I had lunch here recently and it was pretty delicious. I'm not a "organic and GMO free" nut like a lot of their customers. What got me in the door was the wild burger choices they had, such as boar, duck, elk, etc. So yes, everything is supposedly organic, and GMO free. Which obviously means higher prices. The interior of the restaurant is amazing, and the hostess was very friendly. Alex our waiter was a little TOO FRIENDLY. My girlfriend and I had sat on opposite sides of the booth and he sat down to take our order, but he was basically sitting on her because she was so close to the edge. She was very uncomfortable. Then he had asked a question and her reply was 69 and he made a sexual reference after she said that. He continued to be flirty the entire experience. It was quite rude and disrespectful. The food! Ok, so the food was delicious. The burgers are VERY SMALL. So don't expect a single burger to fill you up. I'd recommend getting two, or a burger and a large side. Drinks were also quite overpriced. Ordered a Moscow mule while waiting for our table, and it was good. The rest was all bad, unfortunately. Service was really, really slow, with our waitress only coming by about once every half hour. Even a simple Coke took forever to be delivered. Food was no good. Ordered the big bacon bleu burger, which had a tasty description. It came overcooked, dry as could be, with hardly any toppings. Definitely not worth $13. The red slaw on the side wasn't very good either. Just one-note and actually borderline gross. In the end, even with only a few tables and a full staff, we had to try and fail for a while before finally getting someone's attention to bring our checks. After we'd paid and signed, our absent waitress finally came by, clueless, and asked if we we're still doing alright. I just stared. No reason to go back to this place. Three hours was all the time I ever need to spend in this burger joint. I've had a great experience here and a mediocre one. My first dining experience was great. I came with friends after work and we split a bottle of wine, appetizers, and each got a burger. I got the vegan specialty burger and absolutely loved it. I knew I wanted to come back asap! My second experience was a celebratory dinner for me with my family. I had just passed the bar exam and I chose bareburger to go because of my first great experience. I ordered the same burger but it came out without the vegan cheese. And the waitress never informed me they were out of the cheese until I asked why it wasn't on my burger. Without the cheese, the burger wasn't nearly as good. I would have ordered a salad instead had I known that they would be out of cheese I could eat. The lack of communication was frustrating because I could have gotten a salad that I likely would have enjoyed if the waitress had known or told me that they were out of vegan cheese. Props to bareburger for offering vegan options, but they should do a better job of keeping the ingredients in stock. I heard back from a manager who apologized and promised to do a better job of keeping vegan items in stock, so hopefully it won't be a problem in the future. I got the fries and rings basket, and it was amazing, not to mention the sauces that were even better. I designed my own burger off of their menu, I got elk which I have never tried before. I love the Bareburger concept; I just wish the execution was a little better. My first visit to Bareburger was back in the Summer with a large group of co-workers. Food was inventive and delicious, but the service was slow and it took an inordinate amount of time to receive our meals. But it was a large group, and they had just recently opened, so we cut them some slack. Last week I had a hankering for some fried pickles, and I placed a take-out order online. My online order consisted of a Buffalo Chicken Sandwich, with a request to add blue cheese crumbles (added charge of $1.45, no big deal) and I asked to please have the Buttermilk Ranch that comes with the sandwich packed separately. And of course I got the spicy pickle chips on the side. Went and picked up my order, it was waiting for me when I arrived, I paid and went happily back to my office to eat my lunch. Once I opened the bag, however, I found no Blue Cheese Crumbles and no Buttermilk Ranch dressing (though all of my special "on the side" requests were clearly printed on my receipt.) Additionally, my side order of spicy pickle chips consisted of about 12 slices of dill pickles and a few hot peppers in a 3 oz portion cup. Not fried. For $2.55. (Apparently this was my mistake as they do have Cornmeal Crusted Pickle Spears and Chili Panko Crusted Pickle Chips listed on their appetizer menu, I made an assumption that pickle "chips" were fried and not pickle slices. However, I do feel they could communicate this better in their menu descriptions.) I was disappointed in my meal, but my experience wasn't tragic. So I used the online contact form at the Bareburger Columbus website to tell them about my experience. That was a week ago, and I've received no response. I honestly find this even more disappointing than my dry sandwich. I want to love Bareburger, but when a restaurant doesn't care enough to respond to my attempt to contact them, it makes me think they don't care about my poor experience or me as a customer. read more

