It is unbelievable that an urgent care could be so poorly managed- but it is. There was one person ahead of me and another that checked in online who was experiencing payment problems. Apparently, the fact that I was there, paid, and was roomed was irrelevant to their system or the provider. They took 3 other patients ahead of me, after having me in an exam room, because they checked in online!! News flash! Urgent care is suppozed to be for walk ins. I was sitting in the exam room for over an hour before i was finally fed up and left. Banner- if you dont want to properly manage an urgenct care center- then stop doing so because you are awful at it in this location. I went here last month because the other Urgent Care I go to was closed on Sunday. I had to pay $75 upfront because my insurance card doesn't show the cost of urgent care on it. They had a sign that said that once insurance processed the claim, it would be reimbursed swiftly. Well it's been over a month and I'm still waiting for that reimbursement of $50. I will have to call the billing department, which has limited hours, and get everything squared away. What's more, I didn't feel the care quality was all that great. I had bronchitis and instead of giving me antibiotics or prednisone, they just gave me a nebulizer treatment. I don't recommend going here. read more

I recently came into Banner Urgent Care for a toe injury. When I arrived the lady up front at the desk was very nice and helpful. When the NP came in ( Carla) the room she immediately evaluated my toe nail and explain to me it needed to be removed. Ouch! Ouch! And Ouch again! Me being a big baby I started to complain. NP (Carla) told me that there is no choice it needed to be removed. She then explained all the shots I was going to get the process was very uncomfortable but did end. Carla took my toe nail and then asked if I wanted it back I said yes it will be a great conversation piece. One thing NP Carla didn't give back was my heart!! She stole it from the first time I laid eyes on her. I highly recommend this place for sickness and injuries but be careful they might steal your heart! read more

My son had an accident and needed to be looked at, he has a very sore ankle and a hand with a large wound. We went to Banner as it is close to home at 1 pm on Saturday, as a walk in, we sat there for over 2 and a half hours (after being told wait time was about 30 minutes) when we went up to inquire about our status in line we were told it would be another 45 minute wait. While sitting there a stream of walk ins was seen and left before him. His was not an emergency but he needed to be seen. So we made an appointment Sunday morning, 12:30 pm was the appointment time. We got there about 20 minutes early and waited in line for 20 minutes to get checked in, then again sat in the lobby for 2 hours, never to be seen. When asked, again, when he would go back he was told "soon" . He then waited an additional 30 minutes. The staff constantly says "there is only one provider" I guess this is supposed to make it better. And today again there were walk ins that were taken in and seen before him. HORRIBLE service! read more

Quite possibly the worst experience I've ever had in my life. I came here after a couple days of feeling sick with flu like symptoms. I explained this in detail to the nurse who took my vitals - I was around people at work who had pneumonia and people at home who had the flu. Obviously, when I started feeling ill I thought it was time to come into the urgent care. Check in online is a complete and total joke. Even after checking in and arriving 15 minutes prior to my appointment I waited another 30-45 minutes in the lobby before another 30-45 minute wait in the exam room. When the nurse took my vitals she placed the thermometer on the top of my ear instead of inside of it. After waiting to see the doctor, she finally arrived with an annoyed look on her face. I explained to her my symptoms and asked if the previous nurse had passed anything along or documented it and she said no. I went in detail about how I felt but rather than note any of it she just waited for me to finish talking before loosely holding the stethoscope to my chest and back and declaring I had a virus infection that couldn't be treated. How this diagnosis was arrived at with little to nothing in the way of an examination was astonishing to me. The doctor then sarcastically suggested that 'IF' I felt bad I could go to the pharmacy and buy things over the counter - she'd give me a list. I stood up to leave and at this point she became very surprised that I wasn't pleased with her pathetic examination and diagnosis. I explained to her that if I wasn't sick I wouldn't have waited for over two hours to see her only to be diagnosed with a virus after no testing, examination or other checks were done. I'm now home and feel even worse than I did before I went to the office. I think I will be contacting banner about obtaining a refund and filing a formal complaint with all relevant medical governing bodies after this. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! read more

The absolute worst. If you have a name like Banner on your facility, I would make sure you have the VERY best physicians in there. Sat in the waiting room for an hour and a half with (and checked in with) CHEST PAINS. Was moved into room for ANOTHER hour. My daughter was here the two weeks prior and the first appt the doctor said, "lungs sounds crystal clear and may just have a little congestion." Two days later, she all of the sudden had pneumonia filled in her left lung bc I actually took her to a doctor that knew how to treat a wheezing child. It's my fault for coming back. Hearing people laughing in the back office when a person still has not been seen is unprofessional and disgusting. Wait time of 2 hours JUST TO BE CALLED BACK and placed for another wait time... sickening. Never will I return to this or any other Banner Urgent Cares. read more

