The burgers are great. Their gluten free bun is top rate. The people are efficient and extremely pleasant.

Was in ridgefield for an interview which unfortunately didn't go as well as I hoped. went to a very bad coping mechanism and decided to try out this burger joint a good couple hours away from home. The location design and layout are pretty good, there is a pretty big emphasis on the bar which would make sense in a bar and grill, burger bar, or a pub but didn't focus on that as much. staff knew the menu pretty well and were able to recommend items for me to try out. Ended up getting a brisket burger with beef, which was a bit expensive but as long as the brisket was good wasn't too concerned about it. the burger itself was disappointing, the beef was a grocery shop ground beef patty with no seasoning. the paprika mayo was bland and the 3 slices of brisket were overcooked and were lacking any real flavor. will say the fried pickles were pretty good, but on the same note there was no whole pickles either to either buy or offer as a pallet refresher. overall I wasn't happy going in, and wasn't very happy coming out either. given that the reviews here place emphasis on the beer selection then I would say treat this place as a bar and grill. it's kinda like TGIFridays or wood 'n tap, expensive pre-made food but you really go there to hang out with friends. go in with that mindset and you will probably have a good experience, go just for the food though and you will just leave apathetic. (to the owner of Bareburger: I can emphasize about wanting to keep bold flavors from overwhelming subtle or gamy meats. however since you offer different types of patties for all your burger options, you need to make sure that the flavors are there to begin with before worrying about overwhelming. if you want to be known for your food; ditch the store-bought crud, get a grinder, have one of the cooks grind up some meat every couple of days or daily, cut and soak your fries and onion rings, use that panko batter for your onion rings, brine up some cucumbers, and before you throw a patty on the grill make sure it at least has some salt on it. also in the meantime, fire up hulu or on demand if you got comcast and watch a couple episodes of restaurant impossible or gordon's kitchen nightmares. they are absolute junk shows but might serve as a wake up call to the food situation.) read more

The food was pretty good. Waffle fries came out late and were cold but I am overall satisfied with the outcome. When they put "share" on the menu for the chicken fingers, they really meant it. I could not finish those things to save my life! I should add that everything was fresh and authentic. Would definitely try again if I'm in the area! read more

Stumbled upon this place while looking for somewhere with vegan options. Wanted take-out bit decided to dine in since it was empty. My carnivorous son loved his American burger, although it accidentally had jalapenos and he said the bun fell apart too easily. He also said the organic root beer was some of the best he has had. Both fries and sweet potato fries were excellent, as was their homemade "wham bam" sauce. My Impossible burger with vegan garlic aioli was excellent. My son also loved the s'mores dessert. Busy and distracted I didn't get to peruse the menu as well but loved the fact that they were organic, grass fed and creative. How cool is it to have a real variety on your meAts? Duck! Turkey! Bison! Beef! Etc! You can order their specials or create your own. I heard the fries are good but I ordered the SoCal burger which had aged cheddar on turkey with guac and sprouts. Finally got myself to a Bareburger. I wasn't blown away, but we had a nice meal with the kids in that quiet early-bird space before the dinner rush. The service was super friendly, the space has an on-trend rustic vibe and I really liked whatever kind of sweet and spicy ketchup creation they served with our order of fries. I had the California BLT and it didn't go unnoticed that the grilled chicken was in a totally different league than your usual supermarket poultry. Really tasty. The only thing that left me like "???" was the Sprout & Shroom. This is the very first thing you see on the menu - under the "Crops" section, which piqued my interest in general. Not sure what I was expecting, but a crock packed with a brownish slaw-kraut hybrid with fried mushrooms on top was a miss for me. Brownish slaw-kraut hybrid. No green, no crunch - not sure what kind of crop this is supposed to be. Unless this was an old batch and they ran out of the usual serving bowls, I definitely don't think this should be the first thing on the menu. Sprout & Shrooms aside, I'll look forward to going back. First time eating a Bison burger. The Paul Bunyan, medium rare. Delicious! Added the Hudson salad. Also yummy! Top it off with Classic Lemonade. Food was perfect serving size. Came out quick and correct. Our server, Stephen was competent and very friendly. We ordered food to go, including pickles. When we got home, we saw we were charged for the pickles but they weren't in the bag. When we called, they had already noticed the error and credited our card!! Excellent food and service. I've heard only good things about Bareburger so I had high expectations....and they were met! We went for a late lunch. Our Server, Kristen was awesome. She was helpful with the menu and extremely pleasant....needless to say service was great. We ordered macho fries with both mixed sweet potatoes fries and regular fries...delicious! ..it was so difficult for me to decide which burger to get that I went old school and I got the standard burger. ..with cheese and carameized onions...It was cooked perfectly and just melted in my mouth. My BF got the buckaroo which is beef and brisket...mushrooms, and cheese...I had to try it...so good that I'm going to return just to get the Buckaroo burger...definitely coming back...as far as price, burgers range from $10 to $12. .. The menu has many salads to choose from and appetizers and desserts..It's going to take several visits for me to try a little of this and that and I look forward to it. read more

