I got a Wrangler with a side of small fries. First time trying this restaurant. It was delicious. Honestly, I loved how they wrapped that burger nice and tight in the paper, keeping everything together. I usually prefer a thin burger but this was good. I do wish i would have selected my temperature as medium instead of medium well but it was still really good. Nice char and seasoned. The frizzled onions ended up being the onion rings but whatever. . I expected the wham bam sauce to be different because it was described as smoke sauce with buffalo sauce mixed..to me it was just bbq sauce which i dont fancy. However, it was still good.The mushrooms were icing on the cake, nice and beefy. Nice crisp on the fries and those were seasoned nicely, as well. All the hype and being top 10 in NYC made me so excited to come out and try the place but I left with a "eh it was ok, nothing to rave about" feeling with a small shrug. Bareburger in Montclair is smack in the middle of the downtown area between Anthropologie and the Cinema theater. It has 2 entrances (from bloomfield ave) and from the theater area. Cute decor, clean, had a TV playing cartoons (behind the bar) but we sat literally at a booth in front of the door so the kids couldn't even see it. Mind you sitting next to the door, if it's chilly out, YOU WILL feel that breeze hit you each time the door opens. Service was great. Austin was so friendly and always checked on us which we appreciated. Food came out QUICK! Pros: - Menu has the calories on it....I love that...helps me kinda control what I eat heehee - Onion rings are delicious and they offer 4 different sauces for dipping (Smoked BbQ, Paprika Mayo, Special Sauce and Ranch (this was my fave). - You have the option to customize your burger - Lots of healthy options Cons: - Street parking, but check if they have a back parking lot because the theater is connected so I'm not quite sure - It's a bit pricey because it's organic - WiFi is slow or not working Now the food: Roasted Brussels Sprouts as a starter was delicious. I know brussell sprouts are an acquired taste....can taste a bit bitter but the seasonings they use was yummy....I love how they perfectly roasted it and the option to squeeze with lemon gave it a Lil zing....mmmmm. Hog wild burger - I honestly was not wow'ed by this. I was disappointed. It wasn't tasty....it was a bit dry and bland. I wish I ordered my daughters choice which was the Picked Fried Chicken sandwich....she devoured that. It was crisp and had lots of flavor....her entree was definitely the winner and she was a happy camper. Onion rings were one of my faves....mmmmmmm omg really good. The breading was thick and the seasoning was perfect....once you bit into it, it didn't fall apart. I wanted more but it came with sweet fries so there was only about 5 rings but lots of sweet potato fries....they were good too. Now to end if off with a Snickerdoodle Sammie.....that my friend is an ice cream Snickerdoodle sandwich....I felt it was store bought. It didn't taste homemade at all. The cookie didn't taste fresh....I was expecting it to be a bit warm, with a cookie crisp but it was like eating an ice cream sandwich from the frozen food section....don't get me wrong it was good....nothing to rave about.....definitely fixed my cravings for sweets. So would I try the place again, sure I would. They had great salads, veggie sides, sliders, more burgers, different sandwiches and shakes....I want to try the banana foster shake next time I come. read more

My gf introduced me to this burger chain and I'm so happy she did. This location is bright, airy and colorful. Plenty of seating and quick service when we went in the middle of the week. Our waitress Kayleigh was awesome and they use iPods as menus. Very Montclair. My burger was great as usual and this place has a ton of options for vegans. Came to dinner here with a party of 6 people. One of my friends had been to other Bareburger locations and highly recommended we check it. We were greeted and seated very quickly. I thought that it would be packed on a Saturday night. We got a bench table that fit our group comfortably. The decor has a bar feel but they don't serve alcohol. We ordered the Macho fries and Fundido fries as shareable for the table and everyone tried a different burger. The Macho fries and Fundido fries were my favorite part of the meal. The Macho fries were smothered with cheese, jalapeños, and guac. The fundido fries had bacon bits, BBQ sauce, and queso. We devoured them! I highly recommend. I ordered that American Burger and added bacon. My burger was good but not anything that wowed me. You can tell it's super fresh and that they use good cuts of meat. They restaurant gives you the option to chose a different meat (i.e. bison, turkey, vegan) which is pretty cool. Everyone seemed to be happy with their meals. Finally had a chance to go here with the family and see if Bareburger lives up to all the hype. Maybe I had my expectations set too high due to all the favorable reviews or maybe it was just an off night for the chef(s), either which way I just wasn't wowed at all. I'd say a solid 3.5 stars here which is still a pretty good rating, and mainly due to the great service and yummy appetizer. On to the details... I do like the location (minus the street parking which is hit or miss in Montclair). Big booths to sit large groups, good music playing in the background, and just a pleasantly fun vibe going on in general with the funny art work of animals hanging up. I'd say definitely kid friendly. The service, always a huge deal to me, was great. The waiter offered some good recommendations on the menu, the food came out quickly, and the waiter came by to check on us on a regular basis, always friendly. For the starter, we went with the crispy brussel sprouts which to me was the king of the night. If you come here, definitely get yourself an order of these. Burger wise, I went with the blue elk. I gotta say I was pretty let down on this one. It's basically a bacon and blue cheese burger but with additional toppings that should have elevated the burger, but if you ask me, went too off course. 