I had a nail in my tire and came to Barber Honda for a replacement tire. I gave the Express Service dept. my Honda Easy Care warranty that covers tire issues. An hour later I was told the warranty company denied my claim due to shallow tread and I needed 4 new tires. I insisted on seeing the tread measurement and it was not below the requirements on my warranty. I called the warranty company (while standing at the service counter) and explained my situation - they told me nobody from Barber Honda had contacted them. The clerk then told me the other girl (who was now at lunch) was responsible. So we began the entire process again while numerous other customers were impatiently waiting outside in the 95 degree sun. The warranty was accepted...I guess it's a good idea to stand there and watch to make sure there are no problems, or to ensure people do what they say, or just do their job. What a disappointing experience. We've been to Barber Honda in the past and have had no real complaints (except that they don't know how to deal with rust on cars from out of the area), but this time... I called to get an appointment because we wanted them to check out a few things. I was put on hold and then eventually just transferred to voice mail without a word. I hung up and called back and was put directly through to voice mail... so I left a message. No one called me back that day, or the next. I called again and finally got through, got an appointment (should I have to work this hard to give them my money?!) and later in the week took the car in. It was crazy busy, but the guys in the service department are always very nice. I will also say this--their shuttle service is very good; I love the gentleman who takes people to and fro! I got a call back much later in the day about their diagnosis. He offered to itemize it for me and call back when it was ready (a little odd since he told me that the mechanic had gone above and beyond and had ALL the information right there for me). Regardless, I thanked him and said we'd like that. 24 hours later we still had not heard back from them; we finally just went in to pick up the car. There was no itemization. We will not be going back, which makes me sad because it used to be different! :-( read more

Please read the last paragraph if you don't want the whole story. We have been avoiding buying a Honda because we had a Honda Odyssey 10 years ago and we remember the terrible service from this dealership. In October 2016, we cancelled our Honda Pilot Elite order and bought a lesser Toyota product because of our concerns about service for the all-new Pilot. However, I recently got a Honda Clarity EV from another dealership because my daughter needed a car. Within 2 months my daughter broke the lower plastic housing on the side mirror. I took the car in and showed a skinny parts guy. I had researched on fixing it myself as well but I did not want to void any warranties. I knew the part cost and how to fix it. The part was $70 and I asked the service advisor Paige Brock to look at it and give me an estimate on labor she said it was $135. She also tried to get me to order the whole $400+ assembly. The parts person told me I can just tell the service department to order it. I went home to get my daughter to agree to pay for it. I called Paige and told her to order the $70 part and I asked her to make sure to communicate with the skinny parts guy so the wrong part isn't ordered. A few days later, I came in to get the mirror fixed after they told me the part arrived. I took time off from work for this. Inexplicably, I now have Daniel as a service advisor. He told me an hour to fix the part, so I waited. After 45 minutes, Daniel came and told me they ordered the wrong part and I have to order the $400+ assembly. I told him no and took him to the parts guy to show him on the diagram. He said he'll call me to come in again when they get the right part. With waiting and paperwork, I spent an hour at the dealership for nothing. A week goes by and I have heard nothing from the dealership. I called and they said they have not order my part because now I have to come in and pay in advance. So I dropped by after work and paid for the part to be ordered. A few days goes by and I came in again (taking more time off of work) because they finally got the right part. Paige is now my advisor again. She looked at the car and told me that the dealership cannot service it. I was puzzled but she insisted that the dealership would be fined by Honda for $35,000 and no one there is qualified to work on the car. I told her that's not what Honda Corp. told me when I got the car. I told her I would not have gotten a car that cannot be serviced. She kept insisting and went and got a letter from Honda that said they can't work on my car. Since I can read, I pointed out to her the letter is applicable to only the hydrogen fueled Clarity FCV, not the Clarity EV I had. We don't have any Clarity FCVs in Bakersfield because there is no hydrogen fuelling station. She called her manager to confirm any way. This took about 45 minutes. Then she took the car and told me it will be about 90 minutes more. I walked over to another dealership to buy parts for my other car and waited there because they had a nicer lounge. About 2 hours passed and I get a phone call from Paige. I was expecting the car to be done. She told me I had to come back because she had to show me something. She said it will cost double or triple to fix the mirror because it is more complicated than expected when they disassembled the mirror. I smelled a scam. So I went back to Barber Honda and Paige showed me a diagram of the mirror. I have already seen it multiple times on the internet because of my research. She insisted that it will cost more than $270 in labor, not $135 as quoted before. So I asked if she can do it for $135, she said no. So I told her to put back all the old parts and refund my part money. Paige told me she was going to charge me for the labor anyway because they already took the mirror apart. I told her they did not fix anything and I would not pay. She said she'll speak with the technician to see if they can fix it for the original price and let me know so please wait some more. 45 minutes goes by, I went to Paige and asked what is going on with my car. She said they will fix it for the original quoted price. I waited another hour for the car to finally be done. In short to replace a plastic housing on a side mirror, I came in to the dealership 4 times, spent $205 and about 6 hours waiting around. I truly felt that this dealership was unprofessional and was attempting to scam me. If they were not trying to scam me then they were most incompetent and the service department needs new management. On top of this, we have had at least 3 bad experiences of warranty fixes with our previous Odyssey that were never done correctly until the warranty ran out. We love Hondas and have never been disappointed by the products, but having own 5 different car brands in my lifetime, this is by far the worst service I have had. I am glad that my Honda EV does not need a lot of service. read more

