So a local food reviewer on IG recently did this thing online where he visited many local Banh Mi shops in Sacramento and of course he ranked them. Well he ranked this one very high, in fact it was his number one-so I had to check it out. The shop is located on Arden Way at a small little nondescript strip mall but they do have plenty of parking,so no issue there. Walking up to the shop they do have a few tables on an outside patio for customers to enjoy. Inside the shop it's very clean with a familiar color scheme-thinking In-N-Out/Five Guys.It's very nice in there. The two workers inside were very efficient, the cashier was overly friendly and welcoming and the other,the sandwich maker, was just quietly grinding out sandwiches the entire time-I appreciated that. They have pretty good menu options but I kind of just went traditional with my lunch order. I ordered a crispy pork banh mi.(10.95) I also ordered both the pork and shrimp spring rolls($4.00 x 2 )to try. It wasn't super busy during this lunchtime so I got my order pretty fast,probably under 12 minutes I would say. Let's talk about the food. I always tell people if I had a personal chef,I would have them make me spring rolls every day for my afternoon snack-I love them so much,so I had high hopes for these. The meat on the pork spring rolls was pretty hearty and kind of took over the spring roll but it was still pretty tasty. The shrimp spring rolls though were a standout, the natural taste of the shrimp along with the other fresh ingredients made the shrimp version stand out. I'm relatively new to the world of Banh Mi but in a very short time I feel like I'm all in and have tried more than a few places and definitely have my favorites,when it comes to bread selections and fillings,but I'm still figuring out my palate in the vast banh mi world. That being said-I really loved this banh mi. It was put together so well,pork was well seasoned and crispy,a nice amount of fresh,snappy,yummy veggies and the bread tasted very fresh. I won't say it's my favorite banh mi, because my number #1 spot is pretty locked up but I really enjoyed the sandwich here. The crispy roast pork banh mi was so delicious & flavorful! The bread was fresh, light, & airy. The pork was seasoned well, crispy, & juicy. It tasted refreshing. As someone who always orders extra pate, I was sad when it didn't originally come with it but the Maggi lemongrass sauce is delicious, bold, sweet, & tangy. It complimented the banh mi very well & didn't need pate at all. I appreciate that the sauce came on the side as someone who prefers savory meats over sweet meats. Here I am almost a year later since I've last been here. I can say there is a huge improvement in the inventory and stock of ingredients. I was able to order the crispy pork banh mi this time. I did want to add in pate, but they were out of that. So I just got the sandwich the way it's made. It was toasted and the pork was really crispy. I enjoyed the sandwich. It comes with a side of sauce, which I poured into the sandwich. Customer service was good. Our order was taken quickly, but we waited about 15 minutes for 3 sandwiches. No one was here when we entered, but a few customers came in after we ordered. The restaurant is still the same. I think the fridge with drinks was added since I was least here since I don't remember that being there last time. There is still plenty of seating outdoors and a few tables inside. Went here two times now, and I been blown away each time. Their braised beef dip, is simply divine. The beef is so soft, juicy and aromatic, and the pickled veggies pair beautifully with it. The sandwich comes with a pho dip, admittedly it's a bit messy dipping it, so I just sip it. Frigging delicious as well. Each time we visited, we ordered via phone first and they the staff were most courteous and our food came out quite fast. Today we shared a Braised Beef Pho Dip with chips. Made to order. So GOOD!! My wife's favorite beef is braised beef. It was so tender, we did not even need the dip! And of course, the chips were also good. Next visit, I am getting the Smokey Sicilian, Tri Tip Sandwich. My wife and I are such light eaters that I did not want to get two sandwiches on this trip and have leftovers.. Smoothies, special drinks, and sides are also available. After the mall we decided to get some grubs. My favorite banh mi is crispy pork belly and I've been craving it for months. Luckily this spot have it on the menu. The place is small but there's some counter seating and outside tables. There's also a pork bowl if you don't eat banh mi. My bf enjoy his chicken satay but I didn't try it. I finally tried Banh Mi Mi and it definitely lived up to the hype! Right off the bat, service was great--everything was