Mind blown! Visiting the vicinity for a graduation and chose Bar Lucca on a whim. We live in NYC so often are disappointed with restaurants elsewhere. BL was top notch! The appetizers: the calamari and Brussels sprouts were especially stand outs. And the pizzas were also delicious. The tartufo and the one with arugula and prosciutto- so yum. Food was really good. Service at the bar...subpar. We ordered the fried eggplant small plate which was crispy, topped with a refreshing slaw of brussel sprouts. We also ordered a pizza to share. It's more than enough for two people. The pizza has a nice char on the bottom and comes with some hot oil on the side. I didn't really use the hot oil, though. Looks like a cool space on the outside but we experienced the strangest situation. After having dinner in the area we see the spot, park, walk in, and say to the hostess "hi, it's two of us". We notice, there's a few tables open, the back patio has some open space, and there's also space at the bar. The hostess doesn't greet us, looks at us like "Why are you here?" walks away, comes back after a few minutes and says "there's no tables available" we say "that's okay, can we post up at the bar?" (which is clearly open), she replies "No". Sooo... "could we wait for something to open up?" "No" "So we gotta go home? " Yes" Other folks are walking up behind us and just grabbing a seat. Our money is clearly not welcomed here. After decades of drinking/dining out I have never had an experience like this. We were willing to wait, come back in a few, sit at the bar maybe? Nope. You just gotta leave - despite the empty seats and folks coming in behind us - no explanation. Super fishy. read more

Cute spot tucked in the heart of Conshohocken. Having their own parking lot is definitely a plus. Dropped in for lunch Sunday afternoon around 1 and was promptly seated. We shared the Tartufo Neapolitan pizza which was divine. I went with the Tuscan Huevos, which was tasty but not super filling. Friends ordered the frittata and pasta dish which seemed to be more than enough to pack and take home. Will definitely come back to try dinner, cute date spot. read more

Ordered the sausage pizza and gnocchi. Service was quick and the food came out pretty fast after we ordered. The gnocchi was yummy, however the pizza was completely burnt on the bottom (see picture). Bar Lucca was a totally pleasant surprise. We are in Philly for a family visit, but staying in KOP and wanted to dine in a location convenient to family and hotel. Bar Lucca exceeded our expectations, the staff are welcoming, courteous, and professional. While the rooms downstairs were noisy, we were fortunate that tables were open upstairs where conversation was easy. Then came the food; the meatballs were to die for, succulent, flavorful and moist with an excellent tomato sauce with fresh basil and cooked cherry tomatoes. The Tartufo Neapolitan pizza seemed like it came directly from one of Stanley Tucci's favorite spot in Naples. Cheese, truffle oil, and carmelized onions blended deliciously over perfectly baked pizza dough. Lastly the salt bead loaf and olive oil were a wonderful coda on which to close a harmonious meal. Cocktails were pretty good too! We will return as soon as we can to sample other menu items. Highly recommended!!! read more

We came here for Conshocken restaurant week I believe. I've lived in this area for my whole life but haven't been to that many restaurants here so we figured we would give Bar Lucca a try. My husband and I ordered the 3 course menu. I was confused because on the menu online it had the meatballs listed as an apetizer, but on their menu at the restaurant it didn't. I inquired about it and our waitress said I could get it as my apetizer if I wanted, but it will cost a few dollars extra. I was annoyed, but said yes cause I really wanted to try them. They were pretty good and I think the best part of the meal. For my 2nd dish I got the chef's risotto which was octopus risotto. While I was eating it I noticed it didn't look like any octopus was in there and it tasted like regular risotto. I asked my waitress if I was accidentally given the shrimp risotto and she said I don't know, maybe. She took it back then later informed me that it was the correct risotto, but she still brought me out a replacement one. If it was in there it must have been shredded to tiny pieces because I didn't see any. I ordered the pork cheek and my husband ordered the ox tails. Both dinners were bland and lacked flavor. I also didn't like the presentation of the dinner, both were in a bowl slopped on top of some vegetables and puree. I don't like my foods all running into each other. The food price definately didn't match the food quality. I think the next time we want to eat a decent dinner we will just have to go to Philadelphia instead. read more

PROS: Our server was amazing. In addition to being a friendly and attentive server, she was super sweet and playful with my daughter. We sat on the outside terrace, which was really nice. We had the burrata to start and were very happy with it. My husband had the gnocchi for his entree and that was quite yummy. My daughter wanted vanilla ice cream which they didn't have, and the server suggested their sweet corn gelato instead. We were skeptical but my 4-year old devoured it! It was a fantastic recommendation from the server. CONS: I'm a carbonara junkie. I have had it all over the world, including in Italy where they do the whole raw-egg-on-top thing (yum). I am always on the hunt for italian restaurants in my region that serve carbonara. So, when I read the online menu for Bar Lucca I knew I had to check it out. Unfortunately, Bar Lucca's take on it beared no resemblance--literal or figurative--to any carbonara dish (or variation thereof) I have ever had. I was totally fine with the fact that they use radiatore instead of a long noodle variation (it's the flavor profile that's most important to me, not the noodle shape). But the dish was essentially radiatore in an orange, spicy, cream sauce. It was good, but it wasn't carbonara (as I know it). So that was a bummer for me. There were lots of other tempting dishes on the menu, however, so we will definitely be back. read more

