    Complementary homemade cannolis- delicious
    Nick P.

Enjoyed a nice meal at Luke. The ambiance is great, such intricate detailing on the ceiling, this used to be one of my favorite spots years back when it was hot tomatos. We ate at the bar, which offers both the normal menu, as well as a bar specific menu. The bar menu is effectively a smaller portion of 1 appetizer, 1 pasta dish $10, 1 steak dish $15. I believe their menu rotates with some frequency. The bar pasta dish was a rigatoni with chestnuts and bacon lardons in a creamy sauce - it was amazing, best dish we had. We also bought the lobster cavatelli $38, thought the lobster was really fresh/nice, but didn't care for the sauce here, we wound up leaving some (that's rare for us with pasta). The bar steak was nice, perhaps a little underdone for our tastes (on the rare side), but the sides of parsnip purée were great. I'd probably be disappointed with that as a larger $90 steak, but at $15, it's a solid deal. The complementary bread was also nice and had a good dipping sauce. We also got a dulce de leche tart for dessert $16 - I thought it was fine, but maybe both worth my calories, and definitely not worth $16. They nicely also offered complementary homemade cannoli and chocolates. The cannoli were by far better than the dulce de leche, maybe consider selling these as a dessert? One other note - the wine pours were weak, if you're staying for a bit, good idea to buy a bottle. All in all - place has a lot of potential, a couple good dishes. I'd consider coming back, but not a ''must go".

If you're visiting New Haven and looking for a dining experience that blends architectural grandeur with culinary artistry, LUKE Brasserie is a must. On Saturday 10/25, we had 3 celebrations in one (my husband's birthday, my SIL's birthday and our wedding anniversary). We had a party of 6 and we requested a private dining room. Chef V (Vincent) curated a customized tasting menu that felt like a journey through texture, flavor, and finesse. The setting is stunning--ornate ceilings, Corinthian columns, and a warm, welcoming ambiance. Each time an item was served, Chef V came over to walk us through what was being served and how it was prepared. We were served everything on the exquisite menu except scallops (due to one sister with allergy), porchetta and veal. It was too much food, lol. As good as it was, we would not be able to enjoy the porchetta as we were all stuffed. Everything was thoughtfully curated. From the focaccia bread served with a white bean aioli-esque spread, to the seared yellowfin tuna with soy-citrus and herbs, the gem lettuce salad with fuji apple, walnuts, and parmesan, and the jumbo gulf shrimp in smoky romesco - every single dish was layered with flavor and elegance. The heirloom beets were a delight and a nice surprise, the 2 pasta courses - one with cavatelli topped w Maine lobster and the other mezze rigatoni w guanciale, chestnut and fontina cream were comforting yet elevated, and the Branzino over broccolini had a perfect crisp skin and freshness. The steak, served on a hammered metal tray with caramelized onions, was excellent. We had to request to not serve the remaining protein items as all of us didn't have room in our tummies by the time the steak was served. Chef V's tasting menu is not just a meal--it's a story worth savoring.

The ambience was really nice. The food was impeccable. Chelsea are waitress was able to accommodate us as I came an hour late because of a mixup on my part, she was wonderful. The service was wonderful. The food was wonderful. I can't say enough.

I have been to The Luke a number of times. It is consistently amazing. The restaurant is stunning and the service is top notch. The restaurant is truly perfection from the lighting to the music. The tuna, scallops, asparagus, branzino and steak are phenomenal! The detail and depth of flavors is executed impeccably throughout each course. I highly recommend The Luke over and over again!

My husband and I had a truly wonderful time at Luke! Chef V's passion is obvious; he's right there making sure every single plate is perfect. The yellowfin tuna was ridiculous--next-level amazing. While the initial service was a bit confused, Katie stepped in and was a total superstar, turning things around completely. The vibe is effortlessly cool, housed in a 1910 former hotel where the grand, towering ceilings give the whole space a majestic feel.

We came here to celebrate a family birthday and the food and service was amazing. They serve everything family style so we got to try a bunch. Everything we tried was delicious. The steak and halibut dishes were fantastic. Just expertly done and full of flavor but the more delicate apps like tuna or hamachi also shone. We had a private room and the servers just made us feel at home. Really can't express how wonderful they were. This is a terrific place for special occasions and the food definitely has to be some of the best in state. With that, two small caveats to be aware of. First, they keep the lighting extremely low. Good luck trying to read the menu or see the food with any great clarity. It worked out but it's tougher for an older crowd in particular. And second the menu has a lot of tree nuts. They tried to accommodate where they could but since they use it a lot there wasn't as much flexibility as you'd likely see elsewhere. Be mindful if you have allergies. That said, they were kind about it. Overall, we loved our meal here and grateful for them treating us well for the birthday.

