Now that I've had it, I can confidently say this place is shockingly, appallingly overpriced. The sweet potato fries were no different in portion size or taste than any other fast casual burger place's, yet they were $7. The turkey burger suffered from the same while also having an off-putting smell and after taste. I'm sure their beef and bison burgers are better because turkey burgers are harder to get right, but their inability to do so speaks to the quality of this place relative to the price. This was the last place i had a meal at while on a business trip to Columbus. Myself, three other coworkers and my boss came to Bareburger just to eat and hang out one more time. Its just across the street from the Greater Columbus Convention Center, so it was convenient for us to come. We all went in and were immediately sat at a table. The place has comfortable seating and has a nice vibe to it. They sell T-shirts of their restaurants which had a cow on it and it proudly said, I love grass. We all thought that was amusing. There was only one other group of three people at the restaurant, which we thought was perfect. My boss, myself and one of my coworkers had a meeting we needed to call into that anyone in a leadership position in the department for the company I work for was expected to attend. That meeting was scheduled for about an hour and a half from when we sat down. We planned to eat and the get in our vehicles to drive home or in my bosses case drive to the airport and call while ok the road. That was the plan anyway. We all ordered drinks and food. I ordered some all natural soda... tasted the same as any soda in reality. I ordered a fried chicken sandwich with cheese, bacon and hot honey. None of us ordered anything crazy.. just burgers and chicken sandwiches. Over an hour for us to get the food. Way too long! This is supposed to be lunch hour! This made me rush to eat as I had to make my way back to the hotel, get my bag from concierge, then walk to the parking garage and the car. So i had to eat in a real hurry. This is the second location in the city that I've been to. My friend chose this for dinner on Sunday evening around 7. It was hard to find parking since there were events happening at the convention center downtown. It wasn't busy in here, but they were way understaffed. The took a while to seat us as they didn't have enough hands to clean tables and take orders. We ordered drinks which the staff almost forgot about. We weren't at any rush though. My friend got a vegan mint milkshake which tasted so fresh! It had pieces of mint in it. I got the mai tai. It was refreshing! My other friend got the Cheetah beer from Rheingeist. My friend got the fried chicken sandwich. They forgot to put the greens on there... it was very well flavored and had a fantastic crunch though! My other friend and I both built our own. I got a beef patty with bacon, sprouts, spinach, tomato, avocado, and aged cheddar. I also got sriracha mayo on it. It was good but not spectacular. The flavors were a bit underwhelming. My other friend got a vegetarian burger option. She got a sweet potato patty with spinach, vegan cheese, and tomato. She loved it! The meals don't come with sides so we got ourselves fries to share. It was a lot between three of us and we couldn't finish. We had two sauces: special sauce and the spice 7 ketchup. Both delicious! What I like about Bareburger is that the food tastes really fresh and it's organic. Prices are a little high but it's worth your money. I would recommend building your own burger. You can create whatever you want and I honestly like what I get this way rather than what's already created on the menu. Also, they have gluten free options. And you can go vegetarian if that's your way of life. Service was fantastic though! I would have gone simpler on the salad but did notice a basic house salad. I had never seen a Hudson salad before and it was a hit with me. The egg yolk added richness I had never seen before. The buttermilk fried chicken patty was very good, crispy crust and moist inside. Bareburger's fare is more upscale and prices reflect this. I may have Matt Stonie-ed through this place to avoid being late for a concert after wasting too much time and money parking, but this lil speed eater is still impressed. First off, let me advise you to walk. Also, bring a mask, because they're mandatory. The hostess was kind enough to give my forgetful mate one. Other covid precautions include a QR code menu, which you can access under their free wifi. It includes calorie counts, and a section to build your own burger. This was the path I chose. A bottle of water and cups got brought over, and our chill and friendly waiter took our order over the din of the Bobs, Ross and old school Barker. I hardly had time to absorb all the