Happy Hour trio - Patatas Bravas, meatballs, and Chicken Jamón Croquettes
    Trendy D.

It's been a while since I came here, but I LOVE Barcelona! The happy hour deals are pretty good. I wish they had more wine options on the happy hour menu specifically red wine. The service was great, our waitress and fast, kind, and checked in with our group the perfect amount of times. The food was all amazing. They're fairly small portions so you do end up spending quite a bit, but the quality is great! If you want the paella you have to order right when you arrive cause it's 30 mins to 45 mins for them to cook it. Paella Salvaje* 5/5 Grilled octopus 5/5 Spiced Beef Empanadas 3.5/5 (tasted like pasta on the inside no spice lol) hanger steak 5/5 Happy hour trio deal Patatas Bravas 3/5 meatballs 4/5 Chicken Jamón Croquettes 4.5/5 Wines were alright. We ordered the sherry dessert wine which was not a fan fave. The sparkling white wine on the HH was refreshing and pretty good, very dry. Overall, always a good experience. It wasn't too crazy on a Thursday night. The inside ambiance is nicer at night time than day time. I'll have to go back for HH again and order some apps and paella.

Barcelona Reston delivers a strong tapas experience with a few minor misses. The menu has a great variety, and overall the food quality is impressive. The standout for me was the patatas bravas--perfectly crispy potatoes paired with a spectacular garlic aioli. The truffle sheep's cheese was also outstanding, rich and flavorful, although the truffle honey didn't quite deliver on its promise--I could barely taste the truffle. It also only came with one slice of toasted bread, but thankfully the bread service helped stretch the dish (and even then, there was still cheese left over). The spiced beef empanadas were nicely crisp and satisfying. The grilled octopus, however, was just okay--slightly over-charred, which made it hard to fully appreciate the flavor. On the other hand, the paella salvaje was excellent, loaded with chicken, gaucho sausage, pork belly, chickpeas, and pickled onions. Definitely a must-order--but be sure to put it in early since it takes a while to prepare. For dessert, the flan catalan was a great finish--not overly sweet and nicely balanced. The wine list is another highlight, with plenty of good options available by the glass. We ordered the paella first and followed it with four tapas, which ended up being plenty of food for four people. Pricing came out to about $45 per person before tip, which felt reasonable for the quality and quantity. The interior has a warm, stylish vibe with lots of wood and dark tones, though it does feel a bit cramped--tables and booths are quite close together, and it can get pretty loud. Service was friendly and well-paced. It does get busy during peak hours, so reservations are highly recommended (they use Tock). Overall, a great spot for tapas with a lively atmosphere--just be prepared for some noise and tight seating.

This place is definitely hopping on Saturdays. The portions are shareable but some are smaller or larger than others. The service for our group was ok. I like the layout of the restaurant. Both outside and inside seating. A nice bar area that can get a bit crowded. They did a good job turning over tables.

Such a great experience! Having been to Barcelona Spain multiple times this past year, I felt it held up to the high standard. Enjoyed shrimp w garlic, mushrooms w mint, Patatas bravas, cheese tray, and paella. The paella had that crispy edge that is required. Particularly enjoyed the marinated Mahon cheese, which had lemon rinds. Good sangria, good priarat. Overall we felt like we were back in Spain.

I've been a couple of times but I actually really like this place ! It's a cute place with good happy hour and solid tapas. My girlfriends and I came on a Friday and happy hour starts at 4. We ordered the mini espresso martinis which were so delicious and also the cosmo. We have some of the happy hour snacks, which we ordered as well as our personal favorite the seafood paella from the normal menu. It is a really great place for tapas and the workers there are attentive and kind.

Gambas tasted so good it didn't make it in the picture lol Spicy Eggplant Caponata, salpicón de mariscos, pumpkin burrata

We came to Barcelona Reston to get a break from eating Thanksgiving leftovers so we stuck to the seafood items. In a Spanish tradition, we got a complimentary pumpkin burrata tapas after we ordered sangrias. We ordered a few other tapas while we waited for the paella mariscos (seafood). The salpicón de mariscos tasted so refreshing as it resembled a mix between a seafood salad without the greens and ceviche followed by a garlicky gambas (shrimp) al ajillo. The bartender recommended the eggplant caponata and it did not disappoint as I liked the slightly sweet and savory taste. Finally, the seafood paella came and it was worth the wait with plenty of seafood and a nice crispy soccarat at the bottom; The half size portions was plenty for two people. We enjoyed eating at the wraparound bar and getting a taste of Spain in Reston. Will have to come back with more people so we can share more tapas next time.

