    Nachos
    Thom Y.

Visited this restaurant yesterday with a group of 7 at around 6:15. Restaurant was somewhat busy but service was quick, friendly and efficient. Drinks, appetizers and meals all arrived quickly with sufficient time to take orders, share appetizers, etc. The nachos were plentiful but the toppings were a little scarce, the cheese curds were excellent, very crisp coating served with two dips. I had the Parmesan crusted chicken which was served with roasted potatoes and egg plant. The chicken was very tasty, could have used a few more grape tomatoes but the potatoes and egg plant were tasteless. If they were seasoned you wouldn't have known it. The serving size was large enough to make a take home meal for me. Also had a vodka gimlet served in the usual rocks glass, shortest fill I've ever experienced. My bill for the drink and dinner was $34.75 without tax and tip, a happy hour discount was applied but the bill wasn't clear just how much my savings were since we paid for everything on one card. Total bill for the seven of us was $325.93 discounted to $273.53, so with $65.19 tip came to $338.72. It was a decent experience for a first visit. Also kudos to the staff, I left my jacket behind and when I returned later that evening they had put it aside for me.

This was not good ! I booked a room nearby for the wife's birthday. We grabbed take out and was extremely disappointed FAST. Fries were ice cold and soggy . Coleslaw tasted like water, sauces was all smashed inside of the containers so they were spilled all over our food, macaroni and cheese tasted like nothing just pasta and butter. Salmon was extremely dry. This was a very disappointing birthday meal! Especially for the first time eating here . no flavor at all extremely cold and not cooked properly wish I could get a full Refund

A couple friends and I went out for a lunch get-together recently - it was all of our first time at Bar Louie and I was pleasantly surprised. As it was early afternoon on a weekday, it wasn't super busy and were able to be seated outside on the patio right away. I got the Green Goddess sandwich with fries as a side and the strawberry lemonade sangria. The sandwich was tasty and surprisingly filling. The only negative was that I felt the sandwich could have used a little bit more salt - it was just lacking a tiny bit in flavor. I dipped it in hot sauce they provided and it was really good that way! The fries were really good - cooked crispy on the outside, right thickness, seasoned properly! The sangria was also good - light, refreshing, and a little sweet. Very good on a warm sunny day! The reason for the four stars is because while our waitress was very attentive at the beginning with taking our orders and bringing out the drinks, the food did take a little while to come out and then afterwards we didn't see her for a while when we needed something, which was odd given that it wasn't very busy.

In truth, probably closer to 3.5 stars but I rounded up. Came here for an early Saturday evening dinner. The first thing to note is that it looks like the sort of spot where you would wait for the host to seat you. Not so--it's open seating. Simply find yourself a spot. My dining companion and I easily found a table and were greeted immediately. After perusing their beverage menu, I opted to start things off with a classic old fashioned. The beverage was well made. For my meal, I got their caesar salad with salmon added. I loved the portion of salmon, which was definitely generous. The salmon itself tasted fresh but was a bit overcooked. The caesar itself was ok. I couldn't really discern any parm. I think it was on there--I just think it was powdered (not my favorite). The service was lovely throughout the evening and the prices were reasonable.

Never had any food here but the drinks are good and strong. A nice place to connect with friends.

We stopped in for lunch in the middle of the week between appointments. I will admit I did not have high expectations as I had been here a few years ago and I was less then impressed. We were seated immediately however, it took about 10 minutes for a server to come to the table despite only having 3 tables sat at the time. Once our order was taken the service improved and she checked on us regularly. The restaurant is aesthetically pleasing and the tables are nicely spaced apart. If it were crowded there would be no issue walking through the dining room. The bar looked like a fun pace to sit and we will likely go back to try dinner and see if we have any luck. The hot honey chicken (lunch) and it was absolutely delicious! The chicken was crispy and had a good flavor, the sweetness of the honey complimented it well. The Buffalo Chicken Wrap was mediocre at best. The fries were good, but did not get very many - portion sizes continue to decrease. All in all, it was a good and quick stop for lunch.

Date of visit: October 12, 2023 I was a bit wary when a friend suggested a group gathering at Bar Louie; I remember going to the one at Bayshore and finding it impossible to hear a word that anyone said! Thankfully this was a much better experience, with classy ambiance and comfortable seating, plus a space that allowed our group to talk freely and easily. Destiny, our server, was friendly and accommodating, but in a slightly fake way. Her platitudes and compliments were the exact same that she foisted upon other tables, taking something that felt special initially and making it hollow. That being said, she was very attentive and I appreciated the service. My food was just okay; the BBQ Boneless Wings were a bit overdone, as though they had been left in the fryer just a little too long. It didn't kill the meal, but it definitely dried out the wings and I needed a fair amount of ranch to revive them. I didn't bother complaining since they were a happy hour special and were half off; I would have sent them back if they had been the full price $15.25!

