The Ambiance here is actually like a banquet hall and also they do have a room where they serve regular dinner and lunch too. I really like the remodel inside it is quite roomy and I do love the nice decoration of the chairs to the tables. . For the food I got to try out the chicken noodle soup and it had a really good clear broth and your regular noodles. There was big chunks of yellow steamed chicken in there. . I also got to try out there spicy lemongrass soup with beef and it had a really good miles spicy to it and I do love the vermicelli rice noodle to it as well. The portion size was great. Bun bo hue is a mess if you're looking for something spicy Lemon Grass beef broth. . They also have your Chinese food like your chicken chow mein and fried rice to chow fun. They also have family banquet dinner specials if you're looking for a party or to host a banquet. . Overall this place is a must for people that is looking for Vietnamese and Chinese food. DO NOT DO YOUR PARTY HERE!!!! New ownership that doesn't take ownership seriously!! They robbed us of our celebration, money, and time!! They had 1 cook and 2 servers for a party of 200+!!! Food came out every 20-30 min!! People left home hungry because they took too long to serve. When mentioned to the owner, she said it's because we started late and people are hungry now. Ok if we started late doesn't that mean you should have the food ready?!? Why are you taking SUPER long for food to come out? They started serving around 6:40 pm and served the last dish at 8:10 pm. Also, the order of the food was discussed and they still didn't do what was agreed upon! We have done parties here before with the old owners and they were much better than this current hell hole. Their bathrooms also got clogged and when I went to tell a worker (because the owner was nowhere to be found), he said we needed to stop using toilet paper. Excuse me, stop using toilet paper?!? To wipe my ass? Are you gonna do it for me?!? You don't even have a bidet yet you want us not to use toilet paper. That's CRAZY!! After they called whoever to fix the toilets, they removed toilet paper from the men's bathroom and left both bathroom floors still wet/flooded. Before the event started we told the owner to prep for two extra tables just in case people that didn't RSVP, show up - if not used we aren't paying for those tables. The two last tables were empty and the servers wanted to put food on those tables!!! They forced my parents to pay $400 for those two UNUSED tables!!! (A $1000 refundable security deposit was made) I wish I was there because I would given her a piece of my mind because BISH YOU HAVE LOST YOUR MIND!! TAKING ADVANTAGE OF PEOPLE!! We had a large party so we reserved food and tables ahead of time. Food came out in a timely manner, however the portions were small and some of our guests left hungry. The food was very bland and we were not impressed. The silverware was mismatched and some of our food was served on plastic dishes, which we found very interesting. If you open a Vietnamese restaurant where a longtime Chinese restaurant was for years(nay....decades) , change the menu drastically, yet don't change the name of the restaurant, people are going to come in expecting the old menu. Well, I did that, today. I walk in noting the signs for Vietnamese dishes. I look at the menu: it says Chinese and Vietnamese food. I look at the seating area: it's late in the lunch hour on a Friday, but there isn't a single customer at the tables. The menu doesn't list any familiar Chinese dishes. I look for a lunch special list and don't see one. I ask the person who comes out of the kitchen some questions, but communication is halting. I ask if they have a lunch menu, and she says they can make lunches, did I want fried rice or chow mein? I replied that I was looking for a stir fried dish served with steamed white rice. She asks, you want fried rice? I said "No." Another woman (the manager?) comes out from the kitchen and the communication goes similarly. They can serve lunch, there is no lunch menu, and did I want fried rice or chow mein? I obviously wasn't going to be able to get a lunch plate typical of what the previous business had. I gave up. Pro tip #1: if you change everything but keep the exact same signage and name of the previous business, there are going to be old customers of the old place coming in wanting items they've always found available there. The only reason I can think of is that the new owners didn't want to pay for a new sign and/or they want the business of previous customers. Pro tip #2: If you have a dinner menu printed out, you should also have a lunch menu with prices printed out...if you want people to come in to eat lunch as opposed to people coming in to eat a dinner early in the afternoon. Long story short, don't bother coming here for a quick lunch plate unless you want fried rice or chow mein, and don't expect to see even that on a menu with a price listed. All the dishes on the menu were for full , sit down dinner dining. Items listed were in Vietnamese with smaller text in English below. (Note: Not really typeset to be easy to read visually, either.). For a takeout lunch of fried rice, you'll have to have an awkward slow conversation. Not what I wanted when I impulsively pulled into the parking lot for a fast lunch plate to- go! I used to frequent this location when it was a Chinese restaurant--also called Rice Bowl. That place has long since closed, and I noticed a new Vietnamese restaurant had opened in its place. With signage advertising a $14.99 lunch special and a focus on pho, I figured I'd give it a shot. Like others here, I was hoping this could save me the drive out to Stockton Blvd for a good bowl of pho. Unfortunately, from the moment I stepped in, things felt off. The restaurant has a cold, almost eerie atmosphere--vast, empty, and reminiscent of a funeral parlor. Still, I stayed optimistic and gave them a fair chance. The staff greeted me with enthusiasm--probably because I was one of the first (or only) customers that day. I was handed a laminated menu, mostly in Vietnamese, with little English to describe the dishes, which ranged from $12.99 to $21.99. When I asked about the $14.99 lunch special advertised outside, the server pulled out his phone to show a completely separate menu, offering just four fried rice options. Why this wasn't simply included in the printed menu is beyond me. After ordering, the servers began making conversation, asking me how I found their restaurant and why I chose them. While I appreciated the attempt at