Made Open Table reservations for 7:45p, and arrived at the resort at 7:55, after having called to let them know we'd be a bit late because we didn't expect traffic to be as heavy as it was- we were greeted and seated by Brianna almost immediately upon arrival at the restaurant. Our server, Christine, was attentive and helpful as well as extremely personable and pleasant. The restaurant itself was very modern with a clear Asian theme without being too over the top. Beautifully dressed tables, easily accessible all around even with the stroller of the table behind us- still easy to walk around for both us and the server. Our selection was delicious! For our appetizers, we got the spicy cucumber salad and edamame...... While we greatly enjoyed the cucumber salad-the addition of the fried onions added a different texture and a lovely flavor to the marinaded cucumbers. The edamame was a disappointing option, as it was the same option we could get almost anywhere.... But we aren't pork eaters, so the gyoza was completely unappealing. We were told about the bao buns by an exiting patron, and wish that had been an option. For our mains, we got the bibimbap and the dragon roll; these were absolutely wonderful. We shared both, and the spice of the kimchi and the gochujang sauce was good, but maybe slightly overpowering for the short rib. The short rib itself was beautifully cooked, well flavored, and definitely a stand out in the dish. The dragon roll was fantastic- the tempura batter they have was so light and fluffy, even more so than most I've had in the past, it was a wonderful texture contrast in the roll. The eel sauce on top was really delicious, we both commented that we felt it may have been made in house because the flavor was exceptional. The entire roll was really very well balanced. Deserts, also known as the only part I remembered to photograph instead of enjoying speaking to my dining companion, were excellent as well. The pineapple egg rolls had a delicious filling, the pineapple chutney was a great temperature difference being so chilled when the dish first got brought out. I was a little disappointed in the velvet bloom- I felt the ube panna cotta was severely overpowered by the strawberry coulis, as the ube flavor was very subtle so the vanilla/white chocolate/hint of something tropical and slightly floral, almost coconut flavor I expect from ube was just overwhelmed. The sesame sticks were delicious and a nice texture contrast, as well as a good palate cleanser when I got too much of the mint from the citrus medley- good but definitely more mint than I enjoyed with the very otherwise subtle flavors of the bloom itself. Overall, I loved my dinner and can't wait to be able to return, probably even asking for Christine by name- she really was a great server and we had fun with her!

These were all juicy and had a nice amount of sauce glazed on them. For sushi, we tried several special rolls including the spicy crunch roll, Tokyo negi roll, and the dragon roll. What stands out about their sushi is the unique flavors and presentation. I found the jalapeño aioli on the Tokyo negi roll to be very unique and yummy. The dragon roll was definitely my favorite and I loved the large piece of eel on top of the roll. While some of the rolls can feel heavy after a few bites, it was still pretty good. While we arrived a tad early, the hostess was able to seat us pretty much immediately and service was great. The atmosphere was pretty relaxing and immersive, offering an escape from the hustle and bustle of exploring the Disney parks. Shiki-Sai definitely makes for a unique and quality dining experience.

You can order à la carte or with their $65 prefix menu. Now get this: the prefix meal includes an appetizer, side of sushi, entree, dessert, AND a cocktail/mocktail. The portions are almost ridiculously large. My appetizer (chicken nanban) was so large I had completely forgotten my entree was yet to arrive given how full I was from both the appetizer and sushi. Our server commented that this was a consistent observation with guests who dine there. I went with my family and as a large group we were able to try multiple menu items, all of which were outstandingly delicious. Try the chicken nanban and the violet sake! The kids meals are very picky eater friendly - the cute bento boxes had an assortment of chicken and fruit that the kids loved. You'll enjoy everything here. From the soft buttery sushi to the Japanese pancake (often referred to as Japanese pizza). The environment is collected, calm, and relaxing. The service was genuine and welcoming, and they stay very on top of refilling drinks and clearing used plates. They also have great recommendations if you have a difficult time deciding your meal choices. The environment in Shiki-Sai is a noticeable contrast to the sister restaurant Teppan Edo (which offers hibachi) across the hall. While Shiki-Sai was open, peaceful, and inviting, Teppan Edo was quite noisy, cramped, and the air felt warm. You can notice these differences walking past the restaurant to the shared bathrooms at the end of the building. As the occasion was to celebrate a birthday, we felt we had made the right choice. I have visited nearly all of Epcot's restaurants, and this ranks in my top 3! Will definitely visit again and again.