Bar Lucca is a Conshy gem. I just picked up dinner and the staff couldn't be more friendly even in difficult times. They have adapted their business with no loss in quality. Bar Lucca is a perfect spot for a long work lunch. When they have their regular lunch menu the eggplant sandwich can't be missed. On the weekends the place is packed and a little loud at times but it's a fun vibe that makes you forget you're not in the city. You can't go wrong with the Bucatini and any of the salads. read more

Wonderful rustic Italian restaurant with great food, awesome drinks and excellent service. This was our first time dining here and it won't be the last. Victoria our server was excellent. She started by making sure our table did not wobble and kept our water glasses full. Since this was our first time she explained the menu to us as well as offered suggestions. She also told us about the other two sister restaurants that are also in the area. We started with the homemade bread and the meatballs for our appetizer. One bite and we knew we'd be back. The testaroli and the short rib thin crust were just as awesome as the meatballs and just the right size for sharing. To finish the evening we had the Nutella doughnuts. They were light and sweet with just the right amount of Nutella. Everything about Bar Lucca was outstanding. read more

My boyfriend and I absolutely loved the menu and vibe at Bar Lucca. The food is out of this world delicous and fresh fresh fresh! We sat at the pizza bar and decided we would sit there every time we go back, which we will, many times. The guys making the pizzas were really friendly and seemed genuinely happy to be working here as did all of the ktichen staff. From the pizza bar you see the behind the scenes of the restaurant and more than once the kitchen staff were dancing and laughing having a good time. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly. It was great to see people who actually enjoy what they're doing! The Margarita pizza was made right before our eyes and was oh so delicious, the perfect blend of cheese, sauce and basil. The best part for me was the crust that was sprinkled with garlic, I usually leave pizza crust behind but it was too good to not eat. We also had the fettucine which again was delicous, I think it was our favorite dish of the night. Initially we weren't sure about the pine nuts, but it gave the pasta a little crunch witht eh rich cream pesto sauce which was nice. Last, for dessert... we had... the clams. I cant even describe the flavors of the broth and boy was there plenty of it! After we had eaten all of the clams my boyfriend and I ate the broth like a soup with our spoons and dipping bread. Go! Try Bar Lucca, you won't be disappointed! *Update* 2 days later we went back! We couldnt resist, this time we ordered the purple potato soup, which didnt have as much flavor as i had hoped it would but the fortes pizza made up for it. TALK about FLAVOR dear lord it was packed with it, the sour from the pickled onions, spiciness of the chiles and the richness of the gorgonzola cheese all went so well together piled onto that delicious crust. This was my first time at Bar Lucca. My husband and I were meeting another couple. I had never been to the old place, but my friend had and they were very impressed with the renovations. I arrived early and sat at the bar. I was promptly greeted and handed a menu. I ordered the lemontini. It was quite tasty. I was disappointed that I wasn't given the happy hour menu. I found out about that on my second drink. I ordered the house red wine they had on tap, I believe it was a Karamoor, a local winery. It was great. I really enjoyed the lightness of it. We were seated and greeted by our server, who let us know it was one of her first days. I never would have been able to tell because her service was spectacular. She was really on top of everything from taking orders, filling waters, reordered cocktails. She was phenomenal. Kudos to Bar Lucca for making a great hire. We ordered the clams as an appetizer. They were ok. I really think it's a personal preference, there was an herb in there that I'm not totally keen about, but again that was my personal preference. I ordered the sea bass. It.was.amazing. I could have easily had a second portion. It was melt in your mouth good. My husband ordered the goat. He enjoyed it, but didn't like the red sauce as much. I tried it and thought it was great. Very nice makeover of a popular neighborhood spot. Sat at the bar for lunch on Friday. The place was packed with every table filled. Our bartender was great. Very friendly. Very fast service which was appreciated especially since the place was so crowded. The food however was just ok. The pizza was tasty but soggy and limp. My crab sandwich was also tasty but had very little crab and a lot of bread, and at $13 not a great deal. The fries that came with the sandwich were excellent, but the portion was very small. Can do better in the area for food for less money. Would stop back for drinks at the very nice bar. read more