quick, easy, and stress-free. The guy at the register recommended the braised beef pho dip banh mi, and I'm so glad I listened because it ended up being such a good choice. The banh mi was so flavorful and packed with meat (like really packed). It also came with a side of soup for dipping, which I thought was such a fun and creative idea. The soup itself was a little salty on its own, but that makes total sense since it's meant to be dipped with the sandwich to really bring all the flavors together. Dipping was slightly tricky because the sandwich was so full, but honestly... I loved the concept and wouldn't change it. I did take it to go, so by the time I got home the bread was a bit soggy--definitely something that's best eaten fresh at the restaurant. I also ordered the Ocean Piña Colada, and it was sooo good. All their drinks are made at 25% sweetness, which was perfect. I could taste every flavor, and it was super refreshing without being too sweet or heavy. It was super savory. My bread did get very soggy very fast when dipping my sandwich and that didn't work for me. The customer service was great! It is genuinely upsetting to write this review because Banh Mi Mi used to be a place I visited regularly and enthusiastically recommended to my colleagues at the nearby hospital. I wanted to see this small, local business succeed, and I trusted it enough to repeatedly send other people there. Unfortunately, my experience last week completely changed the way I feel about this restaurant. Before leaving, I called approximately 30 minutes ahead and specifically asked whether the phở bánh mì was available. I was told that it was, so I made the trip expecting to order it. When I arrived, however, the staff told me they had been sold out since noon. I cannot understand why I was told it was available when it apparently had already been unavailable for hours. A simple, honest answer over the phone would have saved me the wasted trip and frustration. My coworkers have had similar experiences as well, which is heartbreaking to hear. What happened with my replacement order was considerably worse. I have an egg allergy, so I clearly and respectfully requested that my bánh mì be made without mayonnaise. This was not a preference or an attempt to be difficult: it was an allergy-related request. Despite that, when I received my food, it appeared to contain an excessive amount of mayonnaise, almost as though extra had been added rather than removed. Whether this happened through carelessness, poor communication, or something else, the result was the same: I did not feel safe eating the food I had paid for. Food allergies are not minor inconveniences, and customers should not have to wonder whether a clearly stated allergy request will be taken seriously. The staff's rude and dismissive attitude made an already troubling situation feel even worse. Instead of leaving with the meal I had called ahead to confirm, I left feeling misled, disrespected, and unable to trust that my food had been prepared safely. The most disappointing part is that I was once a loyal customer. I supported this restaurant, spoke highly of it, and recommended it to people I work with. Losing trust in a place you actively wanted to support feels far worse than simply receiving one disappointing sandwich. Consistency and basic kindness matter, but when allergies are involved, careful service can become a matter of someone's health and safety. I sincerely hope this experience encourages the restaurant to take allergy requests more seriously, communicate honestly about unavailable menu items, and treat customers with greater care. I may return in a couple of months and give Banh Mi Mi one final chance because I would genuinely like to change this review and feel comfortable recommending the business again. I have passed by this shop multiple times driving home, and finally took the opportunity to stop in during a random weekday for lunch. I ordered the Braised Beef Pho Dip Banh Mi and Thai Iced Tea. I finally made it out to Banh Mi Mi. It's right off Arden so it's super easy to locate. The store is small but still a good size given it is a sandwich store. The interior is super cute with the red and white aesthetic. Service was standard with nothing special. I wanted their special/ dac biet sandwich but they sold out and chose the braised beef pho dip. There's plenty of veggies and meat. I do not think it needs the dip as the sauces made the sandwich moist, however I did enjoy drinking the soup. Was up in Sacramento and wanted a quick pick me up and snack so I came across this bahn mi place! I was super excited to see that it was only bahnmi sandwiches sold here (kind of like a subway). Nice cozy spot and good music for banh mi. Service was