I've been to Bareburger three times before - twice with my dad, and today with my friends - and each time, the burgers have been pretty good! I unfortunately don't have any photos to share, but I got the BL-Turkey burger, which was alright. It's not the best burger I've had (I don't really like bacon in my burgers and neglected that fact today, so I didn't really like the way it scratched in my mouth) but it certainly satisfied me. I also got the sweet potato fries - delicious, but they come out very hot so be careful. The peach tea wasn't as flavorful as I'd hoped but you can tell it's obviously not loaded with artificial flavors and sweeteners. My only concern was the size of my friend's chocolate milkshake - it tastes very good, but it's awfully small for the price, while in comparison my peach tea and my other friend's lemonade fit fine for four dollar drinks. The highlight of my experience at Bareburger was the service. Our waitress was new - her name is Maddy, if I recall correctly - but she was very patient and thorough in taking our order. She was also very mindful of us on what was probably an otherwise boring Wednesday at work, so I'm very thankful! My new favorite burger spot. Been waiting to stop here and it was worth it. Burger, seasoning, and spices were great. Bacon was smoked to perfection and had great flavor. Habanero Mayo sauce had just the right amount of kick. My girlfriend loved her Bison burger. Neither burger was very greasy, just flavorful. Plus, the service at this particular location was lacking, and it wasn't that busy. Maybe it was just our waitress? The waitress at the next table seemed more attentive and friendly to her table. Went here for the first time with a good friend of mine, he had been here before and I have to say I really enjoyed this restaurant. They have a really vast menu of different types of burgers sandwiches salads and a lot of vegetarian choices, it was hard for me to decide. They also have some really great sides, deserts, milkshakes, herbal teas. Everything from the healthy to the not so healthy. The Decour is very inviting and warm, the restaurant is clean and well-managed and the staff were very friendly and attentive. I loved this location and the options of burgers and desserts they had. There's still more on their menu I'm itching to try. They also have fair prices for the size of their burgers. I had expected a small burger, but it was pleased to receive a good size burger for what I was paying for. I am a vegetarian and I found it difficult deciding what to eat there, there were so many options. Their newest vegetarian burger was the Thai Chai Burger. I was at first hesitant about trying it but as per our waiter's review I took the risk and tried it. And I really enjoyed the burger, it was different but tasted really good. Good burgers especially if you are looking for a good selection of vegetarian/vegan burgers. We ordered for delivery on their website and it came through DoorDash. My favorite burger here is the Gudalupe. We also had an order of the Forager and the Metador. We also shared the plant based chicken nuggets which were surprisingly delicious. They tasted and felt a bit oily but the overall taste was impressive. The regular fries somehow were still crispy after delivery (that rarely happens from anywhere). Sweet potatoes were slightly soggy but still delicious. The meal overall is a kind of expensive. I understand the ingredients they use are "premium." We like the burgers at this chain so we keep coming back. Next time I'll try the collard green wrap and sub out the bread. What an amazing little piece of New Americana. For an establishment with various locations, they are far from the run-of-the-mill chain joint! After attending a YEE at this place, a few friends and I decided to come here after an unsuccessful attempt to acquire some Ramen down the block. Dex, Cal, Phil, and I made the treacherous trek of about 1,000 feet (from our original destination) to this Bareburger location. Having tried many of their items at the event, I wanted to try something that my lips hadn't yet had the privilege of devouring. So I went with the Fire Quacker. (Their item names are so PUN-derful). It was a lovely duck patty, that was decadent and moist... Very typical of quality duck. Cooked to juicy perfection, & topped with pepper jack, habanero mayo, pickled jalapenos, red onions, spinach, tomatoes... All on a subtle brioche bun. I must say: It was DUCKING FELICIOUS. However, from my previous experience, their menu is full of delicious items that are worthy of repeat gorging: -Beauteous Brussels Sprouts -Outstanding Onion Rings -Wonderful Wiki-WIki Burger (Wild boar, gouda, duck bacon, chickpea onions, grilled pineapple, on a brioche bun.) -Succulent Supreme Burger (Beef, colby, country bacon, green leaf, chopped fries, onion rings, special sauce, on a brioche bun... Before this new location I used to have to trek to Edgewater. So happy that Bareburger has made its way to Montclair! This location is brightly lit and has a sort of "open floor" layout which I love. The two bathrooms are gender-neutral and family friendly. Service, here and at other locations, is always friendly. What I love: the menu is pretty extensive. They have salads, burgers, sandwiches, shakes, etc. I definitely look forward to trying out a new menu item every time I find myself at Bareburger and expect to never feel too bad about my selection (most times) since they have a calorie count on the menu. I ordered the Cali BLT - delicious and bigger than I expected. At other places, you order a chicken sandwich and get back a thin, cold-cut-like slice of chicken. My sandwich was not comparable. They were big pieces of lemon chicken grilled with precision. A downside? Pricey. It's so easy to end up with a $17 burger here. But if you're a healthy, organic-eating seeker, the price should not come as a surprise. They serve brunch on weekends. Open until 10pm. Bareburger Montclair has easily become my favorite go-to place. read more

