We had a very yummy dinner here. The pork and crab soup dumplings are some of the best I have had in the city. The pastrami egg roll was unlike anything I have ever had and definitely something I would go back for. The duck with rice noodles was also one of the more tasty dishes. The serving sizes were ample and great for sharing. My one complaint- its soooo crammed in here. Everyone felt on top of eachother, and despite it not being a packed house, I could barely hear the people i was sat with at the communal table. The volume of everyone around yous conversations just amplified at the long table. Its ambiance is interesting, and gives more southern farmhouse with bright lighting. Well. To be honest... Redfarm's food is pretty good but much too pricey for what it is. I had the crunchy vegetable and peanut dumplings. Four extremely small dumplings with what seemed like a slaw of carrots, lettuce, and one peanut in each dumpling. Cost to me...$20. I also had some wide rice noodles with vegetables. A few of the vegetables were tiny slices of carrots, celery, and a few - very few - broccoli spears. It came with a spicy chili sauce which made my bald head sweat. $30. The meal shouldn't cost 50 bucks. Maybe 30 bucks. The price restaurants charge now-days is crazy. CRAZY! The price landlords charge for rent is CRAZY! Came to RedFarm on a Saturday night while searching for a good dinner spot in the village. My friend worked around the area and mentioned she'd been meaning to try this place cause she heard good things. It didn't disappoint.... The staff was very friendly at the bar and the Old Fashion with lavender was probably the best I've ever had in my life. Everything was so good but a few stand out dishes were the bacon/egg fried rice, crispy beef, and ribs. Loved that the website had picture of each item so I can get a picture of what I wanted to devour before I arrived. I was not a huge fan of the shrimp stuffed shishito poppers. Also wasn't a fan of the fois gras tart. Wasn't sure if it was trying to be an app or dessert but I wouldn't recommend this. Such a wonderful experience. Food amazing BUT, NO RICE ! The 2 of us spent $100 ! This was a takeout order and I was absolutely shocked that rice wasn't included with the main course. I have NEVER had Chinese food that didn't include rice. It costs extra ! It's a cheap way to upcharge your patrons and frankly, dishonest. Who wants to eat your 3 pepper chicken and not have rice? At least you could have stated this on your website. Why not just charge $5 ( what your rice costs) more per entree and bring the rice ?? Come on guys think it through. Rice is penny's on the dollar. I had not eaten at Red Farm for several years and was very disappointed by the Sweet and Sour Chicken. The chicken inside had a weird texture and did not look at all like chicken, but some kind of reconstituted meat. I have celiac disease and I had an incredible experience here. It is rare for me to feel this comfortable eating somewhere that is not dedicated gluten free. The food was simply delicious--each dish was seasoned to perfection, highlighting both traditional Chinese influences and contemporary creativity. We sampled nearly the entire whole menu, but what stood out for me were the ribs, crispy chicken, snow pea leaves and the soup dumplings. Service was impeccable. I really appreciate that the staff paid close attention to details, from crumbing the table between courses to neatly folding my napkin each time I stepped away. Finally made it back! We put our name in without a resi around 7pm on a Saturday and was able to sit 45min later (we grabbed a drink up the block) which worked out perfectly. Decoy is currently closed, but RedFarm which is upstairs is currently serving their famous Peking duck ($95) and it's a must have!! Be sure to get there early to reserve as they only have a certain amount each evening. We also had to get the pac-man dumplings and pork soup dumplings which are top items at RedFarm. We also tried wok fried green beans - service was good! I'd highly recommend this spot and especially the duck! They also offer delicious cocktails! Love this spot! Always have. read more

We mostly came for cocktails, but when I sat down, I remembered why I had heard of the place and mentally bookmarked it- the pac man dumplings. Our drinks were great, for my second round I changed to Red Farm's version of a spicy marg and really enjoyed it. Not as sweet as the other drink I'd been sipping on. I was pleasantly surprised to realize each pac man had a distinct flavor, so am glad to say we did 50/50 bites of each. My favorite flavors were lobster (red) and blue crab (blue). The mushroom one tasted meaty, almost like a surf and turf! Will have to come back and get a full meal next time! read more

