    chicken pad thai

I finally came to Jen Thai cuisine to try their food. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I went in and it was a nice place, comfortable and clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Customer service was good although I just ordered to go. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It also is a cozy place just a bit dim.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ordered chicken pad thai. I like that they put in a foil under the noodles. i think the noodles were ok. It had a lot of chicken, i will come by again and try something else off the menu next time I actually got the lunch special. Dont usually lunch specials got something else special with it? It feels empty.

This review is for January 23rd. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This quaint restaurant is so intimate and cute.. it makes you feel like you are in your grandmother's kitchen in Thailand lol.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The staff is super sweet and the prices are extremely reasonable. I ordered Thai tea which I love as well as fried spring rolls and Thai noodles (medium spice) with chicken. Everyone was extremely filling and beyond tasty. This family owned restaurant will forever have a customer. Definitely try it out!

Haven't been here in years, it was nice to be back. Showed up for lunch and we had lunch Thai fried rice for the little one and I had the basil stir fry. The flavors were fine but didn't have that punch I'm used to but all in all good.

Over the weekend, my girlfriend and I visited Jen Thai Cuisine. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant has a warm inviting atmosphere[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], and the customer service is exceptional. I ordered the drunken noodles, which I enjoyed, while my girlfriend had the red curry which was equally good. We also tried the chicken wings, and they were great as well. If you are in the Kemps river area and craving Thai food, I recommend Jen Thai cuisine.

A hidden gem, in a corner of a small strip of stores, among UPS, dollar store and a CBD store, is where you find Jen Thai Cuisine. Upon entering you can tell locals love this place. 3 tables were already occupied with folks enjoying their dinner. As my friend and I were seated, there were plenty more people coming in to pick up their carry out orders. The place is cozy, clean slightly needing more light although one can argue it's dimly lit for the ambiance. My friend ordered the eggplant and shrimp dish. I ordered the Pad Prik Sod which is fried tilapia fillet smothered in brown sauce with veggie cuts. I chose mild. The dish was visually appetizing, smelled wonderful. The slight disappointment was when the dish was tad too salty! The service was wonderful, we were asked whether I want more of the hot green tea I got. My friend's ice water was replenished each time.

I ordered food from Jen Thai to be delivered. The pics and reviews looked good so i was excited. I ordered the grilled pork, shrimp pad thai, and spring rolls which cost about $40... They also charged $2 for onions... The food made me second guess my choice. The 1st red flag should have been the smell. It was boom pow in your face stinky... My daughter insisted thats how its supposed to smell... She must have been to sheltered because i disagree.. The pad thai was really bland with just a few shrimp for all those noodles. The bean sprouts, egg, and green onions that were supposed to be in it seemed nonexistent... The extra onions were barely there also. For $2 i could almost buy a bag of onions. The 6 onion slices i received left alot to be desired... Lol. I'm laughing to keep from crying... Smh. It was just dry.. Like the Sahara desert... I was more happy with the pad thai than the pork dish... I've never had pork be so chewy in my life. My throat sincerely fought me to not swallow it. I believe in second chances so i tried another piece and it turned my stomach. It was flavorless chewy meat!! On another note the sweet n sour sauce was tasty. The spring rolls were crispy and hot, but the vegetables inside made me frown. I don't like giving low reviews, but i wasn't happy at all... So i'm just being honest. $40 later and still hungry wasn't my expectation. . I don't think I'll return... The way my stomach hurts i couldn't help but tell the truth.. Read the reviews. I went by the stars and made a big mistake.. Reading is fundamental!! Theres definitely better Thai food out there.

    Stir fried basil

Ordered pad see ew, stir fried basil, and green curry. These are our go-to Thai orders and overall we were pretty disappointed. Pad see ew was dry and tasted like metal(?). It had a really off taste and a sour smell. Stir fried basil had good taste but it was mostly onions and bell peppers. I wanted pad kra paw and they said this is basically pad kra paw - but it's very far from the ones I've had. Green curry tasted ok at best but I was really thrown off by the color. The chicken itself had like a mint green color (food coloring?). Never had a green curry look like this before.

Small restaurant but nice decore, but soon as you walk in youcan smell basil, curry and spices. I couldn't wait to try the food! The,waitress was very helpful. I ordered shrimp with eggpalnt basil dish and crispy duck! Both sooo tasty! Hidden gem! Will definitely come back

First time here, just picked this one as it was the closest Thai restaurant in the area. The place was clean and food tasted great with fresh appetizers and unique desserts. I gave one star less because the pineapple fried rice was off, I have eaten at several thai restaurants and I have never had pineapples with curry powder. I set it aside and ordered drunken noodles as well and it was delicious. They gave a mountain of food, enough to take home and each lunch the following day. The price is reasonable as well. Recommendations are in order.

Great Thai place for take out! There's seating inside but not big enough for large parties. There's a big chalk board with their daily specials and a quick take out menu at the counter. I normally get Pad Thai Drunken Noodles, and curry dishes. There's a crab fried rice I will try next. But for me this is the best Thai place in the area as everything I've had so far has been good. They sell other desserts to go and mask as well. There's also a drink frig that has coconut water, soda, water etc to go along with your take out order.

    Piper A.

I love this place. Everything I've had so far has been amazing. If you can only try one thing get the Tom Kha - it's the perfect soup. There's enough coconut milk to mellow out the heavy hitting fresh spices but not so much that you're weighed down by the fat.

