I've tried basically every fried chicken spot in OC and this has to be the best so far especially if you like crispy fried chicken. Best crispiness by far. The owner is nice and gives everyone free samples. He always says "chicken numba one!" And it's true. They have some other things but what stands out the most is their fried chicken, the portions are big for the price, and they have the biggest chicken sandwich around. Great value. Pictured here is the "crispy wings 4 piece". Which was what ultimately made me put Bao Chick as my top 2 best fried chicken spot. And it's not number 2. It's numba 1.
Must order the chicken sandwich when you come to Bao Chick. It is perfectly seasoned and the portion size is ridiculous. Stopped by during the lunch hour after seeing social media posts about this hidden gem. I order the double chicken sandwich and although in the pricey side ($20) it is a must try. The chicken is crispy and flaky on the outside and juicy and tender on the inside. I've had plenty of chicken sandwiches in my day and this is top 3, no question. Ordering was quick and I was able to score some sample dumplings from the cashier while I waited. This is in a food court so the eating area is shared with other eateries. Get here early during lunch time if want to get a parking spot. It gets crowded.
Got Bao Chick takeout and it is a very unique chicken sandwich. The flavor is very good and the crunch is insane. Its also huge, the picture doesn't do it justice. Fries were also super tasty. One critique would be that the chicken still had the fat on it, which made some bites chewy. Overall I'd return and eat again!
Unbelievable!!! The best fried chicken sandwich I've ever had. I got the original chicken sandwich and I'm blown away. They give you the option of getting a breast or a thigh, which I thought was very unique! It was so juicy and flavorful and I'm not sure what the coating is on the chicken but even with the mayo the crunch held up nicely!! Now I thought my regular sandwich was big but oh man did we learn it's not! My husband thought the insane chicken sandwich meant it was spicy but no it meant TWO chicken patties on the sandwich! It was huge!!!! It comes with the same option of breast or thigh, however the original sandwich when you order, you have the option of how spicy you were like the chicken but the insane sandwich does not offer that which my husband took as confirmation that it was their spicy sandwich but it was not spicy at all. Just something to keep in mind! Still a great sandwich! We also got the grilled Bao & Pork and another 10/10! Again, the words flavorful comes to mind when describing these! If you're gonna come, I definitely recommend these as well as the sandwich! We made our meals a combo, which let us get the macaroni and cheese and the french fries. Nothing stands out too much about those two sides. They were very standard. Very good, but nothing very wow. Especially compare to the mains! The service was quick and easy. You come order at the self order kiosk or the gentlemen at the register, you get given a buzzer and you'll just wait. I would say that amount of time that we waited was only 10 minutes at most! This is just a small restaurant in a whole cafeteria, so keep that in mind when you go! It wasn't too hard to find seating but this place is definitely packed! Bao chick was a amazing found! This place is definitely getting recommended anytime someone's ask me what's good to eat in the area!
The chicken dumplings were the star of the meal. Super juicy with a great meat-to-skin ratio. The filling was very well seasoned, and the dumpling skin was thin but sturdy enough that it didn't rip easily. The wasabi fried chicken was also really good. Made fresh to order (about 15-20 minutes), and it came out extremely juicy and well seasoned. The wasabi flavor didn't really come through, but the portions were huge! Definitely a great place for shareables!
A guy waved us over happily and offered us a free sample. As I was deciding what i should order he offered a tender to try as well! The chicken sandwich was top notch(get the thighs) and perfectly breaded. As you can see for the tenders there's not just 12 it's a MOUND and the dipping sides pair amazingly. Definitely try it out if you want some good chicken!
After perusing the options within the food court, Bao Chick caught my attention. Rather than the fried chicken, it was the lamb soup decal (in Mandarin) by the stall that led me to make my lunch order. The Chinese couple running the stall were quite enthusiastic in getting people to sample their fried chicken. I ended up ordering the lamb soup ($16) and a large fried chicken fillet ($9). After paying at the counter and taking a pager, I got my order after another 5 minutes. The husband running the stall (I assume) explained, with the same enthusiasm as before, which chili oil was for the soup and which was for the chicken. The lamb soup proved savory and flavorful without being too heavy. It was a touch oily, but easily cut with the bowl of rice. The soup contained plentiful protein, from lamb meat to stomach and other offal. The fried chicken filet lived up to its name. The meat remained juicy and tender throughout, The breading was flaky and buttery. It had a softer texture to it. I quite enjoyed it, though I definitely was already full from the soup. Overall, I would not have expected a food court stall to have such delicious food, especially one serving both fried chicken and lamb soup.
Wow super impressed by this fried chicken/dumpling spot in Irvine! Located in a cute mini food court area, Bao Chick was one of the first to open and the dude who worked there was saying that he had #1 fried chicken wings and I was skeptical but intrigued. Ordered the wings, some XLBs and potstickers and didn't have to wait too long for them. Homeboy was right- these were some of the best wings I've had! Crispy crunchy piping hot juicy flavorful without being too salty. Also the dumplings were fire especially those juicy XLBs and the made from scratch potstickers. Wish it was closer to me- I'd be there every day for lunch!
I was born in China, so I'd say I'm pretty confident in being able to judge a Chinese food. This is easily one of the BEST Chinese food in all of SoCal. I'm shocked they aren't more famous. Both times I've been here the owner (I think it's him) sees me and before I can even finish saying 你好 (nihao, hello) he's got a sample of dumplings in my hand. The dish I've pictured is something called Cold Lamb. A better translation would be "cold-prepared lamb" but don't let the name fool you, it will be one of the best things you've ever eaten. Huge portions of meat, slathered in chili oil, with sliced cucumbers and lots of roasted peanuts. Then there's the amazing chili oil dipping sauce and a dipping powder that Im going to be thinking about for weeks. This meal was about 30 bucks but it comes with so, so much food that you could easily split it between two people. Will definitely be coming here any time I'm at SNA!
Best service I've ever had. Before I even ordered, the guy working there gave me a sample of the chicken. I ended up ordering the Chicken Sandwich and Garlic Parmesan Fries. He also made sure we were eating everything with the sauce and seasoning that came with it. You could tell he was genuinely passionate about the food and took pride in the store, and that's what made the experience stand out to me and makes me want to come back. The portions were huge. Everything was good, and the chicken was super crunchy, juicy, and flavorful. I'd definitely come back and bring my friends.

