider giving more of Pho Ly's menu a try. read more

Great pho place in St Charles and probably the best in the Fox River area. The broth tasted authentic, flavorful, and clean. The meat was high quality, including the meatballs which some place would use lower quality ones that have a lot of filler and fat. Service was prompt and friendly in an open interior. The inside doesn't smell like the kitchen so you can leave without carrying the pho odor all day. Highly recommend. read more

We just stumbled on the place one Friday evening and we're very pleasantly surprised. I fresh a new interior ,extremely nice staff and a full menu. We were just eating light for dinner and tried the rolls in the bahn mi . Very tasty. We aren't experts on bahn mi by any stretch, but it seemed to be a bit of a different meat style than we're used to, but the sandwich was still very delicious. The bread was baked that day and perfect. I really can't wait to go back to try other things. I think they're trying to get their liquor license but for now it's BYOB. read more

Alas, St. Charles has got itself an AMAZING Vietnamese spot! Pho Ly had caught my eye as I was driving on main street and I had to stop by and give it a try. I brought my sister with, and we set out on our first foodie venture at this spot. My sister ordered the combination fried rice, and I had ordered the tofu vermicelli noodles along with a taro smoothie with Boba. Everything was freshly made, delicious, well, seasoned, and incredibly enjoyable. Staff was incredibly kind and attentive. As far as the space goes, it is an open space, well lit, and modern spot. Highly enjoyable and comfortable seating. We will definitely be returning to this spot to try out more things on the menu. From a firsthand recommendation and their great reviews, we decided to try the authentic Vietnamese chow at Pho Ly on 64 in St Charles. Parking is on municipal lot(s) near the restaurant. They've been open just over a year. The atmosphere is casual. The service is outstanding. The bar is beer & wine. We had "Spicy Lemongrass Chicken", a rice/ vermicelli bowl and their crab rangoon for an appetizer. The chicken was definitely spiced up with nice chilis. Discovered this hidden gem of a Vietnamese Pho spot on Main Street. Tried spring rolls, special banh mi, and the special pho - and it was a delightful experience! Pho had a rich beef flavor, abundant meat, and generous condiments. The only thing I would say and it's very minor is that I wished the Banh mi French bread would be light and airy (it was dry), but the flavors were top-notch. I came in for lunch on a Sunday with a friend and we were able to be seated right away. It was more empty at 11:30am, but it started filling up quickly shortly after. We got the Egg Rolls to start. They came out pretty quickly. The egg rolls were crispy, just how I like them! I ordered the Bo Bun Hue. I guess I was used to other places asking if I wanted the boiled blood, but Pho Ly includes it by default. Other than forgetting to ask to exclude that, I really enjoyed my meal! This place is easily my new favorite local Vietnamese spot! The interior is very bright and clean and the service deserves a round of applause. There are a few parking spots right next to the side door but there is also free parking behind the gas station that is super convenient. I LOVE spring rolls and these did not disappoint. They tasted so fresh and the peanut sauce was absolutely perfect! We also got the fried tofu appetizer and vegetarian pho. I wasn't a huge fan of the fried tofu but the pho was perfect. My new fav for Vietnamese food! The foods are simple but delicious and well seasoned! Usually have Pho, beef and shrimp are my favs but hubs loves the fried rices. Do yourself a big favor and get spring rolls-perfection! And the best part, it's quite reasonable. We can eat like kings there for under $40! Went to Pho Ly on Sunday, June 4th as a last minute decision to have a late lunch early dinner. We arrived to an empty restaurant and were told by our waitress & hostess that we could pick our table. For our appetizers we ordered Spring Rolls (our favorites) they arrived quickly and were delicious. Fir our main entrées were ordered one small steak pho & one large steak pho, with a one hot tea & one iced tea. Since Pho Ly opened up in St.Charles it has become our go to restaurant for great pho. My friend and I ate her on a weekday evening and had a lovely time. We started with beverages off their specialty beverages menu. My friend had the mango fruit tea with popping boba (her first-ever try) and loved it. I had the brown sugar milk tea with tapioca and it was good as well, though I've had a better version elsewhere. For our entrees, I got the special banh mi- something I've seen on a lot of cooking shows but had never tried. I enjoyed the sandwich. The bread was perfectly crispy, and I loved the pickled veg on the sandwich as well. It did not come with any sides, but I still felt full at the end. My friend got the veggie pho- she ordered a large and it was huge! She loved it as her first pho. In total our meal cost about $15 which was very reasonable. Our server was kind and attentive, he understood we were visiting and gave us space to do this. