Pad Thai
Jane K.

Stopped by Thai Villa for dinner and ordered the Pad Thai and Pad Krapow. I asked if the spice level was Thai spicy or Americanized and was told Thai spicy -but there was barely any heat at all. The food was decent but definitely lacked the bold spice I was expecting. I wish I had ordered something much spicier or emphasized it more. We also seemed to be the only Asian table there, which might explain the toned-down flavors. Great for vibes and drinks. Not for me though.

Thai Villa is perfect for those nights you really want to experience a beautiful ambiance. The decor and lighting gives romantic but also inviting. We went on a Saturday night after 5p with no reservations and had the option of a long wait time or sitting at the bar so we opted for the bar. The staff was friendly and the bartender was patient as I asked a couple of menu questions and later had to exchange my alcoholic drink for a non-alcoholic one. The food was just OK, I've had better Thai food at causal mom and pop spots. For appetizers we had wings, salmon puffs and for the entree the duck and unfortunately these dishes didn't have that freshly prepared and made to order taste. I would still say give it a try maybe a different night or different dishes will yield different results. Sidenote - a specific but notable restaurant feature that I appreciate is a clean, esthetically pleasing bathroom area with sinks separate from the toilets.

Genuine good unique one of a kind Thai food. Everything went well and the food and drinks were de, we ordered the MUK GOONG KAI KEM(Squid and Prawns with Duck's Yolk). It was much better than I had expected and the flavor was very unique and well rounded. The Green curry was also made really well and it was just the right spice we had asked for. chicken satay is their special kind of spring roll but we also got veggie spring roll for the vegetarian in our party and both were delicious. The ugly duckling cocktail was delicious and had a really noticeable aftertaste that tasted delicious with a nice kick to it. Service was very nice and efficient. Easy 5/5

Speedy and friendly service. Gorgeous ambiance. Food is spectacular! Scallop skewers were sweet and savory and the perfect starter for two people. Coconut sea bass was light and flaky and full of flavor. Must get the Koong Tod Kleu which is sautéed fried shrimp in a shrimp tomalley sauce that was my absolute favorite dish for the night. Great drinks too!

Celebrated a birthday dinner here recently and Thai Villa definitely delivers on flavor and atmosphere. Located in the Flatiron District, the restaurant feels like stepping into another era -- ornate Thai décor, warm lighting, and beautifully detailed interiors that make the whole experience feel a little special from the moment you walk in. We did make a reservation (thank you, Resy -- and my Amex Platinum definitely came in handy for booking), but just a heads up: everyone in your party has to be present before they seat you. When we arrived there was still quite a crowd and we had to wait a bit, which seems pretty common here given how popular the place is. Once seated, the food was truly the highlight. The flavors were incredibly authentic and thoughtfully prepared. We ordered a variety of dishes to share along with drinks and desserts, and everything was packed with rich Thai spices and balance. You can really tell this isn't just typical takeout-style Thai food -- the dishes feel refined and carefully crafted. The only downside of the evening was the time limit on the table. After spending over $250 on dinner, we were told there was a strict two-hour seating window and were asked to wrap up fairly quickly. I completely understand restaurants needing to manage reservations, especially in busy Manhattan dining rooms, but we probably just needed another 10-15 minutes to finish our conversation. It was a little surprising since we had also waited quite a while before being seated. That said, the evening was still lovely overall -- great food, beautiful setting, and celebrating with good company always makes the experience better. If you're looking for elevated Thai cuisine in NYC with a gorgeous atmosphere, Thai Villa is definitely worth visiting. Just plan ahead, arrive with your full party, and be mindful of the dining time window.

First of all, the place has a nice waiting area to wait in for your whole party to join. You are then escorted to your table. The first thing I noticed was how hard they worked on the decor and the vibe of the place. It's elegant yet cozy and warm due to the light arrangement. As for the food itself, it was delicious and flavorful. We had the lamb, the chicken and a seafood dish with squid and crab, which was my personal favorite with the pineapple fried rice. They could be a bit more generous with the portions and the staff less pushy on drinks. Overall a great dining experience. The menu is quite extensive so I need to go back to try more things.

Went in for lunch and it was packed! I was surprised there were so many people in during lunch on a random Thursday. Since I was a part of 1, I got seated immediately at the bar. There is a lunch special which made everything a bit more of a better deal, although if you're looking for purely low price points, there are plenty of cheaper thai lunch specials in chelsea. The food was pretty good, and I really enjoyed the mushroom soup that comes with the lunch special. I got the Pad See Ew was nothing too memorable or spectacular, but also not bad. I feel like maybe some of their other larger entrees or curry may be more outstanding. The staff are all super courteous and helped you immediately. I got a thai iced tea and that was really sweet. Be prepared to wait or order ahead!

Found another gem with my trusty Yelp. In the City doing a little retail therapy with my girls and found Thai Villa. We didn't have a reservation but with a little wait we got seated at the bar. Very friendly service from the bar crew or should I call them mixologists? Order our cocktails which were delicious. Placed our orders with a few good suggestions. Orders came out quickly, considering the amount of to go orders going out and a packed restaurant. Everything was tasty and delicious Ambiance was very nice. We would definitely come again and next time will make reservations

Papaya Salad

Service was good, had a reservation for 6PM on a Saturday and was seated within 5 min. It's a big space with plenty of seating but it can get a little loud. Papaya salad had a good kick, fresh and good texture. Chicken satay was good, tender and yummy sauce For the table we also got the green curry, massamun curry, pad se-ew and the new lamb special. The lamb was our favorite by far, good flavors and with slight smoky finish. The massamun curry was nice too. The green curry and pad se-ew were on the sweeter side. There was also pineapple in the green curry which was new for us, not sure if we loved it. Also got the Thai Coffee, loveddd. Thai Iced Tea, a staple n yummy. I think overall still a good place to go but I used to come here more often and feels like quality has gone down a little bit since.