As we stay in Plymouth Meeting, Conshohocken is our go-to place for nice dinners. One of our favorite restaurants in the area is Blackfish. El Limon, positioned at a completely different price point, is also great. I was hoping that Bar Lucca, a restaurant whose mailing list I have been on for a long while but had never gone to until today, would meet the high standards set by some of its neighbors. Sadly it fell quite a bit short. Our reservation was for 10:15 p.m. Unlike other places in Conshohocken where finding parking can be sometimes a bit tricky, it was very easy to get a spot, given the parking lot adjoining the restaurant. Once in the restaurant at the mai‧tre d's desk, we expressed an interest in sitting outside and our request was accommodated. Being able to sit outside certainly was enjoyable as the evening had cooled down considerably. For our food, we went with the charred octopus for appetizer, and the boar pappardelle and sea bass for our main courses (and yes, we had read some of the reviews on Yelp earlier which explains these choices!) The charred octopus appetizer came out very quickly. It was undoubtedly the biggest disappointment of the evening. The octopus was devoid of any flavor and it was tough to even cut with a knife and fork. The other components of the dish that came with it - the celery hearts or the red potato - did not complement the dish at all in my opinion. On to the main course, my wife had the seabass and it was very, very good. The crispy skin of the sea bass along with a nice accompaniment of squash puree and zucchini noodles made for an excellent dish. However, the pappardelle I had was nowhere nearly as good. It was severely under-salted and somewhat underseasoned. It is common for me to ask for crushed red pepper at Italian restaurants given my palate but it is quite unusual for me to ask for salt and sprinkle salt in such gay abandon on my food. (And I believe, the level of salt I desire in my food is not higher relative to the average American.) So that was it as far as food was concerned. As the dishes did not impress us (and the octopus was a distinct disappointment), we decided to pass on dessert. Our total bill pre-tip came to approx. $57. Service was reasonable. I love it when restaurants leave a pitcher or carafe at the table and that was the case here. The waitress did come and check with us from time to time, though it took her some time to get me the salt that I so desperately needed with my pappardelle. Also something I found a bit annoying was the fact that the main courses were brought out while we were still in the middle of working on the appetizer. That is not something I see very commonly and for good reason. Overall, would I go back to Bar Lucca? Unlikely. There are many other restaurants in the Conshohocken area which I am yet to try out so I am much more likely to try those out than come back here. Again if you are looking for a nice place in the area and don't have the same luxury I do as a local of trying out many different places, then I would highly recommend trying out Blackfish, less than a mile away on Fayette Street. read more

