Came here for drinks after walking up and down NYC with my long time college friend. The decor of the bar is too modern for the rest of the interior design, but it creates a nice separate niche of its own. The stools are a good height, but are solidified to the floor, so no shifting them around. It was a little difficult to slide myself onto it, but once there, it was super cushy and comfortable. They do swivel which makes it easier to talk to the person or group you go with. The bar tenders were a good team. They were busy with orders from people at tables and the counter. I accidentally knocked my drink over and they replenished it to where it last was without me asking. That was super of them. I got the S'mores Martini and it was delicious! It comes with a graham crackers rim. They have a menu specifically for candy - drinks. I saw a small container filled with sour patch kids. They gave us some flavored/roasted nuts and it went really well with our drinks. They were so fresh and delish. The drinks are mega expensive, but we did it for the experience. It was $29.00 a pop. Originally my friend wanted to treat me, but because of the hefty price tag we split the bill. It was a nice time, with a good atmosphere and professional bar tenders. Rolando was excellent! Stumbled upon this establishment while walking around the city. We planned on grabbing A drink. Our one drink turned into many because our great server, Jimmie, and the bartender. They were so attentive and made sure we were having fun! Great place to stop and give your legs a break while enjoying a great drink. Located in the Peninsula hotel it is one of the hotels lobby bars. There wasn't many patrons in here when we came at 7pm on a Thursday. I think the workers outnumbered the customers. I will say the service was great. There had to be 2-3 people that checked on us every 5 minutes. I appreciated the attentiveness. This is a higher end place in terms of price. That is a nice way of saying it is expensive. The positive news is that when you order drinks you do get nuts, parmesan cheese, and olives. That is a nice value to the higher priced drinks. They also have food but I would definitely skip the food next time. It all sounded much better than it tasted. We went with the Korean fried chicken and it wasn't crunchy or served on the bone. It lacked flavor too. The Tempura broccoli was one of the worst appetizers I have had maybe ever. It was soft when tempura should be crunchy and had a very weird sauce. It was not properly made. The angus sliders were pretty good and it comes with a heaping serving of fries so if you order anything order that. At the end of the meal we were given some chocolates as a nice send off. Overall, the service was 5 stars, the food was 2 stars, and the drinks were pretty standard. I have this place at 3 stars and I don't think I would return unless I had to. read more

Very Disappointed as we've always frequented the bar and have for years told all our friends how good the drinks and atmosphere are. Their drink menu was all candy based sweet drinks and they couldn't even be bothered to make drinks that we discovered there. It's a shame as we always looked forward to discovering new taste drinks there. Sad to say we don't know that well stop back by the Bar at Clement any longer. read more

Twenty-four-hour champagne diet. Enter the Pennisula Hotel and head to your left. Bar at Clement is such a classy intimate place to grab a drink. Service was superb, professional and kind. Kris, the bartender is extremely knowledgeable in the liquor offered. I forgot the two names he made for my friend and I, but i really enjoyed my drink. It was a bit shy of the alcohol but that was fine. My friend didn't enjoy her drink as much and Kris kindly encouraged to make another drink, though my friend declined. Besides the drinks, this place is gorgeous. I would definitely recommend coming here to start the night or end the night. I am reminded of my not-so-great experience at the Hotel St. Pierre a few years back when I ordered a Manhattan also but this place was a bit better. Having said that, there were hits and misses. The service was quite formal for the vibe and decor. Waiters were dressed up and carried silver trays. At an ornate, traditional bar, sure. Cool. But here there seemed to be a disconnect. The waiter also didn't speak English very well. The decor was rather pedestrian/industrial. When the waiter asked us what kind of water we wanted we said bubbly. Two 24 ounce bottles were brought (usually a table for two gets one, right?) and the cost was $9 each. We ordered their premium custom or whatever they called it Manhattan. In Manhattan! Ha ha, that wasn't intentional, it was cold out and we wanted a brown drink. Made with premium bourbon, Antiqua red vermouth, luxardo cherries, it was too sweet, one of the sweetest premium Manhattans I've ever had. The color had an unusual pink tight, not very brown at all. The complimentary snacks were a nice touch. With tax and tip, the bill came to $95. I know New York is expensive, but at the Bar at Clement? Yikes. read more

