Came with family for lunch on a Sunday and it was empty. Walked in and stood there for a minute and someone eating on the corner table told us to sit anywhere. A waitress appeared out of nowhere to serve us and took our orders. All of a sudden another waitress comes out to sweep the floors while we were eating our salads and I thought that was pretty rude. You had all this time before a customer comes in and you start sweeping while were eating. The food was good, lunch portions and price was decent. Kids chicken fried rice, small Tom Yum shrimp soup but the shrimp was tough and had a very strong taste, pad woon Sen with pork, pad see ew with tofu and vegetables, fried tempura tofu and a side salad. Good place for vegans since they have a section on the menu. The tips were added to the total after the taxes were added so be aware. Getting a waitresses attention was hard since they were on the other side of the wall eating their lunch and on their phones. First time trying this place. I thought the chicken Pad Thai was very good (5 stars). Had a good amount of sauce to noodles and I thought the sauce was delicious. It was a little unusual because it had a lemon wedge instead of a lime wedge, but I thought it was very tasty. I also got a chicken green curry, which I thought was just okay (2.5 stars). I didn't like the green peas in it, which I think detracted from the flavor. Definitely prefer the dish to have eggplant instead. Priced reasonably at lunch time with decent portions, everyone was very satisfied. I got red curry with chicken, fresh rolls, and a Thai iced tea. The red curry was spicy and rich with an excellent flavor. The fresh rolls were gorgeous to look at (pretty nice to eat, too) and the Thai tea was made fresh at time of pick-up. The staff were very polite and courteous. My only word of advice is to update the website... for the curry there was no option to pick your protein. I wish the curry was a little thicker. But overall really good taste. The eggplant spicy is just like krapao, but with added eggplant. It was a good taste with the basil, but it had a little too much sauce. I wish the krapao had ground meat rather than cut/sliced meat. The papaya salad was tasty with a hint of spice. They give a salad before your meal. Service was okay, it wasn't super busy but they still seemed rushed. Otherwise they were nice and considerate. This place will always be my go to Thai place in Chesapeake, VA. They were my first place I ever tried Thai cuisine and where I fell in love with it. I don't have a favorite dish since I've tried them all and loved them but when I'm ready to wind down, I always go for the Drunken Noodles with Tofu. Simple dish that is nicely filling and perfect amount of spice. The portion sizes here feel like it hit a sweet spot of just perfect. Not too much but definitely not too little. The pricing is average, except Thai Tea can be a little more on the pricier side than what I usually pay in Richmond, but it is definitely worth it because the cups are large. The employees make the experience 10x better because when they start to recognize you they just already know your order. I quite enjoy my bond with them and I miss going in. Inside the dining room is very nice and perfect amount of space between tables. I love the booths by the mirror but all of the spots are peak. read more

Absolutely love this restaurant. We wanted to try somewhere other than our normal Thai spot, which had never "wow-ed" us... but the minute we tried a bite of Racha, it became our new fav! So far we've only done takeout, and every time it's been phenomenal. When I went in today to pick it up, I was just really stunned by the customer service. The employees were conversing with regulars as if they were old friends, it was really neat. On top of that, the ambiance of the place literally makes you feel like you're in Thailand. The statues, photos, and wooden everything just takes me back to Thailand. This is a really authentic place, so glad we found it. read more

I had an easy 5 Star lunch here on Saturday afternoon. I stopped in here with a good friend of mine that enjoys some Thai food. He mentioned that no one in his family liked Thai food but him, so even better. I started my meal off with the salad that came with the entre along with some fresh rolls I had added on the side. Their were 3 fresh rolls in appetizer and they were made with chicken (also available with shrimp), lettuce, carrot, noodle, and basil wrapped with rice skin. I finished the small salad and 1 fresh roll. Then the entre arrived. For my meal I ordered Pad Priew Wan which is the following. Stir fried onion, cucumber, red and green bell pepper, baby corn, pineapple, garlic, tomato and sweet and sour sauce. My protein with this was also chicken. This also comes with jasmine rice. This was deceptively filling. When they brought out the plate I thought it seemed kind of small but once I mixed everything together it was a smorgasbord of deliciousness!!! I also enjoyed my second fresh roll with the entre. I took the third one home. Service was impeccable. Our server was friendly and very attentive and also very knowledgeable of the product. The spring rolls were delicious and the dipping sauce was excellent. Lunch came with a small side salad and a fried spring roll. That was basic but also pretty good. The pad see ew