Bánh Appetit has officially become one of my favorite spots in town. Their pho is incredible rich, flavorful broth with fresh ingredients that taste like comfort in a bowl. I also tried their cà phê sữa đá, and wow... perfectly strong, sweet, and smooth. And don't even get me started on the almond croissant light, flaky, and absolutely addictive. Everything I ordered was top-notch, and the service was just as great. If you're anywhere nearby, do yourself a favor and stop by Bánh Appetit!

I came up on Banh Appetit quite by accident on Saturday after Thanksgiving because another place down the road that we originally wanted to go to was closed. I was craving some pho, so it worked out perfectly! Their broth is delicious, and a bit different from traditional pho, I think, but I couldn't put my finger on what was different. I got the shrimp pho, and did they load it up with perfectly grilled shrimps! My husband got the vermicelli bowl and he adored the egg rolls that came with it! The dish was quite flavorful and filling. We also got some drinks - an oolong milk tea with peach jellies (love!) and a creme brulee brown sugar with boba! The only con we could think of was the slightly expensive pricing, but the amount and flavor of the food made up for it (I was starving, lol).

Came back to try it again. It was tough when they first opened but it's definitely worth a trip back. The food is good and the prices are reasonable. Their milk tea and fruit teas are awesome! My husband is not easily impressed but he had to get a second one to go. The service was great. Our server was quite helpful with making our selections. It's true cafe vibe. Calm and inviting. It's definitely a place you can just go and chill.

I'm always on the hunt for a good boba place, this place is not it (to an extent). Their tapioca pearls are very good and cooked to perfection! No other boba shop has chewy boba like here. They only offer black tea for the fruit teas. I tried a peach strawberry and a passion lychee. Non of the drinks tasted like their description. It was not flavorful at all. I'm not even sure about their black tea. Must have been old, there was no flavor or any aromas to the tea at all. The two fruit teas I tried were very disappointing. I also tried the brown sugar creme brûlée, nothing fantastic about that. Just milk, and brown sugar with boba and creme brûlée topping. I also tried two types of Vietnamese coffee. Creme brûlée and egg. The coffees were good and strong, definitely 100% authentic Vietnamese coffee but the toppings were not noticeable. It wasn't busy when we came in, the service was fine. The restaurant itself was very clean. There's a lot of little knickknacks around the counter and shelves all over for sale. We will have to try the food next time.

Banh mi combo was just ok.

I was pretty excited for them open here. The place was so nice and clean. I liked the set up and decor. I thought it was a really cute shop. The customer service was also pretty good. The girl that took our order was very friendly. I tried their soy bean drink and Vietnamese coffee. They were both pretty good. The coffee is very strong. I only had a few sips and it kept me up for a few hours lol. I also tried their eye round steak and meatball pho. The broth wasn't bad at all. They ran out of basil on the evening that I came, but the pho still wasn't bad. In all. I didn't have a bad experience and will be back to try other items!

I brunched at Banh Appetít on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 11 am. Very excited a Vietnamese establishment has opened in the 'Boro, especially one that offers a variety of signature Vietnamese dishes like pho, banh mi, and goi cuon. When I came, it was not busy as if it just opened because the pastry display case still looked sparse after being open for almost 3 hours. The inside looked clean as we were one of the first customers of the day. The grilled pork spring roll was quite delicious with good flavor on the pork. However, the rolls could be more consistent in size since it looked kinda strange with one roll being noticeably larger than the other. The bbq pork banh mi was really good - probably one of the best I've had in the Nashville area. The sandwich was full and had every component that an authentic banh mi should have. The bread was also not too doughy. The pho was average. It was a small portion given the price. The plate of bean sprouts and basil was embarrassingly small even for the small bowl of pho. The well done brisket tasted old as it had a slight unpleasant aftertaste. Service was good. The girl who took the order was very nice and greeted us upon entering the door. The food took a little while to come out given how slow it was. So I'd expect wait times to be longer during peak hours. Overall, I was generally pleased. From the price-point, it was a little expensive, but fair considering it is the only Vietnamese eatery in this area. There were some minor needed improvements in the pho, but all the other stuff that I ordered was pretty good. I'd definitely return whenever I'm feeling for something Vietnamese in Murfreesboro.

Orange Tea & Masala Chai Tea

Fabulous service! All of my many questions were answered and samples of sauces and teas were available and given with a smile. It was my first time eating Vietnamese food and it did not disappoint. The dumplings were amazing and so was the beef vermicelli bowl with Hong Kong sauce. I will definitely be back and often!

Vietnamese iced coffee?! Are you kidding me? Half way through?

The cashier wasn't friendly and the portions are so small are you kidding me? For the price is not worth the price!

