Bar Sprezzatura's entrance you are let in by security which the door leads to a long winding hallway with neon signs that lead you to the elevator to get to the penthouse floor where the restaurant is. The restaurant's appearance is very classy and chic. We decided to also partake in their daily happy hour which is from 4pm-7pm everyday which includes select wine, beer, cocktails and a few bites. I got the house red wine for $8. We did the $60 three course dinner. I opted for the potato and leek soup, the Filetto in Crosta and pistachio cake. I loved how flavorful each dish was. The soup had a nice contrast in textures between the pomegranate seeds, crisp garlic croutons and shreds of crisp potato on top. My favorite part of the meal was the entree. The filetto in crosta was like a beef Wellington style. The filet was cooked to perfection. It was super tender and flavorful. I enjoyed the pairings of the broccolini and the mash which was delicious as well. The pistachio cake was baked in a mini Bundt cake style with a cream. There was a nice outer crust, but the inside was warm and soft. Our waitress was great and super nice. I would return again in the future. read more

What a beautiful unassuming rooftop bar/dining place located on top of the Kimpton Theta Hotel in Times Square. We stayed in the hotel and received free breakfast. We rode the elevator up to the 15th floor, then walked a flight of stairs to the 16th. It was cozy, felt bright and airy without it being actually outside. The decor made it feel like you were in Italy. The breakfast was a little buffet of some bagels/croissants/toasts, scrambled eggs, bacon, turkey sausage, different fruits and an assortment of cereal boxes. It wasn't anything special but the atmosphere made it great. The breakfast included certain drinks but for any lattes etc it was to order and an extra charge. I'm not sure if I would pay for the breakfast because the variety wasn't great and selection was small, but such a pretty space. There was a photo booth which I thought was a great touch but when I jumped in it with my kiddos, we found out it was $10 each. lol. Would have been amazing if it was free! read more

You have to access it by steps, so if you have a hard time walking at least a flight of stairs, it would be rough for you. It has a nice set up and the workers are all very attentive. We both got the steak skewers and that steak was made to perfection! So tender and soft, bursting with flavor and the truffle fries were probably some of the best I've ever tasted. read more

This is such a stunning rooftop. The decor was absolutely gorgeous. I think they did a really good job with the aesthetic of the place. I have mixed feelings about this rooftop. It doesn't feel like a rooftop but it does give a summery vibe. Our waiter was pleasant and attentive. The hh was a steal. $8 wine and really good appetizers too! What I didnt like about the place was their booking system glitch and their overall handling of the issue. My friend made a resy for 2. All good. She checked in before I did. They sat her by the table close to the bar. No issues so far. I came in 5 min later and they said they cant find my reservation. I showed my resy invite and they apparently couldn't find it in their system. The manager came in and they kept looking. Here's the thing there were several seats available and the chairs by the bar were all free. You could always give me those seats especially when it was a system glitch rather than working towards kicking me out. Anyway I was about to leave and my friend texted me shes seated. I came here on a Saturday night with a friend before a show! Service was a little slow as whenever we needed something, we had to actively flag down a server but the happy hour prices aren't bad! We ordered aperol spritzes (which didn't seem very strong) and 2 bites each of the spicy tuna cannoli (kinda odd with the powdered sugar on the top, my least favorite), the mozzarella tomato crostino (pretty refreshing with the cooked tomatoes), and the mushroom crostino (delicious and my favorite one!). For our food we both got the "little dinner" for $25 which came with a drink. The martinis were strong and the buns on the sandwiches seemed very biscuit-y but were really good! The sandwiches were slider sized but the burger was decent. I wish the potato wedges were a little crispier and a little saltier. The review is just for my experience trying to be a customer of this establishment. I stopped in at 5:30 on a Thursday. I went upstairs and the hostess informed me that they had no tables and the bar was closed due to an event. She said I could stand outside on the terrace and a server would take my drink order. I stood outside for about ten minutes but no server ever asked to take my order. I did wind up going up to the bar and looking at the menu. I was going to order something with the bartender, but I realized I didn't want to spend $22 on a drink when I couldn't even sit down to enjoy it. I left the restaurant shortly after arriving. I'd like to come back as the ambiance was very nice on a breezy day and the restaurant is nicely decorated. However, the experience with the service makes me think twice. read more

I was staying at the Kimpton hotel and wanted some coffee. I was told that they served it at the bar so went up to it. It was confusing as when you got off the elevator, you had to find the steps to get up to the restaurant. I didnʻt see any accessible way to get there without having to go up steps. Itʻs a pleasant environment with some outdoor seating and a nice view of the city. I was told they only had specialty coffee drinks so I ordered a mocha and decided to have the pistachio cake (normally a dessert). The "mocha" didnʻt taste anything like a mocha and the waitress brought me another cup as she said she mistakenly made hot chocolate and I could have it. It didnʻt taste like hot chocolate either.. I took a few sips but left it. I found it hard to find my way to the elevator but someone helped me find the stairs down to the elevator Based on the lack of accessibility for someone physically challenged and the coffee drinks, Iʻd give it a much lower score but feel that would not be totally fair. If you canʻt do stairs, avoid it. I wouldnʻt go back for coffee of any kind. read more

