We stayed at the hotel for a week and the customer service is really amazing! Everyone was extremely professional and friendly and went out of their way to make the stay great! 5/5 there! On the other side of things, the hotel rooms are extremely small and the bathroom has no ventilation outside of the window and even with opening that, expect that your room will get extremely damp. The floors are not kept well at least in the room we stayed in either. They were a little damaged in spots and I'm sure that some of that is from the moisture. There also were not a lot of places to plug in devices either. Also, staying for over a week we never once saw anyone sweeping the floors in rooms that people had left and/or we never heard a vacuum. The towels and bed sheets were clean. This brings up another note, when we did laundry there were dead cockroaches in the floor from where the hotel had not swept them up. I think we counted at least 6. It would have also been nice to have been able to use the swimming pool but it was also not open as advertised. It didn't open our entire trip and it was advertised to be open a few days after we arrived. Also some of the breakfast items were not available on the menu either and they ran out of most of the items as we progressed throughout the week. We planned a trip to Acadia National Park and I found Belle Isle Motel online and I liked the location. It is so close to the NP and downtown Bar Harbor. When we arrived check in was a breeze and the staff was very friendly. The room was very clean. The property itself was so cute and well kept. The pool looked nice although we did not have time to use it. We did use the fire pit in the back and it was awesome! Also, there's a restaurant next door called Sweet Pea's Cafe. Came to Bar Harbor on short notice cuz didn't know if I could get extra day off work. Called and looked on line and motels, hotels were very expensive. 300 and up a night. So found this place by accident. Booked it cuz reasonable. Breakfast is included, not the greatest, fruits, microwave foods and coffee, juice. I have to say that was one of the best coffees I've had. Rooms are small, it not that bad and bathroom is older and not comfortable, they give soaps and shampoos in dispensers. We were out of body wash soap by second night. You can have rooms cleaned or choose not to. All in all, spent 3 nights,probably could have done another if had time. They do have a pool, didn't have time though. Playground and fire pit. Grounds are well kept. It was busy. I guess it depends how much you want to spend. It's not too far a drive from center and the Acadia National Park. Glad I came. Probably will search more for a more comfortable place. But glad I got to see beautiful Bar Harbor and Acadia at a reasonable price. read more

We arrived on a Tuesday and there was a receptacle to put empty cans and bottles outside of our room, it was full to the brim with some falling on the walkway, on Thursday morning it was still full with more cans on the walkway, despite picking up the other receptacles the day before. How did it get that far; why wasnt empited before we checked in, it was obviously there for days ignored by staff and why did they empty the others when they finally got around it, except the one next to our room. Poor management and lack of oversight in the only answer. The rooms are rundown, the breakfast is horrible, the young women at the desk are very nice and someone keeps the grounds looking good but, otherwise, we wont be back and it was expensive considering their lack of cleanliness. read more

Beware!!! There is no manager on duty to take care of problems. We stayed at the motel in june 2026 because it had good reviews. We woke up to not having any water, and we were told it was a mechanical problem. The problem meant no shower in the morning which we were counting on, and this got our day off to a bad start. We found out later in the day they were actually fillig the pool, and that's why we didn't have any water. They weren't truthful, and when we asked to have an adujustment to our bill for our inconvenience, they ignored us. A funny thing that was left on the dresser was a card that said, "We care please share." How would you rate your experience? It's obvious that this place really didn't care with the way they handled our situation. We saw motels down the road for half the price, so don't waste your money. read more

Recently paid $1271 for 2 rooms for a three night stay. They charge your card a week before you arrive-no refunds. Upon arrival, an exterminator company was spraying pesticides along the entire walkway where individuals enter their rooms. My travel companion has severe allergies and is extremely chemical sensitive. I went to the front desk explaining we could not stay here for that reason. I understood their no refund policy but I didn't anticipate there would be heavy pesticides being sprayed everywhere. I requested 1/2 the payment be refunded since they would be able to re-rent both rooms for all three days. Flatly denied. Worst customer experience ever. Recommend you stay at the Best Western down the street - all newly renovated, heated outdoor pool and great customer service. read more