This place has been on my list for several months now so I stopped at the Buona in Murfreesboro on…read morethe way home from Cookeville. To give them a fair shake at a comparison to Chicago, I ordered two iconic Chicago staples, an Italian Beef and a Chicago Dog. First the beef, I ordered it with hot giardiniera and dipped. The beef was tender, flavorful and the peppers packed a pleasant heat. The bread was sturdy had a good flavor as well. Considering we are outside of Chicago, I'd go 4.5 stars. The Chicago dog looked and tasted legit complete with the neon green relish. For the dog I'd also go 4.5 stars. Seems like Murfreesboro might be sleeping on this great spot cause I was there at 6:30 on a Sunday evening and it wasn't packed. Highly recommend this spot when you are in the Boro to get your Chicago fix, it deserves our support!

Be prepared to read a magazine article length review of this establishment. Usually I do not review…read morechain or franchise restaurants, but this was so good, I made an exception. I was intrigued by a mail brochure, then their video. I like the place VERY much. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is because I reserve those for Italian restaurants with table cloths, vino, attentive waiters and opera playing in the back ground. It is based on FOUR visits because I liked it so much and did not want to give an incomplete review. First will be a detailed list of the dishes we tried and then I will get o ambiance and service at the very end. Here goes the food review first. Chicago Hot Dog. I'm not from Chicago and only know the signature food by reputation but my wife and I were impressed. The bun was very good with the poppy seed on the outside. Holding its own was a nice hot dog through the additional dressings. I ordered mine with the hot gardenia. It was delicious but instead of a vinegar base, it was a nice olive oil. French Fries Our family recognizes my wife as our resident expert on quality fries. She rated these as among the best she has ever eaten. I agreed with her that that they were crispy outside and fluffy inside. She added comments that they held up on the plate as she ate. Being crinkle cut, those fries tend to get soggy, but these retained their crispness through out. Chicago Beef Visiting their website you will see how they prepare their beef for meal. My wife indicated that it was fairly standard, but I drew me in. Admittedly, I have only tried a few of this type of sandwich. The things I liked about it was that it was juicy without soaking the roll and plate. It also had a nice flavor. Pasta On the wall in the store is a sign advertising that the pasta is fresh, never dried and that peaked my interest. Signature Rigatoni Marinara was the menu Item I chose and felt like it was one of the best pasta dishes I have ever enjoyed. Thin, long pastas are classified by a number indicating their thickness. I could not find such a classification for rigatoni. While I may be a bit of an engineer, I studied the wall thickness of this pasta. Compared to what I buy in the grocery store, this had a thicker wall. It is important because the pasta was cooked al dente. The mouth feel of the thicker pasta and feel to the tooth was great. Do not feel I am discounting the sauce, but it was one of the best I think southern Italy would offer. Brownie On a whim, I grabbed a brownie because my wife did not want to stop at a candy store for me to get chocolate to go with my bourbon at home. It was light in texture, but incredibly full of quality chocolate flavor. It was great taste for taste, sip for sip. Beef and Gardenia Pizza Our fourth visit to justify my rating was with my wife, adult son and I. Surprisingly, she ordered the pizza choice because it was unique, Neither of us had gardenia on a pizza. Their Tavern Pizza is 10" and cut checkerboard style, not wedges, which was fine by us. The one pizza was enough for my wife and I. We both agreed that the Marinara sauce was the same as on the pasta. The pie was loaded with toppings. In fact, it was hard to get a true taste of the crust. It was also so loaded that she commented that it was a good thing we ate in the dining room instead of taking it home. If we took it home, she suggested, the copious toppings would totally soak the crust. Gardenia served here is in olive oil, not vinegar. As such, it gave a nice flavor to the pie. I thought my wife ordered extra cheese, but, no. That thick blanket is standard. The blend of toppings was just wonderful and the gardenia was just spicy enough. Margherita Pizza All pizza restaurants are judged by their Margherita pizza as far as my son goes. This pie was not traditional, so he simply gave it a "good" evaluation. He would rather get this pizza at other restaurants, but if he came back here, he would order it. Among his comments were that normally tomato slices were on the pizza, but this one had the diced tomatoes in this. Also, all the basil, while tasty was just piled up in the center instead of strewn all over the top. Now for service and ambiance. Of my trips, I was there a few times shortly after they opened for the day and once during a very busy time. Both times, the meal came out in a timely basis and the meals very fresh. On one trip, I ordered beer. The counter person was underage, and left to find a manager to complete the order. She was not clear in diction and we did not know why she left, but it was O Being new, it was very clean. Ambiance is very bright and well lit. Large windows give a good view of the area. Promotional signs and posters are informative and appropriate.

