1st time customer... I was wondering by my work, looking for lunch. I was craving banh mi sandwiches and saw this place had combos included by me, spring roll and a beverage for about $20. Of course that sounds like a good deal and it was. I ordered the crispy fish sandwich, lychee black tea with boba and vegan BBQ spring roll. I sat they're waiting for my order aunt to eat my lunch. I can see it's a small staff and they prepare an order at a time. I enjoyed the crispy fish sandwich cuz the tartness of the pickled daikon & carrots and the bit of cilantro balanced each bite. The vegan BBQ meat in the spring roll was delicious, wish there was more of it. The wrap and the noodles... think needed more soaking time or cooking time. The lychee black tea with boba was sweet. The Inside is nice and quiet unlike most places in Chinatown. I came here for bubble tea since it was only five minutes away from the place I was staying at. I got two drinks: a rose green milk tea and a rose black milk tea with tapioca. Super cute cafe, great bubble teas! They use a real tea base of jasmine green tea or earl grey, not just the blended powder stuff you find at many bubble tea places. We got taro milk tea and rose milk black tea, adding in boba and lychee jelly, respectively, both very good. (Though the add-ins got mixed up, it was fine as we still enjoyed our drinks.) It was a refreshing pick-me-up between our walk from FiDi to the Seaport. Did not get to try the banh mi or other food (Vietnamese and fusion?) so my review does not speak to that. read more

Big fan of Wolf Forest Cafe! This place is a fast, casual lunch spot, serving Vietnamese food and boba tea in Financial District. You order at the counter for takeout, but there are a few small tables and individual seats if you'd like to eat there. I've never seen the cafe too crowded so seats are generally open. I usually get the vegetarian chicken summer rolls and it's great if I'm in the mood for a lighter meal. It's also very flavorful and delicious. The staff is super friendly and the service is fast. The ambiance is open and friendly with four couch seating areas and a set of high chairs lined along the window. The menu had a variety of Vietnamese salad bowls, banh mi, summer rolls, air fried snacks, and tortilla rolls, even burgers and crossaint sandwiches. They had a variety of smoothies and bubble teas served for hot and cold. I ordered the Tiger Shrimp Summer Roll, Citron Honey Hot Tea, Air fried shrimp tempura, and air fried spring rolls. Personally, the air fried shrimp tempura and air fried spring rolls were not worth ordering. However, the summer roll and hot tea were worth getting. The summer roll was packed with vermicelli noodles, lettuce, and 2 large shrimps cut in half thinly. The sauce was plain peanut butter sauce. I was already full with one summer roll. I stopped by around 4PM as I wanted to grab a quick bite to eat, and had seen they had multiple vegetarian options. I can only speak to the crispy vegetarian chicken summer roll, as that was the only thing I ordered. It took about 10 minutes to come out. There was nothing special about it, but the taste was OK and it was definitely a large portion. The only ingredients are rice noodles, cucumber, the vegetarian chicken and a piece of iceberg lettuce. The peanut sauce was very tasty, although would have been better at room temperature. The vegetarian chicken was decent for soy-based meat. I ate half there and half at home, which did fill me up. The rice paper was rather sticky which made eating it without utensils difficult. I would stop back by and try a bubble tea, but probably would go elsewhere for a summer roll. After walking around the Financial District for more than 30 minutes, I stumbled upon the Wolf Forest Cafe which felt like an oasis in the middle of a desert. I was previously introduced to Vietnamese cuisine through a Yelp Elite event so I was excited about this cafe. After glancing at the massive menu above the order counter, I had to try the marinated grilled chicken banh mi sandwich + the passion fruit smoothie. Although my lunch hour was nearly over, takeout was not an option. I planned on dining in for the full effect. The seasoned chicken, lettuce, carrot, white radish, cucumber, cilantro, and jalapeno pepper will awaken your senses. Each bite was packed with freshness, flavor, and texture. I was invigorated. Food is fuel because this meal was the perfect combination on a summer day. I could not and have not stopped talking about my experience at the Wolf Forest Cafe. I walked back to my office with menus in hand to share with my colleagues. I even went back the next day for the same sandwich but this time I tried the pineapple smoothie and brought along two colleagues. There was plenty of shredded carrots and daikon radish to add a satisfying chew. 5/5 bahn mi! I ordered the fried spring rolls on accident. I actually wanted fresh spring rolls. But I had no regrets! They were so soft and creamy on the inside... Finally the Thai tea. I went for 50% sweetness and it was just right. It was also massive! I felt pretty wired after drinking that whole thing. Both tasted fine, nice toast on the bread, so it was the right texture, but overall nothing to write home about. The food I would prob give 3.5 stars. Not enough meat in the Banh Mis. Putting lettuce in it was also weird. Pickled carrots and daikon were standard. Again, just nothing special about the food. In a neighborhood with a lot of competition, they are already starting off as the 3rd best Banh Mi option in the area. This place uses a chipotle sauce instead of Vietnamese mayo which makes it not authentic, but still tastes amazing. I got the chicken one and it was so tender and flavorful. I'd give it a 3.5/5 - I got the pork bahn mi and while it was good, the bread was kind of disappointing. Within my first bite, it kind of fell apart. I toasted the other side of the sandwich's bread and it was much better. For me, the meat and the bread are #1 and #2 priorities. The marinated pork was pretty good! I love the amount of japaleno they shove in there, really a nice kick of spice to the sandwich. Good mayo ratio.
