All they sell here is delicious barbacoa!
    Roy R.

My buddy and I were in the mood for some barbacoa on a Sunday morning and while driving around his new neighborhood , we happened to find this little gem. Since it actually had barbacoa in the title, we figured we should at least check it out. To our delight, it turned out that they ONLY sell barbacoa and it was exactly how I was hoping they would. They sold it by weight. I was very happy about that, because I prefer to be able to make my own tacos. They sell it by Kilo with the lbs equivalent next to it. They do also happen to serve orders of tacos and lonches (sandwiches), but we were interested in getting it by weight. The barbacoa comes with pico de gallo, a mix of onions and cilantro, a red and green sauce, and with a small bowl of limes. I later noticed that their flier says you also get guacamole, but we did not happen to get any, and to tell you the truth, I think it would be too rich to add that to it. The barcacoa is very tasty. It is moist, but not overly greasy with the huge clumps of fat that Ive seen at other locations. They heat it up on a flat grill, so I am sure that helps drain some of the fat from it. You also get a hot, heaping pile of corn tortillas to start putting your own tacos to your liking. We saw them pulling the corn tortillas out of a plastic bag and getting heated up on the grill, but I won't judge too harshly on that since there are plenty of tortilla factories in the area and I am sure they get them fresh. They definitely tasted very fresh. The place is not huge, but it does have tables that can easily be put together by the back wall to accommodate large groups. We actually saw a large family doing just that and it makes sense if you are going to order a whole kilo of barbacoa! That's a whole lot of meat! I happened to notice that their hours end early. 7am-4pm on weekdays and 7am-3pm on weekends. So come early if you want to partake in their great barbacoa. 1Kg/2.2lbs - $25 3/4Kg/1.7lbs - $19 1/2Kg/ 1.1lbs - $12.50 1/4Kg/ 0.6lbs - $6.50

OMG. Taco perfection right here. I'm really really sad that I cannot eat these tacos every day, because I WOULD. On my last day in El Paso, I had to sample some authentic tacos. And while barbacoa isn't my favorite meat (I prefer pastor) this place was open at 7am and had good reviews on Yelp. So I woke before anyone else and came in for a taco breakfast. They ONLY serve barbacoa, so if you really just don't like that meat, you are out of luck and should go elsewhere. But it was just amazing. I ordered the tacos, and you get 4 of them for $6. They are filled with meat and come with great sides and sauces. I was in heaven and told my siblings they were nuts for not partaking in taco breakfast with me. I was too full to eat the last one and cried a little as I wrapped it up and threw it away :(. The sauces were spicy and perfect, and the meat was moist but not greasy. What a fabulous place to get some awesome barbacoa!! Can you please open a location in Nashville?!!

    Look for this place!

Really good Barbacoa! I'm a little surprised that in a city like El Paso doesn't have many Barbacoa houses. Don't get me wrong, Barbacoa is not necessarily hard to come by, but in actual Mexico Barbacoa is often sold at establishments dedicated solely to Barbacoa (and related foods like colitas de pavo), a Barbacoa house, if you will (sadly not a house built entirely out of tasty, tasty Barbacoa). Anyway, you don't find many of these places in El Paso, and Los Cuatro Vientos is just that kind of place. They only sell Barbacoa here, whether by the lb. or tacos & sandwiches. I like their no-frills menu, and the Barbacoa is really good! The Barbacoa is moist, but not overly greasy, just squeeze some lime, put some salsa and add some onions, and boom, you got yourself an excellent taco. WARNING: Los Cuatro Vientos closes at 4pm on weekdays and 3pm on weekends, so plan accordingly.

    1/2 kg...really good

Wouldn't say it was the best barbacoa, but it was good. Fast service! Was in and out in 5 mins!

While the food was never the primary…read morereason I returned, the excellent margaritas and outstanding service kept me coming back for nearly two decades. Unfortunately, that loyalty came to an end after a recent experience that was both disappointing and unacceptable. My family and I chose this restaurant to celebrate a birthday. Every guest paid separately, and there were no issues during the evening itself. However, as the event concluded, multiple attendees, including family members and in-laws, overheard servers making derogatory comments about our party. Among the remarks were that we were "ungrateful," "cheap," and "broke," along with other inappropriate comments that no customer should ever have to hear. I brought the matter to the attention of ownership, hoping for a meaningful resolution. While I was told the employees had been reprimanded, the proposed remedy was a $25 gift card. After nearly 18 years of patronage, the response felt dismissive and only added insult to injury. What disappoints me most is not simply the behavior of the staff, but the lack of accountability and concern shown afterward. This was a place I once considered a reliable and welcoming destination for family gatherings and celebrations. Sadly, that trust has been lost. As a result, I will no longer be returning or recommending this establishment to friends, family, or colleagues. Respect for customers should be a fundamental part of any hospitality business, and in this case, that standard was not met.

The food arrived within about 10 minutes for our group of six, which was impressive. The complimentary fried tortillas were very good, and the salsa was enjoyable as well. I ordered al pastor tacos. The flavor was good, but the meat was very dry. I liked the portion size, especially the amount of meat, but it would have been excellent if it were not so dry.

About 8 large chile toreados, grilled onions.and plenty of corn tortillas. The charro beans were mostly bean soup. I actually poured some of the bean soup into a bowl so we could serve ourselves to avoid some spilling. The baked potatoes were generously bathed in butter. They did not provide any other toppings for the potatoes. Personally I think some sour cream, or Mexican crema de la Mesa, some chives, some other toppings would have been nice. The queso fundido was good but also a disappointment. It was missing the chorizo that I had paid extra for. The meat was very good. Well done but not dry or hard to chew. I was pleased to see that the chicken was not cooked into dryness. We did come across a couple of meat grisel or what in Spanish is called "nervio". This place has a small sign that states that if you pay with a credit card a 3% service charge will be added to your bill. I am pretty good with math and I pointed out to the cashier that they actually charge 4%. He did make a correction on my bill. Be ware of your bill. Otherwise they do give you plenty of food. It reminds me of a Mexican parrillada/ grilled cook out. The food here was very good, good tasting, and in spite of the small glitches worth it. We will be returning again.

Looking back, El Cometa is what started my taco obsession. Their tacos al pastor con queso are so good. The marinated pork is perfectly seasoned, a little greasy in the best way, and topped with melted cheese. One thing I love is their salsa bar. I always grab the red salsa, green salsa, and guacamole. I pile all three on my tacos, and every bite is amazing. Their tacos remind me of my favorite tacos at the resort my family visited every summer in Cancún. Even though it has been years since I have been there, El Cometa brings those memories back with every bite. The staff is incredible. Last summer, the hostess recognized me right away and seated me immediately. She even remembered my order. I order the exact same thing every visit: tacos and two cans of Sprite. The fact that she has been there since I first started coming in 2019 makes every visit feel like coming home. From 2019 until I moved away in 2022, I went there almost every week. To eat here, everyone lines up at the cashier to place an order, but somehow I always felt like royalty. The staff knew me, and every visit felt welcoming. El Cometa never disappoints. The food is outstanding, the service is excellent, and every visit reminds me why I fell in love with tacos in the first place.
