I've been to Barcelona a few times so it averages out as a 3.5/5 The first time I went with a reservation for a group of 10, pre-Covid. We were seated about an hour and a half after our reservation time. We asked twice about the wait but were met with noncommittal answers. We ordered drinks and then awkwardly stood around waiting. If we weren't there for a birthday, I would've went elsewhere. We received apologizes but nothing else. We went about 2x after. Last time my card was overcharged but after calling it was adjusted. I was hesitant to go to Barcelona because of some critical bad reviews on Yelp but I am glad we gave it a try. The food was very similar to what you can get in Spain, but do go to Spain to really experience tapas if you can. Our waiter was very attentive, informative, and knew how to keep the food flowing out of the kitchen. I think the best value on the menu is the Aperitivo board, an excellent value for the amount of full size portions they give you. My only other suggestions would perhaps be a happy hour menu to draw in more curious diners with drink specials, but they don't have a problem packing the place on a Friday evening, so you better make a reservation. I would have preferred my Serrano ham to be super thin as I would see in Spain, but the quality of all the food was great. Definitely worth your time and $$. read more

I been going to Barcelona for a while and it's been amazing service at the bar. However, tonight the young lady working at the bar she seemed upset or something and seemed off. She would be making the drinks for the customers but it was like she was angry making them. I felt the vibe wasn't good. Anyways, she was making a drink for someone and she smashed the syrup bottle in front of me and got the glass on my arm and probably some of the red syrup on my shirt , but I was wearing a black shirt so i guess it won't show. For the management, know your employees, if they are having a bad day then send them home, there should be no reason for them to be working if they are upset or angry which would cause an accident like tonight. A delightful evening. A perfect date night spot. We called and made a reservation about an hour before arriving and we were seated quickly when we did arrive. The person who showed us to our table explained the menu and gave recommendations. Our server also offered additional information and asked for any allergies. We got a variety of tapas plates and enjoyed them all. My favorite was the croquettes - they were so creamy inside and so crunchy outside. They were served nice and hot and I could have eaten 50 of them. The spicy beef empanadas were also really good - the dough especially was good. We got the truffled sheep's cheese- it was really good for what it is (I don't actually like truffle, so not for me). Portions are smaller so don't come in with the expectations that you'll get full off one dish (keep in mind this is a tapas place and they're supposed to be small plates). Service has been better when seated at the bar; I went with coworkers from out of town a little over a year ago and we sat at the bar for hours. The bartender was a younger Asian woman who was very attentive and helpful. She also made the best chocolate cake/birthday cake shot. I haven't seen her in awhile so I'm not sure if she still works there. My most recent visit was during COVID and they appear to be doing well which is great to see. We ordered our typical dishes (patatas bravas and croquettas), but this time I also ordered Jameson. The Jameson came with a little fly garnish floating in it. I was in the Reston area and wanted to get a lunch. I saw a place called Barcelona on Yelp and I'm kinda aghast that I had never seen it - I mean Bartaco Reston is right next door and I had gone there twice already lol. They have mainly tapas here. I was seated immediately as a table of one (it was mostly full around 115pm on a Wednesday) and I was given an extensive drink menu and a sheet that had the menu. What. Haha. I went for a vino rosado, a 2017 Garnatxa/Syrah from Spain. Interesting. It was served chill and subtle in its sweetness. I liked it haha. For their tapas, I went for: the potato tortilla (includes chive sour cream) -$5 Hangar Steak $11.50 Spiced beef empanadas ($6.75) All three came quickly. The hangar steak with its truffle vinaigrette was mind-blowing haha. I can't even describe how it tastes. The vinaigrette made the dish. The Potato tortilla was kinda like a cake slice and it was compacted with potatoes throughout. Huge fan of that. The spiced beef empanads - outside was a bit overdone but the pocket of heat inside with their beef mhm. They do not skimp on the meat inside too, and every bite was full of beef. As a party of one, I enjoyed having tapas as they're really small dishes and I can choose from here and there instead of having one huge dish. I kinda wish I knew more about Spanish wines or wines/alcoholic drinks in general so that I could know what I want a bit better- no harm in trying here and there though. Free bread with olive oil. I may be the minority here but the food really missed their mark here. I've been to the one in D.C. several times but also indulged in a lot of sangria there so maybe that's why I remembered it being so great? Bone marrow- i know there isn't a ton in there but it felt like basically 99% of onions and bread. Patatas bravas- i love my potatoes and boy did they deliver on this one. loved it more than Jose Andres's versions. Pulpo- tender which was great. But all you could taste was smoke. it was also hard to tell how much was in there b/c of all the veggies. Dates and bacon- it was fine. you must like blue cheese. Pork belly- not bad. decently tender. Overall, it might be a place I would recommend for happy hour to get drinks for the ambiance with a few bites to eat. I always have a great meal at Barcelona. This was my first time going to the Reston location, I usually frequent the 14th street location, and I was so happy they had ample outdoor seating. There is a wide selection of food and everything tasted great. The paella felt very oily but still had great flavors. I really enjoyed my Summer Street Sling cocktail; it had a great balance between herbal, bitter and sweet flavors. The Burnt Basque Cheese Cake and Flan Catalan were very good. If you like french flan you'll like the Flan Catalan, but the Flan Catalan sticks in your mouth a lot more. The Burnt Basque Cheese Cake is my favorite cheesecake to date! You MUST get the Patatas Bravas! The staff was very friendly and attentive. I'd highly recommend sitting outdoors at Barcelona or ordering food to go! read more