Jen Thai Cuisine is a small family operated Thai restaurant located within the large maze of shops in the Kemps River Shopping Center next to Indian River Road. It is found in the same row of stores where The Dollar Tree is stationed. There is an H & R Block office to its left and a UPS store to its right. A friend took me here once back in 2015 when it had another name, which was Elephant Smiles. Before that it was a sushi spot named Momo Sushi. You can still see the sushi bar inside. The interior is attractively decorated. One interesting feature is a large fork and spoon on the far wall in the rear. One possible meaning is that Thai people prefer to use forks and spoons instead of chopsticks for most of their dishes, unless they are eating noodle soups. There is a small separate dining area on the right as you walk inside. A list of their daily specials and a spice chart is always posted. I ordered each dish at the Thai Hot level. After three visits I have tried the following dishes to date: THAI ICE TEA: The version I was served didn't quite exhibit the beautiful golden glow I have seen at other Thai restaurants. Otherwise, its flavor was satisfactory and pleasantly sweet. I have no complaints about the lack of a refill. My Rating: 4 Stars. TOM KHA GAI SOUP: A Thai Style Coconut Milk Soup with Chicken, Galangal Root, Lime Leaves, Lime Juice, Lemongrass, Mushrooms, Green Onions, and Cilantro. I ordered the small size, which was served in a teapot shaped bowl with a lid. It was a cute presentation, but one that limited my vision of the ingredients inside. I prefer a wider and more traditional bowl that showcases more of its ingredients. The flavors of the ingredients came through nicely enough. My teeth got a surprise when they bit into hard pieces of galangal root and lemongrass. I've been told that this is how it is served in Thailand, so I appreciated the touch of authenticity. My Rating: 4 Stars. NAM TOK BEEF SALAD: Thin Sliced Beef, Red Onions, Green Onion, Cilantro, Carrot, Rice Powder, and Lettuce. This is an Issan style dish from the Northeastern region of Thailand. I've only seen it once before at one other Thai restaurant in the area. I was glad to see the rice powder listed, which is an essential ingredient that delivers a nice crunch and helps hold the other ingredients together. It is traditionally served with the beef slices cooked rare or medium rare. Instead, they were served well done with a dry, tough, and chewy texture, which killed the entire dish for me. I appreciated the effort, but its execution fell short. My Rating: 2 Stars. PAD BASIL WITH CHICKEN: This is a stir-fried dish with Chicken, Basil Leaves, Onion, Garlic, Bell Peppers, and Chili Sauce. The word "Pad" means "Stir-Fried" in English. This one was served in a huge puddle of sauce I found excessive. Large and irregular chunks of bell peppers outnumbered the basil leaves and overwhelmed their taste as well. The basil leaves are supposed to deliver the dominating flavor in this dish. There was no mention on the menu of the option to order this dish with a crispy fried egg, which is an iconic ingredient for a traditional version of this dish as it is served in Thailand. My Rating: 2 Stars. PANANG CURRY WITH CHICKEN: Coconut Milk, Chicken, Green Beans, Bell Peppers, Carrots, and a Peanut Butter Sauce. This one exhibited a rich texture and a pleasant depth of flavor. The peanut flavor was deftly subtle and not overwhelming. There were just a few too many bell peppers for my tastes. My Rating: 4.5 Stars. THE SPICE TRAY: I requested this for the dish mentioned above. The traditional Thai spice tray includes condiments that represent the four S's of Thai cuisine, which are the Sour, the Salty, the Sweet, and the Spicy. The Salty condiment is traditionally represented by Prik Nam Pla, a mixture of fish sauce and spicy red chilies, but which was completely missing. it came with a bottle of soy sauce instead. This is the first time I've seen Prik Nam Pla missing from the spice tray and replaced with soy sauce at a Thai restaurant. This was a huge disappointment, as this is the condiment I always enjoy the most. My Rating: 2 Stars. The spice level of each dish I tried was satisfactory, but fell short of a true Thai Hot. The menu descriptions of some of my favorite dishes are also too Americanized for my tastes. They offer no dried shrimp for their Papaya Salad. None of their dishes include Gai Lan. Their Thai Green Curry includes sweet green peas instead of Thai eggplant. I've been spoiled at another local Thai restaurant that does offer these ingredients. In spite of a few flashes of authenticity, there is not enough of it here to inspire me to return. On the positive side, the service I received here was friendly and satisfactory overall. My mixed reactions to the quality and consistency of the dishes I tried lead me to conclude this review with a soft 3-star rating.

Ahhh I loved this place SO much! Will definitely be returning to try out the other dishes! The place was clean Staff was very friendly Food was AMAZING! Price was right And if you're a plant lover like me, you'll be amazed as soon as you walk through the door! Huge beautiful plants and propagated plants on the tables. I had the shrimp pad Thai and water, husband had the drunken noodles and a Thai tea. We had the deep fried shrimp appetizer. We both really enjoyed our food and drinks(: can't wait to go back and try the desserts and other dishes! 5/5 recommend!

It was warm, comforting, and I Liked the big pieces of tofu and mushrooms. I'm still not entirely sure what the dumplings were...they were an odd texture to me, kind of gooey and soft, but the outside had a slight crunch to it. I can't even really describe the taste, either. I didn't taste the chives, though I saw plenty of them. The sauce was a savory flavor I'd never had before and I didn't particularly like it. I don't feel like it enhanced the dumpling. Maybe it'd be better with another sauce? The fried rice was typical thai fried rice. Steaming hot, veggies still have a crisp, flavored well. No surprises here. Ordering online was simple, pickup was easy and fast, and the place looked nice and clean inside (though I didn't stay to eat it there). I started with the chicken spring rolls, and they were perfect. Light, crisp, and clearly made fresh. Then came the red curry... and honestly, this is where they won me over completely. I have eaten a lot of Thai food over the years, at restaurants all over, and this was by far the best red curry I have ever had.