brilliant decor before the food returned. For a Saturday night, this place sure knew how to rush an order. Specifically speaking time here, as the food itself seemed anything but. My mate had gotten a side of fries. The table provided homemade(?) ketchup with a pronounced hit of vinegar and sweetness. The stone ground mustard was what he described as a "robust, in your face flavor bomb." I didn't try it myself as I snatched a firm, natural cut fry from the basket. I usually like them salty, and these weren't, but it worked in their favor. He had also ordered the all American burger medium rare. To his relief, it was still juicy and leaking, just the way he likes. It was a fair portion on a perfectly toasted bun. It wasn't anything crazy, though when you're rushing past thrills to meet a time crunch, you can rest assured you aren't settling for alright. You're getting good. We both agreed that the veggies were snappy fresh. Like did they just get my lettuce, tomato, onion out of a secret back garden fresh. I also added mushrooms to my build a burger, an upcharge that definitely paid off. As a pickle snob, do not take the following sentence lightly. Those sandwich pickles were the best I've had in years. Sorry grandma, not raining on your legacy, but they're thick and crisp, and I'd say I found your replacement if I wasn't so far from home. The bun was plump. I had to unhinge my jaw to wrap around this sandwich. Yeah, getting it on a lettuce bed would have helped thin it down. Thing is, if you're making the best fish sandwich, you need two things. Bread and fish. Or not, because apparently it's fake fish, and somehow tastes real. I am very disappointed at the professionalism of the management. Today 5/23/2024 the manager who refused to give up his name was shouting and screaming at me bc I ask him for an order to pick up. He literally belittled me and then proceeded to kick me out from "his restaurant ". He apparently was mad at the staff members but took it upon me as I was his punching bag. If I could give it less then a star I would. Nobody deserves to be disrespected in such a way. Even other staff members and other customers apologized on his behalf. This was my first visit and last, the only reason I gave two stars was the onion rings were good, the bad is there were only 6 rings not enough I feel for 7 bucks, I would have expected a lot more than 6 rings. The food was so so, burgers tasted like tough frozen food patties and the chicken wings, don't even bother with them, they were horrid and 13 dollars for 6 overcooked and wimpy looking wings is outrageous. I was told they were full wings not half's, but even if that were true they still are not worth it. Don't bother with this place and go next door to a better service filled environment and higher quality of food. Late late lunch on a warm September Friday! Skipped breakfast too, so really needed a quick fill-up! Boarded over for a great burger. I haven't been in since pre-COVID so it was great to be back here. You'll notice right away the old feeling about the interior - much of the original architectural pieces are intact including the turn of the century columns and tin ceiling which is so cool! Prior to Bearburger, this was the site of Yankee Trader, a giant multi-story, long time novelty & party supply store. Its great that the space was repurposed. The natural wood wall panels and animal related design elements give it a hip vibe. Staff are super friendly and easy to talk with & not just about the food. Really do make you feel at home. I had the American Burger & Sweet Fries - the fries are fantastic. There are quite a few non-meat options available which is good for those who want to go that direction. Overall plenty of burger choices on the menu. The food smells fantastic & aromatic but the restaurant air remains fresh and clear. The restaurant is nice and clean too from what I saw. Returned Saturday for the Bison Burger and Onion Rings. Both meals were excellent. The Supreme was huge so make sure you are hungry. I added the BBQ sauce. The Bison Burger was very good as well. The food was served cold and they charged for the sauce that used to be marshmallow sauce with the sweet potato fries, but now they don't have the marshmallow sauce and charge for any sauce you do add on in a very small portion. They also operate a ghost kitchen out of this restaurant our server divulged to us which I am very much against. On top of our food being cold, it just wasn't good food and took a very long time to come out. I painfully parted with $21.64 for the SoCal burger (added $1 for onion ring combo) with a 65-cent side of sticky sauce and a 16oz Cococado shake. Out of the six or so onion rings that I got, only one was properly cooked and gave me reassurance that the other five were simply so woefully