Bar 1899 is located in Curry Village which was about a 15 minute walk from where we were staying in Yosemite this past week. Our big group visited twice during the week we were there for drinks and appetizers. During one of the visits, we ordered Pretzel Bites, Hot Wings and French Fries to share. The Pretzel Bites and Hot Wings were good, but the real winner were the French Fries - they tasted just like McDonald's, but better! We ordered them the second time we visited as well and they come in a large pile that is big enough to share with your whole table. They also have decent beer and staff is also friendly. They have a few tables inside, but you can also take your food and drinks to the large indoor dining room or outside on the patio. Curry Village offers other food places, but Bar 1899 allows you to bring that food inside their bar as well to enjoy. Overall, it's a nice place to hang out and grab snacks and drinks! Walked around Camp Curry and opted for bar 1899 for lunch. You order at the counter and can sit indoors or outdoors. Your food is brought out when ready. I tried their fish and chips and my boyfriend got their burger. Both were good and perfect for a post hike treat. The area is super nice and relaxing. I was in the park a couple weeks ago for spring break, and the day we arrived, my family and I stopped in here to have an early dinner before checking into our rental in Yosemite West. There was quite a long wait in line, and then another 50 or so minutes for the food, of which we were advised. I did appreciate the honesty. I believe the name of the server/bartender that took our order was Nick, and he was so kind and friendly. I ordered a couple of beers (Taco Truck lagers for my parents and a Half Dome Wheat for myself), two fish & chip plates and a BBQ Pulled Chicken sandwich plate for myself. As soon as I paid, my daughter asked me what she was going to drink. I felt so bad that I had forgotten to include a drink for her. I asked Nick to ring me up for a lemonade, and he was kind enough to offer it on the house. Since we had such a long wait, I figured I would enjoy the view outside while sipping my beer. Well, silly me set my glass on a bench and it fell over. I was so embarrassed! I went in ready to pay for another one with cash, but again, great hospitality and understanding on their behalf. He offered me a new glass. I appreciated that he didn't automatically judge and hopefully he didn't think I chugged it down, haha. When our food finally arrived, we sat down inside the dining hall to enjoy it with out beers. It's nice because they give you a number to place on your table and then they bring it out to you. I wish I had stopped in again the following 2 nights, but we had pizza 2 days in a row and beers from the market (that Half Dome Peach is so good!!). Hamburger was ok, nothing special. Also ordered the pulled chicken sandwich and it was under par. Basically the kind of bbq pulled chicken that you buy in a grocery store in the little plastic tub. Fries are decent. The only decent food in curry village was the pizza place. read more

Bar 1899 is the perfect spot to hangout after a good long hike! This restaurant is located inside Yosemite Valley in the Curry Village area. I believe it is the only bar within the park, however you can buy alcohol at any of their convenience stores. Anyhow! With that being said, the place is pretty small and they have some available seating within the bar, but you can also grab a table outside in the share dining space. When you place your food and drink order at the counter just let them know in which area you will be seating and they will bring your food to you. During my visit I got their wings which were cooked with their special buffalo sambal sauce which is not your average buffalo sauce. It is a mixed of spicy with sweet which was actually pretty good. The wings were huge and I thought the six piece place was the perfect portion for one person. Fun bar in Curry Village, have just about any alcohol/cocktail you would want! Limited beers on draft but good local ones theres something that anyone would like! The bartenders and bar hands are all great, very friendly and as attentive as they can be given the long line. The line is a bit outrageous at certain times but mostly because limited staff. They have 5 tables inside and 4 bar seats that fill fast and even if you are sitting at a table inside you still have to get back in the line to get another beverage. Bar 1899 was always a great place to stop after a long day of sightseeing and hiking in Yosemite. We came here all 3 nights we were there and never left disappointed. Our go to were the wings. These were big wings, cooked perfectly and had an awesome spicy sauce I never had before. We also really liked the shrimp tempura which came with a super tasty charred cabbage wedge and shredded cucumber with a tasty and spicy chili oil. The smash burger was very simple and well seasoned and the fires were very good. The beers on rotation were very delicious and they also made great cocktails. On July 7th there was a young caucasian girl with short light brown hair, wearing a hat by the salad bar assisting another older heavyset lady. They were employees there who were checking the temperature at the salad bar I believe that's what they were doing. The older lady was very sweet, but the young girl who was helping her was the rudest person we've ever met!! She told my sister-in-law who was trying to get some salad, "not to touch her" No one touched her. We were just trying to get some salad. She seemed like she was miserable and very unhappy at her job. People like her should NOT be working in places like this. read more