This place is just ok if you are staying at the hotel but definitely doesn't warrant a special visit. Food was fine, although nothing memorable, but portions are child sized . The sandwich was literally one slider. What really bothered me was the hours posted on weeknights are until 10, which is already super early for a hotel bar in NYC. They actually did a last call when I walked in at 9:20 and were refusing service to people who came in at 9:30 even though it was still pretty busy. We got to soak up one of the last warm evenings of the season, and even though it's nestled in the middle of busy NYC buildings, the terrace felt like a peaceful escape--giving off vibrant coastal Italy vibes. We were charged $22/glass because we did not order the right one! while I guess we could have been more careful, I really think the waiter should have pointed it out! my opinion is that it was done deliberarely to get us to spend more. Bar Sprezzatura is a new hidden gem, literally you have to go a back door and knock to get in, and walk through winding path, with hilarious Italian music guiding you towards an elevator that brings you up to wait feels like a cafe or wine bar straight off the Amalfi coast. The drinks were very good, I had a rose Prosecco shrub spritzer, that made me wish I was on a warm coast. The views were spectacular, and the staff on a Wednesday night were very accommodating. I highly recommend a reservation, that being said you would probably have been sat as a walk in. The crostini was incredible and the meat and cheese board was lovely, very good quality olive oil. It was fun for casual business drinks, but would also make a great stop in an epic girls night or a romantic date. Even when our counterparts were running a tad late they were more than happy to seat us and get us started with apps, and we did not feel rushed at all. With maybe 10 guests in the restaurant, there were at least 10 workers standing around and somehow my espresso martini took 20 minutes (I ended up telling them I didn't need the foam since apparently that was what was taking so long). They comp'd it, but only after I asked three times for it. I also had to ask for water because no one gave me any. Took the food to go back to my room and it was cold and I wasn't given cutlery. We entered via the W48th St. entrance, and it was dark (kinda creepy) and reminded us of a garbage disposal area. I booked a reservation for its rooftop attraction, but the weather was tentative all week, and rain was scheduled for our evening. We were seated in a corner indoors, which wasn't very comfortable: two round tables against a banquet bench. It was our first time and the server's second day. We ordered a tower filled with a few appetizers. A tower, it was NOT; it was more like a lazy Susan (low and unimpressive). As far as we were concerned, it was false advertising. One of the appetizers was a tuna cannoli, which was not very good. It sounded creative but failed our taste buds. The cannoli shell should be solely reserved for dessert. We also ordered bread, which was two breadsticks, and we were forced to order two more since we were a party of five. We were told the meatballs would come in a small bowl, but the bowl was the size of a ramekin. I don't want to bash this establishment any further. It tried, but an Italian would be horrified if one ever came here. Thank goodness the drinks were proper libations and the service of the remaining staff was excellent. They were kind enough to try to make it special by putting a candle on the pistachio cake. read more

You'll get to the elevator entry you walk into a restaurant that has the Casablanca feel. this is a new and up-and-coming restaurant so experience it while you can. Beautiful rooftop bar overlooking the city landscape. The twinkling lights made it magical. Nice break from the usual hustle and bustle of NYC. This was our pre show destination for appetizers and drinks. We only had their 'Game Day' special for appetizers and didn't have anything else on the menu. Hence the 4 stars for food. I'm sure their Italian food is fantastic! Service was a bit slow but manager apologized and served us complimentary desserts for our wait time. My roommate made a reservation over the phone for her birthday--16 people this past Sunday--and the entire experience was an absolute disaster. First red flag: upon arrival, staff downstairs asked if we were there for "the event," which immediately caused confusion. We got upstairs to find the place completely empty, and the manager (whose name I unfortunately didn't catch) seemed utterly indifferent to the mess they had created. My roommate had guests flying in from out of state for this so-called brunch, and instead of addressing the situation with urgency, the managers huddled about five feet away, whispering among themselves like it was some mystery they couldn't crack. One even had the nerve to claim my roommate "didn't know" her own reservation details--despite her clearly providing her full name, party size, and time. It was obvious that whoever took the reservation either failed to record it properly or outright canceled it to make room for a private event--without so much as a courtesy call. One of the female managers eventually came over with a weak apology and claimed she had secured us a table at another nearby rooftop. That turned out to be a blatant lie, as the place she sent us to wasn't even open yet (by two full hours). As someone who works in this industry, I can confidently say this was one of the most classless, tone-deaf, and unprofessional experiences I've witnessed. The complete lack of empathy and accountability was appalling. I would never recommend this establishment to anyone. Whoever owns this place seriously needs to take a long, hard look at their management team because they are an incompetent mess. read more

The entrance was bizzare from the street. Down a twisty, creepy dark hallway to an elevator that you take to the penthouse. Happy hour prices for drinks were good. I was one of 4 tables outside and only half the tables were full inside. Threat of rain came and me and one other table asked to move inside. Other table was brought in promptly. The host told me to wait a couple of minutes for a seat at the bar (there were lots of empty 2-tops). About 8 minutes went by and I'm the only one outside and it starts to rain. So made two trips inside with my own drink and then the two small apps I had. I put it all on the corner of the bar and stared at the host from across the room. Apparently, he forgot about me. So he makes eye contact and came over put me at a seat at the bar. Finally. Thanks. Bartender right in front of me didn't acknowledge me and the one down the bar refilled my drink. The place was cute but the service was definitely sub par, as others have noted. Also, the place filled up around me with 20-somethings. Definitely a young crowd. The bouncer at the entrance door should have been a clue. Oh well, it was an affordable happy hour in NYC and the drinks were good so at least there's that! read more
