I would probably give the new Bar Louie a solid 3.5 stars. The food was good, the waitress was thorough, and the drinks were delicious. However the prices just were too high and some things were not listed correctly on the menu. I ordered a Kiwi & T, and it was wonderful. It had the perfect amount of sweetness with a mild herby finish. My husband ordered a New Old Fashioned and it was also perfectly done. The drinks were $12 each. They probablyshould have been $8-10, but honestly they were great tasting so whatever. Hubs wanted the grilled cheese, but he has an egg allergy and they use a brioche bread. He went with chili cheese fries, and said they were good. The menu still has the wings listed as 14 wings for $15.50, but you only get 10. For that price it should be 14 wings, and they should offer 6 for half the price. We ended up paying $60+ essentially for 2 appetizers and 2 drinks. For the prices, I highly doubt we'll be here that often if at all again in the future. read more

We chose to depart after not being visited by a server for nearly 15 minutes. I've had really good experiences at Bar Louie's other national locales through the years, so recollecting those experiences has kept this from not being a lower number. We stopped for Happy Hour and sat at a high top table in a busy bar area. Our waitress was Bre who seemed sweet but also rushed. My wife ordered a lemon martini which was really good and I ordered a Stella. All draft beer is $3.50 and they have about 8-10 to choose from. Another really nice waitress bought our food out and still another checked on us and bought out more drinks. Since Bre was busy with a large table, our service could have suffered but we never felt abandoned. I told the manager we were happy with our experience and he couldn't be nicer. Recently Black Fin went away and Bar Louie went up. There were some really smart alterations done inside to make the dinning area flow between the dinning area. They kept the TVs and we were able to catch the Master's and a reply of the Brewers game from the dinning area, when this was Black Fin we sat in the bar area at the high tops. Since this is now Bar Louie, their menu was smaller and tad bit different from Black Fin offerings, but we all were impressed with today's visit, except for one little overlook from our server. Two of the three of us ordered the Blue Louie Burger, with buffalo sauce, blue cheese crumbles, onions and pickles - no spinach and tomato to ruin this burger :) I had selected the Caesar salad as a side and my friend selected loaded tots as his side for his burger. Both good options as a side but there is a price increase. Our other friend ordered the Verde Chicken flat wrap and it was thoroughly enjoyed. He commented that when he orders flat bread that is usually a let down, but this is "excellent" as a direct quote. The ambience of the sports bar/grill was nicely done and the food was good, however our server passed by our table a half dozen times but failed to stop and ask if we required refill on our drinks. He could have been preoccupied and just not notice the empty glass that I placed in his full view coming or going from any one of his tables. Anyway, it is a pet peeve of mine as I was wait staff in my younger years, and yes I could have gotten his attention but if I am paying $12.50 for a burger and an additional $2.50 for a Caesar salad, attention to the guest should be on par with the food pricing. I sat there over 10min at the bar waiting while everyone was greeted and given a menu. I was given nothing, it was as if I didn't even exist. I noticed I was also the only African American in the establishment. I didn't feel welcomed at all and even when mentioned to an employee there was no concern or emotion from the staff. I don't recommend going if you are a person of color. This was my second attempt and I'm extremely disappointed. I hope you invest in a friendlier staff. read more

Excited to have a new restaurant in the neighborhood! Nice happy hour specials! 1/2 price appetizers! According to the website - Saturday and Sunday brunch! Looking forward to coming in again. Couple items to note: there was way too many people working near or around the bar - glasses were flying because individuals were trying to shake 2 drinks at a time and clearly not there yet. Lots of things dropping, servers not knowing where to drop off food, etc but everyone was very nice even through the chaos. Worst experience I've had in a long time. I've been here before and had a good time. This time was far from that. I arrived at 5:30 pm. I wanted 10 minutes before I went up to the bar and had to ask if I was suppose to come to the bar and order drinks. They said they would send a server over. He took our order, and then we never saw him again. We did not get our first drink until 6:10 pm. We had to change tables to finally receive it though. Our server was so rude and snarky I asked for a new server or the manager. He stated he was the