One of my favorite burger chains. I went to one in Manhattan and was pleased to find that there was a location in Montclair when I moved here. Everything here is so fresh and tasty, from their burgers and chicken sandwiches to their fries and onion rings. They also have a nice selection of veggie burgers including the impossible burger. Their dipping sauces are BANGIN', I highly recommend trying a few different ones each time you order, it's worth the upcharge. You can get a burger of the same quality in Montclair for cheaper, but the prices are still fair. They also deliver, which is always very quick in my experience. I've only dined in once, but the place has a cool rustic feel and the service is good. My only complaint is that they don't serve alcohol, so no delicious mule drinks like I had at the one in New York. read more

This is one of the newly opened Bareburger in NJ, just started operation six month ago. This is a kids friendly place, and has no alcohol. It also have big screen TV playing cartoon all the time. The meat and vegetables in this chain are all organic. The onion rings is very flavorful and you have four different sauces. We tried sampler sliders during our party event. Wiki wiki burger using pork is a little dry, but the bacon can compensate it. I love the organic milk shake, specially the chocolate one with chili and melted marshmallows. P.S. The photos in this place are really freaky, dude. I would recommend to use cartoon to show these sheep-head monsters rather than the American Horror Story style. read more

Not sure what to say but not a good start rings / sweet fry are made with regular fries and rings. Rings were Not bad and the fries nothing really special $6.50 questionable. Bison burger with country bacon and Amish blue cheese, taste was very good. Food was tasty but not sure if I can honestly say $24 was reasonable for this meal. Two star rating was due to size portions not really matching the overall cost. Also I believe I got the wrong order of fries and onion rings. Came to my first Yelp event at Bareburger tonight. I've eaten at this restaurant before, and the service tonight was just as good. All the food was delicious and service was friendly and attentive. The only downfall was the fact that the waiter told us the event had slider burgers but were actually full sized burgers. I got 4 burgers and felt a bit foolish with my order. I've had Bareburger (a different location) once before, and wasn't impressed, but one of my sisters wanted to try it, so here we are. Keeping in mind my past experience and that this location is very new, I kept my expectations low. Pros: 1) The food was solid. I was actually surprised how much I enjoyed it. I got "The Standard," and my sisters got the "Wiki Wiki" and the "Blue Elk," with a few different customizations. All three burgers were very delicious, so compliments to the chef on those! However, we also got the rings and sweet fries, which we were not fans of. My sisters liked the rings, and I the fries, but there were still leftovers which is saying a lot because we walked in starving. 2) I am a fan of quality ingredients, and they pretty much have every label you would want: free range, pasture-raised, humanely treated, antibiotic free, hormone free, gluten free, organic, everything! 3) BYOB. Enough said. 4) I liked that they were playing Bob's Burgers on TV. Lol. Made me laugh. Cons: 1) The service definitely needs A LOT of work. When we first walked in, we went to the host stand where we were given a 15 min wait time. Then, a minute later, another employee came up to us to say it would be more like 45. Then, a few minutes after that, we got the text that our table was ready. I've worked as a host before, so I know that these times are estimates and we were actually lucky to be seated sooner than expected, but still, the hosts were all over the place on that. Our server was very nice and friendly, gave us his welcome spiel, and his recommendations which was all very useful. However, I don't know how his day was or if they're understaffed or what, but he came over to our table uncontrollably yawning. Very awkward. It also took us forever to get our waters, even though we asked him several times. And somehow our rings and sweet fries got overlooked, and weren't even served until halfway through our burgers. (Did I mention that we were starving?) Everyone apologized for the mishaps and all, but still, not ideal. I doubt I would come back of my own accord, but I wouldn't be opposed if someone brought me here. I just hope the service will be improved by then. read more

