I had been to Bar Siena before for drinks, but I came here for the first time to eat a few weeks ago. Honestly, I had pretty high expectations based on what I had heard from others about this place, but still I was incredibly impressed by the quality of the food and service. We tried the meatballs, the octopus, lasagna, and gnocci. All dishes were excellent. The real standpoint for me was the octopus, which was the most tenderly cooked octopus I have ever eaten in my life. The accompanying greens were decent, but the clear clear standpoint within the dish and the entire meal was the seafood. The meatballs were tender and juicy, and you could tell they were home-made (a positive!). The lasagna was hot, fresh, packed with juicy meat, and filling. The gnocci was tender but chewy at the same time, exactly as I like it. For dessert, you can order from the BomboBar menu, which honestly may save you some time given how long the lines are for dessert in the stand-alone ordering window. The only thing I'm not a huge fan of for this place is that it feels a bit crowded at times (in terms of space between tables), but either way, DEFINITELY worth stopping by Bar Siena! read more

Decided to come in person to Bar Siena instead of ordering through UberEats. We were greeted quickly and led to a booth upstairs! The downstairs was pretty lively for a Monday afternoon! Seems like a cool hang out place with an awesome vibe. The inside was beautiful and I absolutely loved the lights that surround the entire facility. It truly gives it a homey vibe. My boyfriend and I ordered the Short Rib Lasagna and the Fireball Pepperoni Pizza! The food came out pretty quick which was great! We enjoyed the lasagna and pizza, but would probably order something else on our next visit. These two dishes were large enough for both of us, we even had some food leftover to take home. I ordered a cocktail, #4. I liked it, but did not love it. My boyfriend ordered a beer (not sure which one), he enjoyed the light, crisp taste of it! Our waiter was great! This is a great place to dine with friends or family. My daughter and I met for a dinner date after work. It was wonderful. They have a great beer, wine and cocktail list. Love their selection of bourbons. Not huge, but a great mix of standard top shelf and some craft bourbons. I had the Koval neat, a bourbon made in Chicago. Perfect. We also had their version of an Old Fashion (no. 4) and their version of a Moscow Mule. Really smooth, very refreshing and drinkable. Service was five stars. Our waitress knew the menu and had great recommendations. We started with the Burrata which they make and it is fresh and creamy. Wonderful. We also had the Grilled Octopus which was very good. The flavors were wonderful and the full plate with chili and greens made it perfect. Highly recommend that. We also had their Salumi platter. Their version of a Charcuterie platter. It was good, but I have had a better variety at other locations. If you have a taste, go for it. We split their version of a Lasagna made with braised short ribs. Although they veered from the traditional, it was amazing flavor. It was also very heavy - and filling. It was really good. And please make sure you leave room for desert. The food was excellent. We got the gnocchi, focaccia, and the carne pizza. The gnocchi and the focaccia were fantastic. The pizza was good but I probably wouldn't order again. I liked that there were greens in both the focaccia and the gnocchi. It made everything taste everything more fresh. We got nice seats on the second floor. They keep the windows open which was nice because it was a warm night. The top floor is decorated with a bunch of sparkly lights which was nice for the aesthetic. Just when I thought a bad night couldn't get worse, we came here and it was worse!!!! We were given regular menus, then told that the late night menu was all that was available. ROLLS EYES. We settle for the fireball pizza well done, extra sauce. Pizza came out in about 5-10mins which was fine. It was also prepared correctly. Great Our issue here was service. Or lack there of. The waitress was curt once we FINALLY got a server. I sat a good 10-15mins waiting on assistance. Then we ordered drinks & she didnt bring straws my boyfriend requested a straw she says they dont have any straws anymore. So later in the evening she disappeared so I went to the bar to ordered drinks and guss what I see?? STRAWS!!!!! 2-3 straw boxes. So either she told a sorry ass blatant lie, or her lazy ass didnt know what she's talking about. Either way it pissed us off because she was already horrible!!! So the bill is $90. It could be called Top Chef alum row. Fabio Viviani is giving Randolph street diners a new place to dine and stalk for openings that are not extremely early or late at night. I am too embarrassed to give a listing of every item I have tried in the short time this place has been open, but I will say I have devoured 95% of them. I listed my favorite items in the "tip" section and took few pictures too. You will notice a few of the pictures were taken after we started to eat them. We could not help ourselves. Dine here and you will understand why. What I loved about this place: - the decor is amazing. - seating; everything from booths, a patio, bar top seating, traditional tables and bistro style tables. - the music rocks. There's a DJ! - the staff members are extremely personable and accommodating - portions are small so you can try lots of them. :-) - you can spike the Italian ice for $5! - reservations are available on Opentable. - the no. 5 cocktail! (I'm a lightweight) - and finally but most importantly, the food is very good. There's something for every palate. My least favorite things: - the fritto misto has too much batter. If you like lots of batter, this is the dish for you. Let's just say I've never had a bad meal or time at Bar Siena. I love coming here for brunch and always order the avocado toast with egg on top! Sooo good. Came here for brunch and was pleased by the service but overall underwhelmed by the food. I got the Classico and also tried the French toast. The French toast was by far the highlight, and I loved how the sour cherries balanced out the sweetness of the French toast. I also loved the thick cut bacon that came with the Classico. However, the rest of the Classico reminded me of a hotel breakfast. The potatoes were fairly flavorless and too crunchy. I couldn't taste the Parmesan at all. The eggs were ok but tasted like they were from a buffet. And the polenta toast was unexciting, not served with jam/butter, and was toasted too much for my taste. Overall, it was a decent brunch but not worth it for the price, especially when there are so many other brunch options in West Loop. read more