manager. We could not believe a man of an establishment like this one would be such a rude person. Telling us " we didn't wait that long" for service. I think 40 minutes is a bit to wait when they weren't busy. He was the worst. His attitude was not only shocking to both of us, he should not be dealing with customers if that's how you allow your managers to treat customers. The bathrooms were disgusting. No toilet paper and garbage overflowing. All this on a Thursday evening. No thanks to the manager, we ended up with a wonderful server who backed up our experience with the " manager". I would never go back. It was truly the worst experience I've had in a long time. There are far better establishments that deserve your money. This is not one of them. Everything here is subpar. Not very often do I write reviews but this restaurant is not where you want to go for to go orders. I have been in the restaurants and would share that they "short" the portions from what they serve on site. Ordered the calamari for $16 and if there 10 pieces that would be generous. Also ordered a side of fries for almost $7 but would have thought that it would have been more than a small order from McDonald's. They did send 5 packets of ketchup. So had more ketchup than fries. Taste is great cost to portion size is terrible. Off the list for to go and dine in. read more

Soooooo sad that the one in Milwaukee closed permanently!!! They had the best happy hour specials for food, apps, and drinks, especially their martini's and cosmos!!! I loved that you can sit outside and enjoy the weather or sit inside and enjoy the interior. Regardless, I love Bar Louie's! Came here after our basketball game during the snow storm and it wasn't too busy! (go figure) but we grabbed a seat right away. We didn't have anyone seat us, we could seat ourselves, but our waiter came by right away. He was really friendly and let us know what specials they had going on. I saw on their menu they had $2 Mimosa's for that day! Killer deal, and they tasted great! He made sure our drinks were always filled and we didn't have to ask for anything. I tried their avocado toast with eggs, salad, and hash browns. It was really good! Paired well with my mimosa! We had a great time at the new Bar Louie last night. Myself and 11 coworkers all head over around 5:00 with no reservations (not even sure if they take them?). They were very accommodating of our large group, and our server was able to keep up very well. She was attentive and kept the refills of food and drinks coming, while still giving us the space to network and chat together. We made it in time for happy hour, which goes until 7:00pm on weekdays. This includes discounted wine, specific appetizers, martinis and draft beer. We sure kept our server busy with our numerous refills on drinks and snacks. I started with the Strawberry Lemonade Sangria - it was very sweet, and I had hoped for a little more lemonade to sour it up, however it was still tasty. After this I moved onto the Louie's Cosmo for the rest of the evening - these were made nicely without being overly sweet. For appetizers we ordered the nachos, the bavarian pretzel, the pepperoni flatbread, the roasted veggie flatbread, the hummus and the spinach/artichoke dip. I would say that the only thing we didn't particularly care for was the veggie flatbread - nothing was really bad about it, everything else was just much better. The pepperoni flatbread have giardianera on it which added and awesome vinegary/spicy kick and a nice crunchy element (we ended up ordering a couple more of these). The pretzel appetizer came with two and they were the size of the frozen kind you get and microwave at the grocery store. The queso dipping sauce was great, and had a solid spicy kick to it! The hummus was tasty, but we ran out of veggies early compared to the large portion of hummus. The spinach/artichoke dip was super creamy and cheesy, really delicious. Overall I was really happy with our visit. The food, drinks, atmosphere and service were all great! I also noticed how beautiful their patio is and appreciate the extra effort put forth with the nicer furniture and fireplaces to amp up what otherwise is a patio overlooking a huge parking lot. I had never eaten at a Bar Louie before last night. The service was good. No major issues. The bathroom was clean. I had the salmon sliders with fries. We waited a little longer than I expected. The restaurant was not busy (Covid) and none of my party ordered anything requiring long prep time. The salmons sliders tasted great. I don't eat a lot of fish but when I do it's usually salmon. Bar Louie has a bar-like atmosphere, but food that is head and shoulders above the typical tavern menu. My husband and I were happy to see the new location come to Brookfield Square, which has essentially become a mall of better-than-average chain restaurants. The casual, airy atmosphere of Louie is a perfect choice for a warm summer day. There's lots of seating