I went with the Albondigas, Lobster Risotto, Patatas Bravas, Jamon & Manchego Croquettas and the Paella Mariscos (Half). All of the tapas were delicious in their own way, from the flavor and how well they were cooked. My favorite was the Lobster Risotto and the Paella Mariscos! The Service: The service was great! The staff were attentive and kind when greeting my party. And, orders were out to us within a timely manner. The Atmosphere: The atmosphere was very nice! We were here for and early lunch and found the service and ambiance to be amazing. Here is what we ordered: - Patatas Bravas: this was delicious. My absolute favorite thing at the restaurant. I love this place. The food is magnificent, and the service consistently goes above and beyond. Everyone is friendly, and I've never had a bad experience. The music and ambiance are always very pleasant. I've been coming here for a couple of years now--for business meetings, dates, and even when I want to be alone and enjoy myself. However, I've noticed that every single time I come here, even if the host or server clearly speaks Spanish, they won't respond in Spanish when greeted in Spanish. I find this ironic, considering this is a Spanish/Catalan restaurant. He went out the menu and gave us the wait time for each area of the menu. We received hot bread and olive oil, which was delicious. Been to this location a bunch of times since moving to the DMV. It's pretty out of the way to travel to Reston- truth be told, the DC one is far closer for me. But being able to park easily is a winner. Last time I was here was over the past weekend- we ordered about 6 dishes and had 2-3 glasses of wine each. The atmosphere is what draws me to this place- the large but very cozy bar with knowledgeable and friendly bartenders, with a rustic finishing touch here and there- makes for a great casual date night. We met at Barcelona Wine Bar for lunch in Reston Town Center. I love that it so close to the parking garage and overlooks the park area. We were seated outside immediately upon arriving. We had peach mimosas and a variety of tapas. Highly recommend the chorizo and fig, and the potato tortilla. My friend was gluten free so we didn't order, but normally I also get jamon and manchego croquettes and the patatas bravas. Speaking of, the restaurant handled my friend's gluten allergy extremely well. Came here for an early dinner with friends and the placed was packed. I highly recommend a reservation as this place is very busy. We started with a few drinks before the full party arrived. The bartender was nice and quick with the drink. Since this was the first time trying this place, we started slow and ordered a few tapas to gauge how much food each plate was. We started off with patatas bravas, sautéed spinach and chickpeas, chicken croquettes, and spiced beef empenadas, and brussel sprouts. Everything was good besides the potatoes. We also ordered the paella salvaje which takes about 45 minutes after you order it to arrive so that was the first thing we put in. After the first round of tapas, we ordered a few more plates. Lobster croquettes, flank steak, and short rib. We finished with the cheesecake and flan. The cheesecake was really good. Flan was meh. I'd say the star of the show was the paella. It had tons of flavor and I would have eaten more if I had anymore room in my belly. As the clock hit 7:00pm, the lights got dim and music started blasting. It was a great location to grab a quick bite and the food was delicious and the service was extremely friendly and helpful. Barcelona reston has a decent amount of seats both inside and outside and we were able to walk in on a Monday night and get seated inside with no problem even though it was pretty busy. We ended up splitting 4 tapas and the kitchen even sent out one complimentary tapa to our table. I have heard wonderful things about Barcelona Wine Bar and finally had the chance to try it. When we arrived we were welcomed by friendly staff and seated right away without reservations. The ambiance was moody/hip and really impressed me while also setting the stage for the delicious food and drinks we were about to have! The pork belly literally melted in our mouths and the flank steak had a great citrus flavor. The pollo pintxo was super tender from the yogurt marinade and the dill aioli was tasty. The mussels were yummy and unique. I feel like most places focus on garlic with their mussels but Barcelona did an incredible job by adding a next level of flavor with sofrito. Our other favorites were the patatas bravas (garlic aioli so good you may want to drink it) and brussel sprouts. We wanted to enjoy the glazed sweet potato but all agreed they were entirely too sweet. You gotta try the patatas bravas - crispy potatoes, umami garlic aioli sauce, and a pretty good portion size (I think it could adequately feed 3-4 people). I think the seafood paella is worth trying if you haven't tried it before! The paellas take longer to come out than the tapas which are relatively quick. Complimentary bread and olive oil are also given with the meal. I think it might depend which area you're seated in but the vibes of the right side of the restaurant are low lighting, crowded, and loud (even on a week night). Despite us spending $100 on food and wine and still wanting to stay there and get more food and wine we had to leave because of this patron. Not a woman friendly bar. Barcelona Wine Bar is the rare chain that manages to actually feel like an intimate dining experience. My wife and I tried it out for the first time on a Sunday for brunch, and will definitely be coming back. Waiter was friendly and fun. We were seated immediately- we had a reservation but didn't wind up really needing it. I could see this being different for dinner. Aesthetically, the space feels modern and ~ trendy ~. Even though it was maybe 12:30 in the afternoon, the speakers were kind of blasting random club music. We both agreed that better music would have helped the vibes - or even no music at all. Wine was good - I only had a glass this visit because we had errands to run, so I'll do a deeper dive on a subsequent visit. I had the 2018 Nucerr Reservo Tempernilo, wife had the 2019 Marques de Tomarez. We then split a glass of the Penalolin, which was probably our favorite. We split about the amount of tapas recommended by the server for a filling meal. Highlights were the beef empanadas and the sheep's cheese. Shakshuka was tasty but not like the more middle eastern style I'm used to - this was more veggie-forward with less of a sauce. Shishito peppers are always a welcome app. Patatas Bravas were great but filling, so we had plenty to take home. This area is really lacking in wine bars, and Barcelona scratches that itch. I'm eager to return and try more wine and plates. But like please find some better music. read more