I only booked this hotel because of the rate and it's proximity to downtown Bar Harbor. Upon checking in (after I already received an invoice online for the days I would be there), they tacked another $100 on to my bill for my dog. Why say "pet friendly," have your rates posted on your website, know I have a dog, book my stay, and THEN add another $100 on to my bill?! Be careful. Don't book this unless you are sure you are going to actually stay here. I booked this motel on Expedia and was charged a $25 deposit. Expedia indicated I would get the money back if I cancelled by 9/4. I called and cancelled in August when our plans changed. When I called the motel to ask about the money, they said it was a deposit, not a cancellation fee and I would not get any money back. Then the person who answered the phone blamed Expedia for the wrong information. This is a clear money grab. First, most travelers know motel room deposits (in the US) are associated for events, not single night stays. I travel extensively and have never been charged a deposit at any motel. Also other motels in the area don't charge this fee. Second, don't blame Expedia for the confusion. If they are incorrect, fix it or be clearer about the nonrefundable fee when the room is being booked. I am disappointed. I enjoyed Maine hospitality; it's too bad that it fell short here. read more

Super simple but exactly what I expected based on the photos and price point. We booked our room here for around $80-90/night right before high season kicked off. (Sunday night during early June). Located just a few miles outside of Bar Harbor, I appreciated all of the attractions and eateries still located within walking distance of Belle Isle Motel. This roadside motel features a pool, campfire, laundry house, small but clean rooms with even smaller bathrooms. Honestly, my only complaint would be just how darned small the bathrooms are. Super-cheap, especially in the off-season. Rooms are completely serviceable. No hair dryer (I didn't realize that) or toiletries other than soap. No dresser. Just a few hangers, a desk, a mini-fridge, cable TV, and a queen bed. We didn't plan to spend much time there so it was just fine for the price. They have a pool, stuff for the kids to play with, a laundry onsite, and access to a little walking path. All in all, it was a great deal when all we needed was to rest after a day in Acadia. Hot water worked well. The bathroom looked recently (though modestly) redone, so it was all working and clean. The shower curtain was just a curtain, so it was thoroughly soaked after our hot showers. The staff was incredibly friendly. We'd stay there again. read more

Clean and friendly!! The outdoor pool is heated so even on cooler days the kids went in. About 15 minutes from downtown Bar Harbor so no hustle and bustle of night life. Only negative is that the rooms are a little small. Our 4 big suitcases really had no where to go but otherwise great. If you want a big room and a bath tub than try elsewhere but if you aren't spending along time in your room and can share space it's just right. read more

CHEAP and DECENT place to stay, this was by gar the cheapest location in Bar Harbor, just minutes from downtown. it turned out to be pretty nice, the staff was friendly. The rooms were simple but had all we needed. Clean sheets and a shower. The building was kinda old, it was right on the main road leading into bar Harbor. There was a broken down bus on the property. it was surrounded by woods and on the other side of the road more woods, but you could smell the sea. it had a swimming pool and was decorated with blue and white. A family owned and ran it, they were exceptionally nice. We walked to a crab stand the last night we were there and bought a 2 pound crab for 15 dollars. read more

Had a little car problem prior to our arrival to Belle Isle. Called up the office and the key was left for us at the office's mailbox. The room was nice and clean. Beds were comfortable. Mid size refrigerator, a personal cup coffee machine and a microwave in the room. The place was quiet. There was a pool but we didn't have a chance to enjoy it. Location was easy to find. About 15 minutes drive to downtown Bar Harbor. Staffs were friendly. Check in and check out was a breeze. Would definitely stay here again the next time we come to MDI. read more

I love this place! The new owners Darren and Camille have done an outstanding job here. You get the same great personal service as before. They have coffee and pastries in the office for breakfast and blueberries. Try the blueberries on a pastry...delicious! If you have a car or other vehicle, I suggest you stay at Belle Isle and save some cash. Their prices can't be beat for the quality of the units. It was inexpensive, clean, and comfortable, but the rooms are very small. It's also not very quiet. You can hear conversations (and more) going on in adjoining rooms and the sound of traffic on the highway. I stayed here 4 nights in October of 2014, but would not stay here again, mostly because of the noise factor. It's not very restful.. Good wifi signal. Pleasant enough outdoor grounds. Part of the noise problem I attribute to self-absorbed travelers who don't think twice about slamming doors, talking loud, and being noisy in general, no matter the hour. It's about 5 miles from the entrance to Acadia National Park, and about 8-9 from Bar Harbor, but an easy drive. read more