This is the third time I've eaten at Bareburger, and the last. I went in with some friends (5 people total); we ordered several appetizers, our entrees, and drinks. Our server entered our order right there at the table with a handheld device, and disappeared. The restaurant was fairly full, but not packed; no one waiting, a few empty tables. And we waited. And waited. About 20 minutes later, our drinks arrived. And we waited. And waited. About 30 minutes after our drinks, our entrees arrived. Hmm. Our server was ignoring us; we'd been wanting water (which never arrived), and at that point a refill on drinks. We were also curious as to what had happened with our appetizers. Our server finally deigned to pay attention to us, told us he'd find out what happened, and disappeared again. Halfway through our entrees, our appetizers appeared - brought over by the manager, and one of the runners, because the server was still ignoring us. The appetizers were stone cold. We sent them back with a request to have them re-heated - not unreasonable. 15 minutes later, they reappeared - still stone cold. We decided to just eat them because, honestly, we didn't expect the situation to change. All told, we were there over two hours - mostly waiting for our food. The food - when it actually arrived - was quite good. However, the service was appalling. I don't ask for much, when it comes to dining out; I used to work in the restaurant industry (back-of-house), and know exactly how crazy the kitchen can get. I do expect, however, that the service is reasonably competent. The icing on the cake was when we walked out of the restuarant, just behind a large group of people... turns out that the group was the owner and family. The owner's wife overheard our comments about "worst service ever", and immediately started to apologize. The owner asked if we'd told the manager of the restaurant, and then turned around and walked away. Lovely. I will not be dining there again, nor will I recommend it to anyone. read more

