Her hands seemed to have a rhythm and memory of their own, effortlessly transforming simple dough into beautifully rolled flour tortillas. It's the kind of craftsmanship that's becoming increasingly rare and deserves genuine appreciation. Unfortunately, the finished product didn't quite live up to the performance. While the tortillas were fresh, they lacked the depth of flavor I was hoping for. They seemed light on either salt or fat, perhaps intentionally for a healthier approach, but the result was a tortilla that tasted muted. There was also a slight grittiness to the texture. I'm used to flour tortillas with a rich, savory flavor that are satisfying enough to enjoy on their own. We ordered several burritos, and while they were certainly good, they never crossed into memorable. Like the tortillas themselves, the fillings could have benefited from a bit more richness and seasoning to create a more satisfying bite. One small disappointment was the beverage selection. I would have appreciated the option of ordering a smaller drink. My jamaica was refreshing but considerably sweeter than I prefer. Then again, perhaps the old saying is true--everything really is bigger in Texas. First time eating from Rita's Burritos and we won't be coming back. We went through the drive thru for a quick bite at lunch. Simple order of one carne asada and one chili relleno burrito. My carne asada had little flavor, was overcooked, and was just meat inside a tortilla with no onion, cilantro, or salsa. The worst part was they gave us a different burrito from the chili relleno we ordered. Ok, this is simple enough mistake in a busy drive thru so my girlfriend walked in to correct the order. The people inside were rude and said "we were lucky to get another one (burrito)". They made the mistake and we are LUCKY to get it corrected. With so many good Mexican food options in El Paso just pass on Rita's Burritos and go elsewhere. read more

This is a great spot for fresh authentic Mexican Burritos. Their Chile Relleno is by far the best in town. Their Barbacoa virtually melts in your mouth. The service is friendly but you will have to arm yourself with some patience as everything is done a la minute. So freshly made and made to order. Many locals come here every day as they offer a great value. They also offer aqua Fresca including Horchata. The ambiance is low key as they have an open kitchen with two counters where orders can be placed. The restaurant is very clean. This is definitely a great local gem for Burritos read more

After 4+ years, this is still one of my go-tos for great burritos. The tortillas are amazing, and the various burritos are made fairly consistently (occasionally the ratios are a little off, but mostly they produce them consistently.) Chile relleno burrito with side of salsa verde remains my favorite, although they run out of those around/before noon most days. The carne asada, add queso and pico, is my second choice. (And I think the picadillo is excellent if you like potatoes more than I do.) I definitely prefer the salsa verde to the salsa roja. Both are spicy but I think the green has more depth of flavor. Service is always efficient and polite. It's mostly a drive-thru with a small outside seating area. read more

I was getting my oil and inspection at Master Lube, and he said I can't go wrong with Rita's. Warm friendly people greeted me and made me feel at home. Decided on a picadillo a la Mexicano, with extra onion peppers and tomate. Outstanding! I will be a regular when in the neighborhood. read more

Easily my favorite burrito spot I've found in El Paso. Easy drive thru, crazy good tortillas, and actually flavorful meat. I will definitely be coming back! I ordered 3 styles of burritos: - Red Chile Burrito - Chile Verde - Barbacoa (the best) I've heard a lot about the red Chile Burrito but in a all honesty I thought it was the weakest one. The red Chile was not super flavorful and had a bit of a strange taste to it. The Barbacoa Burrito with the green salsa was incredible. Probably the best I've had in El Paso. One issue I had with all of them was that the meats were a little dry. The salsa made up for it but they could definitely use some more juices in the meat. Overall: Decently priced, flavorful, fresh tortillas, with ample meat and weight to each burrito. I loved it and will come back soon! read more

