This new spot in West End is definitely aspiring to be like the NYC fan favorite, the Corner Store. The inside is very NYC esque with a large outdoor patio that reminds me of something at Reston Town Center. Front desk staff seated us quickly wi try a reservation but this place definitely seems to require a reservation. The indoors is quite loud like people report and they only see to have 3 individual restrooms, which I found small for a restaurant their size. Live music was pretty good. One of my favorite parts of the spot was the option for fruit for your water and the constant refills of water- I've never seen such attention to detail to keep waters filled. All the cocktails were NYC priced as well $21-$28- you'll easily spend $100 just on drinks alone. The espresso martini was fantastic, very coffee tasting. My first cocktail had kalmata olives stuffed with feta and hit that salty martini vibe I loved. We got one smoked drink and they light it at the table but they kept getting little pieces of lighted ash on the table- feel like it's a fire waiting to happen so bringing it to the table already smoked can have a safer result. We didn't have too many service issues but sometimes they were quick with drinks and other times slow. Our waitress was kind and attentive so that's all I can ask for. Food wise: we got the blue crab Rangoon and Caesar salad to start. The blue crab Rangoon was plentiful but they were very cream cheese forward (and I love cream cheese). You could taste an essence of crab but no real pieces- for $29 I want to be able to find a chunk of crab meat you'd think? The salad was tasty but an exact dupe for Corner Store. The fried cream cheese was quite cold- not sure if by design but would have at least liked them to feel warm to the touch. For a main we got the pepperoni pizza and that was tasty- tons of topping and almost flatbread like. I think this spot was solid but very pricey at times for what it was. This was honestly one of the least enjoyable dining experiences I've had in a long time, which is a shame because it's a really cute place inside. There were two problems we had with our time here: (1) The noise level. This is one of the loudest restaurants I've ever been to. It's already pretty noisy inside (it was crowded when we went and the tiled floors don't help), but there was also live music. In theory, this should have been nice, but the speakers were turned up SO loudly that my dining companions and I literally could not hear each other speak even when seated next to each other. I'm not exaggerating that we had to yell to be heard. (2) The service. Our server was great, but the runners were so intrusive- there were at least five people circling the restaurant at all times and they would swoop in literally the second a plate was finished. At one point, a runner took all of our plates and silverware away even though we said we were still eating. We had to tell three different runners we wanted to keep the sauces that came with our French fries, and ultimately had to physically hold the plates to stop them from taking it. It's not a pleasant time when it feels like you literally have to guard your food from getting taken away. The food itself wasn't bad, but it wasn't incredible, either. Our favorite things were the burger, which is a really delicious smash burger, and the blue crab rangoon, which came with Thai sweet chili sauce and was also very good. We liked the French fries a lot, but they were $15 an order, with an extra $4 for three sauces. Understanding that food pricing right now is higher, this still seemed like a crazy price to pay for a small cone of fries. The Angie Caesar was okay, but needed some acidity- the flavor was a little flat. The Martini Royale was a really good take on what you probably know as a p*rn star martini. The Clover Club sounded a bit better on paper than it was- almost half of the drink was egg white foam, which gave the drink kind of an unpleasant flavor. We did like that there's a water service where you can choose your own garnishes for your water (orange, lime, cucumber, etc.)- that was a fun touch. It's nice to have another addition to the bar scene in West End, but I likely wouldn't return, and I really hope changes are made to make the dining experience more pleasant. read more

This place definitely still needs to iron out a few things. Echoing previous reviews, the noise is a BIG problem. We came on a Wednesday evening and could barely hear each other over the live music and other patrons screaming. There is minimal sound proofing going on as the tile floors make all the sounds bounce around. We were forced to sit outside which meant TONS of bugs. There were a number of occasions where I had to stop a friend talking to pick a bug out of their hair or clothing. I would recommend the restaurant spray the area especially before mosquito season comes! Service inside was quite quick, however, outside we had to wait about 15 minutes for our waiter to be able to order drinks. I personally liked the wait staff coming to refill drinks or provide fruit for my water so frequently because I drink my water quickly and we did not have the issue of clearing that other customers have