Went for dinner last night and everything about our visit was terrific. We arrived right after the huge storm around 815pm and the staff had to move all of the people from outside to the inside. The hostess was great -making sure that everyone was getting seated and although we had to wait a bit - the situation was due to the weather and everyone understood. My favorite restaurant in the DMV. I come every year for my birthday. The wait staff is very good and the food is always phenomenal. I'm happy that they have not taken the croquets off the menu because that's the most delicious tapa to get and the new fig and sausage addition is great too. The chicken and potato dish is a must have but just know it'll take about half an hour to prepare. The only complaint I have about this visit is that they had none of the wines that myself or my cousin wanted to try. They were out about 4-5 of them and I tend to only drink sweet wines so that was slightly disappointing. My waiter did suggest the sangria but to be honest it's not the best. But alas, I quickly saw that they had a bottle of the Sir Winston Churchill Pol Roger, in the 2012 vintage. Only ever seen these bottles in the fine dining areas of DC! ! My wife and I ordered Sir Winston Churchill with the mussels, the scallops, the ox tail, and the seared duck, paired with the aperitivo board! Hands down, this is my favorite restaurant in Reston! Not only am I wine bar junkie, but I'm a foodie on top of it. Starting with the ambiance, this place is stellar. Dark lot, interesting decor, private dining space available, and several servers to help at your table. The wine list is extensive and they have a some to help you pick one that's right for you (if requested). Their wine flights are interesting and their wine prices are not ridiculous. Food wise they're unbeatable. Their foods are mostly tapas. Their foods are amazingly crafted Spanish delights. I've tried nearly everything on their menu. I highly recommend the Serrano peppers (weirdly eat them by hand they taste even better!), croquettes and hangar steak are my top 3 (after getting meats and cheeses of course!). I recommend the Idiazábal cheese if you've never had it - super tasty! I would recommend 2 tapas a person. In regard to desert, the hazelnut desert doesn't taste like hazelnut, which was a bit confusing. That said, it was fantastic! Service wise, this place can be busy, but I've never felt forgotten. The servers have always been friendly and helpful when picking a dish. I highly recommend making a reservation, especially on a Friday or weekend. I wish they let you make a res through open table (*the points are great!), but you have to make them through their website or call. Again, this restaurant has not disappointed me. I'm also always surprised at how much food and wine we get and how our bill isn't humongous! read more

I was here for a friend's birthday dinner last week, and I'm glad we came here! I requested to be seated in a booth and I observed they do keep an empty table in between everyone. I forgot to take a pic of the cute ornament they put on the table to mark them as empty... =/ We both had couple things we definitely wanted to order, but they weren't on the menu that day... but our awesome server/bartender lady made it happen! (Sorry I forgot her name) So we started off with a red wine called Bardos. Amazing wine. It was just the right amount of sweetness and paired very well with everything... especially with the whipped sheep's cheese with honey and truffle. OMG. We could have eaten this as a meal the whole night and eat it again the next day! (Wasn't on the menu that day) Also had an order of shishito peppers - I wanted to be lucky to have that 1spicy one... but that didn't happen! We shared a whole fish - branzino which also wasn't on the menu that day. Each bite of it was so flakey yet firm. Loved it! It didn't look like we ordered enough food but we were both so full! So as a dessert, we shared a flan. I think it was the best flan I've ever tasted! They put a candle on it so the bday boy can make a wish! I'll Be back for more sheep's cheese dip and the wine! Came here with some friends, while the food and prices were great, our service wasn't the best. Tables surrounding us had similar issusrs. We had trouble requesting small things like utensils, refills, etc. A lot of our orders came out incorrectly and the server was frustrated that we didnt want what was given to us instead. With that, our order took about 1.5 hours to come out which was a bit frustrating as some things werent warm or only one person could eat while everyone else was eating. The olive oil cake was the star of the show!!! Got a slice with a latte and it was delicious Again, the food was great definitely worth the try, but I think next time we go we might look into take out rather than dine-in read more