friendly, fast, and professional. We ordered the Dac Biet "Special" and the Italiano Vietnam. They were both tasty. The Italiano can be a bit sour from the abundant pickled carrots and daikon so if you're not into sour food, I would choose a different option. The Dat Biet "Special" was good and fatty. The abundant part with that braised pork and shredded dried pork gave it a nice touch in contrast to the pickled carrots and daikon. Overall, solid spot for a variety of different banh mi subs. I left really disappointed yesterday from this place. I have been coming here for almost a year and drive sometimes up to an hour out of my way to get banh mi from here - my favorite being the Pho Banh Mi. I've tried almost every sandwich on the menu and have left impressed everytime. I've noticed they sell out pretty early, especially on the weekends. So I placed my order on GrubHub around 12:30pm for a Pho Banh Mi and 3 baguettes because I wanted to secure my food, but I wasn't able to pick it up until 3pm. I put on GrubHub for a pick up time of 3-3:15pm to let them know that I wouldn't be picking up immediately. I got there and they ran out of the Pho Banh Mi. The employee there offered to make me a different sandwich or use a Tri tip meat instead. The other sandwiches are all cheaper than the most popular one of course. I opted for Tri-tip since I thought it might not make a huge difference and it tasted completely off like it was a roast beef flavor and looked like deli meat instead which didn't pair well with the broth or other items in the sandwich. I was hoping that since I placed my order in advance, they would reserve a portion for me. Or I thought they'd make the sandwich earlier and I'd have a sandwich that was a bit soggy from sitting around for like 2+ hours but I didn't mind that since it still tastes good like that. They also sold out of sandwiches shortly after arriving leading me to believe, that I took the last baguettes they had and if I had came just 10 minutes later, I wouldn't have gotten anything at all. This is really upsetting because I look forward to this food and have been a loyal customer for a while now, driving far to get this food. I think the owners should consider their customers a bit more and compensate for their popularity by having an appropriate amount of food to last them throughout their operating hours. I mean sold out 4 hours before closing time is great showing that the food is good but at some point, the customers are going to be disappointed when they go out of their way and look forward to lunch/dinner from here. I think it may be time to start looking for other banh mi places in Sacramento since the consistency of this restaurant has been lacking and I can't rely of them to have the food I order well in advance readily available as a restaurant should. (No hate to the employees though - there's two of them handling a massive amount of orders with bad organization between online, phone, and in person orders. My wife ran across a TikTok from taste duo about this sandwich shop. So she insisted that we should try it, and since I love bahn mi she didn't have to try so hard lol! As far as ambiance, it's a cute little sandwich shop that gives you the option to eat inside or on the patio right outside... the young lady who helped us was sweet, friendly and helpful... she suggested the ocean smoothie and that was a home run! As many of you that know me well already know that I am a sucker for a delicious Banh Mi sandwich. This takes me to the Arden neighborhood of Sacramento where I had the opportunity in trying out "Banh Mi Mi". Located directly on Arden Way and adjacent to Bell Ave., this place officially opened its doors in early-2025. To those that remember, this is where "The Bubble Hive" once stood from 2018-2024. I came here during the afternoon on Saturday 6/7/2025 at around 12:15pm. The parking lot exterior is shared with several other businesses in this small strip-mall that includes a liquor store and a florist. The exterior of the building is nicely decorated with the business name in large red block letters which showcases that this place indeed specializes in sandwiches and smoothies. As for the interior, it is well-lit but small while offering ample seating for roughly 10 customers. After glancing at their menu selection they carry a nice assortment of tropical smoothies, milk teas, Vietnamese coffees, and of course their trademark Banh Mi sandwiches. I ended up trying their "Crispy Roast Pork" sandwich (priced at around $9.75). This sandwich offers their pork belly, lemongrass Maggi sauce, mayo, and selected veggies. I will say that timeliness was not a factor as my sandwich was done even before I was done paying. After unwrapping the paper holding the