I really wasn't all that impressed. The service was satisfactory but nothing that would make me get all warm and fuzzy and the burgers themselves were just...well, burgers and none too cheap either! I was disappointed that the sliders were just as they were - beef, bison, lamb, etc. and that you couldn't mix and match. That would be a great idea to have BB especially for someone who would like to sample your wares to decide what future burger they'd like. Pleasantly surprised how much I like, no, LOVE this place. It has become a definite go-to place every week for us. Their menu has just changed and though it was great before, now it is fantastic!! I'm trying to eat clean and am wheat-free these days so this is the perfect place to go if you're in the mood for some great quality food that's tasty and affordable with a good vibe. It's also a great place for people who have different dietary restrictions. My partner is a vegetarian and has plenty of options. I believe they have something crazy like four veggie burger options. Unheard of, delicious and super welcome for a change! Celiac's are out of luck though as they have wheat in the kitchen so can't accommodate. They have a new collard wrap option that you can have with your burgers and it's gluten-free, giving me some extra-healthy greens, and leaves me feeling great afterwards. AND it's delicious with the wiki-wiki (wild boar) burger with a few modifications. It comes with wild boar, gouda, duck bacon and pineapple. I got it without the gouda and it was still delicious. With the collard wrap it came out skewered. Nice presentation points! I've now tried a few of them burgers out and it's still my favorite combination. The pickles are also delicious. Check my check in! I enjoyed the Wiki Wiki burger with sweet fries and the limeade. This was a spectacular lunch. The Wiki Wiki burger is easily one of the top five burgers I've ever eaten. Boar meat, duck pacing, pineapple relish it just got better and better. The sweet fries and dipping sauces were a fantastic compliment to an awesome burger. The service was just as good. Shay, my server was personable and very knowledgeable as well as Deborah who greeted me and check on my meal. I would (will) come back here many times to enjoy the food and the folks. We then ordered our food. It took 45 minutes to get our food. The two of us that ordered chicken agreed that it was very dry. I've heard a lot of hype about this place and for me unfortunately things did not work out. We arrived at 8PM on a Saturday with a party of 3 and it was a full house. Since we were given a reasonable estimated 20 minute wait, we decided to give this place a try. The decor of the restaurant is very "hipster" and trendy; you'd definitely fit in if you had a nose ring, a beard, and wore a flannel. Of course per the name "Bareburger" there were a lot of bear decorations; they get an A+ on that. As for the other aspects of the restaurant however, their performance was severely lacking. Strike 1: The 20 minute wait stretched out to an hour wait. I noticed that their staff in general was extremely disorganized. Even their hostess had to bus for the them and even then, they were falling behind. During the 1 hour duration, about 5 other parties came and left when they were told it was now a 40 minute wait. In my opinion, that is very bad business. In essence, they are putting a cap on the amount that they could make that night. I attribute their inefficiency to the rate at which food came out of the kitchen. Many parties who were already seated upon our arrival did not receive their food until about 30 minutes in. Strike 2: When we were finally seated 1 hour later, it took about 15 minutes for them to even take our order. Despite my waving my arms around, no one saw me. While we waited, our waitress hastily dropped off some water and said she'd be right back. However, she did not come back. By then, I was in hangry mode and ended up waving down another waiter from a different section and had him take our order. We ordered 3 burgers along with 3 sides of sweet potato fries. Strike 3 (You're out!): The food arrived approximately 30 minutes after we ordered and they were all cooked inconsistently. My boyfriend's elk burger was SUPER WELL DONE even though he asked for medium. Unwilling to wait another 30 minutes for them to redo the burger, he just ate it (we were STARVING; by then it was close to 9:40 PM). Although my bison burger was cooked well, it was bland. Aside from the sauce, there was no seasoning on the patty. As for the fries, they were cooked in 3 different variations. My boyfriend's sweet fries were underdone, while my other friend's sweet fries were overdone. Luckily for me, mine were just right; it was the only one that was cooked well and SEASONED. Not sure if it was an intentional Goldilocks and the three bears moment? I am not amused. Overall, this place is pretty hip and trendy if you're into that sort of stuff. However in my opinion the food is MEH, their staff is disorganized, and it was just not a good experience for me. I think the only