A truly exceptional dining experience with each plate dripping with flavors subtle and layered and each course artfully presented and more delicious. I highly recommend Luke's for a captivating experience.

Phenomenal in all aspects! We were greeted with a welcome from the chef himself and immediately offered a glass of Prosecco. Our server, Abigail, was joyful, knowledgeable, attentive and friendly. Outstanding service that seems rare these days. Each dish we were served was savory, delicious and filling! Some of the best I have ever had (have delighted in many Michelin restaurants) The ingredients seemed carefully chosen and the perfect flavor combinations! The atmosphere was classic, cozy, authentic and inviting. I highly recommend Luke Brasserie!

Tips-make a reservation on open table Dimly lit and reminiscent of its original look, this restaurant is very open with tables of varied size throughout, long drapery, candles, modern music echoing, and golden light fixtures. I was excited to get a table as it appears that this spot is very popular. As I expected, the staff was at the front offering a complimentary glass of proseco, but as non drinkers, she gave us a glass Saratoga sparkling water and we sat for a few minutes in the lounge until the chef greeted us with a smile and handshake and we were seated. A nice gesture. The staff work together, so it doesn't have the personal effect as one person describing menu items and refilling waters, asking how dinner tastes, but a unit working together under the chef. Things were brought, things were removed, and I think our candle was moved every time they were over due to the table size. We choose a menu item from each section. Beet salad and heirloom salad was fresh and heavily chilled..to the point the tomatoes tasted almost frozen. Covered in feta. Scallops were the hit of the night. Perfectly cooked and accompanied by interesting yet complimentary parts, including mushrooms, cauliflower, nuts, and dehydrated fuji apple over the smoothest puree Excellent. Dinner was a veal chop. Cooked perfectly, rustic and simple. Reminded me of cassoulet. The chef sent over white asparagus. Thanks! I have never tasted anything like this dish. Creamy with acidity and herbal. Topped with grated cheese. The staff brought us a lovely little crystal dish of homemade gelato with watermelon ice and strawberries. A set of chocolates came with the bill... which was an ipad tablet to pay and sign. And of we went with a quick goodbye to the chef.

Holy cow. I came for dinner alone at the bar and asked about the $10 bar specials, which apparently are sort of made up on the spot based on what you want. I ended up with a ceviche and a pasta, and they were by a margin the best food I've ever had in New Haven. I kind of want to retroactively take a star away from a couple of places now that I know this is an option. The pear and basil martini is also great, and Kelly was a dear. Even if the food weren't an ungodly level of good, I'd probably still be back. As is, you'll have to fight to keep me away!!!

Fantastic space, with high ceilings with decorative molding, engaging service, chef who is personally invested, great flavors, dishes well spaced apart. The entire experience couldn't have gone better. We read a negative review where you could just tell the reviewer was a nightmare, so we decided " we have to go there!!" Well we did go. And it was great. Thank you! Looking forward to returning. Beverages: Prosecco, Cremant de Bourgogne, Chianti. Dishes: bean dip, beet, tomato salad with feta cheese, scallops, pasta with hazelnuts, porchetta. Finish with a lemon/cantelope sorbet . We rolled out of the restaurant very happy

Dining at the Luke is like watching a beautifully choreographed dance. You walk into a warm reception area with tiny tables and comfy seats. You're handed a glass of champagne and told your table will be ready shortly. We were sat in the center-ish of the restaurant at one of the semi-circle booths (which I will forever request because I think it's the perfect seat). The lighting was dim and there were candles on the table. Chef puts hands and eyes on every single dish - often delivering them personally to your table. We started with the shrimp dish and burrata. Chef brought out a beautiful complimentary tuna appetizer with brown butter. Not only did it taste divine - the smell of the hot brown butter poured over tableside created the most decadent smell - rich, toasted and dreamy. For dinner, we shared the steak. It came with these perfectly tiny whole potatoes in a cream sauce and a parsnip mousse. It was all delicious! The environment, food, decor - everything - is so curated and sexy. Waitstaff is never seen standing around - everyone is constantly moving, helping, clearing, delivering...it's beautiful to watch. We were already talking about returning, and we had barely left our meal.