I've never used an "urgent care" for treatment, I usually go to my PCP. I had an exceptionally positive experience here. After a couple of days with an injury that wasn't healing, I decided I needed a professional opinion. I was really impressed with this facility. The staff were all quick, efficient, professional and very helpful. I was not in a "good mood", but they remained kind and helpful. Gregory Allen Pritchard, PA diagnosed my injury and was 100% correct with treatment. He was very kind and compassionate. They also followed up the next day with test results! My PCP doesn't even do that; I have to call them for results. read more

I went to the urgent care on McLintock and Southern for the first time today and my experience has been the worst in my life. I have never been treated like this in any medical office around the world. The staff are extremely rude. I filled up the application and waited for an hour and a half before I was called. The nurse who took my temperature, blood pressure was extremely rude. The physician spent only a minute and a half checking my chest and left the room immediately. They are only interested in your money. Completely unprofessional. I will never come back here and I don't recommend this place at all. read more

I was seen very quickly, even for a holiday! They were open their normal business hours on the July 4th weekend, which is a huge plus. Everyone was very friendly, and extremely professional. The entire place was clean, and the waiting room chairs were comfortable. They even had the medication I need right on hand, at a very low cost. I strongly would not recommend this urgent care. I took by child here. They ended up injuring my child even more. I had to taken me to the hospital to help for what this place did. The doctor here hurt my child and screamed at my child because yelled out in pain for what she didn't. She didn't know what she was doing. I never have a problem with time or rudeness here. Even during time when there are a lot of illnesses plaguing the ers and doctors office's there is never a long wait here. I was there 2 weeks ago and this older couple walked in and the front desk girl told them to check in on the tablet. First off they didn't know what it was and second couldn't use it. They looked around for 5 minutes before I got up, not the receptionist, and showed them what they were supposed to look for and then checked in for them because they couldn't figure out how to use the tablet. My wife went to this facility after falling and hurting her ankle. There was no wait and the staff was friendly enough. My first clue should have been when an aide had to be shown how to activate a cold pack. X-Rays were taken and the doctor on duty misread them as a sprained ankle. He said her pain would subside in two or three days. She was sent on her way with an ace bandage and a pair of crutches. Ten days later, a podiatrist told her she had been hobbling along on a broken ankle the whole time. read more

Somebody please explain to me how it is that a medical office has "no way to verify insurance"?!?! So because my insurance card doesn't have an amount on the card (because it's covered by the way, no copay needed) I need to pay $75 to get my ear looked at?? Seriously?!?! Umm last I checked other urgent care, doc offices, ER can all verify. I was literally told to call and check. Something they honestly could have done seeing I went in for hearing loss so sitting on the phone not exactly the best idea. UPDATE: I ended up having to go to the ER that night and got diagnosed with pneumonia. So if you want to live, don't go here. The incompetence of the staff can surely kill you. When the medical assistant went to take my temperature in my ear, she stuck the device ON my ear not in. While I was bothered that an MA couldn't even take a correct temperature, I waited patiently for the doctor. Once the PA stepped in I told her my symptoms. She was incredibly hard to understand and not because of an accent, but because she mumbled and was surprisingly condescending. At this point I haven't slept in four days due to a fever of 102 everyday and coughing at night so asked if there was anything I could do; she wrote me a prescription for an over the counter cough syrup... even after the fact that I told her I was already taking one and it did not help. She just looked at me like I, the patient coughing my lungs out, was lying to her. I have always been the type of person to never judge PA's or NP's. But the incompetence of this particular PA makes me realize why everyone I know refuses to see a PA. Obviously from this visit, the two years of graduate education PA's get doesn't even compare to the 4+ years a MD receives. read more

If I could give this facility zero stars I would. Front desk incompetence resulted in a billing address being recorded that had wrong City and Zip. I received the final notice on 7/21/18 for an April visit where zero services were provided except for vitals and a 5 minute visit by a provider. She was very nice. I will never use Banner again. Front desk scans your AZ driver license so how hard can this job be? I would not recommend. read more