The good, the Bad, and the UGLY:…read more For starters, I got sucked in by marketing. They make that pepperoni pizza meatball sub on a toasted garlic butter roll look so good on TV. That's what drew us in. For complete transparency, this is only the second time I've ever been to a Firehouse. The first time was nearly a decade ago in Smyrna & it was subpar, at best. The good: We went in today for lunch. Walked in around 10:45-ish. To their credit, the store inside was nice. Seemed fairly clean, well lit, & overall a nice spot. That's where the good ends. There were 3 employees there at opening, clearly struggling. We were the only ones in the store when we walked in, & nobody said 'hi', "Be with you in a moment," "Kiss my foot," nothing. Ok, whatever. We waited for the girl to get off the phone at the register. She was very nice. The Bad: We ordered at 10:50 & sat to wait, & wait... We were the only ones in there. I get it, they had a lot of mobile/Uber eats orders, etc. The 3 employees stumbled all over themselves. One girl, Summer - from her nametag, was clearly the one in charge of the other 2. She was trying to do everything & tell the other 2 what to do at the same time. Once our food was ready (about 15 mins after we ordered... ridiculous), we picked it up at the counter & walked outside to eat at a table in front of the empty store. Why, you might ask? About 2 mins before our food was done, 3 more employees came strolling through the door. One of them, who I assume was a manager guy in a black jacket, strolled straight to the back & turned on some, much needed, house music, but blasted it so loud I couldn't hear myself think. We had to get out of there just to enjoy our meal. My wife and myself shared a large pepperoni pizza meatball sub. Advertising shows this on a TOASTED garlic butter roll. They just took a normal roll, sliced it, rubbed a little cold butter on it, & slapped the ingredients on top. They did NOT toast the roll at all. Once we started eating, it was a soggy mess. It may have looked pretty in the photo (attached), but it was not. Additionally, they seriously need to check their food safety standards. Our sandwich, while the cheese was melted on top, was stone cold in the middle. STONE. The marinara was less than lukewarm, but the biggest detractor for me was the meatballs. They were SO cold. There is no way that they should ever be that cold unless they were just taken out of the fridge. Wasted sandwich. The UGLY: Staffing, management, competency, humility, & appreciation. ALL severely lacking. Remember that girl, Summer, that was the only one of the 3 employees who knew how to make sandwiches? Well she was apparently the shift leader for opening that morning. We got so annoyed listening to her literally yell and demean her coworkers we got up and took a pic of the sign under the register about letting management know about your experience. (The link doesn't even work.) As a matter of fact, the very first thing we heard as we walked in to this location for the very first time at 10:45am this morning was her YELLING at a poor guy in the back, "Hurry up and get out here, you're taking too long!" Literally, word-for-word. The younger guy stumbled from the back, clearly nonplussed with her demeaning choice of words & attitude. He was new & clearly still learning. He hadn't been taught well whatever task it was he was doing. He came and stood right next to her, didn't say a word the whole time we were there, & barely moved unless directed EXACTLY what to do. Poor guy. Seemed like he was ready to walk out. Example 2, girl yelling at her employees: Several people walked in about 10 minutes after we'd been there, before 3 others came in at 11. She clearly felt overwhelmed & yelled at the other 2, "Do ya'll not know how to do ANYthing?" When the 11am shift walked in, she (in front of every customer & other employees) loudly exclaimed, "Finally! We need some help, none of them know what they're doing!" How tacky, demoralizing, & uncalled for. I would have quit immediately. I have always been taught, from my much younger retail and customer-facing days that you NEVER have those kinds of conversations or comments in front of customers. It's just terrible. Some folks clearly cannot handle any positions of authority or holding 'power' over others. This particular Firehouse is in DIRE need of competent management & some form of a training program. These employees were floundering being left on their own. You may ask why we didn't refuse the sandwich, go in & talk to a manager? They were too busy to care. We didn't get a 'hello, welcome in' or a 'thank you, come again'. We were also on our lunch break & didn't have another 15-20 minutes to wait on them CORRECTLY making a new sandwich. We'll just have to hope these cold meatballs were properly stored & that we don't get sick because of poor food safety standards. This is my 2nd, and unfortunately, FINAL time to ever go to a Firehouse.

Anna was in the kitchen running around and all hands were on deck making sure everyone was tended to, and had not just phenomenal service, but phenomenal food! The sense of community spoke mountains as my fiancée was wished a happy birthday by a daughter of a firefighter, we watched her open the door for a local who came in, and as beautiful as that was.... Ron was known by all the locals and this restaurant spoke community from the minute you walked in. As for the food: -Steak plate: 5/5 Well seasoned, home cooking. If you've walked into your home and you had mom make you a hot plate of food, that's what this experience reminded me of. Home. There were smiles as we ate, flavors that reminded us of home cooking, just a classic diner experience that makes you feel a sense of community. It was just a perfectly cooked over medium egg, a scramble of steak and potatoes that was seasoned well, just a quality dining experience. -Chicken and waffles: 4.5/5 Southern classic. Breading was the only thing I'd change on the chicken but a fluffy waffle met with sweet syrup and a crispy chicken. Savory meets sweet and it's just done simple and done right. Chatting with Ron and Anna, the community is blessed to have them in this town and the twin yolk is somewhere I'd say is a true hole in the wall you'd miss unless you knew about it.
