Traditional mochi (brown sugar and taro)

10/10, fantastic everything and we'll definitely be coming back soon. Fantastic service and great food very authentic to what we had in Japan! It was quiet when we came but we'd be more than happy to wait in line here in the future. We loved the ramen and traditional mochi and the guy running the counter went above and beyond to help us have a good experience, even bringing us extra stock when we said we liked it but were used to a little more salt. Definitely recommend!! We'll be returning! Edit: forgot to mention that the ramen eggs were the best I've ever had I'd come back for that alone!

The atmosphere was so fun! They had a tv playing anime and the music playing wasn't loud. The workers were really sweet and accommodating. The food was delicious, and the most authentic I have had in Rexburg. The udon noodles were to die for and the egg was phenomenal!! Super underrated because nobody knows about it yet (brand new).

I love the food served here! The garlic and shoyu bowls are my personal favorite!! I also love the new rice bowls. The service is great! The workers are super friendly and helpful even if it is busy :). With the japanese music and anime playing in the background, it give a friendly and welcoming atmosphere that is quite enjoyable!

#4 garlic noodles ramen style. chashu, green onions, bamboo shoots, bean sprouts no nori

The ambiance is alright for a ramen shop, rustic simplicity. The choices for toppings are limited and there are only two broths. I would have preferred a vegetable broth with umami like shrimp. The chashu is decent. It is melt in your mouth and smoky. The pork broth is very unseasoned and not complex... just smoky pork water.. I had to add about two tablespoons of sciracha and a tablespoon of soy sauce to make it taste like it had flavor. The egg was the star of the bowl. The broth tasted good with the noodles for the most part but I did not find it so delicious that I would drink it all.. it gave my stomach an ache actually because of how oily it was. I wanted garlic flavor oil but it did not give it any garlic flavor just a layer of oil. There is a lot of potential for this restaurant to take off. There needs to be more veggies added in the dish and more seasoning and depth of flavor in the broth... I would have loved some mushrooms... enoki and wood ones. And some shredded pickled carrot or shredded cabbage, pickled ginger etc... that would have added some more flavor. The fried gyoza and save was perfection. All the prices were high. The ramen was not good enough for 15$ cost more like a 9$ ramen... the gyoza were small and 1$ a piece. There were 5 gyoza for 5$. I was afraid to use the bathroom because it looked sketchy and is unisex. A bit smelly. I did like TV. The walk up to the restaurant looked like a construction site that was left messy complete with a plywood covered wood pallet for a walkway.

Just finished pushing the snow from my in-laws driveway and sidewalk, and I had about as much…read moreenergy left as a 2 watt light bulb. I need some food, real food, to keep me going. The wife and I stopped in for lunch at Hokkaido because what's better than soup on a cold day, right? Having this be our first visit to Hokkaido, my wife ordered the spicy ramen, and I ordered the Tantanmen ramen, level 2. Oh, and unless you've got the appetite of a Bigfoot, you might want to skip the appetizers. Not that they're not good. You just won't need them. The real deal is coming. It might take a bit to get there, but man oh man was it authentic. This isn't your 6 for a dollar kind of ramen. There's lots of meat and veggies AND as much spice as you need to warm up the insides. If you've never had Japanese ramen, put away your fears and give Hokkaido a try. You won't regret anything other than it being your first time.

Typically I love Hokkaido. The restaurant on sunnyside was always clean and well kept. As well as…read morethe customer service and food. Since they are no longer there. I have resulted in going to Hokkaido by the river. Every single time I've gone there. It has been terrible. The customer service is absolutely appalling. We were seated and waited I kid you not over 20 minutes just for our drink order. The place wasn't even busy. The host that sat us, walked around noticeably eating food and being on their phone when they could've taken orders etc. I go to the bathroom and there is not toilet paper nor hand soap and an astonishing amount of chemicals and cleaning supplies under the sink. There is also a door in the women's bathroom that has a trash can blocking the entrance which makes me uncomfortable. The food is no where near as good as the building on sunnyside and was missing different garnishes of my soup. Some of the staff were not friendly and did not seem interested or cared on how we were doing. Although I will say Wyatt helped us and was so kind and apologetic on the wait. He seemed to be the only one taking care of multiple tables. When the short haired individual was walking around aimlessly. Long story short. It used to be good but I've been to this location multiple times and it's the same result. Staff are careless and food is not the same.