I guess I should thank Urgent Care Extra for their apathy, it did get my husband the treatment he needed. We went to Urgent Care Extra, because my husband was complaining of extreme leg cramps, extreme thirst, and blurry vision. He asked if it was possible to lay down while waiting for a doctor. The person working the desk walked into the back, came out and said "no, you can sit and wait." The concern over my husbands condition was minimal at best. I ended up leaving and taking my husband to Banner where he was admitted within 30 minutes of blood glucose reading of 640 points. He was given a first time diagnosis of diabetes. Apparently, the signs and symptoms of his condition were very obvious to anyone familiar with the disease. Very glad my husband got the treatment he needed. I have been to this Urgent care twice. Once for a TB test at which the nurse and Doctor argued outside of the room over who was going to give me the test because neither of them had ever given one. The second time they would not let me into see my girl friend because she was taking "medication". After finally being let in I found that all they gave her was Tylenol. Both of my experiences have been horribly on professional. The staff are unhelpful and obviously don't know how to do anything. If you really need help go somewhere else. read more

Clean, professional, polite patient manager. Nurse and physician's assistant were very thorough and quickly diagnosed my problem. They didn't try to push antibiotics but suggested them. Everyone seemed respectful and knowledgeable. That is all I really look for in an urgent care. read more

I went today, Saturday around 11 am, only one person waiting in front of me and the woman checking in was super friendly and helpful. Didn't wait more than 15 minutes and Luis was awesome with my 16 month old who is sick and my crazy 4 year old who tagged along. Kelly the PA is phenomenal and was also very patient with the baby. OMG what a bunch of imbiciles in the back office. It took me about 5 phone calls and over an hour of being on hold with my insurance company and the image center to try and sort it all out. After going into the Urgent Care center, Banner sent in an order for an MRI, the imaging place contacted them and said they needed the doctors notes in order to obtain insurance authorization. Banner told them to fax a request which they did. Later my MRI appointment was cancelled because the image center did not receive the notes. It turns out that the fax machine was broken so they couldn't receive the fax. Who knows how many other patients treatments have been delayed because of their broken fax machine. There is no excuse for errors like this when it comes to a persons health. As far as getting treated I'd give this place 5 stars but the back office is horrible. read more

My son wasn't feeling so well and having classic symptoms of strep throat so I took him to this location . Walk in, the front desk attendant stares at me and asks me how can she help . Seemed very out of it . I told her my son needed to be seen . She asked for insurance card and my ID . I told her that he's under my insurance and I have my card and his card number . She said she would need his card number . I told her ok I have that . She stared at me blankly and said that she needs his card number I said ok I'm ready her it is . She says that if he has a number he's should have a card . I told her, once again that I have the card number and his father has his card . Another 3 second blank stare and she said next time I need to have the card not just the number or else he won't be seen . I asked her is he going to be seen today , she said yes then I asked if she wanted the card number . She said not yet . Took my ID and gave me a 4 question questionnaire to fill out. I started to fill that out and she stated I had to sit down and do that because it violates HIPPA. No one else was in the office but I complied and asked for my ID back . After some hesitation she have it back . Completed the paperwork 30 seconds later and she was gone . I waited and another girl with gold chains on came to the front , took the questionnaire . Asked for my ID . I have her my ID and she puts it down and walks away and have me some paper work to fill out . The other girl came back , I asked for my ID and she said that I have to step to the right because me standing at that window violates HIPPA . Even thought that's where you have to check in . I asked her why , because I never heard of anything like that . And she said "we're not going to do anything with your ID" which made me think that's exactly what was going to happen . She said it was because they have patient records out and I told them , from what I know , them having patient records out in the open for the public to see is a violation of HIPPA. I asked them is there a reason I'm getting such resistance because I'm trying to just get help for my son . The front desk girl became very rude and demeaning. I asked her if she was high . She jumps up , throws my check in paper at me and says that I can go somewhere else . I ask to speak to he office manager they refused . They said to call corporate which I did . read more

One piece of advice to them: when the STUPID TV in the waiting room, the one you use to annoy people with, isn't actually working and the satellite connection is breaking up and making jerky pictures and noise, AT LEAST then you could turn the stupid thing off instead of making people suffer through it. read more

I went to this urgent care today because I had a fever and earache for over a week. There was no one waiting and only one person at the desk. She told me that the PDF on my phone of my Insurance card could not be accepted. She told me I can fax it or email it and when I asked for the email she said she couldn't give it out. Told me to go home and print it out then come back. This is outrageous behavior. I have never had this issue here or at any other urgent care. Went to a different urgent care on rural and the gladly accepted my digital insurance card. Don't waste your time here. People at the front desk should at least appear to want to help, not give you every reason that they don't want to. Despicable way to treat the ill. Step into the modern age and establish an email for use of digital insurance cards and get a friendlier more competent front desk represtative that doesn't embarrass your sorry establishment. read more