noodles were overcooked and a little gelatinous but still tasted good. The red curry was a little overly salty but still flavor was nice and the tofu was perfectly lightly fried. Yeah, tonight wasn't a good night. Tonight we selected your restaurant to celebrate my mom's birthday. It was my suggestion. She and I have eaten here before. But my brother and brother in law haven't so it was going to be their first experience. I waited all week to eat the Kang Massaman, so I ordered that. My family ordered and got their dishes while I hadn't gotten mine. Time went by and we eventually had to ask a waitress to check on it. She got back and said they were working on it. A few minutes later we had to check again. Almost done. This time I told her to pack it up for take out because I didn't have time anymore to eat. My family was done eating their entrees and our evening was complete. I was so dismayed that the idea of eating something I had been craving all week just didn't interest me anymore. I feel like the bad apple amongst many other good reviews. Maybe it was just that I didn't order the right thing. I dunno... I will probably go back with the hubs, just to give them a chance to justify their overall 4.5 stars on different entrees. Seriously, I feel like I did something wrong! I stopped in last night to pick up some take out for dearest daughter and myself - girls night! I got there a few minutes before it was scheduled to be ready and, at just after 5pm, the place was relatively busy for a weeknight. Also a good sign, right? I ordered an app and entree through the website - fresh summer rolls with chicken and pad priew wan with chicken. I LOVE summer rolls and my favorite are found at Tida Thai - with fresh basil, juicy chicken, carrots and rice noodles, what's not to love? These were so far from what I qualify as delicious. They were overwhelmingly noodle (you can see in my 2nd photo that I had to pull a bunch out) and the chicken was so DRY, I could barely chew it. I actually had to text my hubby (who I will note was eating way better than I was out with his friends!) just to whine about my dinner. I get so excited for Thai, because we get it so infrequently and I was so utterly disappointed. The priew wan didn't measure up either. The portion size for the price was horrible - lots of sauce, lots of veggies, very little chicken. The veggies were well cooked and the sauce was delicious but, again, the small amount of chicken I did get was so overcooked. It was also lacking the tomato. Fortunately, my daughter liked it. I had gotten something that I knew she could handle (peppers, onions, baby corn and pineapple - all favorites), so that was the only saving grace. That, and the service was great upon my visit in. I appreciate that they are taking Covid precautions with signage and staff wearing masks appropriately. I am hopeful that my next trip will measure up a bit more, but that trip will not be in the near future and that really bums me out! read more

Really enjoyed this Thai restaurant! Finally found a Thai place in the area with great food and really nice variety aside from the usual standard dishes! The location is unassuming but inside is really lovely and inviting. The wait staff was friendly and very attentive, and service was fast! I arrived for lunch and had wanted to try their duck that I saw a picture of in Yelp; it's on their dinner menu. It was pricey so I thought maybe I'll do that for a dinner another time. :) Instead, I opted for their pumpkin curry with chicken (again, from their dinner menu). Don't be afraid to ask for the dinner menu; it is available for lunch too! But be warned, the portion is larger (not a bad thing!) and prices probably a bit higher. I ordered more than I needed but I wanted to try some different things, and leftovers are never an issue, when good! They brought out a free appetizer of a small salad and a spring roll which was very nice. Then my tom yum goong soup. It was pretty good, sour, but also had another spice in it that was flavorful, but I couldn't name it. I ordered a tasty Thai iced tea that arrived in a giant beer mug. I also ordered a green papaya salad. This was pretty good, but I have noted that the green papaya salads I've had in the area so far, all seem to be shredded a bit thin. I actually like a little more thickness to it. The waitress asked if medium spicy was ok. I said sure. I will say it was a nice steady burn, but not uncomfortable. Maybe mild would be better though, next time! Lol. The flavor was good and I liked the fresh small tomatoes in it. It was not dry but a bit more wet/limp. Thus why a thicker shred would probably hold up nicer for crunch. Then the pumpkin curry! First off, it was a large bowl! They told me it's a dinner portion. Ah, need to remember next time, but I'm not complaining, because it was so good! I love pumpkin and it was a pleasant surprise and unusual to see it offered. I think it was kabocha, which I love! Also, the curry was a nice creamy consistency and really flavorful, with some sweetness. Finally, I had the sticky rice with mango dessert. Again, this portion was a large size. It could easily feed 2 people as well as maybe a child! They sprinkled toasted mung bean on top. Really delicious! Everything about the meal was wonderful. They have so many other dishes I want to try (especially that duck in curry sauce!) and they were quick and food was delicious. I only wish in dishes where they use broccoli, they used Chinese broccoli. I wanted to try drunken noodles but don't love American broccoli in Asian dishes if I can avoid it. Just my personal preference. My husband had all the leftovers and I was a little upset he ate it ALL, but couldn't blame him. Prices are higher for dinner menu and things like duck, of course, but they have lunch portion I assume on their lunch menu. I felt for the quality and portions, it was worth the prices! read more