Bar at Clement is my go-to for a quiet, classy, upscale night on 5th Ave with good drinks, friendly service and attractive clientele. Yes, it's a hotel bar on 5th Ave, so gird your wallet for the (potential) sticker shock of $20+/cocktail prices. But compared to the King Cole Bar across the street, Clement offers a much more chill atmosphere. Recs? The jasmine tea cocktail. Or just have the bartender mix you something to taste. read more

Thought we'd try to go somewhere less touristy like the King Cole bar and head to the Peninsula bar to try it out. Not a good idea, first off there were 2 guests at the bar and 4 other people in a corner who we later found out was some staff meeting for a hotel hire. I mean who does that in guest areas?? Bad management that's who. Other than the meeting, there was no bartender or other staff actually working the bar. When a bartender actually showed up, he came to our table and said, "oh sorry I just got here" Um do we really need to know you just punched in? Did the 2 guests at the bar serve themselves? When we finally got our drinks, the glasses were not clean and we sent it back. After a little while, the bar started filling up and we couldn't flag down the waiter who was slow to begin with to order more drinks! So we paid, left and went elsewhere! read more

I love the layout, the bar is separate from the main dining and has its own comfy seating area. This is the place to go if you enjoy top shelf liquor. I'll come out and admit it, this is one of the fanciest, classiest, and most expensive bars i've ever had the pleasure of visiting. It's pretty far out of my price range typically, but i've had the opportunity to visit twice now due to the Local Passport and the Loaded Passports, from goodpassports.com. I'm sure that will color my review somewhat. However, as a thrifty New Yorker i've been to a lot of places for free or discounts, and have sometimes experienced different treatment than i think i might have received had i not been using the discounted service. Clement is absolutely stand-out in that they treated us very well, gave us full sized drinks and even asked our opinions on them. The were completely classy and did not treat us differently because we were redeeming a voucher for a free drink. Besides all that, this place is enchanting. It's a very fancy bar on the second floor of the Penninsula, and you can look down at fifth avenue when you sit by the window. It's very romantic, and feels like the New York you might see in an old movie--dark, classy, and ritzy, it really feels like something special. The drinks are always delicious. Even if some of them sound strange, I always trust the menu because i know that they create very inventive, exciting drink combinations that you can't always find elsewhere. They also have a very broad selection of wines, whiskeys, and other spirits so that anyone can find something fancy that falls into their tastes. read more

Bar at Clement is inside of The Pennisula Hotel. Upon entering you go up the stairs to your left. Once you reach the top the restaurant is on the right side and Bar Clement is on the left. The decor was chic with gold tones. Very intimate with options of sitting at the bar, sofas and even an intimate tucked away corner for two. My friend and I decided to sit at the bar. We were greeted immediately by Kris, one of the bartenders. We shared a few chuckles and then went with a cocktail named Northwest Passage made with Indigenous Apple Vodka, pear purée, Leonard Oakes 'Steampunk' Cider. It was outstanding!!!!! I don't really like hotel cocktail bars, but this is one of the good ones. When you purchase drinks (which are strong and diverse--aka whiskey, tequila, gin) they give complementary plates of cheese, nuts, and olives. This place also cares about service, which is nice, and the staff is friendly and does a good job of catering to the customers. Finally, on weeknights, sometimes they have live music, which is a nice touch. read more

Remind me not to go to hotel cocktail bars. I went in because I had some time to kill before meeting someone for dinner. The drink was more expensive than it is up the street at an Irish bar. There's no happy hour and everyone was from out of town. It didn't feel like I was in my own city. As for the out of towners, wouldn't you want to go someplace that has local flavor?
