    Steak Hoagie with chips

I went to lunch with my friend. He ordered a meatball sub and I ordered the steak hoagie. we sat down and ordered a couple of soft drinks. The atmosphere was nice with several TVs showing several football games. The waitress was friendly and attentive. Both of our sandwiches were very good. I think the price for soft drinks was a little high. We enjoyed our meal and we will probably return.

The Josh Allen cocktail 2/10 Had basically no flavor. It was kinda disgusting. a flavored seltzer water would be so much better. Artichoke dip 7/10 Large chunks of artichoke, just wish they were a little smaller. The cheesiness was good though. Garlic parm fingers 10/10 Cooked perfect, crispy. Flavor was fantastic. And also fantastic as leftovers, hot or cold. Steak Fries 1/10 Don't recommend. Pretty soggy and plain.

4.5 for delicious Crown Royal BBQ wings, 3 for the pizza - tasty bit the wings knocked our socks off. This place is welcoming and very traditional Buffalo sports bar type vibe. It was loud but that's what we expected. Staff were nice, didn't see much but we did get everything we needed and were checked on. I will definitely come again there's lots of options on the menu I would like to try.

We have been to Amherst Pizza & Ale many times. We have always been happy with our meals. Last night we ordered wings and we were extremely disappointed. While the flavor was good the wings were unbelievably tiny. Other diners agreed with us. For $17 we expect 10 good size wings or a few extra because of the small size. The service and ambience were fine. But we will not return for wings.

    Margherita Pizza

Ordered a Margherita Pizza to go (Medium 14"). They charged $26 plus tax. Was absolutely ridiculous and it was terrible. Do not bother ... maybe other pizza is better but $26 for what?

I was only here once, over a decade ago after class got out while I was in college. The same table was in the same place where me and my fellow students and teacher all enjoyed pizza! Coming back again, I had another good experience. It was clean and cozy and service was excellent! Food came out so fast, and drinks stayed filled! My only disappointment was that it was a HUGE menu, but there were no real traditional entrees which I wanted that day. They have sandwiches, salads, wraps, pizza, chicken wingers, burgers, and finger foods galore. I ordered the California club and pub fries and I have 0 complaints with my food. The pub fries are the thinner, battered fries. They also have waffle fries and a variety of other types of loaded fries. There's something for everyone but again, no traditional entrees except maybe the Friday fish fry. It's pretty much all good you eat with your hands. No pasta, steak, chicken etc. (although you can have those meats on a sandwich).

    There huge fish fry

I've been going here for many years. I just went and got a fish fry and two shrimp dinners for the cost of it. The fish is north. The size of it used to be half the size shrimp dinners didn't even get cocktail sauce with them stay away from this place. If I give a lower rating than one I would.

Great wing places, terrible wing places and places with interesting origin-stories always make for decent content in a wing review. Places located in a roadside plaza, that are neither wonderful nor terrible, pose a unique challenge in trying to capture the reader's interest with a compelling review. Yet, here we are at Amherst Ale House... let's all just get through this... Location: 3.5 / 5 Not the most relaxing atmosphere as we got seated at a table smack in the middle of a retirement party. Otherwise, there were games on the TVs and the wait staff was pleasant, so there. Presentation: 3 / 5 Wings. On plates. Okay. Ken's Bleu Cheese packets epitomized the experience. Meat: 3.5 / 5 The good ones were fine but overall this was a weak point. There were more boney shards than we care to deal with. Cook: 8 / 10 All hot and a pretty good crisp. The preparation of the char-pit grill was a nice differentiator -- nice to have *something* that stands out. Standard: 9 / 15 Way under-sauced - not enough to completely cover each wing - and way under-spiced. We generally don't need a lot of heat to give a good review but these were bland and boring. Specialty: 7.5 / 10 A better showing here but inconsistent overall. Char pit was universally loved, no wonder they brag about it all over the walls. Mango haberero were a bit slimy, not great. Nashville hot was actually a Carib jerk, not our favorite flavor. Finally hot garlic parm drew wildly mixed reviews. On the long ride home, at least one of the Wing Kings took a nap and who can blame him. A sleepy review for a sleepy experience. Overall 34.5 / 50

Over priced for the service and food you get. Look elsewhere many better options for the price.

