How nice! They donate surplus food to feed those in need.
    Melinda B.

Soup N Spud offers hearty comfort food, and some lighter fare, with a smile. It's hard to find baked potatoes year round, and this is a delicious and great find! It's located in an unassuming food court called the Mess Hall. The pros: The giant Idado baked potatoes are cooked to perfection. The portion easily will last two meals. There are other lighter options: salads, fresh fruit, soups and amazing looking grilled cheese sandwiches with lots of choices for fillings (will try next time). It's also nice to see they donate surplus ingredients to meals for those in need. The cashier and cook were very friendly. Opportunities: Most of the spuds come with pickled onions, which adds a strong sour/vinegar taste. Personally, I would customize my order in the future to leave those off. Thankfully, they allow customization. Another opportunity might be to offer a potato soup in the winter months. Hot tip: It's relaxing to sit on the patio surrounded by a tree-lined walking path.

Are you kidding me? A $8 veggie sandwich with these many generous fillings? This is was out of this world FIRE!!! This was such a surprise spot for us that we both ended up loving! It looks just as amazing as it tastes! Thank you so much!

If you're craving grilled cheese then 100% go here. Food: I would highly recommend the grilled cheese with tomato soup. I have also tried the baked potatoes, clam chowder (their portion for the clam chowder is small compared to tomato soup), and the grilled cheese with brisket (good but not that much better than the regular grilled cheese). It does take 15-20 minutes to get your order but I think that's how they get the cheese melt so perfect. I will say we're disappointed the second time we went bc the bread was grocery store bread instead of the artisan/Texas toast style bread. This made the sandwich look smaller. My guess is that they had ran out.

such a delicious and healthy lunch option!! their soup and salad combo is such a great deal. the tomato basil soup was so good and their chophouse salad w brisket is super filling and fresh ! i also tried their smoothie which was so refreshing and yummy. great service too and plenty of seating areas.

My Steakhouse Chop salad & Clam Chowder (all so fresh!)

My cravings got satisfied in so many ways from trying out the combo of half soup & half salad with Clam Chowder & Steakhouse Chop! First, the portions are generous and all so fresh! This isn't just store bought clam chowder. You'll notice huge chunks of bacon and clams like never before! The salad is not overly dressed with so many different textures and layers topped off with tender steak. It not only has croutons but crunchy fried and pickled onion along with cheese chips hidden inside! The staff was so friendly and enjoying all of this goodness outside on a patio are all recipe for an amazing day! Do yourself a favor and give this place a whirl :)

Amazing. First time here most definitely satisfied a pregnancy craving I did not know even existed. Will definitely be back. The service was great super friendly and quick. Definitely great energy from the staff. I got a brisket spud that was huge and loaded caught attention of people passing by for sure. Highly recommend

Went here on a whim and did not expect the huge portions. Food is made which fresh ingredients from scratch. What a hidden gem!

Solid work, have been twice, will keep coming back. Tomato basil is hearty, a little spicy. Grilled cheese has a good pull, good toast on solid bread. Chicken melt is A+. Marked down because the clam chowder is not a chowder, maybe today they forgot the roux? Also it takes a bit longer to get your order than you'd want but nothing awful, and the made to order quality is there.

Everything we ordered was great. Our favorite was the Steakhouse chop, but two of the soups were very salty.

My bf got the beef garlic udon and i also liked that one too. Lots of beef and lots of flavor, but idk if id get that for myself. The service was also amazing. We were offered bibs and our waiter was a chill dude. He called my bf "boss" and i thought it was endearing. Id def come back and try other menu items! Interior is quite the Japanese vibes, it's not very spacious but spacious at the same time? We were seated near the counter and next to us were a table of two basically right beside me. Staff here is very efficient. They're quick and attentive. Orders were taken quickly and food came out in moderate speed. Around 20 minutes or so which is a bit slow but I heard that they take their time preparing the food, hence the higher quality. I'd say it's worth the wait for sure after trying our menu items. My wife ordered the Inaka Hot Soba and I ordered the Beef Curry. Both are presented very beautifully. We also got a Crunchy Sushi Roll to share which was super delicious and a perfect appetizer before the main entrees. The Inaka Hot Soba was very delicious, it's similar to a mazesoba mix + bibimbap which both are one of my favorite dishes. Soba noodles were not tough at all and very savory. Many flavors mixed all in one bowl was the perfect dish overall. The beef curry was absolutely delicious as well. Filled with curry flavoring on the beef, it was not super overwhelming and it was very fulfilling overall. Absolutely love the portions as well. Overall, a amazing spot in Tustin that's lowkey hidden. Food is high quality and definitely made with care. Staff is fast and professional. Absolutely coming back in the near future to try their other menu items. They have more than just soba, sushi rolls, and curry. Excited to try their other sushi rolls + udon as well.

Their xiao long bao is also really good and definitely comparable to Din Tai Fung and Paradise Dynasty. Everything tasted incredibly fresh, and the dumplings and wontons were so moist and flavorful. The beef roll is a MUST. Unlike some places where it can be dry, theirs had the perfect amount of sauce and was so good. Also get the lava egg yolk steamed buns. So soft, moist, fresh, and delicious. But surprisingly, one of the biggest standouts was their drinks. They use real tea, and their taro milk tea completely changed my mind about taro drinks. Fresh taro mixed with real tea, perfectly balanced, and not overly sweet. I would literally come here just for the drinks. If you love boba, you need to try them. Just be prepared to wait because this place gets BUSY. Lunchtime was packed, and we came around 3 PM and were lucky to get a spot. Everything was so satisfying without feeling overly heavy afterward. Definitely one of my new favorite finds and a place I'll be coming back to again and again.

Overall, we still enjoyed our meal. What really upset me was how our leftovers were packed. We had quite a bit left and planned to save it for dinner. We asked for boxes, and one server kindly offered to pack everything for us. However, when we got home, we realized they left behind 3 pieces of our beef roll (one order comes with 6 pieces, and we had only eaten 3). There was also about half a plate of noodles left, but only a few bites were packed. We paid for all of the food and should have been able to take our leftovers home. We still enjoyed our meal here, but I'd recommend packing your own leftovers rather than having them packed for you.

We stopped by for lunch and ordered a pad see ew, a green Thai curry lunch special and a crab lump fried rice. My daughter always orders pad see ew, that's the one dish she gets every single time. The presentation was beautiful. At first bite she dropped her fork and said "omg, mommy this is so good. It's the best!" My green curry was flavorful. I ordered it with pork. I thought they could've given a little more white rice but it does come with two egg rolls and a salad. All for $13.50! The crab fried was perfectly seasoned with a hint of sweetness. The rice wasn't mushy or anything. Just perfectly done. I thought the quality of the crab could be better, it was shredded in texture and tasted watered down. Maybe next time I'll just settle for the claw which is a little cheaper. All in one, it was a very good meal. We all enjoyed it very much!