Out of all the outdoor dining we've done in the past few months, this is one of the more solid options. Their outdoor tent is very very warm. We didn't even have to wear coats. However keep in mind that they have a few outdoor seating areas and some are chillier than others. We got the French toast, burger, and a few beers and cocktails and all were very delicious. My only issue with Bar Siena is that they are very strict on their 90 minute time limit - which I understand. However, our waiter brought us a free beer that the bartender made by mistake with 15 minutes left in our table time and another employee came by and reminded us of our 90 minutes were expiring and brought us a clear, lid-less to go cup. Thankfully we didn't pay for the beer so I just threw it away but we could've gotten in some trouble if we were putting a beer in a clear cup and walking around the west loop with it. Came here for girls night with my best friends. Originally we wanted to do the chefs experience but decided not to. The restaurant and area we sat in was very very cute -- all the windows were open, the ambience was very intimate and cute casual, they had the light tree lit up upstairs, and the overall atmosphere was intimate and chill but still maintained an upscale vibe. For cocktails we got the No. 5, No. 8, and No. 10 (my favorite, basically their take on a Paloma). We went with the Tuna Carpaccio, Burrata, and Focaccia for our appetizers. I got the broiled salmon with veggies and ordered the Cesar broccoli salad on the side, my friends got the scallops and New York strip with Brussel sprouts. For dessert we got the deconstructed cannoli, the tiramisu, and ordered the Bomballini? I'm not sure of the name but we never got it so, oh well? Also we got the espresso martinis. To explain why I gave it three stars. While our waitress was great and checked in, followed up with us, and helped us with deciding what to get on the menu, the service from the kitchen was bad. We got our appetizers quickly and once we got them put in our dinner order. Since the station was right behind us, we saw our waitress enter the order. However, we waited 30-40 minutes and had to get our orders taken again because the order didn't go through. I'm not sure if that was glitch but that was understandable. Once we got our order, we were missing the broccoli salad and were more than half way done with dinner when our waitress checked on us and realized we didn't have it. It came super late and we got half off on it. When we ordered dessert, we each got something different to try, we got two out of three desserts. Again, a mess up in the kitchen and a long wait. Overall we paid $335 for three people with drinks, apps, dinner, and dessert. I give this place 3.5/5 stars because our waitress was great but the other service was bad. Came here mainly for the drinks since we had to pass 1.5 hrs before our time slot at Au Cheval. We tried to come the night we landed but it was way too crowded for our liking. AMBIANCE: We came during the day right after the lunch rush and got a seat right at the bar. I loved the fact that there was basically a huge tree in the middle of the place filled with lights. It was beautiful and definitely added to the vibe of the place. The bartender was super friendly and open to suggestions on what we should try. We ended up getting 4 drinks (sangria, and I can't quite remember all the numbered ones we got on the menu). Hello Bar Siena! I have walked past this restaurant about 100 times on my daily walk to work, and I finally had the chance to try! We came in as a group of 5 on a Saturday evening for a friend's birthday. The host was ALL business. Anyone who did not have a reservation was essentially disregarded (I'm really glad we had one- LOL!). Once we were checked in, we were asked to wait for the rest of our party, but there really wasn't anywhere to stand. This was a common issue for a lot of patrons, as we were smushed with other groups. No worries, though, it's the city! After our entire party arrived we probably waited another 5 minutes until seated upstairs! I was excited to see that we passed a DJ booth with vintage records, but it wasn't used during our visit. The waiter was kind and the food was good as expected (being how busy it was!). We split the focaccia as an appetizer and got the Carne pizza. This is a very nice establishment and while I would visit again, it would only be if someone else wanted to go. There just wasn't anything super-special about the dinner! read more