I can't tell you what was better the food, service, or the ambiance of this restaurant. Every part of this meal was a 10/10. We randomly stopped in last night and were surprised! Like a hidden gem. The cavatelli crab pasta was my favorite part of the meal we even kept it to dip our steak in the sauce. If you're looking for a special night I cant recommend this place enough.

We were welcomed with freshly baked bread and a warm gougère, which reminded me of Brazilian pão de queijo. For drinks, I enjoyed the French 75 along with the non-alcoholic Pamplemousse, while my niece ordered the non-alcoholic Guadalupe. To start, we each had the French onion soup, which was rich, flavorful, and comforting. We also shared the foie gras torchon, which my niece described as incredibly smooth and creamy. For our entrées, we ordered the filet of beef and the rack of lamb. Both were cooked to perfection, and I appreciated that neither dish was overwhelmed with gravy or sauce, allowing the quality of the meat to shine. For dessert, we shared the mixed berry soufflé and the Feuillantine. The Feuillantine was my favorite--it was wonderfully rich, chocolatey, and creamy. Pairing bites of the light, fruity soufflé with the decadent chocolate dessert turned out to be a delicious combination. To end the meal, the restaurant surprised us with complimentary pistachio macarons, which was a thoughtful finishing touch. The restaurant has an elegant atmosphere that feels refined without being stuffy. Combined with the outstanding food and exceptional service, it made for a memorable celebration, and I'd happily return.

When we arrived, we were nearing the end of the dinner rush. We were sat right away, unfortunately it wasn't all too romantic being sat in the middle of the restaurant but understandably the restaurant is on the smaller side. The waiter was attentive, and addressed any of our questions about the menu, even hunting down the bottle of pinot noir we ordered. We opted to start off our night by splitting a half-dozen oysters which came with their in-house hot sauce, and an order of pouple, which was cooked to perfection. For our entrees we selected the red wine braised lamb shank and the dry aged prime NY steak. Since sides for both entrees were not mentioned on the menu, we also ordered sides - wild mushrooms, brussels sprouts and crispy smoked peewee potatoes. Overall the food was excellent and I'm still dreaming about the mushrooms. If we lived locally, would we go back, maybe but overall we had a great experience. Since this was an upscale restaurant, I opted to not photograph our meals and enjoyed being present in the moment.

At nearly $600 for three people, I expected a lot more. The raw clams were some of the smallest I have ever been served, yet they had the audacity to charge $3 per clam. Same type of clams for the baked style as well so 2 terrible dishes off to start. Honestly, I would have been embarrassed to send portions like that out of the kitchen. The lamb chops I ordered were also shockingly small. The Chilean sea bass my girlfriend had was actually good and probably the highlight of the meal. Unfortunately, the steak my friend ordered was the complete opposite. It was extremely salty, and the supposed 24 ounce cut certainly did not look like 24 ounces of meat. The bone was impressively thick, but the actual meat was noticeably thinner than the bone. Not exactly what you expect when ordering a 24 ounce steak. The drinks were not much better. The martini we had at the bar was incredibly weak, and the caviar bump served from the cart was tiny and, frankly, underwhelming in quality. Service was good and the space has a nice atmosphere, and the live jazz was a nice touch but ultimately, you go to a steakhouse for the food, and that is where this experience completely fell apart. Nearly $600 for three people for food that was this inconsistent? Absolutely not worth it.

For my main, I had the penne. I loved the tomato cream sauce. I also got a side of onion rings. They were shoestring style, which I wasn't expecting, but they were piping hot and very tasty. My husband enjoyed his steak, but one should note that the dish is literally just steak, so you need to order sides separately if you want any accompaniments. For dessert, we had the lemon tart. It was lovely, especially with the accompanying berries. Our waiter was excellent. The only negative was that I asked for a special dessert and candle for my husband's birthday and they completely forgot. I even called earlier in the day to confirm they would be able to do it. So that was a slight disappointment, but otherwise it was a great meal.

The oysters were a little variable in size, but they were good. My almond-crust sole was good but could have been a little lighter on the almond. The filet mignon was good, though we cooked it a little longer at home. (It was cooked well, but the personal preference was a little more cooked.) I enjoyed the flourless chocolate cake ($12) too! I look forward to visiting in person someday soon.