We had a great stay. It's no frills and nothing fancy, but has everything you need. Price was great compared to prices in Bar Harbor. It's about a 15 min drive to downtown but there are things to do /eat close by. The beds were comfortable. Pool was nice, it is heated but it was windy so a little chilly nonetheless. They have a fire pit going each night which was enjoyable. They have a swing set for kids as well and basketball hoop. For the location and price for this motel, you can't beat it. I believe we paid $67 something for the room. This is our second time staying here. If you are expecting a roomy, up to date room to sleep in, this isn't for you. The room is small and the bathroom is small but it's very clean! The owner Benita was very friendly and helpful! Also the other workers were very nice as well. This motel location is close enough to Ellsworth(where we had to go to for late night quick meals since most places closes between 7pm-9pm) and close enough to bar harbor stores, restaurants, and Acadia National Park. This place is also dog friendly which is awesome since we had no one to leave our dog to. But you can't leave your dog in the room unattended. They also have a heated pool, two chairs right outside your door so you can sit and relax after a long day, a fire pit towards the back of the motel, free ice, and a little doggy area where you can walk your dog. They have a laundry by the swimming pool, a vending machine, microwave. Oh and they also have a little coffee maker in each room. And they offer free wifi but I didn't get to use it because The connection would always fail but no biggie since we have our cell phones anyway. Our overall stay was good. I will definitely check in again at Belle Isle in the future. read more

This hotel has a million thoughtful touches. For example, there's an evening fire pit with not only chairs, but end tables for your drinks/snacks/belongings. There's a dog park area, a playground, and a pool. Each room has chairs on the porch, and recycle bins are readily available. There are two washers and two dryers ($2 each per load, quarters) available in a common area. The rooms are small but have lots of places to tuck your items out of the way, and they each have a fridge, microwave, desk, and chair. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with quick and easy access to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. read more

Not bad. It's definitely not the Hilton but its clean and the management is considerate. Our room was double booked. We had booked a king room for two nights and they had double booked our room for the first night. They put us in a queen room the first night at half off and offered us a Acadia pass for free. I saw both queen and king room and I seriously recommend the king. The queen is just big enough for the bed a mini fridge and a rocking chair. The king is much more spacious. I would stay here again as the rates were decent and it wasn't too far off the beaten path. read more

Right across the way on the same property is a microwave and washers and dryers that you can use and if you go down the road there's all kinds of places to eat and a Walmart. Great place! 6 mile drive from Bar harbor where all the touristy stuff is, 2 miles from the entrance to Acadia. And next door to some sunflower place. The room was tight, fitting a queen bed and barely the desk. But our motel room did have a coffee maker and hair dryer and an air conditioner. There was a not so heated pool and a shed like building next to it where you can find $2 coin-op laundry per machine, toasters, a microwave, vending machines and an ice machine. By the pool they also had a grill for everyone's use. Also, right by there were plenty of local restaurants to get lobster for about $15 for a 1 1/4 lb. read more

This motel was a great find for us, super cheap and very clean. The room was small, but that was fine since we were out about most of the days. It is a property that has been shown a lot of TLC. CUTE AND COZY!! The staff was so friendly and had so many great recommendations. The motel is close to the park entrance and just a shorter ride to Bar Harbor. The rooms were small but it made it feel cozy. Anyway your room should just be a place to sleep while you explore all day, and that's just what we did. They also had a cute set up in the back area for a fire pit every night underneath all those stars. This motel was the cheapest place around and I would recommend it to anyone. the prices are reasonable. the owner told me the highest priced rooms are the doubles which goes up to 84 a night and the queen beds are 65. we stayed in both room types. the single queen bed is really small and even the bathroom is really small but it's sufficient. it's got pretty much everything, i like the fact that they put the tv high up that you have to lay down on your bed to see it. the double beds are good size, like normal hotel size. overall i enjoyed my stay and i would love to bring my child there w/ me to the hotel some time. they've got a little place to light up a fire, see the stars and a children's playground. read more