Came to this shopping plaza looking for curry but the curry place was closed so we gave this place a try. We got the insane chicken sandwich with fries. The insane chicken sandwich WAS insanely spicy, so next time we'll get a lower spice level - that mistake was on us. It was so cool that the bun was black! I had high hopes given the 4.5 star reviews, but was a tad disappointed...tried the Nashville chicken sandwich (medium hot), wings (hot), and fries. I liked the fries more than the chicken unfortunately. The Nashville sandwich had poor meat to bun ratio and the batter of the chicken was too thick for my liking. Additionally, the sauce (I think it's some kind of mayo or ranch) that comes with the sandwich and on the slaw were sweet and overpowering any spiciness of the chicken. It wasn't bad, just wasn't the most flavorful sandwich. The wings were a bit better, but the spicy powder was only dusted on the outside of the batter at the end Vs actually rubbed on the chicken. The batter was crispy, but again not as flavorful as expected. You get 2 sauces for free (but you have to ask for them since the ordering machine didn't have an option to add them) - the garlic aioli was good, but the Chicciety sauce (their version of the chick-fil-a sauce I think?) was tasteless and should be avoided! read more

I stumbled across Chicciety after coming to the TRADE food hall in search of something new to try. I decided to get the grilled bao with pork after the kind store owner gave me a sample, and let me tell you, it was the best decision I made that day. Each bao was crispy on the outside, filled completely with juicy pork, and finished with a savory furikake and green onion topping. I especially loved dipping the bao in the chili oil provided with the meal. Each bite left me craving more. I can't wait to come back and reorder this dish! read more

Upon walking up to this lil gem, it nested in a food court. The ONLY downside is parking is super tight. Upon coming into the courtyard, y the chicken displayed stuffed animals. Very eye catching and yet there is no one there to greet you. You order on the portal and make sure to jit add after each entry. Once you have placed your order, you get a text that food is ready. We grabbed our food and Luis the cook came out and hand-delivered the food and shared their secret sauce. I was very impressed with the taste of the food, and the quick service. Again, this is a contactless kiosk. The menu and pictures speak for themselves. Glad I got the chicken breast sandwich. I was able to share with my hubby. I totally recommend this place for a quick bite. Plenty of seating, & restrooms. I was very impressed. I will go again, and recommend. read more