We came here for brunch on a Saturday. The area is very cute during such a time, with lots of restaurants with outdoor patios. Even the inside of bar Siena though is well decorated. I had the chopped salad and a coffee. The salad was very good and hearty. Lots of tasty ingredients. I also tried the prosciutto omelet, which was delicious and flavorful. The potatoes were also pretty good. The spinach omelet was yummy as well. We also ordered the verde cold pressed juice- a refreshing accompaniment. I really like Bar Siena overall for their creative takes on classic dishes. I've had their avocado toast, burrata, eggs benedict, and nothing has ever disappointed. The burrata seems to be prepared with a lot of care, from the creaminess of the burrata down to the tastiness of the bread. And paired with the jam that Bar Siena makes makes the burrata dish overall so delicious. I had the lobster eggs benedict and it did not disappoint at all, with there being a generous amount of lobster in the dish. The avocado toast is just a classic and Bar Siena was very generous with the avocado, which I appreciated. Overall, a great spot for brunch, and a super aesthetic place to eat overall with great food. read more

Classy atmosphere, good service, quick and tasty food, everything you could want in a restaurant. Plus the high top tables and the bar are first come first served, which can significantly cut down on a wait time. The Short Rib lasagna is to die for, delicious, first time I've had a white, roasted garlic bechamel sauce and it definitely worked, albeit a tad salty. It's a plate size, not the large tray that a lot of pictures made it look like, but it will still fill you up. The Lobster agnolotti (which means ravioli with lobster meat in it) was generous with the lobster, both inside and as part of the sauce. The No 5 Cocktail, made with Botanist Gin, has a floral aroma and taste to it, but can appear to be very strong. The lemon is a weak flavor, with the gin and rose as the primary flavors. There is a special take out window for their bomboloni deserts (donuts filled with a custard), but the vanilla bean edition was nothing special, would not order again. read more

Love the upstairs dining area. Currently they have the booths separated with plexiglass making it covid friendly. Only took one star off due to a mix up in our reservation. They ended up finding us seating after around 15 minutes. For appetizers highly recommend the burrata. It is complimented with an apricot jam (recommend getting the honey on the side). The meatballs were also delicious. For our meal we shared the short rib lasagna. It's extremely dense and full of flavor. It was enough for two people (this is in addition to the appetizers we ordered. For dessert, we got the cookie jar. Which reminds me of the dessert death by chocolate. Where do I begin. DO NOT EAT HERE! I never really write reviews as Im pretty easy going but this place was bad. First be careful, they clearly don't clean the water jugs, there was brown stuff all over ours. We asked to sit in the shade, there were a dozen open tables in the shade and they sat us right in the sun. We asked to move, they said they would move the umbrella. It did not work so we asked again if we could sit at one of the dozen tables in the shady. The waiter said he would try and fix it. It was better but just not great. The food was okay at best, certainly not worth the price. We watched a waiter spill out water right on the ground and it was really slippery. An umbrella fell on the person I was with and staff members just came and put another sand bag on it. No apology. Nothing. read more

My rule about restaurants: if I can make it myself, I shouldn't have to pay you to make it for me. This is not a reflection on my own cooking skills, but I genuinely felt like I could make most of the food we tried there. We had the Prosciutto Fig pizza, the Gnocchi, the Fava Bean & Black Truffle Risotto, and the Sweet Corn Ravioli. Everything was good, but I didn't feel like the modest portions were worth the higher prices. The exception was the Sweet Corn Ravioli, which was one of the best pasta dishes I've had in a long time. I most certainly couldn't make that at home, but now I have something to aspire to. The service was great, so no complaints there. Our food came out pretty quickly. The atmosphere and decor are great for a night out with friends. I probably wouldn't go again, but if you do find yourself here, you'll have a good time. I've been here a few times for dinner, after dinner drinks and brunch. I think brunch might be favorite meal here so I would suggest it for brunch. My friend and I popped in here after picking out bridesmaid dresses for her wedding. She ordered the breakfast pizza which looked incredible and I ordered the cheddar scrambled eggs. While waiting for our table in girls and the goat, we came here for couple drinks. Most places on this street looked like nice places and so was this one. This looks like a pet friendly place. It's nice and cozy inside too. Service was good even tho we were just sitting by the bars. I had glass of Rieslings from the menu, it was not bad. A little dry but was still sweet enough for me. I also tried an appetizer called bread and ricotta. It was mixed with roasted grape and sea salts. The bread were crunch enough while the roasted grape was just so good.