outside of the bar area. The booths are particularly nice and spacious. I suspect the designers took into account that the people of Wisconsin have to haul around a heavy winter wardrobe for half the year, so teeny tiny booths won't cut it. I love to spread out and need lots of room for my giant purse, so I was particularly fond of being seated in a booth. We started our meal with the spinach and artichoke dip. We have eaten a lot of spin-dip, but this one neared perfection. It was creamy, cheesy, and had identifiable hunks of artichoke, spinach, and bacon. It wasn't goopy, thick, too mayo heavy, or runny. Paired with warm, hearty tortilla chips, and lightly dusted with parmesean cheese, this was perhaps my favorite S&A app of all time. The portion is perfect for two, though I would shamelessly order this alone and eat it all. I noted some diners next to us chatting and neglecting their dip. I was temped to walk over and take it off of their hands, rather than see it go to waste. For his entree, my husband had Gastroburger. This thing was a mouthful. It was perfectly cooked, smothered in caramelized onions, queso, and garlic aioli. The burger came with hot, super crispy tater tots. My husband is big french fry guy, but he took a chance on the tots and was not disappointed. Bonus, the Tuesday special was $5 burgers, so it was a real value too. I ordered the quinoa salad with added chicken. The dressing was light and lemony and the lettuce was perfectly crisp. my biggest criticism was really the lack of quinoa. I saw a few bits speckled about, but a more generous sprinkling would have been welcome. It also needed a bit of salt and pepper, which wasn't provided on the table. That's an odd, somewhat petty complaint, but the humble combination of S&P goes a long way on a salad. Our server was delightful. She was very honest in her shared love of fries, but admitted that the tots were her side piece when French fries weren't looking. She was very efficient, quick to refill beverages, and fetched me some salt and pepper with a quickness. Overall, the Bar Louie experience was solid. It would be a great place to gather with friends, have a quick lunch, or sit and enjoy a sports game. Very dishonest tipping device. STAY AWAY!!! My husband and I and some friends went to Bar Louie in Brookfield for Happy Hour Wednesday night. When we asked for our bill the server brought over an electronic handheld device and told each of us what our bill was. Ours was $34.00. We were not given a paper receipt to look over the charges. We asked for one to look over our charges and she said we would get one after we signed the bill. On the device we added a 20% tip. That tip turned out to be $11.00, not $7.00 like it should have been. When I asked the server why when our bill was $34.00 the 20% tip was $11.00 she said because they calculate the tip on the full price, not the happy hour price. This is very dishonest. Our friends ended up paying $8.00 more for a tip than they wanted, and we ended up paying $4.00 more. I called the manager about this and he said he would call me back but he did not. They have lost 5 customers. Their prices are high, the food is marginal, and their billing system is dishonest. read more

I have been wanting to try this place for a while. The food was really good. I had the Babalouie-a take on a Cuban sandwich. My friend had cheese steak French dip. Both were very good. We did get delivery due to COVID, but the food was fresh and well packaged. We hope to order again or even go in person to try more of their menu. They have a very large menu and while it may be a bit pricey the portions are large and seem worth the money. The combinations on the burgers seem interesting and a bit different. They offer tots and fries as sides as well as salads for those that are interested. Just got out of this restaurant about an hour ago. IMMEDIATE food poisoning. The worst thing is: the food wasn't even close to being worth it (not that any food would be worth all the stomach pain, vomiting, and diarrhea... but this place was just not even good to begin with). I had a fried chicken sandwich with honey that was marketed as "hot" and with "jalapeño". Neither of those things were true or executed correctly. The pickles were so average. 06/28/19. 