The perfect little burritos with fresh tortillas. We were looking for something exactly like this, saw it on Yelp and the outcome was delicious! My family and I shared all different kinds of burritos so we could try them all. Here's our list, first being best: 1. Chile relleno 2. Red chile brisket 3. Picadillo 4. Egg and chorizo (add cheese) 5. Bean and cheese 6. Bacon and egg (add cheese) All of them were extremely good so it's really just your preference. We got the rajas/hatch chile and it wasn't anything special but that can always determine on the chile too. Our favorite part was the fresh tortillas. Also, it's a drive through! Ah the smoky sweetness of the Chipotle Pullled Pork. Wow! This is the best burrito in El Paso. It is not super spicy this morning but they have prepared salsas on the side if needed. I am a bit of a Guero so it is just right. Also had a red chile brisket which is right size, right taste. Just wonderful burritos that I am willing to drive to the west side for. Going to give them 5 stars - 4 on the burritos and 1 on the great customer service. I love their breakfast burritos and their Chile verde burrito! The red Chile brisket also tastes great but the meat was chewy last time. Wish they'd let it slow cook another hour or so for a softer bite, but maybe that's how the locals like it. 1st time at Rita's burritos and probably not the last. The prices are fair and comparable to other places, I'm just basing it off barbacoa: 9 cents more than Valley Super Market but 10 cents LESS than Cazares. It's literally nickels and dimes but quality and ease is much more of a difference and makes it a STEAL of a deal. It looks like a chain since it's well branded and they have a website, but I believe they are locally owned. It's because of this chain-like appearance that made me hesitate to try it since hole in the walls are usually superior in cost and taste. I'm happy to say that my fear is misplaced. It's delicious and affordable! The stand out is the handmade tortillas (paper thin and pliable) it makes a huge difference in taste. The carne asada was tender and not gristly, the chipotle pulled pork was like bbq with a kick: sweet and spicy! The best part was that I went during the heat of the day and drive thru was soooo convenient and service was very nice. One caveat was that the sauces are really small and you have to ask for more, I didn't know and kinda regret not having more sauce since the carne asada was very plain (they might have boiled the meat and then seared on the grill...that's what it tasted like). You also have to ask for cilantro, onions and tomatoes, but they will add it to the burrito for you or put it on the side. All in all, this is a great alternative for a quick and inexpensive meal that's just as convenient as the fast food joints. I had seen this place advertised on local television for some time and had been dying to try it. I found myself having to run an errand on the west side of town, down by upper valley where it is located. I arrived right at opening (drive-thru only) and was happy to order two RCB (red Chile brisket) burritos for me and my wife. Unfortunately, these burritos were so spicy hot, the burrito was hard to enjoy and the flavor was lost in the heat. I didn't know if I was eating a burrito or swallowing the sun. After some time, I managed to finish the burrito but was still hungry. I decided to go back to give it a second opinion on a different burrito. I opted for the safer carne asada but was disappointed. Not much on flavor and a bit dry. Two burritos on two different ends of the spectrum. Burritos were a bit much at about $3.50 each. Might try it again hoping it was only a fluke. Wow! A burrito that's a meal and packed with flavor and so much goodness. The chile relleno with bean on a fresh homemade flour tortilla is fabulous on its own but with their hot sauces it is next level. The barbacoa is a generous amount of meat with cilantro and lime with fresh onion and tomato and is also just great all by itself. I hate writing subpar reviews, especially for small local business that I really want to love and support.... But. I've been to Rita's once before. It was great! I had a carne asada burrito that I added beans, cheese, and onions to. It was fantastic, juicy, and flavorful. I recommended Rita's to my family and friends. I dreamed of Rita's burritos. I went to Rita's again today. I've been craving it for weeks and was SO excited to get a carne asada burrito and try the RCB. I went through the drive thru and was planning to take it home to eat, like I did last time. Service was quick and friendly, I placed my bag on my seat (rookie mistake, I know) and went on my way. I took out the carne asada burrito on my way home to eat half of it and it wasn't the same as I remembered. Great tortilla, yes, but the meat was really dry and salty. I took out the RCB to try a bite and I immediately had juice from the burrito leak out of the foil and onto my legs and my shirt. I went to grab the bag to put the burrito back in it to eat at home and the saw the salsa sitting on the seat. Uh oh. I looked at the bag and it had completely soaked through the paper. I immediately moved it to the floor, where the bag busted open. There was juice from the burrito all over my seat. When I got home, I went to open the RCB and found the tortilla soggy on both ends. I tried cutting off the soggy pieces, but the juice from the burrito had already gotten into the rest of the tortilla, which made it really soft. I wanted to love it, and I tried to eat it anyway, but it ended up going in the trash The flavor was good, though it was really spicy. All in all, I couldn't get past the sogginess. It was sad. I'm not sure if this was just a one-off where someone didn't drain the meat properly before moving it to the tortilla, but I was surely disappointed. I was also super sad about the carne asada because the first time I ate it, it left me craving and dreaming of Rita's often. I'm sure the paper bags are made from recycled paper and are a way of being more sustainable, and I applaud that effort. But I really, really wish I had had a plastic bag in this instance. I'd suggest draining the meat more and putting the burritos with more juice in them in a small plastic bag inside the paper sack. read more