My first experience with Barber Honda was not too good, however, after complaining with Honda headquarters, they took care of my brand new Honda vehicle issue to my satisfaction. Since then, I have continued taking our minivan for maintenance and have not experienced any more problems with their service department. They are efficient and courteous. However, I've noticed that nearly every time I go for an oil change my car is also due for some other maintenance or check. I also like their courtesy ride home whenever I leave our minivan there for work that takes too long for me to wait in the lobby. They have clean restrooms, comfortable seating, even bottled water and coffee and donuts in the morning. read more

Worst experience in recall repair. They repaired a recall that was already done 6 months ago because they were too lazy to look up what had already been done! When asked to repair the back up camera, they claimed it was cleaned and it was working fine. It is still not working. Ugh...I had a rather unpleasant series of experiences here and I don't plan on going back. I had a Honda Accord with A/C problems and they promised to diagnose and fix the problem for a certain price. They forgot to call me when my car was done so I waited all day for nothing :( Then, I drove it for a day and the freon was gone again. They worked on it again and "fixed" it again at no additional charge. But then after a day or two the same problem came right back. Fail. The reason I am giving two stars instead of one is the guy was nice to me even though they didn't fix the problem. read more

Initially, I went into the dealership to inquire about the new Honda Civic Touring. I was looking into a few other comparable vehicles but the high tech features of the Civic really caught my attention. I had a lot of questions because I was really excited about the new car. When the salesman first approached me, he eagerly asked if I was looking to buy now. I told him that I was looking into a purchase within the next 30 days-- I wanted to do more research on the vehicle. Before I can start asking him questions regarding the functionalities of the vehicle, he rudely advised me that he worked off commission and that he had other clients who wanted to buy now. I was caught off guard with how he was implying that he didn't have time for me, so I just asked him for a brochure so he can tend to his "more important clients". Since my first experience at Barber Honda was an unpleasant one, I decided to call another Honda location which had excellent customer service and offered a better deal! At the time, I was certain that I would make a deal with the dealership out of town because customer service is imperative to me. After talking it over with my wife, she convinced me to give Barber Honda a second chance. My second visit was a little better. The salesman, Felix, gave me his time and attention and even offered to match the price of the out of town dealership. Prior to making the sale, I asked to have the Touring emblem removed. They were hesitant on removing it, however they advised that they can remove it. I have had emblems removed from my Lexus's, Mercedes and GMC and have never had an issue with the dealership removing them. He stated there may be some paint chipped from the removal but I was confident that Honda would have a professional remove it without any issues so, I agreed. When they removed the Touring emblem, it was done in approximately 15 minutes and the clear coat behind the emblem was noticeably removed. Typically, I get a call from the car dealership's sales department within 24 hours of my purchase to see how things are going with my car purchase-- I never got a call. After over