Reserved dinner for 4 on a Friday night. Promptly seated and waiter came by a couple of times to ask if we are ready within 10 mins. Ambiance is lively, intimate, and dimly lit inside. Thai tea is overly sweet, tea flavor is lacking, also watered down all at the same time, needs work for sure. We only got one appetizer - scallop skewers, one order comes with two skewers, two scollops on each. Perfectly cooked, flavorful, and juicy, would definitely get it again. The entrees were great though, we got the beef curry, pad see ew, pad kee mao, and Royal pad thai. No notes! Another thing is that this place is very fast paced, the server(s) kept coming by to take away dishes, felt like they were hinting at us to get going so they can seat another group...

Beautiful interior. Accommodated my dietary request to omit onions and garlic. Loved the old fashioned.

Rice roll
Christopher C.

One of my favorite thai spots in the city. Used to come here with my sister and try the classics like the pad thai, pad see ew, and the basil fried rice. We've been avid delivery orderers, but coming in person was the move. Got to try the new appetizer rice roll (I'm forgetting the name, but the sauce was excellent) and the panang short rib curry. Wish the wait wasn't so long! Cheers!

Moo Yang Mung Kood (Grilled pork with Mangosteen)

Thai Villa was a beautiful dining experience from start to finish, though it was more packed and smaller than I expected inside. The atmosphere is still stunning and really well designed, but it does get quite noisy, especially when it's busy. We started with the vegetable spring rolls, which were absolutely delicious--honestly some of the best I've ever had. The vegetable dumplings, however, weren't really for me, and I'd probably skip those next time. The honey BBQ marinated pork was incredible--really flavorful and cooked perfectly. The standout for me was the pad see ew with shrimp, which was definitely one of the best I've had. Service was also excellent. Our waitress was attentive, kept our water filled, and paced the meal nicely without bringing everything out at once, which I really appreciated. Overall, great food and service in a beautiful space, just be prepared for a smaller, very busy and lively restaurant. Would definitely go back.

What is the noise level?

We had no issues with noise levels and were able to easily communicate within our party of 7.

Do they serve alcohol?

Yes they do! They have a great cocktail list!

So is everything halal? Because I see you guys serve pork? First of all thank you for answering, but…

Are they delivering now?

Yes they are

Is all the meat halal? is the restaurant partially halal?

They serve pork. It's not halal.

Do you have your own parking lot? Is a safe neibor hood parking on the street?

They do not have a parking lot it is on 19th street if you go at night you will find parking right on the block

Is there parking close by?

Plenty of street parking

Do they rush you out if it is getting close to 3:15?

No... 3:15 is the kitchen closed. I arrived 10min before 3 pm they just asked us to order everything at once, food was served fast, and the server came to our table again to ask if we had to order more (final call when is 3:15)

Washroom location (ie - need to use stairs)?

Do not have to use stairs. It is towards the back of the restaurant.

Do they have happy hour on weekends?

Do they have outdoor heaters? Are they on yet?

There are heaters.

Do I need to show my vaccination card if I take a outdoor seating?

No that's only for inside. You can still go inside for bathroom use without vax card. But you can call and ask to make sure

Will I need a reservation for a Monday for lunch for 5 people?

You can use RESY app to make reservation.

Can I bring my baby?

Yes.

Is there indoors dining?

Yes

Is the meat halal?

No it is not halal. It is Regular meat

Is there anything special you could have for someone's birthday?

They'll provide a candle if you order dessert, but nothing for free. In fact, if you bring anything in, like a cake or even just a single slice of cake, they charge you $5 per person for having that.

Can this restaurant accommodate large parties?

I believe the largest party they can accommodate is 6 people for the time being

It shows curbside pickup is not available. Is this accurate? Was really hoping to drive into Manhattan tomorrow in the afternoon and know street parking is always difficult. Please advise. Thanks

You can't really park around this area. But you can order in advance and pick it up, if you come with someone to do so quickly while you are waiting in a car or you have to drive around. I've done it, but tricky.

I'm wondering when is the last order for the restaurant? Does the restaurant closed at 22:15 sharp…

Last order is at 22.00. You can still eat after 22.00 but you cannot order anything, not even drinks or coffee.

Both of us were starving, and I had put in a birthday request at the restaurant, so we decided to stay. The ambiance is classy, and this would be a great spot for a business dinner or date night. I ordered a massaman curry with roti and chicken ($29), and my friend ordered the chuchi shrimp ($30) and curry puff ($16). Prices are a bit above average for the portion size, but justified by the area. We both enjoyed our dishes; the flavors were on point! Then, for my friend's birthday, they gave us mochi ice cream and a card signed by the staff! That was a nice touch that overrode the restaurant week debacle. Service was fantastic. There were multiple check backs and water refills. I would recommend Sabai Thai for a fancy night out, and I would return to try other dishes.
