How nice! They donate surplus food to feed those in need.

Soup N Spud offers hearty comfort food, and some lighter fare, with a smile. It's hard to find baked potatoes year round, and this is a delicious and great find! It's located in an unassuming food court called the Mess Hall. The pros: The giant Idado baked potatoes are cooked to perfection. The portion easily will last two meals. There are other lighter options: salads, fresh fruit, soups and amazing looking grilled cheese sandwiches with lots of choices for fillings (will try next time). It's also nice to see they donate surplus ingredients to meals for those in need. The cashier and cook were very friendly. Opportunities: Most of the spuds come with pickled onions, which adds a strong sour/vinegar taste. Personally, I would customize my order in the future to leave those off. Thankfully, they allow customization. Another opportunity might be to offer a potato soup in the winter months. Hot tip: It's relaxing to sit on the patio surrounded by a tree-lined walking path.

Are you kidding me? A $8 veggie sandwich with these many generous fillings? This is was out of this world FIRE!!! This was such a surprise spot for us that we both ended up loving! It looks just as amazing as it tastes! Thank you so much!

If you're craving grilled cheese then 100% go here. Food: I would highly recommend the grilled cheese with tomato soup. I have also tried the baked potatoes, clam chowder (their portion for the clam chowder is small compared to tomato soup), and the grilled cheese with brisket (good but not that much better than the regular grilled cheese). It does take 15-20 minutes to get your order but I think that's how they get the cheese melt so perfect. I will say we're disappointed the second time we went bc the bread was grocery store bread instead of the artisan/Texas toast style bread. This made the sandwich look smaller. My guess is that they had ran out.

such a delicious and healthy lunch option!! their soup and salad combo is such a great deal. the tomato basil soup was so good and their chophouse salad w brisket is super filling and fresh ! i also tried their smoothie which was so refreshing and yummy. great service too and plenty of seating areas.

My Steakhouse Chop salad & Clam Chowder (all so fresh!)

My cravings got satisfied in so many ways from trying out the combo of half soup & half salad with Clam Chowder & Steakhouse Chop! First, the portions are generous and all so fresh! This isn't just store bought clam chowder. You'll notice huge chunks of bacon and clams like never before! The salad is not overly dressed with so many different textures and layers topped off with tender steak. It not only has croutons but crunchy fried and pickled onion along with cheese chips hidden inside! The staff was so friendly and enjoying all of this goodness outside on a patio are all recipe for an amazing day! Do yourself a favor and give this place a whirl :)

Amazing. First time here most definitely satisfied a pregnancy craving I did not know even existed. Will definitely be back. The service was great super friendly and quick. Definitely great energy from the staff. I got a brisket spud that was huge and loaded caught attention of people passing by for sure. Highly recommend

Went here on a whim and did not expect the huge portions. Food is made which fresh ingredients from scratch. What a hidden gem!

Solid work, have been twice, will keep coming back. Tomato basil is hearty, a little spicy. Grilled cheese has a good pull, good toast on solid bread. Chicken melt is A+. Marked down because the clam chowder is not a chowder, maybe today they forgot the roux? Also it takes a bit longer to get your order than you'd want but nothing awful, and the made to order quality is there.

Everything we ordered was great. Our favorite was the Steakhouse chop, but two of the soups were very salty.

Desert drink taste like a sweeter version of vitamin water which I like. 4.5/5 The cornbread which we got for free from the chef has a nice crunch to it which help battle the dryness and imo increase the flavor to it. 4/5 Gretchen's Jambalaya has this nice toasted bread which pairs well with stew and the stew itself has great flavor and will full you up. 4.5/5 I was craving southern food and this place hits the spot! Overall would rate this place 4.5/5 and would recommend other people to try this place!

It's not too heavy and it's not too creamy. It's a good balance. The chicken tenders are juicy but a little bit too greasy. The french fries fries are excellent. Definitely get the cornbread. That was probably the star of the Shiau.. The grilled chicken was really dry. The cabbage was OK. We had the chicken wings and again they were just OK. They're not breaded, which was really nice and the cook on them was OK with the flavor fell flat. The service is a little bit slow at times, but the servers are all really friendly. They should get five out of five for that. The pulled pork sandwich. I would pass Condiments. Ranch tasted watered down The bbq sauce was good

We finally gave it a shot today. We ordered the steamed pork belly, cold noodles, and the galbi soup. The food was very good. My mom was quite happy with the cold noodles and my kids consumed every drop of the galbi soup. My dad and I had the steamed pork belly and we agreed that it was pretty good. The part I want to really emphasize was the service. The young man that took care of us was very attentive and most importantly, treated my kids so well. He provided them with all their usual needs like plastic silverware, extra bowls for soup, and even offered extra soup when he saw that they devoured the galbi soup. He went out of his way to give them some BTS Edition Oreos and little bags with stickers in them. I am always very grateful anytime people take care to treat my kids well. I'm glad we decided to give this spot a try.

If you're going with a few people, the Braised Spicy Premium Beef Ribs with the flat glass noodles is definitely the move. The portion easily feeds two to three. The meat is super tender and just falls off the bone, covered in a rich, spicy sauce that has a nice kick to it. The flat glass noodles soak up all that sauce, and the chunks of kabocha squash add a slight sweetness that balances out the spicy, heavy beef. Service is super fast. You get your banchan pretty much the second you sit down, and the food comes out steaming hot without a long delay. If you're looking for a quick group lunch spot where you can split something huge and spicy, it's definitely worth coming here.

Exceptional--Possibly the Best Fried Chicken in Orange County…read more I was surprised to see a few negative reviews because our experience with Gus's Fried Chicken in Santa Ana was exceptional. This is some of the best fried chicken I've ever had. It has a true Southern-style flavor: perfectly seasoned, crispy on the outside, juicy inside, and just enough of a spicy kick without overpowering the chicken. The Louisiana hot sauce packets are nothing fancy, but the simple vinegary heat pairs perfectly with the chicken. The fried green tomatoes were excellent, and the barbecue baked beans were seriously good as well. My only regret is that we didn't order the collard greens and mac and cheese--I'll definitely be trying both next time. We ordered delivery, and everything arrived hot, neatly packaged, and in great condition. The customer service was also excellent. Even the leftovers reheated beautifully in the air fryer. For my taste, Gus's beats the Korean fried chicken spots, the other Southern-style chicken restaurants, Crack Shack, Raising Cane's, and the other popular fried chicken places around Orange County. The flavor and seasoning put it in a different category. Absolutely superb. Five out of five, and easily one of the best fried chicken experiences in Orange County.