engagement, it quickly became awkward--my responses were repeatedly misunderstood, and I was asked to repeat myself multiple times. The language barrier made the interaction uncomfortable and forced. When my dish arrived--bun bo hue--an older woman introduced herself as the owner, explaining that their soups are made fresh to order. The servers suddenly switched to fluent English, boasting about their use of premium ingredients not found elsewhere. The presentation was decent, but the soup was bland and the meat had an odd taste--definitely not the quality they claimed. Things got worse when it came time to pay. Although I offered to pay in cash, they refused it, claiming they didn't have exact change, and insisted I pay by card--automatically adding a card processing fee. When I asked if they could waive the fee since I was willing to pay in cash, they reverted back to "not understanding English" and kept asking me to repeat myself, pretending not to grasp what I was saying. With thay, they were able to get to us right away, review menu, and answer any questions regarding dishes. I got their Combination Pho. Pho had clear, clean, and favorable broth. Very much to my liking, plenty of meat, and the meat balls flavor and texture was soooooooo good. First time trying Bo La Lot. I was surprised of how much I LOVED it. The fermented sauce/dip paired so well. Such a flavor burst and so addicting. Service was great. Owner sat down at the table with us since we had a few questions about the hall rental, table pricing, and possible catering. They added to the stage and have new sound and lighting systems. Was really excited to try this place in hopes of a closer Vietnamese restaurant instead of having to go to Stockton blvd. This place was really disappointing. The hot water (as most Asians like to drink) was not hot, luke warm at best. Bun rieu was ok. Not super flavorful and didn't have much protein. Mostly noodles, some fried tofu, 1-2 pieces of "crab balls" and a random beef bone??.. is that normal in bun rieu Egg rolls weren't super flavorful either and the dipping sauce was not the traditional tangy sweet sauce. It was a little savory buy more bland. It didn't elevate the dish at all. Chicken plate was very small portion. Only one small piece of chicken for 15.99. Not worth it. Vietnamese coffee was decent but they didn't do the traditional drip coffee. Came mixed as seen in the picture Pho was bland, noodles overcooked, and meat was tough. Rare steak was not the normal thin slices. They are these odd chunky pieces To top it off they forgot my order of pho Tai (which is why there is a small bowl-- had to take some from my grandma. The server even told me he's still waiting for my order but it never came. There were 2 servers (older woman who can't speak any English and younger guy who can speak some English) When I was trying to tell the woman my order was missing she had no clue. I waited 30 minutes while everyone was eating at my table. Finally got the attention of the younger guy who took our orders and just told him to cancel my order. When I went to pay I used cash because there is a credit card fee. Total for 6 items was around $82 and change. I gave the woman $100 and she didn't even have cash to give me. She had some guy maybe owner, give her $7. She gave it to me and I had to use a calculator to tell her she still owed me $10... I was frustrated and I just said forget, you can have it as your tip. It's a shame that this place received such bad reviews. I remember this place as a dim sum/ Asian wedding banquet location from 20-30 years ago. The decor was that of your typical Asian noodle house. They updated the inside, minus the carpet. The carpet was off putting and should've been replaced or removed when they remodeled the place. There were flies everywhere, which for some would be a turn off but I didn't mind too much. The service was quite good and very attentive. Mom had their BBH, which she said was good. I had their bun rieu, which was surprisingly very tasty. I would definitely be back to try their other dishes. What made the bun rieu and BBH special was the fermented shrimp paste (mam tom), which they concocted and put in a squeeze jar. Very tasty as a dip and in your broth. Minus one star, for two people they included the tip on our bill, which I am never a fan of. I would much rather pay tip on my own and not forced to do it. If you're going to automatically add tip then you need to disclose to your customers. Otherwise, this place is pretty legit. read more

I was so looking forward to this pho place. I was getting tired of driving to Stockton Blvd for a good pho and unfortunately, this place was a disappointment. The inside was dirty, tables were not clean, and utensils were kept in questionable holders. The restaurant is still undergoing construction with the other half of restaurant not closed off. Like many other asian restaurants, customer services were on par but the waitress for some reason didn't write our order down and gave my wife and I, two completely different dishes when the food came out. If she wrote it down, this would have been prevented. Dishes ordered: #8 oxtails pho... huge disappointment. Broth tasted water down and lacking the beef flavors of pho and there was ABSOLUTELY no sign of ox tail meat. The meats were not tender and most were hard to chew. It cost $20. The portion is ridiculously small. Its size is equivalent to a small in most pho restaurants in Sac. My bowl was 7"-8" in diameter and that's a $20 bowl. If the pho was great, I have no problem spending that much on a bowl of pho. I prefer QUALITY over quantity. This place has neither. There are no other sizes available it seems. The condiments were soaked with water, which made me question how clean was it to begin with. I have never ate at a pho restaurant where the condiments were literally dripping with water. #16?? Bun Bo Hue... my wife said it was okay. The broth is light, not much flavor. Nothing special about it. Way Better choices near Stockton Blvd. Hope you guys find this useful. I'm quite surprised at the bad reviews for this place. I ordered the fried fish extra crispy, which was really flavorful and good. It was accompanied by a sauce that had a lot of flavor. As a business owner you need to be on top of your game for your customers especially your a party hall renter. The bathroom is horrible, you really need to invest in a better plumbing system. How do you expect guest of 280+ to not flush toilet paper into the toilet and just throw into the trash can it's so unsanitary & disgusting.