In 2019, Popeyes and Chik-fil-A famously began what would later be known as "The Chicken Sandwich Wars." Many lives were lost (chicken lives that is), and no one emerged as the clear victor. I'm here to tell you that the war that was has now been won. Chicciety is king. I've had many a chicken sandwich in my day. Popeyes, Chik-fil-A, KFC, Dave's Hot Chicken, McDonalds, Holdaak... the list goes on and on. Never before have I taken a bite of a chicken sandwich and just stare at it in awe and reverence like I did today. It was just pure bliss. I could go on about the soft brioche bun, the perfect spread to sandwich ratio, the deliciously crunchy yet subtly flavored pickles, and the immaculately juicy yet perfectly crispy jumbo chicken filet, but to be honest, it's just something you have to experience for yourself. I would definitely recommend eating it as soon as it comes out so that you can enjoy it in its made-to-order, piping hot goodness, but if you have to order it for takeout I'm sure it'll survive the drive home or to work. I ordered the Nashville Chicken sandwich which definitely had some heat to it, although I wouldn't classify it as a mouth-burning "spicy" chicken sandwich. The flavor was great though and went perfectly with a refreshing coke. One thing I love in particular about Chicciety which I haven't seen anywhere else is that they ask you if you want breast or thigh meat for your sandwich. I'm a thigh guy through and through, so the fact I could choose was a huge plus. I am curious to see how the breast compares since the thigh was otherworldly, but I don't think I'll have to wait long to find out because there's no way I can keep myself away from this place. My girls and I returned today after taking out from another place in the food court to try the chicken sandwich and pork dumplings. The boss greeted us and gave the girls a sample of a dumpling. I couldn't catch the dialect spoken at first, but it is Mandarin. The boss tried to communicate to us what was good to order. We ordered through the kiosk. One of the girls ordered the original chicken sandwich with fries and a drink. The other one with me ordered the 6 piece xiao long bao, the pan fried pork buns 10 pieces, crispy spicy chicken wings, and steamed egg. It was a to go order as one of us had to go to work. The one girl that had a soda with her lunch had wanted Coca Cola, but the boss was trying to tell her that the flavor was not good so she listened and had a Sprite instead. As we waited for our takeout order, we noticed a group of students having fried breadsticks from Chicciety (did we miss seeing that on the menu?) that we normally eat with porridge. They also had some hot drinks which we guessed was either hot soy milk or milk tea. We would return to have fried breadstick or Chinese donut. The chicken sandwich was huge. The meat was bigger than the bun and she was only able to finish the perimeter with the bulk still remaining. The fried chicken was freshly fried, temperature hot, and crisp with juicy meat and the one eating in the car on her way to work got all the crispy flakes from her chicken wing all over her dark uniform. She was able to brush it all off getting out of the car. After dropping her off, we ate the fried chicken with some green salad and Korean green onion salad we had at home. The steamed egg garnished with green onions sat in liquid which the one packing her meal for dinner spooned over her rice. The xiao long bao lifted up let out some broth. The dumplings and bao didn't require any sauce, but the one going to work chose the spicy sauce and we also got one of the other sauce that seemed soy sauce based. My first time at this outdoor food spot and it's really nice. Many different options to choose from but I decided on a chickensammmich! I ordered from them to go cause I was in a rush to get home but it was a lot of seating area at this place. They have a few version of the chicken to try with many different sauces to choose from. The cashier asked me if I wanted dark or white meat and I went with dark meat but she said that her favorite is the white so I'll try that next time. I was afraid it would be too dry for white meat but she said it's not so next time. The sandwich itself is huge like three pieces of chicken in it the bread was soft and nicely toasted. I asked for the garlic sauce and honey mustard. It wasn't too spicy so maybe next time I'll kick it up another notch. Fries do not come with it so if you want fries that'll be extra. The owner of this restaurant is the sweetest man ever. Before I even placed my order he let me try the carrot balls which were fresh, hot, and delicious. After I placed my order which was a super quick process, he gave me a free Chinese donut which was a foot long and scrumptious. Then he gave me a warm soy milk. Wow, the Nashville Chicken Sandwich here is BOMB.COM! (Do people still say that?) The first bite of the sandwich was impressive. The breading of the chicken was so crispy and airy. I was surprised by how juicy the chicken was (choose thigh instead of breast)! The bun was soft and sweet too. I wish you could customize the spice level, but it's not a dealbreaker. 10/10 would recommend! Also, shout out to Luis for great customer service! read more

First official chicken sandwich and I must say I'm glad it was here. I was skeptical cause the drive was far but this was worth it. So crispy yet so juicy. Luis the cook was super friendly and helped me choose my sauce and talked about my sandwich. Tasted amazing and really filling! read more