Hadn't been to a Bar Louie in over a decade and thought I'd check out the happy hour. Not quite what I remembered but then again times are changing. The portions are sizable, but the quality has definitely gone down. Calamari are very thin with lots of breading boneless wings, not very tender. The tater tots were full price at $12.75. I understand rising food cost but for three appetizers and a soda, we could have gotten a 3 course steak dinner for 2 for the same price across the parking lot. Service was friendly enough and timely.

Robin was great. Best service I received all year. Order was prompt. I was in and out with time to spare on my lunch break.

Decent size parking lot available for diners! This spot is a bit rurally located, but a treasure in the rough. The interior is uniquely Wisconsin, blending dive bar with supper club to create an approachable, laid back atmosphere. The bartender was friendly and conversational, yet kept his distance when not needed! The Old Fashioned menu was large, with unique spins on the classic Brandy-forward drink in this neck of the woods! I went with the Haunted Brothel, which had a lovely nuance of chamomile tea and ginger beer to give it a distinct taste! I'd absolutely go back to try another one of the many offerings on the menu!

They have a robust old fashioned menu--all made the Wisconsin style. We ordered the barrel aged old fashioned and asked if it could be made in the classic style (and specified without soda). Our server said, 'of course!' Annnnnd--then we got our drinks and they were both Wisconsin style. Not a huge deal and we did enjoy but a word of warning to those who favor a classic old fashioned with no wash--might have a hard time with that here. For our second cocktail, we got Manhattans which were better! For an appetizer, we were waffling between the spinach artichoke dip and the brussels sprouts. Our server recommended the spinach artichoke dip so we went with that. The dip was flavorful and the tortilla chips are house made. It was good! For my main, I got their eggplant parm, which was ample, saucy, and served on a bed of pasta. I definitely couldn't eat it all in one sitting. It was delicious. Our server was attentive and the prices are reasonable. Get to it!

I shared two vegetarian dishes with a friend, a tomato burrata risotto I'm still thinking about) and a beat pesto that was a little bland. One of my highlights was the blush cocktail with pink peppercorn and passionfruit that tasted so refreshing and summery. Our table also tried three desserts, and the plates were scraped clean. just passing through town, and as always, turned to Yelp. I would like to give 5 stars to bring up…read more the rating up because I think they're a 4.5 star restaurant. We were impressed by the Gray's root beer and ginger beer. Love them serving truly local brewed sodas. The root beer was a little vanilla heavy but I liked it because I don't like most root beer. The ginger brew was EXCELLENT, and I know my ginger beers. Now I have to find out where I can buy it. We consider ourselves calamari aficianados (self-proclained, of course.). We were stoked to try it based on all of the rave reviews. Alas, this is the dish that most drop the rating for us. The calamari pieces were very small, very tough and the batter blew off. Weirdly, it showed up so close to our ordering it that I wondered if something was wrong. Was the oil so hot that the usual cook time was now too long? We're they trying a new vendor and these very small pieces cooked WAY to fast. In any case, I suggest they relook at the quality control on that dish. Below I send a photo of all the batter that fell off in the serving dish. It was a nice sized order and tasted like very good rubbery, miniature calamari. My husband ordered the pork chop and it was delicious. It was so moist and I didn't know whether that was due to brining, sous vide, bone in, or just the best preparation I've ever had. And his plate was full of potatoes and brussel sprouts. Couldn't have been happier. I had the walleye (only on Fridays) and it was a beautiful, thick fillet cooked to perfection. The potatoes were delicious, albeit not as pesto as I expected. But skin on and purple potatoes showed me a commitment to quality ingredients. There was also a nice slaw on my plate. I like that their plates had a starch and a vegetable; kind of like the restaurant days of old. No nickel and diming the customer with ordering all your sides. Heck, skin on potatoes and the more-nutricious purple potatoes are like vegetables as well. Service was great and the restaurant was nice and warm despite it being a very cold day. That means a lot to me as an "older" customer We will definitely come back and even maybe try the calamari because our tiny ringlets and tentacles didn't look like any of photos I have seen.