Didn't have a great experience here. I like that the ingredients are well sourced, but the execution of the dishes was sub par. The prices are very high. I got the blue elk on brioche. My elk burger was overcooked and it was very small for a 13 dollar burger. If I pay that much for a burger, I expect it to be prepared properly. Fries were mediocre as well. A friend got the buffalo chicken, it was forgettable and also very small. They were also out of the ranch that came with it, so it was dry. I was in Columbus for work and stumbled into this place during as it was the closest place to our hotel and it was negative 10 outside so was not about to be picky. To our surprise the atmosphere inside was adorable, the food was great and they knew how to make a delicious Moscow mule (always a win for me). I had a design-your-own burger with the standard stuff and about 5 different sauces on the side. The sauces are really what make the burger shine. It adds an extra element that ketchup/mustard simply can't. The sides are all awesome. The sweet potato fries are good!! (and I don't even like them). The onion rings and fries are good too- all because of the dipping sauces. They have a decent local/craft beer selection as well. Don't expect to order Budweiser. Staying in Columbus for only a few days during a conference, my son (vegan) and I (vegetarian) ate here twice. We had a large group which they accommodated with no problem and very quickly. They even let me get a table for the whole group and didn't give me any trouble when it was a good half-hour before the rest of the group arrived. We were all able to find something we liked, and the build-a-burger makes it easy to have it your way. Food took a while to arrive, but it's made to order, after all, and we had plenty of entertainment watching the Halloween block party outside. The service was fantastic, friendly, and they were happy to do separate checks. I tried both the black bean patty and the quinoa patty and really liked the latter. It held it's shape and was crispy on the outside, holding it's own with a handful of toppings, sauces, and a sprouted bun. The kale caesar side salad was the bomb!! I would go just for that if this were available in my town. There were lots of choices of beer, and my companions who had tea (both hot and cold) enjoyed the high quality options offered. The second time we went I took the flourless chocolate cake to go, and ate it later. WOW. It was so decadent I had to eat half of it the next day. And, a burger joint is not my favorite kind of dining place, so this is only a three star restaurant for me (as in, I'll only go there if my friends want to go here). Organic burger goodness delivered!!! I wanted to try a new place that delivered in the area where I work and bareburger fit the bill so gave them a try. Their delivery is done through chownow so I ordered up and it took about an hour to arrive once the order was placed. I went with the buckaroo beef burger along with onion rings and fries. The onion rings were great, not too salty, tasty breading. The fries were also well done. Seasoned well, not overdone or underdone. The burger was medium which they say is their standard temperature unless you request otherwise. I usually do medium-well but did not mind medium at all. The toppings all worked well together, but they bacon was elastic and didn't separate clean when I took bites. Still a worthwhile burger, I will definitely try again for less common meat offering. read more

We tried Bareburger because our son HIGHLY recommended it. We went during their slow time. We were greeted right away, super friendly staff. Atmosphere was nice, like most hipster joints. We ordered an American cheeseburger with Bison meat and a Wham Bam Chicken sandwich with fries and rings. The food came out pretty quick. Everything tasted ok, not the best cheeseburger or chicken sandwich I've had. The burger was slightly over cooked for bison. Root beer was different. Glad to see they use sugar cane in their sodas. The big disappointment was the price. $50.00 for 2 sandwiches order of fries and 2 sodas (+tip). That's a bit steep for essentially 2 sandwich platters, in my opinion. I love Bareburger as much as the next person so of-course I stopped by the one downtown Columbus. It's conveniently located to the convention center and a number of hotels so it does get pretty busy. Compared to other locations that I've visited in NYC and in other cities, this one missed the mark. First thing is they have uploaded a picture of a promo for burgers and other food. When I inquired about it and showed the bartender, he informed me that it's no longer valid and was only for the really slow months. I personally think that it's the restaurant's responsibility to remove promo if it's no longer valid or they should honor it. Nonetheless, I went on and ordered my burger and fries to go and sat at the bar to wait on it. Yelp check in gets you a delicious ice cream sandwich so make sure you check in and show them. I sat at the bar for almost thirty minutes and when I asked the bartender about my order, turns out it had been sitting there already. I'm not even sure how long it was there before I noticed and asked if it was mine. Needless to say, I was disappointed since I love Bareburger so much. read more

