That said, I wouldn't try to come here when there's a big event going on the convention center because it's right across the street. The burgers are really, really good. Like, really good. That's the only reason I'd come back. The "sides" portion was really small, service felt like I was inconveniencing them, and the building felt kinda weird. PROS: -Their burgers are really, really good. Juicy, moist, and perfectly cooked. Absolutely love the burgers here, and this is really their most redeeming feature. Their burgers are really good. -I love the "Build Your Own" option too. They have enough cheese and topping options that you could create some really weird (but cool) creations. -I love their focus on organic options. Their ability to swap out most of their meat (and even the dedicated space for allergen requests) for different options can make this a place where a large group of varying food needs can all still get together. -I love that they have the calorie count on their menus. This can be really helpful for choosing exactly how much burger you want to put into your body. The "Create Your Own" can really help with that too; simply leave out some of the biggest calorie loads to create something that works within your food budget. CONS: -Service was really off. I'm hoping it's just a bad day for someone and not a standard for here. She seemed really annoyed that we were there. When I "built my own burger" and stated I wanted mayo and ketchup on it (which is part of the sauces right on their menu), she told me there was ketchup on the table and she wasn't going to make the chef put it on there. When asked for the beer list, she sighed and pulled up the list then quickly rattled off a bunch of names. When asked for further details about them, she simply said "I don't know" and stared at us. -The burgers were delicious and just the right size. The "sides" (which you have to pay for, separately, from the burgers) were really really small. Our side of fries probably had about 15 fries in it. As the fries are the cheap part, wholesale cost-wise, this seems kinda weird. When we've gone to other burger bar places that have similar "pay separately" designs, the fries portions are much larger. -It just wasn't the place I was expecting from the online branding. I know that's a weird complaint, but the online pictures really sold a different "brand" than the in-person experience. I was probably expecting either an upscale "burger bar" feel or a retro feel. At the least, I was expecting bright colors with the pink/yellow color scheme. The interior of the restaurant feels like it used to be someone's home with a staircase that's blocked off and tons of mahogany and wood floors. We came during a huge conference so the wait was probably longer than normal, although we were helped as soon as there was a free staff member. Our waitress, Salsabila, was outstanding. She was SO friendly, gave us recommendations on the menu without us having to ask, was super patient with us, noticed my boss had lost her voice and offered her a ginger ale ON HER! Because they didn't have hot water for her throat, she was so hospitable and brought a delicious house-made ginger ale! All their sodas are homemade. She also made sure to ask (before we even ordered) what our allergies were so she could note it and ensure the kitchen was careful. As a peanut-allergy girl, I appreciated this so much! When we were leaving, she offered to-go cups for our waters. She deserves a raise, she was phenomenal! The chocolate milkshake was top TIER. Will never order from here again. Ordered something I thought was GF and I checked the "gluten allergy" box. I got very sick for several days and thought I had the flu or something. It was only when I tried to order it again many weeks later that Bareburger called and told me that item can't be made GF and I realized that they glutened me before. I will never trust this restaurant again. It's hard enough to have Celiac and try to eat safely and Bareburger makes you think it's a safe place to eat. It's NOT. Staying at the Hampton Inn here in CBUS and this was a block over so we decided to try it out. It's got a nice vibe inside, probably the best part of the experience. The server was nice and the food was decent. Nothing stood out really, the bison burger was ok. If you're wanting an ice cold coke, they make their own zesty sodas here. They aren't bad. When it was time to go, waiting on the bill took what felt like an eternity. She finally came over and said she forgot. So that was great. Anyway, if you're staying near here it's worth a shot. DON'T GO HERE I placed a carryout order on their website. Upon arriving at the restaurant, I saw a sign that takeout orders needed to be picked up at a back counter. I walked through the restaurant towards the supposed pick-up area. The back counter is clearly doubling as a break room for staff, personal belongings strewn about, with a clear view of the dishwashing. Not very appealing or appetizing. I asked a staff member at the counter about picking-up a takeout order. She explained that someone would be with me in a "minute." I was clearly interrupting the tasks she was working on, and she was not impressed. I stood aside, waiting for a different employee to help me. Instead, employee - after employee walked by, ignoring me. Everyone working there seemed to be doing something other than helping a customer. After 15 minutes, a staff member finally asked me if I was waiting for a takeout order. I said yes, and told her my name. However, she clearly didn't check on my order - carrying on with whatever other tasks she was working on. After another 15 minutes, I was getting frustrated. I mean, 30 minutes to get any assistance? I went to the host stand hoping that someone would finally at least properly greet me, and maybe help me pick-up the order. Still, despite standing right at the host stand, no one bothered to stop and help me. I finally interrupted a nearby bartender mentioning that I had placed a takeout order, wasn't being helped, and at this point would prefer a refund. She gave me a forced, annoyed apology, further treating me as though I was a nuisance. She said a manager named Katrina would help me. Katrina, apparently the manager, I'm not sure because she didn't introduce herself, approached me at the host stand. She tried to give me the takeout order, but I refused. I explained I had been ignored for the last 30 minutes by dismissive staff who were too busy to assist customers, treating me as though I was an inconvenience. Katrina said she would process a refund at some point within 24 hours, unable to provide me with a receipt of the refund. This restaurant needs to start treating their carryout customers better. It's unacceptable to force customers to walk back into what is clearly being used as a staff break room, a messy one at that, and then treating them as though they are an annoyance - ignoring them for nearly 30 minutes. Don't go here. There are other restaurants in this neighborhood who would be happy to have your business. read more

I have been to the BareBurger in Clintonville before it became a Tee Jaye's Country Place in Clintonville, but the Short North location was the first BareBurger location in Columbus. I was very happy going to the BareBurger Short North. I had the Create my Own burger with double beef patties, cheddar cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, caramelized onions, honey mustard, and jalapeno BBQ sauce with a multigrain sesame seed bun. The Sweet Potato Fries was my side and the natural Diet Cola was delicious. My friend had the Veggie burger on a multigrain sesame seed bun with a salad. The service was great and he took great care of us especially on a cold day. I will have to have a milkshake when it gets warmer. The ambiance was a very bear themed because it is BareBurger. I vocally expressed my fear the sliders would be overdone, but she convinced me they would be perfectly cooked. Disaster. The first set of burgers they brought with the wrong toppings were absolutely incinerated. They remade the burgers with the correct toppings, but they were still well done instead of the medium we ordered. Dry enough that my daughter described them as crumbly. Sodas with real sugar are always the best, and this one did not disappoint. The ambiance of the restaurant is lively with plenty of comfortable seating.