1. The bacon was chewy, any more chewy and it would have been jerky. 2. There was not enough blue cheese. 3. The onions and tomato fig jam was good but I couldn't figure out if I liked it on this burger or not - I think I would have preferred the burger without it. The elk itself was cooked nicely though, which can easily be overcooked so good job there. As a side we shared a basket of sweet potato fries and onion rings (which came out with 4 different dipping sauces). Gotta say, the rings another highlight of the evening, these were yummy. The fries were not bad at all. Lastly, we finished off with the snickerdoodle sammie. This ice cream sandwich was okay and satisfied my sweet tooth, but not the best ice cream sandwich Ive ever had. I have celiac disease, so I have to eat gluten-free and bare burger made it super easy to have gluten-free selections and gave me the option to alert them of my gluten-free needs. they have so many options and all the toppings are absolutely wonderful. I've eaten here plenty of times and I get it, the wait staff is young and aloof, I think that's what they're shooting, for but when I'm dinning, I'd rather have a staff that's attentive to my culinary needs. They still provide water, that's a big plus-long lost dinning ritual. Menus are on pads (think ipad) hmm, you'd think you'd be able to place your order on it, but no. The interior is spacious and well laid out. The food, mostly organic and locally grown but not kinda forgettable. Burgers, meh, fries double meh, onion rings triple meh. Now love the openness and family oriented of the restaurant, but it was hard to find parking but to be expected in Montclair. I ordered the lemonade and white peach, which ok. My fiancee ordered the strawberry lemonade, which was so much better in taste and flavor. I had the buckaroo burger with bacon and mushrooms, which was actually not bad. It was a juicy burger, but I feel like I have had more flavorful burgers that are healthy as well. The onion rings were fresh and sweet potato fries were like shoe strings which I liked. I was slightly disappointed due to such great reviews. I love this place!! I was introduced to bare burger about 6 months ago by a friend and I've been hooked since. I love it because they have so many meatless options to choose from. My go to meal is the Hudson salad with impossible burger meat on the side. They just added breakfast on the weekend so I decided to check it out. I got the get up wrap which was very tasty. My boyfriend got the eggy pop ( he wasn't a fan) and the silver dollar pancakes. He loved the pancakes so much he didn't use syrup. In his words " top 5 best pancakes" . He decided to get the dough holes which was basically fried mini donuts. They were fried way to hard which was disappointing because we couldn't eat it. I got the vegan milkshake which was so good. I've been to Bareburger three times before - twice with my dad, and today with my friends - and each time, the burgers have been pretty good! I unfortunately don't have any photos to share, but I got the BL-Turkey burger, which was alright. It's not the best burger I've had (I don't really like bacon in my burgers and neglected that fact today, so I didn't really like the way it scratched in my mouth) but it certainly satisfied me. I also got the sweet potato fries - delicious, but they come out very hot so be careful. The peach tea wasn't as flavorful as I'd hoped but you can tell it's obviously not loaded with artificial flavors and sweeteners. My only concern was the size of my friend's chocolate milkshake - it tastes very good, but it's awfully small for the price, while in comparison my peach tea and my other friend's lemonade fit fine for four dollar drinks. The highlight of my experience at Bareburger was the service. Our waitress was new - her name is Maddy, if I recall correctly - but she was very patient and thorough in taking our order. She was also very mindful of us on what was probably an otherwise boring Wednesday at work, so I'm very thankful! This is a Montclair establishment. You walk out of the cinema, into the main lobby and you are there. Never have to go outside. The food is typical of what you expect in the area and it looks like they will plate you if you bring your own libations. Staff is friendly and efficient and the menu is pretty self explanatory. Despite a history of messing up my orders, I've continued to pick up food from Bareburger because the burgers have been good. Today I learned that while they're still messing up orders, the food has taken a nosedive. The Buckaroo burger was inedible. The brisket was completely burnt, making it tough to the point of being sharp. When I opened the burger, I found it almost completely raw (and I ordered it medium). I mean seared for a few seconds on each side raw. Mushy pink goo raw. I dumped the whole thing and ate a bowl of cereal. I don't know what happened at the Montclair location, but they've got issues. came here with coworkers after our shift at work (arrived around 8pm). we were a big group (8) so we had to wait a bit for our seat as it was busy that night. our waiter was hilarious and great with our order. apparently they're partnered with a liquor store so my friends were able to order a case and get it delivered to our table which was pretty cool (and pay for it there on the table). i personally wasn't that hungry and only got a banana foster milkshake and the waffle fries but all my other coworkers got burgers to eat and they all seem to enjoy it. this place is definitely not bad (just maybe on the pricier side than other burger joints) but overall, i had a great time, definitely don't mind coming back (only thing is that parking sucks- you either get lucky and find metered parking or you have to park in the parking garage in the back which can get a little pricey) read more
