The service is great the food was hot and the to go portions were full and not skimpy as it tends to be with do many other restaurants in the area. I can't speak to ambiance too much, I haven't dined in, but it looks clean comfortable and casual. The most important thing is the food-so let's get to it. Amazing food! We got massaman curry, #32 (basil fried rice - can't remember the Thai name), and spring rolls with sweet chili sauce. We got both chicken and veggie options. We liked how the veggie options didn't simply exclude the meat but included additional types of vegetable/mushroom/egg. Everything was savory, hot, delicious, large portions, and reasonably priced. Service was kind and quick. The only critique is that they checked on us so many times that we felt a bit rushed, haha. The restaurant doesn't look like much from the outside but the inside is nice-looking and comfortable. Definitely will be going back! read more

We asked if we could get it exchanged so she took away the wrong order and gave us the fried tofu. When the bill arrived, we were surprised to see sweet and sour tofu in the bill. We asked about it and were told that since the order was 'already made', they would still charge us the higher price of the wrong item while giving us the lesser cost item. For real?! We ordered so many items too, not just a 1 item each that our bill totaled nearly $100. This just leave a bad taste in the mouth for us. It's a disgusting trick in treating their customers. Started with fresh rolls they come with 3 rolls so we had 2 chicken 1 shrimp. Nice to be able to choose since I wanted shrimp n hubby wanted chicken. Also had a papaya salad, unfortunately not as good as others as it wasn't freshly grated as they are best fresh. For lunch I had the red curry with beef and it was slightly bland like it needed fish sauce or some or it was too watery. Hubby had the basil chicken stir fry Ka pra, the sauce was excellent. Consistently authentic, well prepared, delicious Thai cuisine! The absolute best I've had in the Hampton Roads area with quality of food comparable to what you'd get in Thailand, if not better! I've only ordered delivery, so cannot comment on the restaurant itself. But, delivery has always been timely and the food still hot when it arrived. I've had too many different dishes to identify individually, but all have been outstanding in taste and quality. Prices are reasonable and portions on the large side so always enough leftovers for another meal. This location used to be Aloha Hawaiian BBQ, but it recently opened as a Thai restaurant. I came in on a whim and the flavor did not disappoint. My pad si ew came with a salad. I always love Thai salads because of how refreshing they are with their ginger dressing. The noodle dish itself was delightful. The broccoli, egg, and sauce comes together so well with the meat and flat noodles. Along with the main entree, I ordered the coconut soup. It's always made so perfectly. Good for a sick day or just for a flavor party on your tastebuds. I always order a Thai iced tea whenever I come in. The large cup comes at a reasonable price. It beats going to a boba shop. I called the restaurant on a Tuesday at 7pm and the lady on the phone was pleasant and quick to take my order. I ordered Chicken Pad Kee Mao with extra chicken. She let me know that my food will be ready in 10 minutes and I instantly drive over to pick up my food. I was greeted immediately and assisted with my take out order. This was ready to go and packed neatly in the bag for me to grab. They also included chopsticks, a fork, and napkins, which is nice because I forgot to ask about any dining utensils. I love Thai food and always looking to try new places. It was exciting that this place opened up in the Tidewater area. The Pad Kee Mao was delicious and had a little kick on spice that did not make the dish bland. I always think it's better to dine in instead of take out, however the noodles were not too dry and had a mix of the vegetables for my to go order. I'm glad I ordered extra chicken, because I think it would have been a little sparse with a regular portion without ordering extra meat for myself personally. Overall, I would come back to Bangkok Thai for my quick fix on Thai food cravings. Bangkok Garden is our usual go-to, for 3 decades now, but Yelp pulled up a place with a similar, but different name, and closer to us, so we gave it a go. Small and quaint inside, looked cozy and nice. We started with the pot of chicken coconut soup. We love this stuff, all of us, and it did not disappoint. It was very good. I got a noodle vege chicken dish that was spicy and pretty good. The 15yo got Pad Thai. 14yo got a large bowl of beef noodle soup. My wife wasn't too hungry and just sampled all of ours. The kids both report they really liked their meals. The portions were adequate for sure, but slightly smaller than Bangkok Garden. That is the only reason for 4/5 stars. Portion=value, and value is king in 2023 and this economy. We will definitely go back. read more

This is a small restaurant that looks unassuming from the outside, however they serve authentic thai cuisine with an exceptional dining experience. There is plenty of tables for and a bar area. I visited around 4pm and it was nearly empty. I ordered a thai iced coffee, pad kee mao, and pumpkin curry with chicken. The thai iced coffee was wonderfully smooth, and lightly sweetened; it came in a large glass that was enough for nearly 2 glasses full. The pumpkin curry was not too spicy, and the spice can be adjusted(i chose Spicy, but there are two more levels above that, with the highest being Thai Spicy). It had chunks of pumpkin and vegetables in the rich curry, and came with rice. The pad kee mao was very well seasoned and tasty, i would recommend these dishes if you have trouble deciding on a dish. Next time id be happy to try the pad thai. The server was great, very respectful and food was brought out very quickly. Great experience!! read more

Super fresh and very well seasoned, with generous portions. The Shrimp were large and tasted great. I will get this again. The Pad Kee Mao was very good and thank you for using the real wide flat brown noodles! A lot of the Thai places are using the pasta size noodles and that's just wrong. The Papaya Salad was definitely American style but it still tasted okay. I asked for spicy but it was not spicy which is my only complaint. Oh...and it's on the sweet side which is not my thing. Really great addition to my neighborhood, which really didn't have any Asian restaurants outside of Chinese takeout. I was really impressed with their menu, it had a lot of variety, including some items I had never seen before. One was the Laab, it was ground beef with red onion and carrot, seasoned with lime juice, chiles, and garlic. It was delicious, definitely Thai, but with a hint of middle eastern flavors too. Also ordered the pad prick chicken, a more typical stir fry that was executed very well, and also very tasty. We ordered the laab medium and the pad hot, and both were perfect, spicy without being overpowering. If you're looking to be overpowered, Thai hot and crazy hot are also listed as options on the menu. The service was friendly and attentive, despite being very busy also. Hands down best Thai I have had since moving to Norfolk. The staff is always friendly and very helpful. Even over the phone when I put in to go orders they are so sweet. It's never busy inside, which is shocking because it really is great Thai. I have tried their green, red, and pumpkin curry. Do yourself a favor, GET THE PUMPKIN CURRY!