time our waitress came around was when we were eating. I felt annoyed because I think it was a half assed attempt to earn tip. Bareburger is a great hip and trendy place in the Short North! Sooo many options of meat such as elk, wild boar, duck.. And more for your hearty burger. They also have black bean, sweet potato, and quinoa burgers for the vegetarians out there. They have a pretty good size menu with burger options already designed, or you can design your own! Fries, onion rings, salads, and a tasty looking brunch menu too!! I ordered the black bean burger with guacamole and tomato wrapped in collard greens.. Delish!! We went here for the first time recently after hearing a lot about it. Three of us went around lunch on a Friday (first day of Comfest). At first we were told there were no tables but space at the milkshake bar in the back. Don't sit here. It's sad and lonely and where they store booster seats. Don't believe them when they say it's just like sitting at the bar. We went back to the front of house and got a table immediately. So it all worked out? The decor is nice. I am personally getting a little sick of carafes of water on the table at places. And the glasses were very small. I get the idea, but it just means your water is always kinda not quite cold enough. But that's an issue exclusive to this place. The waitress asked if we'd been there before and then sat at the table to explain the menu to us. Someone may find this helpful, but I know how to order food so it was unnecessary for us. The beer list is decent enough but here's the problem with it. They list the breweries they have on rotating taps, I guess to avoid constantly reprinting the menu. But this means I don't know if the Four Strings is an IPA or a pale ale or a stout, etc. The waitress was able to tell us everything on tap but that just meant we had to ask her to repeat several things. Sometimes I just want an IPA and knowing only the name of the brewery doesn't help me order a beer. Okay, the burgers. My friends both got beef. I got wild boar on the bleu cheese/bacon burger (I forget the name). They said they recommend the boar medium or higher so I got medium. I like things on the rarer side personally. The burger was not medium. It was cooked and gray throughout with a nice crispy exterior. I would have definitely preferred it less done but I can't say it was bad. If I hadn't been able to see it while I was eating I'm not sure how much I would have noticed. But the burger had bleu cheese and sauces and bacon and mushrooms so it was very flavorful. On a more "plain" burger, the meat maybe wouldn't have tasted as good without a lot of other moist items with it? It was still better than most burgers I've had (though not as good as Flip Side) We ordered the onion rings and sweet potato fries to share (under the Snacks section of the menu as recommended by the waitress). The onion rings were a mess. The batter did not adhere to the onion at all and they just fell apart. They were tasty, but I'd never order them again if this is how they always are. The sweet potato fries were good. The four sauces that came with them were all very good. I'd like to try them again with regular fries. Overall, I would come here again if other people wanted to go. The menu has a lot of burger options I'd like to try. I didn't find it overly pricey compared to other Cbus restaurants for a meal of it's size. We did eat here for lunch, but then we had more of a lunch for dinner that evening. Yes I understand locality and what not, but when the fries and ranch both taste bad, there comes a time for reflection. I've had a better burger from Red Robin that COMES WITH FRIES!!!! I cant even begin to express how thrilled I am to see this Brooklyn/NYC/ Tri-State gem thriving in the Columbus food scene. I just recently moved back to Columbus from Brooklyn and seeing this here when I arrived made me that much more excited to be back! Now, on to the experience! MY Boyfriend and I dined here on a Friday night around 6 pm and it was great! Plenty of parking since the street cleaning just ended and the restaurant was only somewhat busy. It got busier towards the end of our meal, so I'd recommend getting there around 6! The waitress, Erica was fantastic! She was funny, knowledgeable and polite! Having great service really makes for the best overall experience. Thank you Erica! We both tried Bison burgers, I got the Country Bacon and he got one of the ones with Avocado and we both shared the fries and rings. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted great. Not to mention, this restaurant serves Sir Kensington's Ketchup! If you haven't tried it, please do. It's all natural (like most of the other ingredients here) and very high quality. I loved Bareburger's focus on local and supporting small business, it's great to see restaurants taking on and running with that focus. Burgers we $10-15 here depending on the type of meat you get. I ate here a few times. Each time my experience was the same: good food, painfully slow service. Big positive here is Vegetarian and Gluten Free options! The place was virtually empty every time I ate there yet the waiting time exceeded any norms. Once I even had both the waiter and the manager correct me on how long I've been waiting for my food: I told them it's been at least 30min and they HAD to state that it was only 20min. Arguing with a client who is already aggravated is not the smartest thing guys... Just bring out the food. Fast! Good service speaks for itself, but from the previous reviews I see it has been a problem at this place. Little that you know, on my last visit the food came out cold LOL I ordered one of the heartier salads with an egg and patty on top, both were cold. Not to mention that the cheese which was supposed to be melted on top of the patty came in sprinkled on the salad haha I do have to say that the food has always tasted good, each time I ate there. Their salads have some interesting flavors. I am also very glad they offer GF burger buns. Yet it's a big problem if you're unable to serve food at a reasonable time. The place hasn't been packed when I was there, so I'm worried what it's like when it's full. Obviously there's either staffing issues or lack of proper management. A lot of places have great burgers, so I find it hard to pay this much for one. It is nice, I can build my own burger, but all good things come w a cost. I got a turkey burger with lettuce, tomato and avocado. Tons of avocado on it, but not $2.25 worth. $16 ( not including tip) for my burger, a side of fries ( enough for 2) and a water is steep in my opinion. But.... The company pays so I'll be back! The idea of fresh hormone free meat is something I love. It is unfortunate that the burgers are not very good. I have been here twice and wish that I liked it more given I live in the same building. I got the boar burger with duck bacon and the bison burger with country bacon. Both burgers were thin and over cooked. Their was not any sign of pink what so ever. Both burgers had fatty/stringy bacon substitutes on them. I absolutely hate when you take a bite of a burger and you can't get a clean bite and have to decide to either let go of whatever's in your mouth or pull the rest of the piece off the burger. This happened with both the country bacon and the duck bacon. It costs around $16.74 for a burger and sides. Too much for overcooked gristle in my opinion. I did enjoy the sauces they offer, although you pay fifty cents per dab. A colleague and I had lunch at this restaurant twice while in the Columbus area for a convention. They offer a wide selection of burgers - everything ranging from grass fed beef to bison to wild boar to vegetarian options. They have a number of preconfigured burgers taking advantage of their extensive offerings for toppings and bun choices. Or if you feel like it you can access this wide array of possibilities to create your own customer burger. As great as the burgers were however the star of the show for me was the pickles. These come in three offerings: dill, spicy, and sweet. I have had both the dill and the spicy ones now and they are truly excellent. The menu indicates that they are made in house and they certainly should consider selling them at retail. Other options on the menu include salads and more traditional sides such as onion rings and french fries. They have two types of coleslaw on offer as well including a carrot wasabi one that looks extremely interesting for next time. Although I have not had a chance to try it they did have brunch menu as well with some selections that look interesting and enjoyable. read more

My only warning is to make absolutely sure that they have gluten free buns before you sit down. I came in late on a Sunday and had already ordered and started drinking a beer when they discovered there were no more GF buns left. It was late and I was really tired and hungry so you can imagine how that news hit me. They did the right thing and gave me a coupon to come back another time for a free burger. Walked here from our hotel a few doors down. We went on a Friday around 12:30pm, it wasn't crowded at all. It is in the old Yankee Trader location. I remember going to Yankee Trader when we lived here to get funky party decorations, it's a neat space. We were seated immediately at a table for 8 (there were 6 of us). Our server was at the table within a minute and asking if we'd been there before. We hadn't so he explained the concept and the menu. He brought water in carafe and glasses for everyone. My son ordered a peanut butter and chocolate shake. I ordered an unsweetened raspberry iced tea and a few people ordered local beer. The server said a portion of the profits for the beer goes to charity. I ordered a buttermilk buffalo chicken sandwich. When they brought it I thought it looked small...3 hours later I'm still full!! This brand new burger joint holds promise but today's lunch was a disappointment. I visited the new Bareburger in the Short North today for lunch with three colleagues. Wait staff were all very friendly, we were seated right away, and the service was good. After we ordered, it was