Came here on a beautiful Saturday afternoon and enjoyed a delicious glass of wine and a steak sandwich! The atmosphere was very nice with good music and the service was fast, I just wish the server was more caring, she didn't check on us that often and she brought the check before she ask if we wanted dessert which we did eventually order. The only thing about my steak sandwich is that it was not very Rich with flavor. The meat was good, the cheese was good as well as the bread, but the overall taste wasn't rich enough, too dry. Found this little gem thanks to you, yelpers! Thanks for doing what you're doing :) The man and I came here on a Saturday night, they easily fit in our party of two around 7 with same day reservations, so they must get a bunch of walk-ins because it was busy when we arrived! We sat upstairs which was super cozy, I'd love to come back when it's warmer out too! Cute bar upstairs as well. We started with the burrata appetizer, which is a crostini with burrata tomato and basil, we are a little obsessed with burrata these days and it totally hit the spot! 4 pieces so shareable for sure. We couldn't decide, so we ended up sharing three courses total and some vino for our romantic evening! Next up was the tartufo pizza - mushrooms, ricotta, goat cheese, caramelized onions, and black truffle oil - we basically licked the plate! Pizzas are about 11" so good for sharing as well! We probably could have stopped here but frankly didn't want to because everything was so darn good, and the smells from nearby tables were taunting us! So obviously we had to finish our carb-loading with the house-made pasta. We shared the bucatini, which came highly recommended among yelpers as well as by our waitress. In contrast to the other things we ordered, the portion size was smaller, perfect for a small meal for one or with appetizers! It's made with chilis and definitely packs some spice, so beware if spicy is not for you!. I have no pictures because everything looked so good when it came out that we devoured it immediately. The amount of food we ordered was perfect for us, though our waitress awkwardly kept letting us know that if we were full she could cancel the pasta order (she repeated this 3 times) haha so clearly she felt otherwise. Decided to go here due to good Yelp reviews and $$ cost. Well I'm sorry this was easily $$$ spent $80 without tip on 2 drinks 1 starter a pizza & entree. I got a tequila cocktail that honestly doubt there was any tequila in. Shared "oil tasting" which was fine. Spouse got pizza Margarita which was ok, crust was chewy. I got swordfish meatballs which no only had very little flavor in the meatball itself but there was so little polenta and sauce the entire dish was not good .... and that's VERY RARE for me to say. This place is right down the street from my boyfriend's house, and after driving past it about 100 times, we decided to check it out for an early Valentine's Day dinner. Despite being a Tuesday night, the place was fairly crowded - lots of folks at the bar and high top tables, and the dining room was nearly full (though it emptied out around 8 or so). The atmosphere is fairly romantic, and thanks to recent renovations it still has that "new" feeling. The music playing throughout the place was a bit odd - seems like they might still be trying to strike the balance between bar and romantic restaurant. We started with the meatballs and little neck clams. Good reports on the meatballs, and though I found the clams to be pretty sandy, the broth was delicious. Our waiter actually left the bowl and brought out extra bread (which is delicious, baked with sea salt on the crust) for dipping in the broth. Thought it was a thoughtful touch, and I appreciated the fact that we weren't being rushed. For dinner I ordered the sea bass, and my boyfriend got the wood-fired steak. He claims it was delicious, though because the outside is wood charred it's difficult to tell exactly how thoroughly it's cooked - he said the medium he ordered was more on the side of medium-well. The sea bass was cooked almost perfectly, with a crisp outer shell. I was also a huge fan of the vegetable puree that it was served on. Finally, we split the nutella doughnuts for dessert. They were delicious, though I'd refrain from calling them amazing. Overall, the service was excellent. Our waiter was new, but we never would have known had another waitress not come to ask us how he was doing. My husband and I love trying new restaurants and was really looking forward to this one today. A good friend recommended it and it gets great reviews, and that's why I really have a hard time reconciling our experience with the reviews. I know that restaurants sometimes have off days and maybe that's what this was. I hope so anyway. To start, the service was pretty terrible - inattentive and inexperienced - and yet the staff were all very sweet. We went around 3pm and there were only a handful of people eating there. We were told to go outside and find a table but then no one came with menus, drinks or anything! I finally went back inside and the waitperson was very apologetic and said something about computer problems. It seemed to me that we were totally forgotten about. I don't really care about computer problems when all I want is a menu and a glass of water on a hot day. We finally placed our orders and then sat and waited for a very long time. Complimentary beignets were finally brought to the table. I love beignets but the one I got had raw dough in the center. I told the server not to get me another one but to please tell the chef. My husband said his was just okay and not nearly as good as others he has had at restaurants around the Philly area. I ordered the Pappardelle w/Wild Boar Ragu and my husband ordered the Rucola (Tuscan Thin) Pizza. My dish was so salty that I thought I couldn't eat another bite after the first one. I considered sending it back but since I had complained about the beignets I didn't want to come across as someone who just can't be pleased so I tried to eat it anyway. Every bite was worse than the one before. My husband could tell that I was struggling so he offered me a slice of his pizza. I declined and tried to take one more bite of the pasta but then I ran into "something" in the dish. I'm still not sure what it was - something with blue ink on it attached to one of the pasta noodles. At that point I gave up. I told the waitress that the dish was way too salty and the thing I found in it made it impossible to eat. She took the dish away but never came back. By that time my husband was nearly done eating and we didn't know what she was doing. We didn't know if she was getting me a new plate of food, getting a manager or what. It was very odd. Finally a different waitress noticed our confusion and stopped by the table so I just told her to tell the other person that we were ready for the check. We still waited another several minutes before the waitress came back, and when she did she said "there is no check, we took care of it." Another odd response, as if we should have known. In the end the restaurant did what was right but in a very inelegant, unprofessional way. I was prepared for them to deduct my dish but they actually deducted the entire meal. My take on the restaurant in general is that they're aiming to be gourmet but they aren't. The beignets were not very good and the pizza was just okay and the little jar of pepper oil and oregano is not going to make it gourmet. I can't explain away the saltiness of the ragu. It was literally inedible. It's likely that we will never come back here and for that I am sorry because I would have loved to have another Conshohocken restaurant to add to our list. The calamari is very good and has a yummy sauce with a nice crunch. The arancini is very crispy and has a creamy rice inside. The workers are very kind and helpful. Everyone was telling me that I had to try meatballs as my appetizer. They were ok, but I wasn't a huge fan. Three meatballs, covered in cheese with a cherry tomato. There was a sauce with them, but that was probably to add moisture, because they seemed sort of dry. I also think the bar had a few decent beers, but they were out of my first choice. I was really hesitant to try this place because of the mixed reviews, but I had a wonderful time at Bar Lucca. I went with three friends, which was the perfect amount of people to sample a lot of different plates. This is mostly a tapas restaurant, but some of the plates could have been enough for one person. I tried Chanterelle Bruschetta, Duck Breast, Fettucine Pasta and the Prosciutto Pizza. Just the pizza could have been a big meal for one person and had chili oil on the side, so you can control how spicy you wanted it to be. Then we finished the meal with Nutella Doughnuts and Poached Pear Soup. I split the plates, but I was completely stuffed afterwards. It felt like thanksgiving.
