The new doctors continues with this practice and it is extremely hard to get accurate responsive phone service due to this. For example, I made an appointment over the phone and the outside service took the call I made it a point to ask them to be sure it was within the allotted time frame my insurance allows. I went to my appointment and it was outside of the time frame my insurance allows. Had I been able to call the office directly, they would have verified my medical records to ensure I would be able to claim the cost on insurance. Another time I left my glasses in the office, it was a challenge to get someone on the phone to check for me. I realize lots of office feel they must outsource their customer service calls but it just makes it so difficult, I've decided to just drive to the office whenever I have a question. Other than the phone service concern, I have to say that the new doctore, Dr Elgozy, is a kind and compassionate doctor. I feel well taken care of by his staff. First off, I don't like doctors, hospitals or anything medically-related; it's just depressing. Unfortunately, I have an autoimmune disorder, which makes the matter of like or dislike immaterial. Needless to say, I won the lottery when I found Dr. Sesin. He's an excellent physician, but an even better human being. Regrettably, there are few doctors who exude this trait, a distressing commentary on the medical profession these days. Dr. Sesin stands out because it's clear he sees himself as a human first, then as an upholder of the Hippocratic Oath. There is no arrogance in the man. In fact, I would hazard a guess that he doesn't take himself too seriously. But how he views his patients is especially telling. It's clear their well-being, their comfort, their sense of self is paramount to him. Bottom line, he eschews the clinical term: patients and instead, treats people with dignity, concern, often making them laugh with his awesome sense of humor. I've never had a doctor make me laugh. Imagine having one who makes you laugh even as you're suffering. And he's done it on several occasions. Wow. His office is in the Mount Sinai Medical Center complex. It appears he and his colleagues enjoy an active practice as the waiting room is always full. But there's no stagnancy, think Grand Central at rush-hour because the turn-around is incredible. His staff is friendly, compassionate and super-efficient. The office is run like a tight, technologically-advanced, ship. Wait time is, at best, minimal. And I, for one, have never felt rushed. Once, I waited for about an hour. It was last week. But let me be clear, the wait was not inefficiency; it was an act of kindness. I was in considerable pain. They squeezed me in, even though my standing appointment was in October. I read a magazine; I went downstairs to grab a cup of coffee; I read a few emails. I was hurting, but they squeezed me in. How about that? When I thanked Dr. Sesin for seeing me on short notice, he said, "it's not me; it's those guys out there. They tell me where to go, and I go." I was there when the office opened at 8:17am, which was later than I was supposed to arrive. My appointment was at 8:30am. I said there was a mistake and asked if she had my records and she confirmed they did. I indicated that I had a 85 year old in a wheelchair that I had to leave for the appointment and requested that I be seen anyway because there weren't any patients in the office and she was there. They refused saying they had 8:30am patients, I was there waiting until 8:40am and there were NO 8:30am patients in the office. The receptionist blamed ME for their scheduling service erroneously scheduling me with an Oncologist, when my medical records had been sent to them and she confirmed they were in their possession. How did that happen if I didn't make an appointment with Dr. Iglesias' office? I then called Mt. Sinai customer service who told me I had scheduled with an oncologist, which I did not. They then had the nerve to ask me what phone number I called. Very, very unprofessional and made no effort to escalate the situation. After this This might be a great Doctor but her staff is sloppy and she made no personal effort to rectify the situation. If there were an emergency I'm not sure you could count on this office or the Doctor to help you.