It has been a few years since I have reviewed Kona cafe. It really was not my favorite, however…read moreafter going back a couple times in the last few months I think my mind is being changed. They have updated their menu across the board and I have to say they are actually pretty good. Over the last couple months we have been there for breakfast twice and will be going for lunch in the next couple weeks. We most recently took my mom and dad there for breakfast and both of them enjoyed it as well. Kona cafe is located at the Polynesian resort, and if you want to park at the resort you are going to need a dining reservation. You could probably get lucky and do a walk up without having a reservation, however you are not going to be able to actually park at the resort with the way Disney has increased security. We had a reservation and since my mom and dad have a handicap pass we also got valet parking for free. Kona cafe is located on the second floor of the main building. It is a smaller restaurant, but has a good number of seats, and it is pretty open so you can see all of the lobby and such. I don't love getting a table right along the railing, as everyone who walks by looks over and stares at your food. We also visited for a later breakfast with some friends since we wanted to do a monorail crawl. Our last two visits were breakfast and I did order the same thing both times but they were absolutely delicious. The first thing I ordered was the acai bowl, thinking I wanted to get something a little lighter and fresh. I thought that the acai could be a little thicker and it was more of an acai soup, but it was still really tasty, full of fruit and full of granola. The first time I ordered it we had a very late breakfast so I kind of chalked it up to it just being later and then getting close to stopping breakfast. However the second time I ordered it it was pretty much the same, maybe a little bit colder and a little bit thicker. I have a feeling the first time I ordered it it sat under a heat lamp waiting for the rest of our party's food. It is topped with lots of different fresh fruit, granola and macadamia nuts. It is also a huge bowl and really good. I also ordered a side of bacon because Disney bacon is phenomenal, and my tip is to ask for it crispy. They also have gouda grits which are just fantastic. They are thicker, which I love and honestly just so good I can't even recommend them enough. On our last visit my husband decided to try a classic Hawaiian dish and ordered the loco moco. He was a little nervous about how it would be, but absolutely loved it saying he would get it again. I tried it as well and also really enjoyed it. My parents ordered two of their other classic breakfast dishes, one being the macadamia nut pancakes and the other their Tonga toast. The pancakes were filled with macadamia nuts, and the portion was three huge thick pancakes. We actually brought some home and ate it the next morning. The Tonga toast is their classic sourdough French toast stuffed with bananas. I have always heard about this but never tried it and I have to say it was really good. Overall I think this restaurant does not get enough credit. I myself had put it as a place I didn't really love, but I foresee my husband and I going here more frequently. Their prices are not that bad especially for breakfast, so I think that is when we would visit. We do have a lunch reservation coming up with the family in a couple weeks and I am looking forward to trying some of their food. Overall I think this is a great place to grab a meal before the parks or before your monorail crawl.

Here's a rundown: We did make a reservation and arrived about 5 minutes before the time. Even then, we had to wait about 15 minutes. Then, we were seated, but it took a long time to order. And, while we had an allergy, the food took a very long time to come out too. We didn't get our food until almost an hour after checking in, which was pretty disappointing; our young kids were LOSING IT. We watched tables come in after us, order, get their food, and leave before we got our food. We ordered a press pot. We miss that many Disney restaurants no longer have them. The one here was...disappointing. There were grounds in the coffee, making it not very enjoyable. The quality seemed to have slipped too. The food, when it finally arrived (again, almost an hour after checking in), was very good. I'm thankful they were able to make a dairy-free Tonga Toast that was also not GF, it was sooooo good. The rest of the family also liked their food. The server and manager, while ultimately comping our coffee, didn't really make up for the long, long wait for the food. Definitely something that needs to be fixed.