overcooked that they hurt my teeth to try and chew and were definitely more aptly called "bread rings" which happened to have a whisper of onion. The one not overcooked ring was soft and tasted like an onion ring. The cococado shake was like a creamy version of a coconut limeade which was unique and delicious. I'd never pay $8 for this shake again as it is entirely too expensive for the product just as the burger was. I naively ordered the side of "sticky sauce" thinking it'd be some sort of delicious savory burger condiment. There is no description on the website so you all should know it is pure maple syrup! Yikes. My SoCal burger was ordered rare using the online option. It came entirely overdone and dry. For $11 I am so sad that what would have been a great combo given the nice cheese, guac, and pickled onions it was paired with ended up inedible. I was so disappointed in the overcooked nature of the combo that for the first time in my life I called and politely explained what had happened to Kristen at the restaurant. I complimented the really great shake but described how my order turned out poorly. To my surprise she discussed with her manager who will be issuing me a refund for the burger combo. I don't ever desire to seek money back for food I got but this really wasn't enjoyable at all. I hope to try Bareburger again and I'm sure I'll be pleased with the outcome next time. Went on a very crowded Saturday night and they were 2/3rds full - There was a convention across the street. It took a while to get seated because they were short staffed, and I even asked if I could sit at the bar. "No," the bartender said, because he clearly did not want to have to deal with taking our orders there. We were finally seated and the service was just OK. The problems came when I paid. The device the server used started out at 18% tip and I did not think that was appropriate for the level of service we got (we ran out of water and while the food was good, the server barely paid attention to us). I set it to a custom 15% and he was clearly ticked off at us. Additionally when I got home I saw they charge $5 for each of our beers when the menu listed it as $4. If I hadn't added my own vegan cheese though, it would have been all ketchup and patty. The impossible patty smelled and tasted fantastic (my mouth was watering the entire car ride home). However, there were probably only 3 leaves of baby kale (already small), and one of them was yellow and clearly not fresh. They also really skimped on fresh tomato. This was our first visit here and it was awesome! Our waitress was super nice and very attentive to our table. Even though the Arnold was canceled to spectators it was still pretty busy in this area. Each table was full but we still got our food quickly and it was nice and fresh. The sweet chicken sandwich was huge and the flavor was spot on. It a had a plum sauce on top and the bun was nicely toasted. The onion rings were some of the best I've had with a nice ratio of coating to onion. Don't forget to ask for some of their custom sauces! We tried the habanero mayo, Thai ketchup, and the special sauce. Each one was unique but I would have to recommend the mayo for the most unique flavor. Both were very flavorful - we enjoyed them! We also had their fundido fries which I did not like at all. They were a tad expensive for a side of fries and they did not taste that great. The consistency was a bit weird and the sauce was a bit strong (not to mention made them weirdly soggy) in my opinion. I ended up ordering the Guadalupe Burger and it was exactly what I was hoping for. After a long weekend at Ohayocon eating a lot of junk it was extremely refreshing to eat some both visually appealing and packed FULL OF VEGGIES. I have to say it was honestly one of the better veggie burgers I have had in Ohio since moving here 3 years ago from NY. The patty didn't crumble apart within the first bite and the taste was spot on fantastic. And that sprout bun just yum. The meal was $16, about twice as much it's worth. Because it cost so much, it would never meet the expectations. It came with a small dried up quinoa patty between a huge bun. Bland burger with no seasoning. The only free toppings were ketchup and mustard. Everything else had a surcharge of 10 to 20 cents. The vegan dessert was a tiny carrot cake which looks like it was made in a commercial factory. A piece of shit meal was accompanied by piece of shit service. There was no one to greet us when we came in, and when someone finally showed up they started with the hipster schtick. It got really annoying because we just wanted to fucking get the menu already. The service was really slow for a couple of mediocre burgers. I would not recommend Bareburger. It's way overpriced and the food is not any better than fast food.