Everything was spectacular! From the bartender to the food to the drinks! Best place in Yosemite Village! Look no further! Chinese Chicken Salad was out of this world! Compliments to the chef who replicated the Hainan chicken sauce and seasoning because it was SPOT ON! Highly recommend! Wings were good and shoestring fries were delicious! My cousin and I recently shared a burger and drinks at Bar 1899. Bar 1899 is located in Seven Tents Pavillion in Curry Village, right next door to the Pizza Deck. My cousin ordered a tall beer, while I ordered a pint, which she had to finish for me. The beer was actually really good-- I just have a low tolerance for alcohol. We ordered the Sierra Smashburger to share. When my cousin asked the bartender if she could cut the burger in half or split it onto two plates, she said, 'I can give you an extra plate.' Understandable. I guess it isn't a super fancy establishment. She didn't bring us a second plate at first, but did after we reminded her. The burger was about the size of a McDonald's Double Cheeseburger. It was okay. The meat tasted kind of burned. Unfortunately, we didn't notice until we were almost done eating that the burger was missing the grilled onions that it was supposed to come with. The fries were okay. Not bad, nothing special. There isn't much variety in Yosemite, so there's a good chance I would give this place another try. By far the best food in Yosemite Village! I still can't believe how good everything was and that it was coming out of here. Kept coming back because nothing else in the village compares. From the super fresh and large salad to the perfectly crispy tempura shrimp, and they even put out an amazing smash burger with tons of caramelized onions. The menu is very small but everything tastes delicious and is executed beautifully. Bartenders are awesome and very friendly and if you don't find a specialty cocktail your heart should desire on their menu they'll gladly make you whatever you'd like. This place does get very busy once the sun goes down. It's very casual and the music is great. There's a small area to sit inside but you may also take your food out to the main food hall right next door or eat outside where there's even more seating. Fantastic place to have good food and libations after a day hiking at Yosemite. My husband and I had the Cabbage Under Fire, which is a delightful mix of cabbage, ginger, scallions and a tasty sauce. We also had 6 of their Exhibition Wings and holy cow, I was blown away by how huge (and tasty) they are. Their High Sierra Loop Cocktail menu is a great mix of liquor focused as well as fruity/lower alcohol content offerings. The service is top notch. Friendly and efficient servers & bartenders. We had a $23+ cheese burger with fries. The only thing decent was the burger patty, which was juicy. The bun was icy cold. So cold that we had to warm it up in the microwave oven as soon as it was served. The fries were very crispy but loaded with salt. My daughter who usually loves salty food had to use napkins to brush off the excess. Even after that they were still very salty. So that's our experience of a $23 plus burger with fries. We were in Yosemite for the long weekend hoping to catch the Firefalls - during the day we took a few easy hikes and ended up near Curry Village at lunch time - we were told that Pizza Deck and Bar 1899 were open and both pretty good - so while the kids stood in line for pizza, hubby and I stood in the short line for food from the Bar. There were a couple tables inside but we were going to also bring in outside food, so we decided to grab a table outside - it wasn't hard, people were moving along when they were done eating - we ordered beer as well - and enjoyed our beer while we waited for our kids and our food. We ordered before our kids but our food took about 25 minutes to come out - the salad was pretty good and as expected, and the ribs were juicy and not over barbequed - pretty tasty - I felt like it needed a side dish, it was more like an appetizer - The bartender took our order, she was pretty busy, but she was still personable - we talked about her cool pinecone bottom tattoo - she got it in Santa Cruz - where my husband and I met - well she was busting her a** in there - Overall a very pleasant lunch read more

I don't have high expectations for food in major tourist attractions because let's face it--you're not at Yosemite for the food. Bar 1899, however, would actually be worth going out of your way for though. The bartender described the sliders as "the best burger you've ever had," which I chalked up to good salesmanship. While I did not order them (as I am a pescatarian), my boyfriend did and the way his eyes slightly widened after his first bite makes me believe that the bartender was telling the truth. I heard someone else in line talk up the sliders and mention that they actually had them yesterday and were going back for them again. They're that good. Also, important note: Even though the menu lists "SLIDER," there are actually 2! My boyfriend ordered chicken wings to go with the single slider he was expecting. He thought the chicken wings were fantastic too, and happily finished them, but just a heads up for anyone else. I had the fish tacos, and found them excellently crispy and easily the best food I've ever had at a National Park. To be clear, not the best fish tacos I've had, but quite decent and better than I expected considering the location. I don't have any photos of the food because we had just finished a 16 mile day hike and was too hungry to think of taking a photo, but it was also nicely presented. I thought the service here was friendly and quick. Bar 1899 is raising the bar (pun intended) for National Park food. I'll definitely return on my next visit to Yosemite. read more

Again, pleasantly surprised at the options in Curry Village! After a long hike, I was desperately craving protein/ a hot burger, and the closest option was the sliders here. They serve two sliders with a cold (but roasted) potato salad with bacon. The potatoes were meh, but the sliders definitely hit the spot! Devoured the first one, but the second one started becoming too heavy for me (in the way that meat sometimes does). Still very satisfied. Their wings were huge too! A friend got the spicy ones, and they were the same seasonings as a Nashville hot chicken sandwich. Their drinks are pretty decent too! (And decently priced by LA standards haha). Had dinner here last week after hiking Half Dome. Like all dining options in Yosemite, prices are a little high, but fair given the location. My wife and I shared a smash burger and an Asian chicken salad. Both were fresh and satisfying. The salad was HUGE. We sat at the bar. Our bartender, Natasha, was awesome. She was efficient yet friendly. Unprompted by us, she checked on our burger when it was a little slow coming out. They do seem to have an extensive list of drinks and interesting cocktails which I may check out the next time out. We ordered the Mexican corn and the Vegetarian tacos. The corn itself was pretty basic, while the flavors and seasoning was great it didn't blow our mind. The Tacos on the other hand were really good! They used oyster mushrooms and sweet potatoes as the filling and the sauces were very flavorful. We went into Yosemite on July4th without a dinner plan because we were staying at backpackers camp and didn't want to eat dehydrated food before our backpacking trip since that was all we would be eating for the next few days.