I have been to this Ridgefield location a few times and never had a horrible experience - last time in there were some glitches though; my side order came out as an appetizer and my appetizer came out after our meals. I had seen this place many times as a passed through Ridgefield. It always caught my eye because I have a fondness for burgers. So I decided to stop in one day and order to-go. I spoke to the manager as I unintentionally arrived just after they opened around 11:30am. Seasonally they offer Ostrich Burgers which I found to be an amazing, very uncommon option (somewhat expensive at $17 but it is Ostrich). I opted for the Blue Elk ($13) with sweet potato fries which was ... an Elk burger. Let me tell you. Absolutely delicious. One of my favorite burgers. Loved the quality and the ingredients tasted very fresh. I'd definitely list this place as a must if you are at all curious, love burgers or want to try something a little different. My family and I have eaten here 3 times now. 1 in the restaurant and 2 times we've done pickup. On all 3 occasions they have failed to cook meat to specified temp. The only saving grace is the onion rings and phenomenal mustard. And enormous beers! We first went ages ago at upper west side manhattan, burgers were giant, fries were large and when you ordered french fries they would come 3 different amazing sauces. After we moved to CT we saw no sauces with fries we were like "oh well", fine, the rest of it was still great until this week. Me and my husband ordered regular burgers, our son ordered burger in lettuce, I should have taken a picture, our sons burger came with half a lettuce slice under the burger - yes that's right, half of a lettuce leaf. I asked our waiter to please wrap at least some veggies leaf, she huffed and puffed but done. I was trying to see my meat pattie on my burger, but it was like a joke I couldn't see it, it was paper thin almost nothing in it, when i was ordering my burger she asked which kind of sauce I want inside my burger. Later I saw they even extra charged for that - ok thats fine too, but looking at the fries drew the line :) They put them in a large tall container, with paper and fries coming out the top, you would think the fries go all the way to the bottom, but no! The paper went not even halfway down the container and then the fries stopped, are they think we are really that stupid? Wow, it is just a potato not even expensive! Let's start at the most important place - the beer. They have $9 35 oz drafts. $9. For 35 oz. Good luck finding that anywhere else in Connecticut, especially in the FC. Granted, the selection isn't huge, but they have a choice for everyone. Starting a meal that way was awesome. We went on a Sunday afternoon, which was a perfect time to go. We did not have to wait to be seated, so bonus there. After we ordered our very large beers, it was on to the burgers. You can order one off the menu or you can build your own. They have such a variety of toppings and buns that there is probably something for everyone. And for the more adventurous people in your group, they also have different meats that you can choose from, outside of the normal beef burger. You can have ostrich, lamb, bison, elk, etc. I stuck with the beef burger, but everyone that ordered the ostrich burger said it was amazing. They also will recommend burger and meat pairings on the menu, which is helpful. Do you have to order fries or things on the side? Yes, you do. But that's not out of the ordinary for places like this. The pickles are a nice treat, if you're into that sort of thing. Overall, a REALLY reasonably priced meal for 4 people. After hearing such great things about this place from my son in NYC, I finally tried one its outpost in Ridgefield. It's marketing hook...organic fare and various types of burger material...is fairly unique. Unfortunately much of the experience was disappointing. The best part: A fantastic selection of beers. The rest: The service on a fairly unbusy Sunday afternoon was spotty and slow, but friendly. The menu is quite large and the various pre-determined selections OR build it yourself took a little while to get through. As a burger freak, I kept it simple this first time, ordering I a conventional beef hamburger, medium-rare, on a brioche with grilled onions and cheddar, and the combo onion rings and french fries (small order.) The burger was cooked okay....a little too well done for medium rare, but acceptable. It was very good, but frankly not out of this world - just another good burger. The fries were very good, though I think 5 Guys fries are a little better. The onion rings were a disaster. They tasted pre-made (read frozen), which would surprise me for a place like this. It was too heavy, and the highly seasoned (but not spicy) batter did not complement the sweetness of the onions. Without belaboring the point, it's too expensive given the quality of the food. Worth a try. Big menu. Maybe you'll have a better experience than I did, but I don't think I'd go back. The Hideaway in Ridgefield is light years better and more consistent. read more

Meh. This place has me confused. Is it a high-end burger bar like the menu items and prices suggest, or a disinterested bar and grill with aspirations of mediocrity? Food was quality, but not $18 for burger and fries kind of quality. Service was disaffected teens trying to figure out how to order on their tablet and the soothing ambiance of Cartoon Network. Hopping busy on a Saturday night. We arrived, family of 4, around 6:30pm. No reservations, it's first come first serve. We were seated in 15 minutes. Staff was under control, enthusiastic and smiling. Our waiter was top notch. This place was packed with 10-15 deep waiting! Still, the vibe was positive. Portion sizes were perfect, not too much, not too little and the quality was top notch. We're all vegetarians and had 2 bean burgers and 2 sweet potato and wild rice burger. Both were outstanding with custom fixings! Equally impressive was that our orders were all accurate. There are as many as 5-20 different options per burger. All came out as ordered. Though both burgers were outstanding you have to try the sweet potato and wild rice...regardless if you eat/don't eat meat. It's out of this world. Our bill came to $63 with tip. No alcohol. For only being open 3 days I give them high marks. They were slammed, but the food was still perfectly done. For the first visit (takeout) we went with the Original Bareburger, beef on multigrain, and the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich on Brioche with the Onion Rings. Couldn't have been happier with the flavor of everything and the prices were reasonable given the quality. All of the meats are Organic, grass fed, and free range. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. If not for a mistake in the order which they quickly corrected (but didn't think to keep then other food warm while they did) it probably would have been 5 stars. It was day 3, it happens. We'll be back. The only question is if the Elk, Bison, it Quinoa burger is next. read more