reported. The drinks were great, were they worth $21? No. I think a reasonable price would be $18 given the area and ingredients. It definitely didn't make me want to order a second, whereas I think it had been $18 I would consider it. The food was also good! We ordered the steak tartare, French fries w/ the works, crab rangoons, and burrata pizza. All were very tasty. I don't think any was reasonably priced even for dc. Overall you're paying a lot for a new trendy aesthetic spot on top of decent quality things which makes it not really worth it. Had a great lunch here this week! The weather was randomly nice so even though I'd reserved a seat inside, we opted to sit on the patio. It was quiet and very pretty. Our waiter (I think his name was Gabriel??) was amazing!! He made some great recommendations and was very attentive. I love that they bring you a whole tray of additions for your water (I opted for lemon and cucumber). We started with the Wagyu in a Blanket, which was like a fancy pig in a blanket. I was impressed with the flavor and the dipping sauces. The blue crab Rangoon was also delicious although I wish the filling had been seasoned more. My friend and I decided to split the burger and the Caesar salad and were so delighted when they actually brought them out pre-split on small plates so we didn't have to do it ourselves! Highly recommend for that reason alone. The burger was absolutely amazing and the crispy cream cheese on the Caesar salad is a must try My only real complaint is that the menu is a bit pricey for what it is. read more

Party of 4 for Sunday late lunch. Place was so loud we could not hear each other. Critical need for sound barriers. We enjoyed the two piece musicians, but they were to loud for a small space. We thought the food was good, but the $ was over the top. Drinks were expensive and if you were considering two cocktails, they were going to be $45+ for the total. So we each had 1 drink. Meal was sparce. We order the wagu french dip. You would think for $39 it would include a pickle and fries. NOTHING ELSE WAS ON THE PLATE. This is the first time in a long time that I haven't been disappointed in a restaurant. Everything was perfect. The atmosphere was pleasant. Music was loud enough to give a party atmosphere but at the same time not so loud that we couldn't talk. I started with an onion soup that had just the right amount of Sherry. From water refills to clearing plates the service was impeccable. The food also came out quickly so we had a nice segue from one course into the next without too much down time. I tried all six entrees from our table and each was delightful. My own steak was seasoned nicely and done just right. The cheese and sauce on the burger was perfect. The bucatini was thick-walled (which makes it more difficult to cook properly) and still was cooked perfectly, with a spicy sauce that tingled delightfully. Everyone at our table loved their meal. Despite the rapid service, at the end of the meal we did not feel rushed. For anyone seeking a special night out (or just a good meal) you cannot go wrong with Bar Angie. read more

Bar Angie is the spot to be! Classy NYC inspired establishment serving top notch food and drinks. At 8 pm on a Saturday night, the bar was packed, every table was occupied and live music was playing. The drinks are excellent - I could drink the classic espresso all night, every night. The complimentary bread was also so good, I almost asked to take the loaf to go. My only wish is that the whipped butter was salted. They had to move us to a different table mid meal and because of that inconvenience they really took care of us and made up for it. The hospitality and service were unmatched after that, which was refreshing and very appreciated. The wagyu french dip was the epitome of the sandwich - tender, juicy and flavorful. Also get the fries, even though they are $14 extra dollars. I couldn't stop eating them. The coconut sundae was the perfect end to the meal. I'm honestly not mad at the prices (which are a bit higher than most places in DC) because I left feeling so content, satisfied and taken care of. I will be back! read more

I'm in DC visiting my dad and he took me to Bar Angie for dinner last night. Let me start off by saying how impressed I am by this restaurant as a whole. The ambiance of the place was 10/10. They had the cutest yet elegant Christmas decor with hanging ornaments dangling from the ceiling. The best part was live music being played and sung at the literal perfect volume. The wait staff was so attentive to every table, refilling our drinks if they noticed they were low, clearing the table and bringing fresh plates and silverware, offering an assortment of fruits and veggies to put in our water and the list goes on and on. I have a gluten AND dairy allergy and was able to eat SO many items on the menu with minor tweaks. They were so kind about making any accommodations I required and I don't think people understand how long of a way that goes when having food allergies. We had the steak tartare with the breadsticks on the side for my dad and I was in heaven! The tuna crisp was my absolute favorite appetizer we had as it has so much flavor, my