I saw this place by my job and figured I give it a shot. I know there is quite a few Vietnamese places by my job. There were some people sitting inside the restaurant but not to the point it was packed. The place looked like a small local joint. Very quiet and not much noise. I got combo C for $23. It consisted of a rice with grilled pork chop and an appetizer. I got summer rolls where there are shrimps and vermicelli inside the wrapped summer roll. The mint inside the roll brought in more flavor that made it very tasty. The summer rolls were very chewy though so I didn't really like that. Everything inside fell out. The rice was very tasty but they gave small portions! It did not even meet the top of the rim. Wish they gave more. Also some of the lettuces were pink with pink dots so I had to take them out of the rice platter and summer rolls. Also the prices outside of the restaurant did not match the prices inside the place. Inside had the correct prices so they should fix the outside sign.

Summer Roll still wrapped in plastic. Best I've ever had in NYC that I didn't make myself.

I've been several times now and I'm ALWAYS consistently satisfied. The menu is simple. The execution never fails. The price is commensurate with the location. Anytime I'm ordering I'm greeted with a friendly smile and the order is taken. The items never take more than 15 minutes (you can order online & fetch it without any waiting if you choose). This trip was just summer & spring rolls. I've eaten at Hello a couple times. Simple table seating (14 capacity maybe?). I love Hello Vietpho & suspect you will too!!

I optioned for the sandwich combo pork belly spicy (jalapeños), and summer rolls as the appetizer. The tray was not delivered to my table, I had to get up to retrieve. The decor is simple as it designed to sit and eat. The sandwich Banh mi was big enough to indulge lunch the next day.

i've tried everything from the menu except for the banh mi. the grilled meats over rice, vermicelli, the grilled meats over rice and the pho have all been excellent. the prices are about the same as what you find in Chinatown portion sizes are around the same as well maybe slightly smaller but I always get my orders to go. if you're trying to get your Vietnamese fix this is the place for down in Fidi. very limited seating for dine in so come early if you wanted to sit there and eat .

I love this tiny spot. I'm currently obsessed with Vietnamese-style pork chops, which I order with rice. They do have a reasonably priced lunch special. I usually order the Combo C, which includes a rice or vermicelli platter with a protein of choice, an appetizer, and a soda. All for about $19. Other lunch specials are available. Overall, 4 stars -- I like this place.

A true hole in the wall - only 5 tables seating 2 each - yet popular with the lunch crowd. There are plenty bad reviews on Yelp but I find this dive adequate and nice. The girl at the counter was super friendly and efficient, the food was fresh, clean and tasty. Don't expect authenticity - for that, you are better off at a larger, more expensive Vietnamese establishment. Here you get a quick meal with Vietnamese flavors - not the real deal, but not too far off either. I was just happy to enjoy a bowl of vegetarian Pho, with quantities of plump and juicy mushrooms :-)

Just got to nyc and were so tired. Tried to find a nice pho place near the house and was excited to try this place. Cannot say it was fantastic however it's a cute little hole in the wall. The pho broth felt good in my tired body and the pho wasn't terrible. It's basically a flat three star. The lady behind the counter was nice and very effective. The food came out pretty quickly and seemed like a lot of walk ins for take out. The ac was blasting but I heard someone say that the last time they came the ac was turned off. However they also came later towards closing time. Of course! The pho was eaten and appreciated but I cannot rave too much. The broth was very light in flavor as in spices however it did its job. I think if you're wanting a quick bite that isn't too strong flavored and it's decent and decently priced for nyc then this is the place.

Loved the young lady at the counter! She was so friendly! Bought a classic and shrimp bahn Mi spicy and it didn't disappoint! Idk if they have Vietnamese versions of jalapeños but them suckas was HOT! Lol didn't expect that! Washed down with the most delicious green tea lemonade, had a floral taste, idk what it was but it was heavenly, must try!

Very small portion compared to other Vietnamese restaurant. Hungry after the meal. Won't come back.

I stopped by here to grab a pho upon searching on yelp. I am not so sure what to say about this place. I never ever seen Vietnamese restaurants who do not carry Siracha sauce.. they do have chili sauce but even this was all empty on every single tables. My mother and I had to squeeze out every single last drop out of three bottles. Pho does have good broth but that is about it.. summer roll was just like every other summer rolls I tried at any other Vietnamese places. Will not come back.. still have three stars for decent service.

Good tasting pho, broth is flavorful. A little greedy on the protein and not the best cuts imo. Decent price, $15 for a bowl. Pretty quick.

I got the pho ($21.78), which is steep for pho, but I guess that's Midtown prices for you. The wait was a slog--over 20 minutes for a bowl of pho, which other Yelp reviews warned about. When it finally arrived, the soup lacked that authentic pho aroma, which was a letdown. On the plus side, the beef was fresh, and the reusable to-go bag was a nice touch. Decent, but the wait and price make it hard to love. Might try again if they speed things up.

I ordered "Plain Pho", which is described as just broth and noodles, no garnish or meat. After waiting 30 minutes, for what is literally the simplest item on the menu, the bowl is brought out and it's a bowl of broth with a couple slices of chicken. No noodles. When I inquired, the server told me it's because I ordered the Plain Pho... yea and I said it comes with noodles and broth. They told me they could get me noodles, but acted like they were doing me a favor by fetching noodles for me, which was quite offputting because the noodles were quite literally half of the dish I actually ordered. How does one wait half-an-hour at a very casual fast Vietnamese food place, for premade soup and noodles, and still have the order wrong? In the end, I did get my noodles and broth, but the fact that I had to spend this much time and also justify my request for noodles (which are part of the dish) is quite insane. I put this at 2 stars for now, because I enjoyed my first time. Hopefully the service will improve.

So when my family stumbled into Pho 39, a tiny spot with just a handful of tables tucked away from the chaos outside, it felt less like finding a restaurant and more like discovering a Rebel outpost that somehow survived undetected in the middle of Imperial territory. The menu is exactly what you'd expect from a solid Vietnamese spot: pho, combination rice plates, the usual lineup. We were ready to order and move on with our lives. Then we saw the tacos. Vietnamese tacos. On the menu. Sitting right there between the banh mi and the spring rolls like they'd always belonged. Nobody in my family said anything for a full three seconds, which for us is basically a standing ovation. We ordered the duck spring rolls to start, which were fresh, well packed, and disappeared faster than a starfighter in hyperspace. For the mains we went with the beef flank pho and the banh mi combination special. The pho had a clean, well developed broth that clearly had some time put into it, and the beef flank was tender enough to make you slow down and pay attention. The banh mi combo was solid, balanced, and hit all the right notes. We did not get the tacos this visit, which means we have a built in reason to return and nobody can argue with that logic. For a small room in the middle of one of the busiest cities on the planet, Pho 39 manages to feel genuinely calm and focused. Good food, good value, and a menu with enough surprises to keep things interesting. The Force is strong with this little spot.

The restaurant has an open-kitchen concept, which is nice because you can see the kitchen, but you can also feel the heat coming from it. With the front door left open, the summer heat was coming in as well, making it extremely hot inside. There were also quite a few flies circling around, which I'm assuming was partly due to the door being left open. That made the dining experience less comfortable, especially while eating. I would've given 5 stars for the food because it was delicious, but the heat, flies, and overall dining environment really took away from the experience. I'd definitely come back for the food, but I hope they find a better solution for keeping the restaurant cool and comfortable during the summer months.
