I loved the nice and relaxed atmosphere of this bar. We came to watch the Seahawks and Cowboys game. The food was pretty decent. We ordered the carnitas nachos which was really tasty. The chips weren't soggy at the bottom which I was grateful. The Mr. said he wished there were more for the price that we paid. I didn't really have that thought though. I had the Impossible Burger which was on the dry side. The food runner actually dropped off my burger to the wrong table which was next to us. They ended up having to remake mine so I had to wait a little longer; mistakes happen! The Mr. ordered wings and garlic fries. His wings were dry also but the sauce was good. His fries were cold, like as if it sat out on the pass a bit. The game they had on from DirectTV kept going out but it was raining pretty bad outside so maybe that's what happened. My lady and I decided to finally try Bar 101 in Roseville this past Sunday morning. It was about 11:15 am, we were a little hungry and decided to swing by and give it a go. Nice, friendly, neighborhood bar atmosphere that included at least one video game, a pool table and electronic darts. We were the first two in the place that morning ... but soon we were joined by a guy who shot pool & drank beer, two couples having lunch and a family that include two young children (well behaved). I started with a club soda and a glass of Cabernet (Hess, I think) and my wife ordered a Chardonnay. The bartender ... who doubled as waitress for the tables ..... did a marvelous job ... on top of everything. Ultimately, I had the Grilled Chicken Cob salad and my partner tried the House Salad also with Chicken. Additionally, we selected the Fried Pickle Chips. The salads were very good, the fried pickles disappointing (soggy batter). My salad included a nice variety of mixed greens, corn, bacon, hardboiled egg and avocado plus onion. Cheddar cheese was a nice compliment and the vinaigrette dressing was super. Generous portions. Fair pricing for what you get ... give this establishment a try. read more

Popped by here a few weeks back for a free comedy show they were hosting, despite it being cold and rainy out, and I can definitely say that I have no regrets about going out! This is a cool little joint I'd have never known about otherwise, if it wasn't for a Reddit post one of the comedians made about being there. The drinks were pricey, but pretty typical for a spot like this (mixed drinks were around $10 and a beer was around $8). The food smelled good, but we'd already eaten before arriving. Yet, another place I do not get to visit regularly (or not nearly enough), off my beaten path, and a real treat. Let me start this by saying, I am so glad Yelp has the nearby link, because that is literally how we stumbled across Bar 101, and what a find it is! It does set a little bit out of the way (kinda) but not that far and fortunately I spent some time growing up in Roseville, so in the process of looking and navigating, I could reminisce, point out landmarks, and wax poetic a little bit. Patio seating, high and low tables inside, pool, a bar, and apparently as a neighborhood place, they also sport a Trivia and pint night, an open mic night of sorts, and is generally a fun place in Old Roseville to visit. Now, we've been here a few times since we found it and on of the dishes we have found that's become a regular is the nachos. Yeah, I know, you're thinking the WTFrench Toast? I'm here to say these are the bombdotcom nachos, especially when you get them with their carnitas! This alone is reason enough to venture off that beaten path, away from your norm, and love unbuttoning the top button on your slacks for the drive home. Offering the other usual pub faves, I can also vouch for the blue cheese bacon burger. That is sort of an understatement, truth is it's amazing! Another, oversimplified reason to deviate from the trail, hang out just a little bit longer, and not quite go home just yet. Tacos are also good as are the sammiches, the fish and chips, and pretty much everything on the menu. Staff is super friendly and also worth the visit, they've always been great, and I've always felt like I was being attended to by a friend; you're never an outsider here. We had a rough start with Bar 101 having sat down and waited to get our food. We saw others getting their food after coming in much later than us. We tried to be patient but were starving (our fault). They were so apologetic and so gracious and brought us out the hand cut and fried chips to tide us over. OMG! I could have eaten 3 baskets of those! Yumm! Food was delicious, place was packed as much as Placer County allowed and they were just reopened 3 days previous! I'm sure they had no idea how many folks were coming! Great burgers, salads and Sammie's! Second time I have been here and overall, left happy. My intentions were to arrive early enough for pint night and trivia, but what can I say, I'm a busy lady. Arrived one hour shy of trivia and the pint glasses were already taken. I had a boo hoo moment for a quick second, but the gal at the bar was sweet enough to offer me a consolation prize pint glass along with deal brews, so I really had nothing to "wine" about. The food was tasty, quick to arrive and the bartender was spot on, attentive and very thoughtful. Fish taco....pretty dang good. Food is disgusting here I ordered the garlic fries, the fries came out with a pile of cold minced garlic I between fries topped with parmesan cheese. Service was slow after the bartender/ waiter was chilling in the kitchen and the waitress was running around like it was super busy when it wasn't. The establishment was fine the kitchen looked dirty from the right side of the bar. Trash on the floor the cook made multiple meals without any gloves or washing hands. Fun bar with 33 tap beers! You can get a tasting/flight - 4 for $10. Great selection- try the peanut butter stout! We sat up at the bar - definitely