sandwich in, I liked just how the portion of this was quite generous. However, everything after that unfortunately went downhill. For one, the Vietnamese baguette was rock hard while I almost thought I chipped a tooth. And secondly, the pork belly had a very unusual texture to it. It was crispy on the outside but rather gummy and chewy on the inside. In all my years eating these types of sandwiches, I was immediately turned off how strange this tasted. Even though I ate about 75% of this sandwich, I will not let one negative experience deter me from eating here again. The two young ladies were super nice while the interior was very clean and inviting. I think if anything, I would come back for their smoothies (on a warm summer day) while staying with my go-to spots in South Sac for delicious Banh Mi sandwiches. With that said and done, I am giving "Banh Mi Mi" just an average three-star rating. read more

After seeing raving reviews of Banh Mi Mi, we decided to try it out and understand the hype! I've heard of this place since the owner was a home chef, so it has been on my radar for awhile. The restaurant is located at the busy area of Arden Way but there is plenty of parking in the back. Upon entering the store, I was greeted with warm welcomes and they kindly answered any questions I had about the menu since it was my first time there. Inside the restaurant was clean and had many open seating (tables or the bar). The decor reminded me of the old school, retro cafes so that was cool and matched with the store's brand/graphic. Love it! I ordered 2 banh mi's- roast pork and the combo (dac biet). The roast pork was sooo good, nothing like I had before. It even retained its crispiness after the 30 min drive home! They included sauce for the roast pork, which made it even more savory. The combo was standard, but still yummy. Something unique about the combo was the addition of pork floss! I haven't seen that before so it added a nice touch. I do wish there was more pate throughout the sandwich. Since most of the pate was at the end of the sandwich, the last bites were a bit salty. But not a deal breaker, we still enjoyed every bite! We'll be back to try more items and smoothies! read more

What a cool concept! The shop itself is very clean and cute. Love that it blends American and Vietnamese deli concepts. They have unique offerings that are not typically offered at a traditional banh mi shop, such as the crispy roast pork. The crispy roast pork really is crispy! I was very impressed. The rest of the sandwich was pretty standard, although I have to say that the bread itself was pretty good! It was crispy out the outside and soft on the inside. The sizes were reasonable for the price. They also have interesting smoothie options. Service was very friendly! I would definitely come back if I was in the area! read more

Got to try Bahn Mi Mi out finally and I enjoyed their Crispy Pork Bahn Mi. I was torn between ordering that and the Italian but chose the crispy pork after seeing some one else order it and how much crispy pork was on it. Overall it was a great tasting sandwich and a decent amount of food but a bit pricey for bahn mi. The wait took awhile since only one person was behind the counter at the time but even then it was worth the wait. Definitely eyeing that Italian Bahn mi still. read more

Excellent off-beat banh mi selection right on Arden! The sandwiches were awesome, with fresh ingredients, freshly fried pork belly for the crispy pork banh mi, and high quality generous portion of cured meats for the Italiano. Showed up in between pork prep, apparently, because we were told they were out, but then told a 5 minute wait was all there was between us and goodness in a baggett! Definitely worth the wait! When entering Banh Mi Mi you are immediately greeted by the nice staff and the very cute decor the interior is very clean and simple almost reminds me of in n out. I got their dac biet banh mi and two drinks I don't quite remember the names of. First the dac biet banh mi, it was a good sandwich and I may get it again but if the owner reads reviews I would recommend two things. I LOVE salty food, the banh mi was salty even for me. Additionally I would make the shredded carrots and daikon cut thinner and brine it for longer this would help cut back on the saltiness and fattyness of the sandwich. Last recommendation is to toast the banh mi, that would really set it apart and justify the somewhat pricey sandwich. 4/5 despite my feedbackit really still is a good sandwich and I'd be down to try the other ones! Their drinks are fricken awesome btw both are 10/10 for what they are. I highly recommend the one orange with yogurt in it. So delicious on a bright sunny day Overall rating 4.5/10! read more
