This is a solid choice for a Bahn mi in the Irving area. I stopped here after work and ordered the Coconut Chicken Bahn Mi and an Iced Matcha Latte to go. The employees were super friendly and they offer discounts on certain days for certain menu items. The Bahn mi was really flavorful and tasted really fresh. The bread was perfectly toasted as well super tasty. The coconut flavor was a unique twist I haven't seen at many other Bahn mi shops in the area. I also thoroughly enjoyed my matcha latte it was a good size and not too bitter. I would say the inside is really clean and modern. Not too many frills and more of a fast food vibe with a large bar. Overall, a great spot to grab a quick bite. I'll definitely be returning to sample some more items on the menu. read more

Was on the way to get some Firehouse subs and gave this place a try instead. I saw they had a bowl special on Wednesday so I got those drunken noodles. It was good, some of the noodles were a little hard but it was still a good meal. I got the chicken. It was supper flavorful and the sauce they used is very good. I will also say it's a lot of carrots in there as well. The service was good even though I got take out. I wanna go again, it has a nice bar in there and also has a great variety on that menu. Very very well marinated. Flavors pull through. Strong hint of fish sauce but not too overpowering (but I grew up on fish sauce so...). The difference in the cook from different chef does matter. First time: blown away by how heavily the marinated steak taste. However, the sauce drizzled over the rice was too overwhelming. I needed bland rice to have a more balanced taste. I didn't have nuts the first time. And man, the jalapeño pesto was banging fire. Honestly, the pad Thai was a bit of a twist. It has that Thai flavor but heavily influenced by the fish sauce. Some may like it. Some may not. Second time: a little bit less marinated flavor going through but the rice added that balanced blandness. If both chef combined their works, I'd say great deal. It came served with very freshly made seasoned potato chips. The interior of the restaurant was upscale and clean, and the location on MacArthur is close to my office. Well that changed a couple of years back! They are definitely not worth the cost. Mine was chargrilled way too much, tasted burnt. My sister said hers wasn't, so I pulled the short straw. Amazing food and service! Our server welcomed us back and remembered us after just 1 visit. They were very intuitive and provided us with accommodations before we even had to ask. When I saw that a banh mi restaurant was opening in Las Colinas I got excited, because we have a lot of great Asian and Indian food options here, but almost no Vietnamese. So I would have been happy just to find a good fast-casual banh mi. Banh Shop is in the same strip as Firehouse, Blaze Pizza and Salata, all of which are very good, but Banh Shop is a full notch above. The decor has a lot of nice design elements without being overdone, comfy booths, aaand... draft beer and a bar! It seems like a just-right hybrid of fast casual, a small restaurant and a sports bar. None of this would matter if the food wasn't good. I can only report on my first visit, but what I ordered was excellent. Pork belly banh mi with the paté add-on, plus shrimp summer rolls. Really great banh mi! Pork belly was delicious and cooked just right, very good bread (often overlooked but important), just the right veggies and dressing, and they didn't skimp on the wonderful paté. Summer rolls were fresh and tasty, with good sauces for dipping. The side of chili sauce was on point and tasted like it was made fresh in house. Service was friendly and very attentive. The whole experience was casual and easy but so much more than I was expecting. I went there for a late lunch but I will definitely try it for dinner, too, especially with the drink options.