Food was ok, wasn't sure if we were going to eat there but the owner came out and peer pressured us into food. We had parmesan fries, fried chicken, wings, and shrimp boa., the chicken wings still had hair on them. I guess in culture of food like that it's kind of normal but for me that just doesn't work so didn't eat all of our food. The Parmesan fries literally had powdered Parmesan on it instead of fresh. Rating: 4.2/5 So after seeing this place on TikTok, I just had to try it. There is a lot of parking so no need to worry about that. It's also within this food market place where you can order from different restaurants. I got the nashville hot chicken sandwich (chicken thigh) with medium spice with beer battered fries. My other friend got their volcano chicken sandwich. For the nashville chicken sandwich, their medium spice was a good spice level. It wasn't too spicy but also you could taste the heat. They also give you a choice of breast or thigh and I went with thigh because of the fat content and I know it'd be juicy. As my instinct told me, I was right. The chicken was just so juicy and paired with the crispy battered, it was so good. One thing I did not like about the sandwich was the lack of flavor from the cole slaw! It was just bland and could've been better to help elevate this sandwich to a 5/5. As for their fries, they are so good. Battered nicely and just the right amount of crunch/crisp. It's also a good amount of fries so I recommend sharing it among 2 people. So they give you two free sauces with your sandwich and I had the chance to try all of their sauces (given that my friends also got different sauces) and I'll give my rating of them with the first sauce being the best and the last sauce to be trash/bland. Sauce ranking (in order from left to right where the left is the best and the worst is the right): Garlic aioli, buffalo, bbq, honey mustard, house fry sauce God damn the house fry sauce is utter trash. I thought that was going to be good since its their "house" fry sauce but it's just not even flavorful at all! No tang, no sweetness, or even saltiness. It's just so basic. Although the one sauce that provided the most flavor was the garlic aioli. That actually had a garlic taste which I like a lot and it was also so creamy. Definitely would get it again. But to pair the garlic aioli, you gotta get the buffalo sauce. Personally, I think their buffalo sauce is probably the best I've ever had. I would pay money for that (not a lot but I would). As for the other sauces, bbq tastes like burger king bbq sauce (not even joking) and honey mustard is also a little bland, worst than chick fil a honey mustard and mcdonalds honey mustard. If you're going to follow my advice, get the garlic aioli and buffalo, it will not let you down. Also, I love the sauce cups they give since I love my sauce and pretty much drown food in it. Service was okay. Nothing big to complain about except that if you don't order from the ipad, they don't give you snackpass points which made me sad. The environment was super nice! I thought that it being outside is super relaxing and chill. Although the night I went was super cold but definitely think during the day it would be amazing. Overall, given its price point (I paid roughly 22 dollars for fries and the burger), I would go again but not frequently. Until they improve their cole slaw and other food, I won't go here often. read more

My first impression was the sizable Nashville chicken sandwich. My second impression was the pool of oil at the bottom of the box! That aside, the chicken was moist and crispy as it should be. My wife said she didn't get cold slaw on her portion of the sandwich we shared but I imagine if there were more slaw, it would probably just fall out of the sandwich. The bun should be toasted a little more so it will not soak up the oil much. In fairness, I drove 20-30 minutes after picking up my sandwich so I wasn't eating it fresh off the fryer. I imagine there would be less oil in the box had I eaten it right on the spot. Under normal circumstances, that would be the case for fast food. All things considered, I give the benefit of the doubt to the business. It's a good value for $12. read more
I was really excited to see Chicciety open up at the Trade Food Hall. You can never have enough good fried chicken spots! What I love about them is they offer it all: sandwiches, wings, nuggets, strips and bone in pieces! I'm so sick of those places that only offer strips and nothing else. So far I've tried their nuggets, Nashville chicken sandwich and wings. I really loved their nuggets, they really remind me of a better version of the McNugget. The wings were also fantastic. They're huge, crispy, crunchy, flavorful and the batter is not overly thick or dense. I did enjoy the chicken sandwich. It was well prepared and had some great taste to it. It's not a hot chicken sandwich so it wasn't spicy but you do get some of the Nashville flavor profile. Having said that I probably wouldn't get it again. It's marginally better than Popeye's chicken sandwich so at 3x's the price it's not a good value. It's no knock against Chicciety it's just that Popeye's has done a phenomenal job at making a really affordable world class fried chicken sandwich. I've never had chicken dumplings/boa/potstickers that were so good. They make everything by hand here and the flavors are amazing. Nothing comes frozen. The bao is so fresh and delicious. 10/10 read more

Yes. All of our wings are bone in. Most of them are crispy crunch style. Also we have teriyaki and buffalos wings are grill style.