We shared the duck, octopus, spicy crispy beef, pastrami egg rolls, pac man shrimp dumplings, and some other things including the soup dumplings. I don't get the place- the name doesn't feel Asian to me and the food is a spin off Asian- I suppose Chinese. The bill for 3 of us was pushing $400 and we were all still hungry. PAC man is not worth it. Very kitschy and if you share it, you can't taste it all as the dumplings are all filled with different things. I personally didn't like the duck at all. The octopus Dish was more string beans than octopus and not tasty. Pastrami egg rolls were weird. Best thing was the crispy beef. Soup dumplings were doughy and not great. But I'm not a fan of doughy dumplings. I don't know, this review is harsh. Place is definitely not authentic but I can see how people like it as it appeals to a commercial palate. read more

We went for dinner and I liked the vibe better. Lights are pretty dim which adds to the vibe. We ordered bunch of things, my favorite was the Buddha delight! Like I said. Red farm is good... but to give you an idea of how overpriced their menu is... their bowl of white rice is $5. Unless their ingredients are farm to table and the rice was grown in a hydroponic garden in their basement, I don't think it makes sense. Everything I have eaten from RedFarm has been spectacular. The pastrami egg rolls - to die for! The crispy beef - the duck . It's all quite excellent. Perhaps a bit on the higher side of pricing, but quality food for sure. My only issue is that I often do takeout and the bag is never sealed. In this day as the world has unfortunately evolved most takeout restaurants create some sort of indicator that the food was packed and "sealed" preventing a delivery person from tampering with what the restaurant has put together. Also, a word on the space: We were seated at the head of the communal table, directly in front of the entrance. Every time the door opened, a huge gust of wind blew in. We came for a friend's birthday and did the Red Farm/Decoy group dinner prix fixe option - still a little confused about the merge of RedFarm and Decoy since there is also another prix fixe option for just RedFarm, but we had a great experience! The prixe fixe is quite expensive at $95 a person, but it really does include a lot. The first course is an assortment of 4 different types of dumplings: shrimp and truffle, 'five flavor' chicken, vegetable and peanut, and soup dumplings. I loved the shrimp and truffle ones - such a nice flavor combo! - and the soup dumplings were steamed to perfection. They even provide vinegar and ginger so that you can eat it the traditional way. You only get one of each dumpling which was a little disappointing, but makes sense considering the sheer volume of the meal. Then we got a foie gras tart that was cutely shaped in the form of a duck. This was probably the most underwhelming part of the meal as I felt that the fruit and tart aspect hid the actual taste of the foie gras, which should have been the star. I'd recommend eating the foie gras separately from the rest of the tart to get the full taste of it. THEN we got the star of the meal - the Peking duck! It's actually quite rare to find a good Peking duck place in Manhattan, and I think this was the best I've had so far. Crispy skin, juicy meat, and all your typical accompaniments of scallion, cucumber, pancakes, and hoisin sauce. They even provided sesame and cranberry sauce which I thought was cool, but I still find hoisin to be the best pairing. There was more than enough for the six of us and honestly the meal could've ended there and I would've already been filled to the brim. HOWEVER, then came FOUR MORE dishes - a steamed sea bass, prime rib steak, roasted duck noodles, and sautéed snow pea leaves. The sea bass was delicious and the only thing that could've made it better would've been some rice. The snow pea leaves were simple but flavorful and a much needed vegetable for a very meat and carb heavy meal, and the duck noodles and steak were also great. I will say that I found the steak to be an interesting choice for an Asian restaurant and didn't eat too much of it. They also provided two slices of chocolate cake with ice cream for us to share since it was a birthday dinner! At that point I was already nearly incapacitated from how full I was but managed to squeeze in a bite. It was very rich and not too sweet which is just how I like my cakes. I don't think I would do the set menu again because of the price, but I'm really glad to have had the experience. The dishes were delicious and the wines we ordered were both very good. All the servers were great and even let us sub out a vegetable fried rice for the duck rice noodles, and the setup of Decoy (separate entrance from RedFarm) is very nice and intimate. The bathroom even has one of those fancy heated bidet toilets which was fun. My only qualm is that they had a strict 2 hour limit for reservations which seems short for big parties. But, all in all, a great experience! read more

Lucked out on a slow Monday night and was totally wowed. The friendly, helpful host offered us immediate seating at the communal table, but suggested we wait a bit at the (small) bar as he could see a private booth would be available shortly. Five minutes later, score! Imaginative fusion menu with (too) many enticing choices. EVERYTHING was fresh, more than ample portions, expertly prepared and presented: --scallion pancakes with bacon, incredibly light and not greasy --pan fried pork buns, tasty filling --grilled jumbo shrimp in red curry, truly jumbo and the grilled flavor came through the balanced sauce, and a load of varied veggies --crispy skin smoked chicken, will remember this dish for a long time!