I used to work door to door sales, and this was our hotspot. The staff are very sweet, and the food is GREAT! I wish I had gotten a picture, but loved it, and so do my coworkers. And best of all, very cheap, despite being great quality! Good place to eat breakfast and lunch. The parking is quite tight, so I try to go beside the building, on the right when you pull in. I'm a big fan supporting small business venue, this establishment doesn't impress me. I asked for a cup of ice water (for my pets), the cashier said they only have bottled water (hmmm.... you don't have a running water in the kitchen to provide that??) With the summer heat in El Paso, I'm sure there are many patrons appreciating a big bucket of ice water while dining. A friend invited me to join her at her new favorite burrito spot and they knocked my socks off! I easily would've passed by this place a hundred times and never stopped in without her recommendation. It's a small shop with limited seating inside and some shaded outdoor. They do need some more barstools for the counters outside, but that's just a minor complaint. The homemade tortillas are AMAZEBALLS!! They make them fresh UPON ORDER so your food may take a little longer than the average place, but trust and believe it's well worth the wait! The service is also excellent, both owners were there working and gave heartfelt personalized service. You can feel their passion for cooking and hospitality. The menu offers a nice variety of both breakfast and lunch/dinner choices, all reasonably priced. I appreciate that they offer both spicy and non spicy options. I couldn't decide between the Barbacoa and the Carne Asada, so I got both and ate half of each. Both were absolutely delicious, although I would give a slight edge to the Carne Asada, but you really can't go wrong with either. I also tried their refried beans con queso which were solid. They sell bottled sodas and water. I'm hoping they eventually acquire a fountain machine. All in all, this is a MUST EAT place in El Paso and I'll be a frequent visitor!! read more

Went to try this place out because I saw the owner post about it on a foodie group on social media and I wasn't disappointed. Initially this was supposed to be a drive thru stop for me but a crying hungry newborn, dictated I dine-in. I was promptly greeted by employees. Everyone is super friendly and they check on you periodically you to see if you need anything. I ordered a carne asada and a barbacoa burrito. The carne asada was tender and juicy and had a good flavor; not over seasoned. The barbacoa burrito was definitely my favorite. I don't really like barbacoa and only eat it when I crave it and I am so glad I ordered it here. Not too greasy and delicious. It came with some onion and cilantro inside. THE HIGHLIGHT: Those bomb handmade tortillas!! There is literally someone hand making them and rolling them in the restaurant (reminds me of my mom with her palote in the kitchen). I was tempted to ask if I could buy a dozen to take home. Downsides: No beans in my burritos. Maybe it's an El Paso thing to assume beans will be in there. Customer service was awesome as they make you feel like family that stopped in for a meal. I had the Chile Verde burrito and the pork was soooo tender and flavorful. Im pretty picky when it comes to burritos. That said, I try to give the burrito a fair shake before nixing the place altogether. We ordered 3 different burritos to try out. The carne asada was alright. It tasted like reheated steak and therefore drier than I would have liked. The mole was pretty good. Tasted like a mole from grandma's house. The chicharron was in chile verde and was very fresh. Not fake or store bought chicharron. The smell alone announced it was very fresh but frankly off putting (smell wise). They ask if you want salsa and we tried the red. It was very watery but tasty. The tortillas were handmade before our eyes. That was probably the best thing but a good tortilla cant carry a burrito alone. The fillings have to be on point. I also got a corn in a cup and it tasted like canned corn. I didnt like it. I've had about 80% of their menu and everything has been delicious....my favorites are the RCB(Red Chile Brisket) and the Chile Verde. My kids love the carne asada quesadilla and the bean and cheese. If you're a tortilla snob...you'll appreciate Rita's. They make them fresh and their recipe is spot on. Last but not least...the staff is very friendly and seem happy to be there.
