It's been a while sine I've tried this restaurant again and the owners have changed. I really enjoyed and loved the food this time. I had no idea this little Thai gem was located right here in my home of South Sac! I had Doordash'd basil pork and Thai fried rice with chicken! It was soooo tasty, and they really packed it in with the basil pork! Also they used ground meat which I LOVE because a lot of placed don't use ground meat, ground meat is the best way for basil! And it it tastes way BETTER! Packed with so much flavor and spicy! Thai fried rice came piping hot! And had a lot of flavor! I haven't been here in months but decided to stop by for dinner. I've had their grilled steak salad which was one of the reasons why I came but they removed it off the menu due to time and short staff. Super disappointed but we left satisfied! We ordered Pad Thai, Thai Papaya Salad, and a mini Thai Boat. Pad Thai was super yummy. It has a nice balance of sweet and savory and it's extra saucy. Papaya salad was delicious. The place is a small hidden place hidden in the back of a plaza. You probably won't find it unless you are using yelp! When we got in, the place seem like a small place but we were immediately greeted and seated. We ordered a bunch of things to try it out. First off, we ordered the crab ragoon and pork belly as appetizers. It came out super fresh and was delicious. For the noodle dish we ordered phad thai and pa kra ko. My second visit here after about 3 months and was pretty disappointed in the service this time around. It was quite busy, we came on a Friday night around 6PM and it took about 30 minutes for our order to be taken and then another hour to get our food. We were starving by the time we got our entrées and they've changed their hours to closing at 8PM (not updated online) so we had to quickly eat as they were closing in 40 minutes by the time we got our food. The food was really good as usual but the service was not as good as last time. We were not checked up on throughout the entire time other than the few times I went up to the counter to ask about our order. They were quick to give us the check and charge our card though and as we were eating, many people came to get their pick up orders but they were not ready so they were waiting quite awhile too. Not sure if I would come back anytime soon but I would avoid weekend nights just in case. read more

We visited Bangkok Thai to place a takeout order for lunch. They weren't very busy on a Sunday, but we were also pretty early. The interior had lots of Thai decor, including large statues and intricate wall art. The vibe was casual and they had plenty of indoor seating. I ordered the Fresh Rolls and Deep Fried Dumplings with chicken, as well as a Thai Iced Green Tea. The rest of my coworkers chose noodle dishes - Pad Thai and Drunken Noodles. Service was friendly and pretty fast. My Thai Iced Green Tea was tasty but honestly too sweet for me - sweeter than most regular Thai Iced Teas, I think. The Deep Fried Dumplings were tasty and I liked the two sauces drizzled on top. I also liked the Fresh Rolls, but these were quite different than I had expected. Usually, they're cut into smaller pieces, but these came as two huge ones - almost like burritos. They also had cold noodles inside, which I wasn't expecting. The peanut sauce was great though! My coworkers had been asked what spice levels they wanted for their noodle dishes and all chose between a 1 and 2. I didn't try their dishes but apparently they were super spicy - so watch out for that and lean towards mild. Overall though, a good place to grab lunch. read more

I heard Bangkok Thai was under new ownership so I wanted to try it out. First of all, I'm disappointed at how they bagged my food. They were all stuffed into one bag with some plates tilted sideways to fit. The juice from the Pad Kra Pow Pork Belly (PKPPB) spilled all over the bag and utensils. Some even spilled in the car. They could have used two bags. The PKPPB was flavorless and hard to chew. The papaya salad was soggy and not that good. The Pad Thai was flavorful. I liked the beef laab. I ordered raw larb here with a side of sticky rice. Very good! I enjoyed it so much that when I was back in town, I went back and ordered it again because I craved for it. The flavor and freshness of the larb is spot on for me. If I'm ever back in town, I would like to try other things on their menu, but for now my review is for the larb. Small place with big flavors. Bangkok Thai is hands down our favorite Thai restaurant in south Sac. The flavors are authentic, bold, and comforting. Every dish truly hits the spot. The service is always warm and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. We especially love their soups: Kapoon, Kasoy, and Boat Noodle are absolutely packed with flavor and perfect any day of the week. The beef larb is another favorite. It's amazing that you can customize it to your liking. You can get it spicy, raw or cooked, bitter or not. Their classic dishes like Pad Thai and Drunken Noodle are some of the best I've had in Sac and are reliably delicious every time. My husband loves coming here when he's craving a good soup fix, and I never say no to joining him. We always leave satisfied and already planning our next visit. You may need to ring the bell to get their attention. Tried a few dishes Boat noodle - it's good. Not the best I've had but it's good. It's piping hot which is great. But it doesn't quite have that sweet aftertaste that most boat noodles do. Larb - good. Spice 4 is pretty spicy. Bitter like I like it. Pad Thai - spice 3. It's pretty good. No complaints. This was one of the most salty dishes I've had in a long time. The flavors were completely imbalanced and I had to chug a few glasses of water to finish this. I usually don't leave a review until going to an establishment at least 2x, but I'll leave a review since it's been a while. I would rate this place a 3.5 overall, but will round up since the staff were really nice and apologetic. We went here on a Thursday evening for dinner around 7 pm. The inside has about 10 tables and all tables were filled. So our wait for a table ended up being about 15 minutes since a few tables were done and left during our wait. The service was nice, but really slow as other reviewers stated. I know it was packed, but everything seemed to take 2x as long as other restaurants when they are busy. From the time we were seated to when we got our food, it was about 1 hour. The staff were trying hard to keep up so I commend them for handling all tables. It took at least 20 minutes just to get water, so if you are starving, I would not choose this restaurant. For the food itself, I would say it's decent. The boat noodle was really good, but everything else we ordered was average- above average. The drunken noodle was too bland for me and tasted way spicier than the "mild" we requested, and the Yum woon sen was okay. I liked the pad Thai, the dish I ordered, but it was a bit to saucy. My Thai tea was good as well. The three colored fried fish was also decent, but I think I prefer getting it fried at sf market and eating it at home. I took away 1 star for the following: everyone at my table ordered boat noodles and another dish to go with it. I was the only one who did not get boat noodles. But my pad Thai dish did not come out until every other dish was brought out. I ended up waiting at least 15 minutes for my dish while everyone else at my table ate their food after a 1 hour wait. I think common sense would've been to bring out my dish after everyone received their boat noodles. Then bring out everyone's secondary dishes. We ordered about 8-9 dishes total. And luckily, everyone shared some of their food with me so I was not left watching them eat. The wait time was another reason for the 4 star. It was abnormally long. It's great they were busy, but I think better preparation can cut the wait time down to half. Overall, 3-3.5 stars would be my rating. But I'll round up to 4 stars for the service and decent food. I don't know if I'll be back, but if I do, it'll probably be off peak hours. read more