6:00pm for Two reservation, outside seating. We got there at 6pm, keep in kind with a reservation, were greeted with "No outside tables are open, if you can wait we can come get you from the bar". The bartender was nice, and treated us well. Waited 20 minutes to finally get a seat. Did not receive service for 15 minutes, had to ask someone to get the waiter/waitress to come to the table. We ordered everything right away, including food. Waiting another 20 minutes for drinks, I could've gone to the bar and grabbed them in 5 minutes. Finally got food, which tasted nicely. Waitress left check without a pen, had to go and ask someone for a pen. I could've served myself better than the actual waitress, horrible services. Jacob, I'd advise looking at your staff. I'm in town on business and the $9.95 lunchtime menu sounded like a good deal. Totally NOT worth a good deal. The food was average and the service was poor. I got there a little after the typical lunch hour but the staff was unfriendly and very unenthusiastic. I ordered the fish sandwich which was ok but my server was nowhere to be found when I wanted extra tartar sauce ( which no one told me it would cost an extra $.50). I don't care about the extra cost, just want to be informed. Lastly, when I initially placed my order, I asked for two checks to split up the food and wine. Of course one check arrived when I was finished my meal. Bottom line... I will not be dining at a Bar Louie again. I don't need service to be super attentive, but a little attentive and friendliness would be nice. If you've been to one Bar Louie, you've probably been to this one. In the former Blackfinn Ameripub of Brookfield Square, this seems to be a trend with Blackfinn closing and Bar Louie coming in to occupy the space. I don't frequent Bar Louie namely because of the locations in Milwaukee in relation to where I live (it just never is a place I'd be willing to drive out of my way to get to). But since my last visit 2 years ago, there have been some pretty great menu changes/additions. I happened to go with a few friends on a Tuesday night (burger special night) while happy hour was going on. We got 2 apps (chicken quesadilla and pretzels), each a burger (there were 3 of us in total), and 2 beers each, and our bill came to $49.xx before tip. Having a location closer to home, and knowing of the menu changes/additions (the spiked churros dessert sounded great), I'll definitely make a return visit fairly soon. read more

Well this time, we barely missed the happy hour cutoff which was fine, but I was not expecting a menu without prices to see that I had a $100 bill for my fiancé and I after having dinner and just 2 Martinis each when happy hour says they are 6.50 each, but when it's not happy hour, they're $12. Just seems a bit sly to not have prices on your menu but to charge half price for happy hour was a bit confusing. Good food and drinks, but my friends and I won't be returning. Calamari app was thin, overdone, and both under and over seasoned. Some pieces had so much salt or cayenne that they were unpalatable. Wedge salad was not at all as advertised. Heavy on pickled onions and pepperoncini, cheap blue cheese, no more than 1/2 piece of bacon total - $10.50. Luigi sandwich was ample but dry. Tots were good. Atmosphere and service get a four. Table of 6. Tables next to us of 4 both had service almost immediately. We had to ask the hostess for our waiter. Then he came over and told us (20 minutes in by the way) that they were virtual menus. Then he took our orders and forgot our water so we had to go to the bar to get it. Then we kept getting other people's orders.... the 9.50 potstickers were 6 over fried and tasteless. Then one person got their meal 10 minutes before anyone else. $17 salad was a head of lettuce with 4 pieces of shrimp and a dash of everything else. So basically 17 for lettuce. The quinoa salad isn't a quinoa salad...a head of lettuce with MAYBE a teaspoon of quinoa is barely salad. Then we got our Bill and we were charged for extra fries that were supposed to come with a meal anyway and an extra order of potstickers that we didn't order. The service is always great! I throughly enjoy the bar each time and feel as though I get checked in on in timely manners but am able to have my own conversations. The food is at times hit or miss, but that's most restaurant chains I feel like. Either way I come for the good times, conversations and getting out! Definitely will return! Fun and inviting atmosphere! I saw that there was a power outage and some other yelper was upset that she felt the manager was racist. Well... only giving one star because the service was SOOOOO bad it can hardly make up for the fact that the food...once we got it was pretty decent. It was NOT too busy when we arrived, and many things were unavailable on the menu. We were simply told to "go to a particular table", no mention of the virtual menu, no waters, drink orders or anyone paying us any attention for close to 15mins. Once we finally got our order in and drinks, we received no plates for the appetizers, silverware, napkins etc... even AFTER asking for them- I, myself had to get up to go ask another server for these items and when we received them they were dirty. Most employees in the place were practically moving in slow motion the whole time. In general it was a terrible experience that took over 2 hours. A great place for late night eats! I'm in town for work and decided to come to Bar Louie. There was a small issue that happened and they made a great gesture and provided me with excellent customer service. The two bartenders were very kind and apologetic about the mistake made.