You can build your own burger (choose you protein, bun, cheese, toppings and sauce) or pick one of their curated options. My favorite burgers are the Southern Caviar (bison, pimento cheese, stout onions, country bacon & horseradish remoulade on a brioche bun) and the Wiki Wiki (wild boar, gouda, duck bacon, chickpea onions & grilled pineapple on a brioche bun). My favorite appetizer is the Macho Fries. A dish reminiscent of poutine, their awesome french fries are topped with guacamole, pepper jack, spicy pico de gallo and pickled jalapaños. Who doesn't like a good burger, and this place satisfies any burger craving. They offer a choice of beef, bison, turkey, or veggie burgers so anyone is sure to find one they love. I tend to always go for a beef bacon cheeseburger, they are great with a side of fries. Menu is on iPads which is a nice touch instead of traditional paper menus. Place looks like it has a young vibe, including all the wait staff. They do get everything moving quick, and no matter when I come there is either no or very little wait. I have been here twice and always go for "The Duke" with a side of fries and onion rings. I tried their chips and guacamole, fries, onion rings, salad, Wiki burger, chocolate shake and vanilla peanut butter shake. Everything was yummy. The onion rings were especially good, nice and crispy. None of that take a bite and the whole onion slips out. The shakes were great, really tasted all the ingredients. The burger was the best part. This is a rustic feel, down to earth restaurant with a modern menu. My go to from this restaurant is their SoCal burger. It is turkey,aged cheddar, guacamole, pickled red onions, alfalfa on a sprout bun. Talk about delicious. The alfalfa lends a sense of vegetation freshness. My go to drink is the vegan cococado - coconut and avocado. But you have to make sure it isn't too thick, or they put too much fresh coconut on top. It has a slight twang to it because of the lime. What a refreshing combo. The staff is always friendly and professional. Only thing I would suggest is to make aure someone is near the front to greet customers. Where can I start with Bareburger. First of all let's say the burger was the juiciest and most on point burger. It was made to perfection with bacon. The loaded fries had a spicy touch to them with the peppers. But, the onion rings were so fresh and made to perfection. The service provided by the employees was amazing. Another great place in Montclair. Casual but very chic for a burger/sandwich restaurant. We went for lunch after picking our daughter up from her freshman semester at MSU. Friendly staff greeted us from every angle and sat us at a booth with a great view of the bustling Bloomfield Ave. We started with a fantastic pot of French press dark roast coffee to sip while we decided. It was very hard to choose which sandwich to get, there were so many great choices and combinations. Our burgers and chicken sandwich came out cooked exactly medium which we liked. My only gripe was that the small serving of fairly basic fries were sold separately and pricey. Still recommended because everything was delicious, but lunch for 4 was $80 plus tip. read more

I went to Bareburger with my two daughters, neice and uncle. This was our first time eating there. The first man that asked to take our drink orders was professional and decided to give us some time to review the menu before we place our orders. But a few minutes later a young man came to our table to wait on us. This young man that waited on us was extremely cold , impatient and behaved in an agitated manner when we asked questions. Unfortunately, I didn't get his name but he was wearing glasses and wore a faded hair cut on the sides, dark and long on top. In any event four of the burgers are supposed to be well done however when the burgers came out and we started eating as we approached the center it was pink and raw. The second incident was when the server asked if we needed anything else I politely said yes please provide us with more Thai ketchup. He said okay and he walked away but was just standing around talking to the other waitresses playing with his beard and pulling up his pants and then I finally decided to just use regular ketchup on the table. I think he may have noticed because two minutes later he brought out the Thai ketchup I had asked for almost 10 minutes prior. Lastly my daughter was almost halfway through drinking her Mexican Chocolate Milkshake, she found a long blonde hair in the drink. As we we're wrapping up our meal, the first person who initially came to serve us, cleaned our table and asked if there was anything else we need. We mentioned to him the uncooked burgers and the hair in the drink. He asked if there was anything he can do about the burgers and I said no thank you. I just wanted to bring it to his attention. But he did make my daughter another milkshake and comped our check. Overall , this place is just whole bunch of kids working and lounging around. The only aduIt I believe to have encountered is the first man who attended to us first and last. He may have been a supervisor or manager from the way he carried himself. I was happy not to deal with the waiter ( the second guy) who took our orders. I usually leave a hefty tip but I just left the basic 15% tip. I can say the decor and set up is what makes the dining experience decent but the burgers are average and the service is no good. read more

I really wanted to love this place as someone who always looks for a "healthy" option at a burger, but unfortunately the search continues. The venue and decoration was fantastic, but the service needs to match up with it. I don't think I saw my waiter after I placed the order -- he just disappeared. They need to cash in on getting staff that's experienced and not the typical Bloomfield Ave skater. Their 'backbone' is how you can build your owner burger with all natural, grass fed meat. But be careful because your tab will rack up. Still surprised how I spent $65 for: - Pickle Appetizer Platter - 2 Burgers with 3 toppings each. - 2 Drinks ..mind boggling really.