a week of waiting, I took it upon myself to go to the dealership to make an an appointment to fix the clear coat from the emblem removal. I asked to speak to supervisor or sales manager. Reza Ramzeian, the sales manager came to help and I asked why I never received a call so that I can address the clear coat issue. He said he knew about the clear coat damage but never attempted to contact me to set up an appointment to get it fixed. It seemed like he wanted to keep that information to himself hoping I wouldn't notice the damage. He wanted to see the damage and I said sure. Before walking outside, he asked if the salesman warned me of the possible damage. He then exclaimed "you need to man up". I immediately told him that "you do not talk to me that manner." I have never been treated so horribly. I said he needs to speak to me as a customer. He then began raising his voice and said he's calling the police to have me removed from the property. I was so caught off guard with his raised voice and unprofessionalism. He was a sales manager and to me, folks of that caliber are typically cool, collective and professional at all times. All I wanted was for my new car to be fixed. I didn't think I was going to walk out of there feeling like a criminal. I told Reza that I needed my car fixed and there is no reason to call the police. Additionally, the vent registers and subwoofer are defective and need to be addressed. read more

Normally I'm greeted quickly and have a good experience when getting my car serviced here. This is more of a cautionary tale for anyone who might come upon the same situation where your battery is testing bad and is OUT OF WARRANTY. DO NOT except a new battery at their prorated price. My battery warranty expired in February and I was offered a battery at the prorated price of $50 something dollars.. seems like a good deal. It's not, labor adds on $37 so I ended up at $95 out the door. Still better than almost $180 for a full priced battery.. it's not! Your warranty will not start over, they still use the original purchase date. If your warranty was already up you will not have one on the new battery. I was not told this until the service was complete and I was checking out. Had I know I would've gone elsewhere to insure that a warranty was in place. #FeelingRippedOff read more

This review is for the Service Center, particularly Dustin and is long overdue for his extremely helpful customer service. We drove to Bakersfield on Xmas Eve last year to pick up our 8 week old puppy in Bakersfield as a Xmas present for my kids. We unfortunately got into a fender bender and our vehicle ran into trouble as we were getting off the freeway. We were hours away from home and it was getting dark and I was with my two young kids and two puppies on Xmas Eve. Yikes! Long story short, I was able to get over to Barber's Honda and my car battery died just as we got there. Dustin was able to help me get my vehicle restarted and when it didn't work, the Honda service staff --about 4 to 5 men pushed our minivan for about 10-15 feet to our parking spot! They told me that they didn't do repairs at this Honda but that I could keep my vehicle there for pick-up by a repair shop. Dustin was so helpful and kind enough to let us keep our vehicle parked there. I was able to leave him our vehicle key and he oversaw that our vehicle got picked up a few days later when we had already drove home. His customer service was extremely helpful and it made the unfortunate situation so much more manageable and convenient for us. Given that we lived 4 hrs north, it was such a comfort to know that he could coordinate this for us. Thank you Dustin for your excellent customer service!! read more