was not crowded midday in a Saturday. The location is in the Downtown of Roseville (not much happening around there). We ordered street tacos at about $2 a taco...have 3! They are small but good. We also grubbed on the garlic fries! Yummy! I had a sangria - fantastic! Blackberries, raspberries, apples and oranges were floating around - so refreshing! A band was setting up as we were leaving. A fun spot if you are in the area. A great local spot. The inside is spacious and clean. We stopped in for an early dinner and to catch happy hour. While we didn't get too adventurous with their beer selection (as happy hour sported a $3 bud light on tap), we did enjoy many food options including their smoked Mac and cheese bites, sliders, Caesar salad, and their happy hour tenders. The food is amazing. The service is hit or miss, but usually good. Have been here multiple times, summer is fine. Winter, do they even they turn on the heater? Literally every woman in here has their jackets on, one has a beanie and gloves ( not kidding). It's 45 degrees outside right now, doesn't meet feel much warmer than outside. The shows are good but the music is way too loud, to the point where you can't hear anyone you are with unless you cup their ear and YELL in it. But food wise, this is five stars. Perhaps a bit too relaxed though, when my party and I arrived the establishment was not very busy, however it took a while and us flagging someone down to get menus and a server. The server never mentioned their name, nor offered to split the tab, which only made paying it a lovely little fiasco that we had to work out. The drinks were strong and the food was good- so they have that going for them. I ordered the chicken fingers with upgraded garlic fries. The food was at least warm and flavorful. Pretty disappointed. The 3 star rating is generous - 4+ stars for the staff and 3 stars for the space/atmosphere and 2 stars for not very good food. Having read the reviews and seen the food pics, my experience was not as inviting. Overall, service was good, atmosphere and decor could use some additional character, and the food was barely ok. Arrived at Bar 101 early evening on a Saturday. Fairly quiet inside and we were greeted quickly; sat at the bar. The wall behind the bar is covered in corrugated metal sheets and the remaining walls in the space are fairly sparse; tall open ceiling. Table are placed around the open room concept and look like they may be moved for events/dancing later in the evening. There is a pool table off to one side and a couple dart board machines off the other end of the bar. The brick is nice but some adornment would add to the character. Our server was prompt to take our drink order and deliver. Nice draft beer selection and full bar option. The wine options were basic. The food menu has some regulars burgers, sandwiches, salads and some mexican flare.. the favorites here seem to be the burgers, carnitas fries and loaded nachos. The 2 others in our party of 3 ordered street tacos (a la carte) - pescado and carnitas. For something a bit more hearty, I chose the "classic burger" with cole slaw instead of fries (to make myself feel better about my choice). I didn't try the tacos. The burger was disappointing and I was not impressed with the cole slaw. The burger: served on a brioche bun, the patty was very uniform, dense, with very little flavor - I could be wrong but I'd guess it was a frozen patty, not at all like those I had seen in photo's. Honestly, the burger would have been better without the patty. The slaw: probably bagged cabbage blend with very watery cream style dressing with no personality of any kind. It was very bland. If at home, I sprinkle some vinegar to brighten it up and give some depth. I think it'd be fair to try Bar 101 again and update this review; definitely pass on the burger and try something with their carnitas (fries, nachos, or tacos). TACOS TACOS TACOS! My experience with bar 101 is solely during the day life, I have never experienced at night so my rating is based on such. The service is average, normal bar service. Standard selection of liquor and beers, decently priced happy hour, But they get a good rating for the fact that if I think about tacos, this is the first place that comes to mind. Located in old Roseville off of pacific and main you have quite a selection. But this has been one of the better experiences in this area. Especially food-wise. The tacos are small, not greasy. Visit #1 to Bar 101 was 100% perfect. I thought I was never going to get to try this place! I happened to be in the area for a meeting this past weekend and jumped at the chance to enjoy a lunch all by my lonesome. It was just after 1 pm and there were plenty of open tables I was able to seat myself at. As I mentioned I was without my charming children but was pleased to see a couple families enjoying lunch on the patio. There were also many couples seated at the bar. ( I had to return to my meeting so I have already planned a return trip to try some of the beers on tap) The waiter was very quick and attentive. I went with my gut and ordered the Santa Fe Chicken sandwich. Served on toasted brioche with house made thousand island, the blackened chicken breast and roasted Poblano chile were individually delicious and came together like a wonderful explosion on my taste buds. I had a side salad to pair with my sandwich. There is an additional charge for onion rings or garlic fries but no for the salad so...bonus points. I love salad and this one was a bit indulgent with cheese croutons. More points for chopped veggies in the salad...it just makes it easier to eat than gigantic pieces of veggies and cherry tomatoes sliding all over the place. You know what I am talking about. All these delicious fresh flavors and just a really cool place to hang out. I was able to catch a bit of 2 different college basketball games they were playing on 2 of their many TV screens.