Unfortunately my rating is based purely on the poor performance of their billing department. We went to this urgent care in June 2016, for an arm fracture. The front desk was awesome, the doctors were understanding and caring, no concerns regarding care. When I received the bill after they processed it through my insurance, I immediately issued a check directly from my health savings account. This is something I've done many times with different medical providers, and a check goes directly to whatever billing office is located on the claim submitted to insurance. When checking my account a few months later, I noticed that about 2 1/2 months after I issued the check the same amount was redeposited back into my account and the claim was re-opened. I attempted to call the billing office multiple times with no success. My only solution was to re-issue the check under the assumption that it was lost in the mail. Up until this point I had not received any kind of notification from urgent care stating that I had a balance due. About a month and a half after I issue the second check I received a call from the billing office stating my account was overdue. I notified them of the issues regarding the check that it already been submitted and at that point they notified me that they changed billing offices and the address was not correct. At this time the second check was still pending and had not been redeposited into my account. I told them I was not comfortable making a payment over the phone when the amount for the bill was currently already out of my account because I had issued them a check. I requested that they note my account of these issues and I told them I once the check was sent back and the money was redeposited into my account that I would call and make a payment over the phone with my card. I recently received a notice from a collection agency requesting payment. Since receiving this letter I have not been able to speak to anybody from urgent care billing office. Each time the line states no one is available to talk to you and you're only given an option to pay over the phone automatically. I confirmed with the collection agency that this account will not directly affect my credit score and I decided to just pay with them. Very very very frustrating and I will do my best to never go to the urgent care again. read more

I have only been to this office once and do not plan on going back!!! The physician Suzanne Strickland was extremely rude and inconsiderate. I would not recommend this office to anyone. My husband and I are fairly new to the area and have not set up a PCP. My husband got set up through VA for his care, but it takes months to get into VA medical. We decided to go see Suzanne this weekend to get some annual blood work done. We very much believe in keeping up on everyday wellness and tracking changes in our bodies. When I told Suzanne this she very rudely started interrogating me on what I was looking for and how uncommon it was to make this sort of request. Shocked that she was speaking to me this way, I didn't have much to say. I try to get bloodwork done annually. There are some family conditions I like to keep tabs on and in addition it is a great way to check for anemia, diabetes, underlying infections, thyroid, cholesterol and MANY other conditions...etc. How she didn't know this baffled me. She couldn't fathom and even went as far as to discourage my request. Beyond that, the way she dealt with the issue was EXTREMELY unprofessional. While she is entitled to her medical opinion she could have tried to explain to me where she is coming from, instead of being rude and trying to make me feel stupid. I was not impressed with her professionalism at all and definitely wouldn't trust her with a matter that really was "URGENT". I left so upset that I even gave them money. I should not have been charged for that appointment and the treatment that I endured. read more

This place used to be great before Banner bought it out. My husband took my son in Jan 17. I got a bill in the mail today July 17, saying the claim was denied. I called and verified they took my insurance, they do. I called the insurance and they were never billed. They tried this with my oldest son. They sent him a bill for a visit that was 3 years ago. Again the insurance paid the entire bill. They were sent notices from the insurance company that they needed to bill the insurance company. What is really horrible is that Banner has bought out many of the urgent cares in Tempe. Go to Fry's Little Clinic, Walgreens or CVS clinics. The Fry's on Southern and Rural has a Little Clinic and the CVS further north on McClintock has a clinic. Both provide better service. read more

I'm not a fan of this place. I was in the waiting room for over 30 minutes, got to talk to a nurse who was quite rude and made me feel very uncomfortable for about 2 minutes and then waited another 30 to see an actual Doctor. All of that for $150 if they don't take our insurance. The Doc was nice enough but definitely not what I would consider friendly. The front desk lady was actually really sweet, it's just too bad that not everyone follows in her footsteps there. read more

I chose this location after reading some of the other reviews. I had to get checked for a sinus infection. Once I walked in, I noticed the place was clean and open. The check-in was quick and easy. Once that was done, I don't think I waited five minutes before being called in. The MA was friendly and quickly checked my vitals. As soon as that was done, Dr. Gunnell showed up. He took the time to assess me, listened to my concerns, and to explain everything. The whole visit was a whole 30 minutes. I've been to a couple of the urgent care places in Tempe, in the past, and this one is the best. I would definitely recommend. read more

I work in a pharmacy and constantly get rxs from this place, the doctors are quacks and the office staff are rude, they are constantly prescribing medications that have been recalled, are spelled horribly wrong with unsafe quantities, we have had the doctors ask us how to prescribe things. Very scary stay away! Lots of better urgent cares out there save your money and get quality care somewhere else. read more