We were in Buffalo to go to the AKG museum. We were inside for better than 3 hours and were hungry…read more Buffalo....Duff's wings. The GPS took us to the first location that opened (the waitress said the 1960s) a long time ago. The building is sitting at an angle from the road so go to the right and turn in to park or go past and turn right for the parking lot. Middle of the afternoon on a Thursday they weren't too busy. We were seated immediately and waited on quick. I wanted some clarity with the wing heat. Some places hot is mild or hot is burn your face off. She clarified the medium hot is hot so that's what I decided on for an order of 6. My sister isn't so much of a wing person so she decided on a grilled cheese. The waitress was pleasant and answered all the questions we had. The restaurant itself isn't too big but can seat a lot of people. Total wing vibe. Lots of different flavors and quantities went by...everything looked tasty and fresh. They had Yuengling on tap so that's what I ordered. She had a pepsi. Food arrived fast. The aroma was to die for (ok it burns the eyes a little...). Came with celery and blue cheese. The wings were amazing, some of the best I have ever eaten. Crunchy celery and cool dipping sauce. Bigger than most that I have ordered and very freshly prepared. After 6 I was filled up...but I ordered another brew just to wash it all down. If you're in Buffalo (or the area) it's definitely worth stopping to have a treat. Other Buffalo favorites are on the menu as well (Beef on Weck sandwich. We will definitely be back, more flavors to try and locations to enjoy.

All right, I hope everybody remembers when they read these reviews that it's all a matter of…read moreopinion I know everybody loves Duff's wings, and well, probably the actual restaurant and everything This was my first time going in there, and I did not care for The surroundings at all. Tables were too close, people are way too loud. I can't eat in loud surroundings. I don't like that, and it was so hot in there that it made me very uncomfortable. I believe all restaurants and bars, etc. should be air-conditioned and make people comfortable. If they're too cold, they can always put on a jacket but when you're too hot, I can't take much off. I ordered the roast beef on Weck and fries instead of potato chips. I was very satisfied it was delicious. Very expensive, I found everything was very expensive on the menu, but if you want good food, I guess that's what you gotta do is pay more. Jim ordered mild wings, they still looked good even though I'm a hot wing person. I was looking at everybody else's huge plates of wings that were coming out and they looked so amazing. I'm definitely gonna get some to take home some time. Anyway, the wings looked good smelled good, Jim said they were very good, my sandwich was good. The fries were good, the waitresses were nice so the service was pretty good. But again too small, too loud, too hot, and those things just don't make me happy. I probably would go in there again and eat if somebody else wanted to, but I'd rather take my food to go next time. One other issue I had is definitely the restroom. That had to be the smallest stall I have ever been in. Anytime I moved I banged into one of the walls. They have two stalls in there, which to me is definitely not enough when you're serving "spicy hot " food. At one point there was five people in the restroom. Luckily, I just had to wash my hands in that visit. But the restroom is way too small and when I talk to Jim about the ladies room, he said the men's room is super small too, so they're probably about the same size. So that was definitely a negative thing for me was the restroom.

I am not a fan of caramel or peanut butter sauce, so asked for these two items to be excluded. I do not know what other cookie flavor choices there are; I just picked chocolate! It was nicely packed up, with the ice cream in a separate container from the warm cookie. Both made it back to my house, the ice cream still solid and the cookie still warm. It is a wonderful treat. I think it might be difficult to order this after eating wings or a pizza or even a salad first, but as a separate treat, quite nice!

Top-notch spot for wings! We stopped in on a Friday just before 6:00 before heading to a comedy…read moreshow at UB. The location was super convenient. It was a bit busy (30-40 min wait for dining area), but there were a few tables off to the right of the bar where you could seat yourself. Luckily, one opened up right as we walked in. When seated at these tables, you have to order at the bar. The food was absolutely delicious. I had the nuggiez -- the sauce cooled the boneless bites down a little, but the flavor was still great. I loved all the sauces we tried (saucy hot cajun, medium, and garlic parm). The wings were perfectly crisp, and the steak pizza had a ton of flavor. Definitely a heavier meal, but if you're bringing someone from out of town who wants great wings, this is a spot worth taking them to.
