I grew up with the Duff's vs Anchor Bar debate, but this restaurant is up there in competition for best wings. I absolutely loved the medium wings as they had an unexpected sweetness behind the tingling. And the Sicilian had shredded Parmesan on them and looked extra fancy. I loved the presentation with the wings in a circle around the dip, instead of piles like you normally get. And the drinks had a great variety. They did charge $1 for extra sauce that we weren't expecting and they should have said when bringing it out, and when ordering 20 wings split in 2 flavors, we were charged for 10 and 10 individually, which was a few more dollars, but overall, prices are decent and it was a good time. They had fans to move some air and a TV, but it was covered. Server was nice and friendly and gave us recommendations on what to select. We shared the beet salad, wings, beef on weck and waffle fries. The wings were very tasty (mix of hot and cajun). Beef on weck was so moist and juicy that I dare say it is better than the OG. Surprised how good the waffle fries and beet salad was. The food itself was excellent. We ordered Cajun wings and Honey Butter BBQ, with 5 wings and 5 legs, and both flavors were a 5/5 super tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. No complaints at all there. We also got the shoestring fries, which were absolutely delicious crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, and easily some of the best fries I've had. Another 5/5. Unfortunately, this is where the 3-star rating comes in. The service was really lacking. It took over an hour for our food to come out, and our waitress was pretty nonexistent. She got our drinks, then about 20 minutes later came back to ask for our food order. After that, it was another hour before we finally received our food -- and it wasn't even brought out by her. No one ever checked on us to see if we needed refills or anything else. The atmosphere itself was nice, but the seating was an issue. The chairs were very unstable six chairs fell over while we were there. Anytime someone put a coat on the back and went to sit down/ stand up, the chair flipped over with a loud crash, nearly hitting other customers. It was honestly a bit concerning. I wish I could give 3.75 stars. So we are on way to Toronto by car and since we are passing Buffalo, we have to stop and hit two of the top wing stops: Bar Bill and Duff's. First up, BB. While perusing their web site, I notice they are promoting their beef on weck sandwich as one of the best. I love trying local food so we get a 10 piece medium hot and a regular size beef on weck. I originally ordered hot but the guy said that is pretty hot so since we still had few hours drive, I went with medium hot. Bad choice!! Must be some weak folks up here because the sauce is not hot at all. The wings have a really good crisp though, which sort of saves it. The beef on weck is not bad. Kind of an elevated Arby's with that roll with the salt flakes on top. It is not a hot sandwich and the jus is also just luke warm. Definitely add the horseradish to get best flavor combo. After doing some research we ended up picking this spot for our Buffalo wing experience and it did not disappoint. However if you're from out of town you might be inclined to ask for another dipping sauce (ranch) instead of the classic blue cheese. Don't make the same mistake as my partner. He asked for ranch instead and blue cheese was SOOO much better. I think the highlight of these wings were the blue cheese dipping sauce. I've never had such amazing blue cheese dips before!! It really complements the wings. (Especially the flavors that's more spicy, sauce-y & less creamy) We got some fried cheese curd and waffles fries on the side and 20 wings to share. Great beer selection, if you go on a weekend be prepared for a decent wait (1-1.5 hours) but you can grab a drink and sit outside if the weather is nice. I would like to think that I have good judgement when it comes to a great buffalo wing. I've been all over the city and have tried over nearly a dozen different places for a good wing. To me, what makes a good wing is that it needs to be saucy, yet not soggy. As far as the appetizers, we got the fried artichokes and jalapeño poppers; both were incredible. We ordered extra crispy wings and to be honest, even then they could have been crispier and saucier. The flavor of the sauce was incredible, and I love how they separate the drums and the flats. This place is busy! Trying to find parking in their very large parking lot took time and patience. We knew it must be excellent with the amount of cars and it only being 12:30 in the afternoon. I was impressed by the crispiness of the skin to all the flavors available. You have the choice to split sauces on an order for $1. As well ass ordering all Flats for $3 or all drum sticks for $1. While we were there the limited time flavor was mango habanero which was covered in gold. This flavor could only be ordered full- no split sauce order. Proceeds for every purchase of this flavor went to pediatric cancer research. Along with mango habanero we ordered Cajun honey butter and Medium -Hot. The waitress told us that Medium Hot is everyone's "hot". While the flavor was delicious I thought the spice level could be bumped up! We finished our wing tasting by ordering "Hot" and lemon pepper. This was my first time at bar-bill north. I am a believer that the OG BB is among, if not the best, wing and beef in buffalo. Food was very good but I wasn't blown away at the north location. I'm sure the recipes are the same but it did taste different for what that's worth. The beef was great, although I wish I had ordered a smaller size. Chips and pickle top notch. The only thing I have a small gripe with was the wing sauce and the bleu cheese. I ordered medium but it was somehow on the sweet side. They had great kick but got a sweet taste before the heat kicked in. Same thing with the bleu...sweetness. Not something I normally associate with bleu, and if so, not as sweet as this bleu.
