Dr Young and all the staff that work here are fantastic! I can confidently say this is the best dentist practice I have been to. Everyone on the team is very friendly and accommodating. Dr. Young not only cares about the patient's health but she genuinely encourages people to have the best teeth they can. She will sit down with you to go over x-rays, molds, pictures, or even hand you a mirror so that you can see and understand the health of your teeth. She will coach you through any procedures they will be doing, even simple cleanings or fillings. I have been going to Dr Young for 25 years. Her staff are all unfailingly friendly and professional and very knowledgeable. I have gotten great natural dental care tips from them that I use all the time. Dr Young herself is an artist and master of her science/craft. I had care there once after my dentist no longer takes my insurance. The staff and covering doctor (never met Dr. Young) are friendly and educational. But it took over 2 hours for an initial cleaning visit. This does not include a prefilled intake form that I did from home with pages of legal jargon that made me a little uneasy. What turned me off more after all this is that they did everything they could to bill my insurance for the maximal service. They charged me for actual photos, on top of X-rays of my teeth. Photos that were not needed and not covered by insurance as I later learned from my brother in law who is a dentist in another state. Additionally they recommended special mouth wash that they of course sold at the office for a premium. I was also told to come back in 4 months for additional out of pocket cleaning. It is possible that I may need more cleaning, but all the other bills?! I decided never to go back and stick with my former dentist. I rather pay out of pocket for the honest and exceptional service of my prior dentist in PB than be treated like a walking pocketbook. read more

UPDATE: My original review was out of line, due to my misunderstanding, I do love this clinic but was shocked to see a random bill a year later.... Spoke to Ellen on the phone, she was kind enough to reassure me that the misunderstanding is an insurance issue. I was told that I was eligible the date of my exam, but the insurance didn't pay, so shes looking into it. I'm hopeful for a miracle. _____________________ I'm bummed because I thought I could trust them. I even switched my dental insurance with the new company im working with to PPO, just so I can continue to go back to them. But then they send me this bill a year later asking for $90+ via email for the first time. I've received ZERO voicemails, ZERO emails regarding the original bill for $1.44. Barbara was great, but the receptionist was rude. I walked into the clinic and the receptionist kicked me out because I did not have a mask. This was okay until I saw another patient walked in and she offered to give him the mask. I was not sure why she offered a mask to him but not me. Also, after the visit I wanted to ask her some questions before I leave. I was on anesthesia but I still could speak okay (my boyfriend was able to understand me clearly when I was still on anesthesia). So I tried to ask the receptionist some questions but she gave an attitude. She didn't even try to listen to my words. She sent me away quickly like she did not want me to stay in the clinic. I would very strongly recommend anyone to avoid this place. In fact if I had time, and there was any kind of ethical comittee or chamber of commerce, I would file a complaint. They don't see healthy teeth, receding gum or cavities in your mouth but they see dollar signs. It's as if your mechanic tells you that everything is wrong with your car - when it's not - and replaces everything and hits you with enormous bills. I have been Dr Young's patient for 3 years when I was living in San Diego. She has done multiple crowns for me over that period. After moving out from San Diego I lived in both Seattle and Orange County and had to have a new dentist. Both of my new dentists complimented her work. My Irvin dentist even told me that if I were you I would drive back to San Diego and continue seeing her.
