On hold for 3 minutes she comes back and asks whose calling (sorry not her business but gave the info), she said ok and tried to transfer again. Not sure what was going on no music no nothing just completely silent only reason I knew I wasn't hung up on as the phone was still connected. I hung up called again, same woman answered again no name said it was a new phone system and was having trouble was on hold over 7 minutes and she hung up on me this time. Employee needs to be retrained so she knows how to work the equipement. Persons cell phone wasn't working and the reason calling the hotel directly.

You can tell that they tried to clean it but it's very clearly still dirty We found a dead cockroach on the floor (at least it was dead). On a positive note, our breakfast hostess was amazing! She was so nice and got everything and anything the kids wanted and even made jokes and was funny. She was awesome. This is the kind of stuff I want to know when I'm looking to stay somewhere.

My husband and I are born/bred Mainers, looking forward to celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary at the Inn. We read the policy and booked two evenings. However, on our way up, our car broke down and we had to head home, trauma in itself. I called right away to cancel and explain the circumstances to the owners and hoped to receive some other future booking there, rather than loose our cash. The unfortunate answer was no. They refused to make any refund or bend their policy in any way. My husband wrote a kindly email explaining our situation, once again, but never received a reply. We understand the need for policies and support that, but flexibility for certain unavoidable circumstances should, we believe, also be considered. Their lack of any empathy to our situation and uncouth, unpolished manners reflects very poor customer service and cancels any future wish to ever stay at the Blue Hill Inn. These innkeepers are clearly from away and do not, in any way, mirror REAL Maine hospitality! So, if you book there, you'll loose your money, if you have to suddenly cancel, even for an unexpected accident or God forbid a death!!

Day 2 maintenance was called while I waited and door was finally repaired. Asked about room cleaning and they said someone would stop in on the third day. Day 3 we were told the desk clerk on day 2 forgot to put us on the list so they were not able to clean our room. During our stay I had to go get toilet paper and paper/plastic cups from them. No cleaning person showed up to restock those items or to empty trash. One positive note was the coffee machine in the breakfast area was finally working this morning.

It's easy to just park your car on main street or on the side of the inn and then from the minute you walk into the space, you are blown away at all of the decor and details that make it feel comfortable, classy and modern and at the same time so true to the inn's Victorian history. You can tell each corner of the inn has been decorated intentionally and with much care. Our room (#3) was comfortable, clean and had so many fantastic details like a signature smell, complimentary bath/shower items, and of course - the signature balcony (AMAZING!). The communal spaces are fantastic as well. The patio is gorgeous, the porch is so peaceful, and the pub is incredibly cozy and chic. Breakfast was delicious and they also offer coffee service upstairs outside of the rooms, which is such a great touch. The food and drinks at the pub are also outstanding!! For good reason, the restaurant books up fast so definitely always make a reservation whether you are staying or only coming for dinner but you certainly won't regret experiencing the cocktails (love the blueberry one..so Maine!) and the food. The menu is seasonal I believe but everything we tried was absolutely delicious. The ode to lobster on the menu was also quintessential Maine and so good.. my husband had lobster linguini. I had short rib sliders that were also amazing. If you get the chance to try the blueberry cobbler or chocolate tres leches, do it!! Those are two desserts my husband and I will never forget.
