What I like about Bareburger in general is that each location is uniquely different. Whether it's what's offered on the menu, the layout, or the service provided they all feel like Bareburger but it's like a different relative that you're meeting. They have different personalities. It was our first time trying out Bareburger. We don't eat beef quite often so this was definitely a treat and we expected it to be good. We got the duke burger, the all American, and the fried chicken burger. The chicken burger was a little dry and bland. I wouldn't recommend it. The beef burgers were so tasty. We also got fries to share and we really liked the habanero mayo and the garlic aioli to go along with it. I passed by this intriguing burger joint with my boyfriend more than once and after looking up their menu and website - I was inclined to try it out with him and so we did one Saturday afternoon after the gym. We had to wait around 15-20 minutes for a table for 3 people since his mom came along too. It's quite dark inside the restaurant and has a nature-like/forest like decor. I felt as though we were dining in a forest. Our waitress came by and took down our orders with an Ipad which I found very clever and interesting. She was very nice to us. We worked backwards and started with our sides first. Rings and Fries - I love that it came with four different dipping sauces (special sauce, curry ketchup, smokehouse sauce, and smoke paprika sauce). Out of all the sauces, I liked the curry ketchup one the most. I liked the fries more than the onion rights. The fries were crunchy, crispy, and irresistible! We all got burgers. My boyfriend's mom had the Original burger which consisted of Colby Jack, Iceburg lettuce, tomatoes, raw red onions, special sauce, and beef patty. Initially, I wanted to try the Brisket burger, but than my boyfriend's eyes caught it too and he wanted it so I let him have it and I ordered a different burger. His burger sure looked aaammazzing! It was stuffed with hardwood smoked brisket, pepperjack cheese, panko breaded butter pickles, raw red onions, and smoked paprika mayo. I didn't get to try the panko breaded butter pickles even though he gave me a piece, but I wish I did try it. So I had the Smokehouse Portabella burger which was composed of -- smoked mozzarella, smokehouse portabella, and smokehouse sauce and I had it with the bison since it was recommended on the menu. This was probably the messiest burger I've ever had because a lot of the liquid from the mushroom was dripping out when I was taking bites out of my burger. I didn't really enjoy my burger since there was hardly any seasoning in it and felt so plain. If you plan on coming here for lunch, prepare for a bit of an expensive meal here because Bareburger is mostly known for Organic & All-Natural burgers. The real star of Bare Burger is not its burgers. While they have good ones (try the Elk meat just for the experience of it), the real star are its fries, especially the sweet potato fries. The sweet potato fries were cooked perfectly and generous in serving size - good for two people. And, it comes with 3 dips. One being organic ketchup - while healthy, was a bit too sour for me. The other 2 dips were great. Service is always cool and friendly although it can get a little slow when the place gets really busy and slammed with people. Just like any place. Especially, when they seem to be the hottest burger place right now in Downtown Brooklyn (close to Trader Joes, along Court Street). The interior design is casual lodge in feel but with wood done in the Brooklyn way - hip, casual, artsy, unpretentious and sexy. Gourmet burger place at its best! The movement towards organic and fair trade burger places really are making for great food. Got the Western with bison and the Supreme with beef. Both were solid burgers. At first, I thought the size was bordering on the small side, but by the end of the meal, I was pretty full. Also, the cornmeal crusted spicy pickle spears were a good surprise. I don't normally like pickles that much, but these were yummy. Service was good, and the decor was cool. This location, though, felt a little cramped (not sure about the other ones). However, overall, it makes for a good burger joint. Have to come back and sample their shakes, though. A great addition to the neighborhood. They try to provide organic options when available, and they offer tons of different kinds of meat (including boar, ostrich, elk, and veggie). I had the Habanero Express with elk (recommended on the menu). It was sloppy and delicious, with a rising heat from the peppers and chipotle mayo. You can also build your own burger, which requires a lot of steps, but the waitresses and waiters have iPads that take down your order exactly. Pretty good beer selection too. The Maui Wowie with brioche bun, wild boar, country bacon, pineapple, cherry peppers, and buttermilk sauce. The bun was soft and carb-ilicious. The patty was very well done and on the dry side. The pineapple was good but a bit small for the already small size burger. The country bacon added a nice amount of salt and fat. The spicy pickle jar ($2.5) was superb.