approximately 20 minutes before our food arrived. This is very slow for lunch service. On arrival, the food looked very nice. My friends all complained of that the multigrain bun was dry, but my brioche bun was good. (Average, really, it's just a bun after all.) My Mediterranean with lamb had excellent flavor, but the meat was too small for the bun. The peppers, cucumbers, and onions were cut into pieces much too large, causing them to converge in great lumps that made for a very inconsistent and messy eating experience. The reclaimed materials make the dining area a very comfortable space. The noise level is just right for lunch, bustling but not excessively loud. My friends were not at all impressed, but I see a kernel of goodness that could become great if some of the disappointing details are attended to. We were waiting for a friend to join us. It took about 20 minutes of being there all together before being offered water. I feel water should be a given right after being seated. Who knows, maybe I'm wrong. On to the food. We ordered the crispy Brussel sprouts for an appetizer(only reason 2x stars) , my boyfriend ordered the el matador 12.95. I ordered the wiki wiki with pepper jack instead of Gouda and added guacamole 11.90 + guac price. Our friend ordered the chicken tenders and we all had fries to share 5.85. The Brussel sprouts were delicious. Probably our favorite part of the meal. But let's get real, I make Brussel sprouts a few times a month and they were no better than what I would have at home. Still delicious and a huge portion but it shouldn't of been the best part of the meal at a unique burger joint. The French fries were French fries. The burgers. The moment we'd been waiting for was such an underwhelming moment. Both sandwiches were so super bland. The sever said they'd be cooked to a medium level. They were both dry and over cooked. The toppings didn't help the burger either. The pineapple on mine was good, but the guacamole (an addiction of mine) on both was way over powered by the amount of red onion that was in it. The chicken tenders ( my other obsession) were so dark they almost appeared black, slightly dry on the inside as well. The burgers are good but a little pricey as they don't come with sides. A burger and fries can easily run you $15 but they do try and use a lot of high quality ingredients. The happy hour is great with 12 ounce draft beers running you $2.25 which includes some great local beers. The happy hour runs 3-7 Monday-Friday. I've always had nice service. I've been here twice now and aside from the high prices, I'm a fan. Both times I came for lunch, once on a weekday, once on a Saturday and we were seated immediately. The staff was friendly toward me and my 6 month-old, providing a booth as requested, space to park the stroller, and a high chair which I requested on the second visit. The first visit, the server was helpful in letting me know there was a changing table in the family restroom which is not near the other restrooms. I appreciated the accommodation. The food is great, though a tad pricey for what you're getting. I had the buttermilk buffalo chicken sandwich the first time and the "Southern Caviar" bison burger the second time. Meat is cooked perfectly (medium, unless you ask for it done differently), the sweet potato fries and onion rings are fantastic. A unique restaurant in Columbus for sure! If you've ever wanted to try elk, boar, or bison, this is the place for you! They also offer salads, sandwiches, yummy sides, and delicious drinks. It's a bit pricey and for some reason it costs a lot more to build your own burger than to just buy one of their preset ones - fortunately, they let you substitute things like type of cheese and type of bun for no extra cost, so I would just go with one of the listed burgers and make substitutions. The inside of the restaurant is spacious, with great mood lighting and creative decor. Service is great as well, but both times I've been here it's taken a long time (maybe 20-30 min) for our burgers to come out. In terms of food, here is what I've tried: - Blue elk burger (elk, blue cheese, bacon, onions, tomato fig jam): My burger was tasty but I've definitely had better elsewhere. The menu states that all burgers are cooked medium unless otherwise specified but mine came out pretty much well-done/dry (maybe it was the texture of the elk?). The bacon and tomato jam added some good flavor. At least I can say I've tried elk now! - Sweet potato fries: Great for sharing! Definitely enough fries to feed 4 people on the side. The fries are tasty enough by themselves but it also comes with yummy special sauce or ranch dipping sauce (preferred the ranch). - Banana foster milkshake: Hands down the best milkshake I've ever had! Each sip tastes like a bite of delicious bananas foster dessert, and it's not overly sweet. Even the small size is big enough to split between 2 people (about 1 glass each). I will be back for that bananas foster milkshake and probably try one of their regular beef burgers as well now that I've experimented with elk.