Saturday Date Lunch with my wife pre Mother's Day. If Joe D. says it is good... He is normally spot on! Our visit was also on a Saturday afternoon about 1 p.m. Maybe 3 other couples there. We ordered spring rolls not knowing that one veggie egg roll is on the included lunch salad. We actually liked the veggie roll better than the chicken. Both were good. Veggie will be ordered on a return visit. My wife ordered the Basil Chicken entree' and I ordered the Pork Drunken Noodle dish. This is why we like Thai flavor. They popped!!!! Both dishes had 2 peppers. 2 did some cleaning of sinus but was the right amount of heat. Service was good and casual. Lunch prices are less and are a real good value. Confession time. Practicing for a trip to Toronto which has really good Asian cuisine. Practicing my chop stick skills learned while in Hong Kong. Realized that I had them upside down. After shopping my daughter was hungry, we decided to stop in and get fried rice to go. I'm so glad we did, the restaurant was very clean and only had one table of customers. Hand sanitizer is provided upon entry and staff are wearing masks. Staff was very friendly, the restaurant had a very welcoming vibe. The fried rice was SO FLAVORFUL! I did a To Go order & even though I called ahead and waited an extra 5 minutes after my ready time, I still had to wait another 20 minutes before my food was was ready Urg... I ordered Pad Thai, which is the first dish I try out whenever trying out a new place. Thai food can be spicy so I told them no spice. I like to add spice to my own liking versus them because once it's in there, you can't take it out. Well... this thing was sooo spicy! Acid reflux!! It wasn't enjoyable to eat and couldn't finish it. The noodles were very dry too and yes this dish is not saucey but I didn't want to eat dry noodles. I've only visited during lunch hours and it wasn't too bad in there. We're always immediately seated. The food here is always delicious, good portions & inexpensive! Clear signage, plenty of parking in the shared lot, gender specific restrooms, spacious dining room with full bar, and familiar Thai menu offerings at industry standard prices. Service was friendly but sluggish at times. Gyow Tod (fried wantons) were hot and crispy, flavor saved by the salty/tangy dipping sauce. Salad was watery and drenched in peanut dressing. Pad Thai portion was big, though a bit bland in flavor, made better by repurposed wanton sauce. Despite less than desirable visual appearance, drunken noodles were a 3.5/5. Fresh cooked veggies and juicy chicken in a bath of spicy sauce; noodles a tad soggy. Though they've recently declined a bit, Bangkok Gardens in Ghent is comparatively better, as is Rama Garden in downtown Norfolk. Portions are about equal in all places, but these 2 Thai spots (Norfolk) are better in food quality, not to mention the inclusion of Po Pia Thawt (Thai egrolls) with every entree! Not too bad out here at Racha Thai. I dined on father's day and they were woefully unprepared for so many customers. I was there early, before the crowd. But there was one waitress who told folks the wait would be a while, but another waitress kept seating people. To go orders were flying out the door. My waitress was fine, but obviously busy. I asked for un-sweet tea and they kept bringing me sweet. Waitress insisted it was the un-sweet. But it was NOT. I just got a water after third glass. At what point do you verify that the tea may be mis-labeled, to prove customer is an idiot or not? I ended up with a water. Also note, they were out of sake. Appetizer papaya salad was STELLAR! A little spicy, as Thai medium is no joke. It was fresh and delicious. I wish my dinner hadn't came so soon after I took the last bite, since I was spooning that spicy, sour broth in my mouth. Dinner I had Pad Kring (sp?) It was the ginger dish. I skipped the onions and added bamboo shoots. Came with snow peas and carrots too. The chicken was fine, but not past OK. It was oddly swimming in broth, rather than a truly reduced sauce or gravy. It tasted nice but was a little messy to eat, being runny. Racha has become my new spot this winter. I'm obsessed with their tom kha jay soup, but also enjoy the tom yum jay (both vegan) and fresh rolls with peanut sauce. Dining in has been great in spite of pandemic restrictions. I hardly see other people when I'm there, which is usually on weekday afternoons. It would be a quiet and cozy spot to grab a thai tea and read a book, journal, or whatever "you" thing one might like to do, such as at a coffee shop; this may not be true for busier meal times like evenings and weekends. Also a decently intimate place to meet a friend and eat a delicious meal. Partially to the credit of DoorDash: last night (Christmas Eve) I ordered takeout for three.