The service here at Barber Honda is at its worse. My mother walked into barber Honda for an oil change a little over a month ago. She is told there are numerous things wrong with her car starting with the transmission, then steering wheel and etc. My mother takes very good care of her car as she always has. She is told they are going to keep her car overnight until the next day when the technician is there. Next day arrives and they hadn't even looked at her car. So she's then told they are going to need the car the whole weekend. So therefore she will be with out her car for four days. Not once did anyone offer her a loaner which I know was possible. I had to call and request a loaner for her. Monday her car is now ready. She drives away $4000 dollars later and her car stops at the intersection. Luckily for Honda it restarted. As she's drives back to Honda it stops again. She finally makes it there and is told she's going to have to leave it again over night. What a bunch of bull! Quick and simple advice. If the technicians are not fully knowledgeable of what they are doing then maybe they need to apply at a job less mechanical like flipping burgers for McDonald's. Unfortunately there are other people out there who have horrible experiences such as this but don't take the time to voice it out. I refuse to let anyone take advantage of my mother because she's an elderly woman. Shame in you Honda. We will take our services to Acura from now on. It may cost a little more but at least we know the job will get done right the first time. Your services are not even worth the one star I rated you. The service at Barber Honda is good but do not get the complimentary wash. They leave the car with smudges and wipe marks.

In the summer of 2017 I took my 2016 civic, that I bought brand new off the lot into the service center because my AC was hot. They said if they find a Problem it would be covered under warranty, the only problem the found was my new car was low on Freon and because they didn't find a leak I had to pay for them to fill my car with Freon for $200 or pay $100 for a diagnostic fee. I ended up paying the $200 bucks because it was going to cost me that price anyway. So here we are in April 2018 and the same problem occurs they checked my AC and it was low on Freon and last time they said I wouldn't have to pay anything if the problem occurred again within the same year. I ended up paying a $100 deductible even though they didn't fix it the first time. So all in all I'm out $300 bucks and I guess it will just have to be another lesson learned. I definitely feel like I got bent over, and I'm sure you know the rest. I definitely will not be buying another Honda. read more

I just bought a Honda HR-V. The sales man David Lopez was referred to me by a friend. I made an appointment with him for Sat. morning. He told me he would be going to a wedding that day but would meet with me in the morning. I appreciated that he told me that. I was also impressed by his professionalism and his patience, I drove three cars and he explained things about each car to help me make a choice. It was fun driving the cars and I love the car I bought. The extended warranty process was not pleasant. I've bought other cars and unless you buy their warranty it won't be pleasant. My 2012 Honda Odyssey just spent 25 DAYS at Barber Honda, and while I'm not impressed with "America Honda Company", I was very pleased with the service at Barber Honda. Our van needed a repair which was under warranty, but America Honda refused to authorize a rental vehicle for the duration of repairs (knowing that it could take up to 2 weeks). There was a delay in receiving parts, through no fault of Barber Honda, and they stepped up to provide a loaner vehicle to us at their expense. I will always be grateful for their help, as 25 days with out a vehicle would have been a huge hardship for our family. read more

Today, I'm a very happy owner of a 2008 Used Honda Accord. Previous owner took excellent care of this car. I traded my car in and could not have had better care. My parents bought Pontiacs from Barber for years. I had a 1991 Honda and loved it but sold it when I married as my husband had new transportation. Took my 2015 Honda Pilot in to have the suspension inspected and found they are a very trustworthy and reputable shop; hard to find in this business. Dustin really went out of his way for us but then again, everyone in their service department treated us pretty awesome. It was a good experience. While I'm still not a "dealership" guy, Barber Honda sold me with their honesty and excellent customer service. I tried to buy my Honda at Barber Honda last March 2013. I called, set up an appointment, brought in the figure that I was willing to pay for a 2013 CRV with nav. When I got there I was offered (get this) a 2012 at list price..HUH?? I spent about an hour there and decided enough was enough. I called Robertson Honda in Palmdale (yes quite a trip) told them what I wanted. They said they would have the car there the next day. I drove there, gave them what I would pay and wham a deal was made. I got what I wanted, paid a fair price. I want to add that I am a woman and I did this alone but I did all my homework and knew what I would pay and was willing to walk away if I couldn't get it done to my satisfaction.