tastebuds were dancing lol! The grilled corn salad wouldn't be something I'd typically order on my own but it was recommended and I'm so glad it was. I legit couldn't stop eating it. My dad also got the French onion soup and loved it. For our main courses we shard the Steak frites & Chicken paillard. My dad was not too excited about eating chicken but ended up saying it was his favorite dish! I wanted to bottle up the sauce to take home with me, it was that good! The steak was cooked perfectly and no surprise I scarfed down the fries. Both meals were so good I totally forgot to take pics. I had the west end flower to drink & he got the martini royale. I love when the presentation matches the taste, both pretty and delicious!! For dessert they brought me pineapple sorbet and my dad got the profiteroles which he practically licked the plate clean and a cappuccino to top it all off! I don't know how but we left not even feeling full but completely satisfied and beyond pleased with our experience. We enjoyed when they had table service putting lemons and limes in your water upon request; however, that is when the service stopped. After that, we never saw our waiter for soooooo long. It was insanely slow. We tried the Kalamata olive martini- SO BAD. Don't get that. We got the flatbread, which was more like a regular pizza (not very flat). To echo other reviews, the restaurant was incredibly loud (we were yelling to maintain conversation) - it at times felt that they were attempting to squeeze too many guests in such a small space - we were incredibly close to our other tables. Additionally, when ordering cocktails they were out of several items (including their feta stuffed olives), but did not tell us when we ordered our drinks (so it was a surprise we had to ask about after being served our drinks). We ordered the wagyu in a blanket and burger for our meals, and the food was good, just overly expensive for what we were eating. Recently visited for the Sunday brunch menu. The restaurant is located below an office building and the front feels like the entry to a NY cafe/bistro. Once inside I was promptly seated in the front interior dining room. The decor is like a chic Parisian cafe and full restaurant the noise level is moderate. I found the interior to be very dim even for an early afternoon (some light does come from front windows). There is bar seating as well. The brunch menu has brunch staple infused with French cuisine. I had the Bolognese blanco which was a great portion size for brunch and was a different take on traditional bolognese. It didn't as appealing but definitely tasted great, warm, and hearty. The Hugo Spritz was the perfect refreshing and light cocktail for a spring day. The service was great with the entire team in conjunction with our dedicated server checking on the table refreshing drinks and clearing dishes. The food was amazing. My friends and I had a reservation for 3 at 7:30 on a Friday night, but it was so busy that we weren't sat until about 8:10pm. We were able to sit at the bar and have pre-dinner drinks, so it was fine. My only complaint is that the drinks are $20+ and aren't anything special. Once we were sat, our server was very attentive and the food came out fast. We got the crab rangoons, the burger, the French dip, the steak frites and the bolognese blanc. Came on a Saturday night shortly after they opened with a reservation on Open Table (took me a few to figure out what platform they use). We were seated right away and while the dining area is a bit tight, it wasn't as bad as some restaurants. Had a couple of cocktails, the two martinis we tried were good as was the smoke show (an old fashioned with table side smoke) and the el Diablo (spicy but in a good way). For food we started with the Angie Caesar which was great. I don't know why I've never had deep fried cream cheese with a Caesar salad but it works. Then we split the pork chop which is very thing but huge. It was really good, well flavored and seasoned but could have used a side of carbs to balance the meat (not that you need more food!). The jalapeños on top were a nice touch. We also shared the Bolognese Blanc which was delicious and very much a comfort food. It's light and not super heavy but good flavor. Definitely want to come back and try the French dip and the burger which both looked good on other tables! The bar area looked super cute and if I lived/worked in the neighborhood it would be a good place to grab a drink and snack after work for sure. They also have an outdoor patio which will be perfect if the weather ever cooperates. Had a reservation for 7pm, we got there at 6:55pm and we were told at 7pm that the table would be ready shortly - our hostess pointing at a table that was being cleared. Right after that happened another party came in, skipped the hostess, and sat down at the table which the hostess had verified was being prepared for us. I asked the hostess what happened and she shrugged and said it was the owner and she couldn't do anything. We were finally seated at 7:25pm, with no further explanations or updates. Food was okay, drinks were fine, service staff were nice - just a really weird, unprofessional, and entitled owner.