Was celebrating a special occasion and wanted to get some good wine and food. Lots of people rave about this place so excited to finally try. I was honestly a bit disappointed. We got their sangrias which were decent but we ordered a lot of the food to try. There were some dishes that we liked like the Paella, Flank Steak and Patatas Bratvas, but almost everything was too salty. Almost everything was heavily salted and in some instances, almost too salty to eat. The service, while very friendly, was extremely slow. Even before the restaurant started to pick up, we sat for about 15 minutes before someone came by to let us know our server would be there shortly. Not sure why this place gets so much praise but personally was not a fan. Entrees: Paella Mariscos, Flank Steak, Croquettes, and Mussels Sides: Patatas Bratvas, Eggplant Caponata and Broccolini Drinks: White Wine and Red Wine Sangria

I love their paella here and the wine always hits. The bone marrow was delicious very umami. It does get pretty loud and crowded here (we were party of 7 seated at booth) so it felt a little cramped. Good place to share food but will be hard to hear across the table during peak dinner times.

I always have a wonderful time here!! With my most recent visit, we were seated a bit later than our reservation time and our server was so lovely; she apologized for our wait and placed down some complimentary hummus and pickled veggies to nibble on while we settled in and browsed the menu. You really cannot go wrong with anything on their menu but the patatas bravas have my heart. Such a lovely place for a girls night out.

First time trying Barcelona last night, and we may have found our new favorite go to place in RTC! We were glad we made a reservation as the restaurant was hoping. Very cool vibe, a bit loud but I have some hearing impairment, but really no big deal. Emma was our server and she was EXCELLENT! Very knowledgeable of all menu items and the cocktail menu. We started with a charcuterie of aged manchego, jamón serrano and speck. We then chose 6 tapas. While the paella choices looked amazing we knew that would be too much food. We had: Brocolini Txipirones en su tinta Flank steak Filet mignon Jamón y manchefo croquetas Spiced beef empanadas Everything was amazing but the Txipirones en su tinta was amazing!! Emma had made sure we were cool with black squid ink as many freaked out by it. So good! Can't wait to come back again!

We had such a great time at Barcelona!! Our server was really nice and the place is very busy. You'll definitely want to book a reservation, on a Saturday night especially. Everything we ordered was fabulous. Some of my favorites are the sheep's cheese, jamon croquetas, and patatas bravas. We also ordered Jamon Serrano, artichoke hummus, mussels, and the pork belly. The pork belly was phenomenal!!! I did not expect that to be my favorite tapas item, but it was so tender. The ambiance is lively and the tables are packed in. The bread to start is also so fresh and hot. Lastly, the sangria here is amazing. We'll definitely come back for more date nights :)

Barcelona Reston Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Barcelona Reston

How late do they serve dinner until?

Last call for food is usually an hour before closing time. The paellas take upwards of 45 minutes, so they usually stop taking orders for them an hour and half before closing.

What kind of dress code to expect here: casual, smart casual, fine dining?

Casual or smart casual. You don't need to be dressed up to go to this restaurant.

    What are brunch hours?

Brunch is served Saturday & Sunday 11:00 am till 3;00 pm

Do they have a kids' menu for the little ones?

There are a few "off menu" items for kids: chicken tenders with fries, pasta with meatballs, or plain buttered pasta noodles. They have shredded Manchego for the pastas too if you ask for it.

Is there a Happy Hour ? I don't see HH menu on their website

There use to be one. But I have not seen one since 2020.

    Does the staff wear masks?

I went about a month ago and they did

I see they have dairy-free options, but do they also have gluten-free options?

Yes, there are a variety of options since they have a variety of Tapas available

Do they still have happy hour 4-6 M-Fri? And what are the deals?

Yes, they do! They also have 50% off bottle of wine on Monday nights as well starting at 4PM!

The salmon did not taste fresh or well prepared--it was drenched in oil, which overwhelmed the flavor. It gave the impression that it had not been cooked with much care. The avocado was fine, but there were only three very small pieces on the entire sandwich, making it difficult to even notice. Instead, the sandwich was loaded with mayonnaise, to the point where it tasted more like a mayonnaise sandwich than a salmon and avocado sandwich. Considering the price, I expected much better quality. This café has an excellent location and a lot of potential, but it seems that the kitchen is not receiving the attention it deserves. Investing in better food preparation--or providing additional training for the kitchen staff--would make a significant difference. A good sandwich does not require complicated techniques, and avoiding excessively oily fish is a basic part of preparing a quality meal. I left disappointed with the food. The café has everything it needs to provide a great dining experience, but the quality simply does not match the price. I hope the owners take customer feedback seriously because this place has the potential to be much better.

We were given a booth by the window and right by the server's station. Looking over the menu at home, we both decided that we would get a bacon cheeseburger. The entrees seemed, to us, to be too filling. The bacon cheeseburger consists of: "100% angus burger, apple-wood smoked bacon, vermont white cheddar, canadian cheddar, sliced tomato, and crispy leaf lettuce". We both ordered it cooked medium. The dish comes with fries. To drink, I had ginger ale while my husband had a Heineken 00. Our server was friendly and efficient. He made a mistake, bringing my husband a Coke instead of the beer. My husband corrected him. He apologized and retrieved the correct drink. The burger was dry and overcooked. It was more on the medium well side. In one way, I didn't mind that as I didn't end up with greasy hands or a burger that falls apart. The bacon and the cheese provided some relief from the dryness. The fries came out hot, which we appreciated. All in all, it was an OK experience; we would consider going again sometime.