The service was excellent, and the restaurant was clean and welcoming. While the food was flavorful and definitely hit the spot, a couple of small details kept me from giving a full 5-star rating. This may be personal preference, but the Thai boat noodle soup lacked the slight sweetness that it's known to have. Additionally, the Lao sausage I ordered was actually Hmong sausage. I came here with some friends to have lunch. I've never been to a Thai restaurant before where they ask spice level for every item you order. For instant, my favorite Thai menu item is the Rad Na, with chicken. I order this all the time, so I figured since it's my first time here, I will try it. They asked me what spice level, I was a bit baffled. Usually it's cook without any spice. So, I went with mild. When I got my rad na, it was heavily douse with gravy and it was gloopy, it lacked flavor! Like the sauce wasn't mixed well and served over noodles. The noodles were bit big and hard to eat. Their boat noodles actually have blood in them (positive) and it came with pork rinds and a bunch of small side sauces, peanuts, and chili flakes to enhance the flavor as you please. I was able to make 2 bowls out of the noodles and veggies provided, then another bowl with their broth, meat, and my own noodles. The tofu cubes in my pad kaprow were fried enough to get that perfect texture and had lots of bell peppers and green beans (though personally I wish there was more beans less peppers). I can't say their Kao Soi is magic and produces miracles. But the facts are that 24 hours after eating their Kao Soi with extra noodles and chili oil my sinus infection was completely cured. We also ordered their drunken noodles, pad thai and Thai fried rice and everything was delicious. read more

Flavorful food! To preface I have only tried a handful of dishes here but most of them have been pretty good. Like most authentic Thai places, dishes can get genuinely spicy so be careful. I don't dine in and only usually door dash so I can't say anything about ambiance or service. Portions and prices are standard. My family and I always order the pad thai and pork belly pad kra pow; they're both super flavorful and delicious 5/5. Boat noodle 3.5/5: it tasted good but nothing amazing, my BIL does really like it from here though Nam khao 3.5/5: I feel like it was pretty standard, not quite enough flavor for me but they do add plenty of nam sausage. Heard there's new ownership, so had to try this place again since everybody was raving about it. We came in on a Sunday, there were 3 other parties but we were sat down immediately. We ordered two boat noodles and one Thai green tea and one regular Thai tea with boba. For me personally I love Thai Green Tea but for me it was on the sweeter side. The regular Thai Tea was good, boba was a good texture but the boba had no flavor . Interior wise everything is still the same from previous owner. We did wait about 20-25 minutes for both bowls to come out, we over heard that they only had one chef working. The guy in the front was attentive with water, he did apologize a couple times for the wait. The boat noodle was good but I think it's abit on the saltier side. It felt really heavy eating half way in. I enjoy the fact that they did have blanched spinach (I think) inside, some restaurants just put green onion. I would highly recommend this place if you're craving for Thai food. Good customer service. I love the Thai boat noodle with crispy pork belly (customer has to request for crispy pork belly), khao soy noodle soup, raw beef larb, papaya, nam khao (yumm!), fried rice, fried chicken wings, fried quails, Thai tea, & 3 colors drink (dessert drink).