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very nice- they've updated some of the space from the previous owners but left some of the charm that made me love that place. I heard about a new Pho place in the area and I had to check it out! On Fridays I will usually treat myself out for lunch and check out a new restaurant and this was my chance to visit Pho Ly. I make my way to Pho Ly and parking can be very very tricky as they are right on Main St. and there's no parking in front of the restaurant, so you will need to plan accordingly. This made my experience at Pho Ly rather cumbersome as I didn't know where to park! It was only after I arrived at the restaurant that there is a sign that says "parking in the rear" but it's camouflaged by the grand opening sign. I make my way into the restaurant and it's rather weird that the door awning is in the inside part of the restaurant. Usually this awning is on the outside in the entry way of the restaurant. It makes the restaurant look tacky and weird by having this huge awning in the middle of the front part of the restaurant...weird. As I get inside there are 3 other people just standing around and I'm standing around and we're waiting to be seated. Weird. After a few seconds a gentlemen greets us and I head to my table and I'm handed the menu. I do a quick scan of the menu and the very first thing I notice is that they are selling appetizer chicken wings for $13.99! I was shocked, appalled, and quite frankly I contemplated getting up and just walking out of the restaurant because of how absurd charging $13.99 for appetizer chicken wings was! YIKES. I knew I wanted the pho and I can tell you that I've eaten at all the Pho restaurants in the area, Pho95 and Pho Xich Lo Geneva. I went with the pho special and they provided me with some ice water. As I sat there taking in the environment I still couldn't get over how much those chicken wings were. Also you get your choice of two sizes for Pho, either the medium size for $14.99 or the large for $15.99. I'm the old school way of thought and a lunch time pho should never cost more than $15 period and Pho Ly just made the cut by 1 cent. My pho arrived in no time and on to the review! I break my pho reviews up into 4 separate parts starting with the broth. It's my core value in that if you don't have good broth then you don't have good pho. The broth is the most important part of this noodle dish. I take my first sip of broth and I can honestly say that it's the best tasting broth out of the three pho restaurant in the area. It's clear, flavorful, and seasoned just right. Next up were the noodles and I honestly didn't really care for the noodles. I'm not sure if they used fresh rice noodles or it was dryed and rehydrated rice noodles but it was just OK. It was missing the fresh chewy texture that you get from fresh rice noodles. Next up is the protein in the dish and this was very lacking for me. Per their menu the Pho Special includes sliced steak, flanks, beef brisket, soft tendon, tripe and meatballs. Yes, they include these different meats but man did they provide the bare minimum besides the slice steak, which is the cheapest cut. It felt like I was searching for the proteins and for $14.99 they could have provided a bit more. Last were the toppings and everything was fresh, from the bean sprouts to the lime, to the thai basil. Overall, this place was average at best and will not blow your socks off. You're not going to be hyping this place up to your family and friends. I'd be interested to see what sucker ends up spending $13.99 for some appetizer wings, hopefully they write a review about them and post pictures because I most certainly will not be ordering these wings. read more

I called in my order and my grilled pork banh mi (#13) no jalapeños, was ready in 10 min. It was delicious. This sandwich has it all - crusty bread; savory meat; tangy, slightly sweet and crunchy pickled daikon and carrots; and fresh cilantro. It was exactly what I was looking for.