This was probably the healthiest burger I've ever eaten. If you like options, then you better not regret saying that when you arrive. It's located in the short north, so expect there to be meter parking. The place has a nice cozy feeling, pretty spacious yet the booths are tall and close. The employees are great, they're eager to explain the menu to you since it may seem like a lot to take in. The main thing I noticed is their different choices for protein ranging from beef to wild bison, and other in betweens. But it's not just the protein, you also have a range of choices for breads too. I chose the Maow Wowie, the Hawaiian style one that comes with pineapple slices. It was delicious. The meat was cooked to my expectation and the pineapple added just the right touch. Solid experience overall. My burger was bison meat covered in guacamole, pico de gallo, and jalapenos. Nice size, not too filling or too skimpy. Perfectly medium rare. Not the best burger I've had, but very good. The sides were enjoyable. The onion rings are big and thick and wonderfully spiced. The french fries are thick and salty. I enjoyed both quite a bit. The sweet potato fries had a nice flavor but were a tad soggy. The sides came with four dipping sauces, and I'm a sucker for dipping sauces. The spicy mayo was excellent. The ginger curry ketchup was okay, but not great. Places get too cute with their ketchup. The barbecue sauce, if I'm not mistaken, is Kraft Thick n Spicy, which seemed odd because the other sauces seemed house-made. The fourth sauce was some sort of ranch, I think. It was pretty nondescript. The beer list was decent. Nothing amazing, but a good local selection. The cocktails sounded interesting, but I avoided them because they were on the pricey side. Service was friendly. Nothing noteworthy either good or bad. Really, price is my only real complaint. Two of us had two burgers, three sides, and one beer each and the bill was over $50. Everything was pretty high quality, so I understand that costs a premium, and surely rent's expensive in that area, but it seemed a bit much for burgers and fries and fairly average beers. If you come to Bareburger, you'll have a good meal, but I think you can have a similarly good meal elsewhere and save some money. read more

I debated 3 stars vs 4 stars and decided on 4. Four of us ate here on a Saturday night. Got seated in about 20 minutes. Service was Ok. They were out of something that another person in my party ordered. So he had to go with a different item. I got the southern caviar bison burger with onion rings and a shake. The burger and the onion rings tasted incredible. But I was really hungry and I simply didn't get enough food. I ended up finishing everyone else's fries. Yeah, I'm that guy. The shake was Ok. Banana/raspberry, I think. Nothing special. Yeah, it's a bit pricey here but it's organic. So that's Ok. My main complaint would be the size of the burgers. Just too small for someone that needs calories. But they do taste great. read more

We came in from out of town on vacation looking for a good burger. Based on the Yelp reviews, we came to Bareburger. I must say, the entire experience was anticlimactic. It took awhile, and a few hard stares, to get the attention of our waitress. We ordered drinks, margaritas and a strawberry lemonade. My margarita was a little sweet (too much orange liqueur), but doable. My friend sent there's back because it was too sweet for their liking, but they were nice enough to remake it. The strawberry lemonade was less than appetizing. It didn't taste like lemonade, but rather some form of syrupy mystery. I ordered the build your own burger and onion rings. Both were good. To top it off, we got the vegan carrot cake. Mind you, we aren't vegans. It had a super interesting, powdery consistency. This is a review edit: (see original review below) So I went back to Bareburger after a sincere apology offered by the owner in response to my previously negative experience. I went with a couple friends and had a genuinely good meal. My burger was good, the fries that we got as an appetizer were VERY good (though a bit expensive, lots of quality stuff in there though!). I would like to go back and explore more of the menu as they do have a lot of unique offerings as far as burgers go. Overall a much better experience and I suggest everyone to give them a try at least once. Original Review: Maybe it was me being "hangry", (and full-disclosure, I'm writing this from barleys next door) but we sat at our table that the host reluctantly seated us at for 15 minutes, a waiter dropped water off and said nothing (at all, literally) and walked past us about 5 times without saying a word to us... I reiterate, 15 minutes and not. one. single. word. I cannot remember the last time I left a restaurant before tonight. I really liked the atmosphere in this place, the decor is awesome. The service is very friendly, but there were some hiccups in the kitchen. First, they were out of a few things we wanted to order (the crunchy Brussels sprouts and duck burger) which was a little disappointing. Second, our food didn't come out at the same time at all, someone finished eating before anyone else started. I ended up getting the blue elk burger and scarfed it down fast, the fig jam on it was great, all the flavors went together perfectly and made it hard for me stop eating. Great ambience! There is evidence that Yankee Trader, a short north old time favorite costume and novelty shop once resided here. We ordered a fry and onion ring basket. The onion rings were amazing and are highly recommended! The fries were a little over cooked so we ordered another basket of just onion rings. The sauces were definitely a savory spin for the onion rings and fries. The ginger ketchup may surprise your appetite. The bison burger was a proportional size and cooked to my liking, medium rare. My teeth just sunk in. Though I did not order any adult beverages it seems that there was something for everyone. Not bad for a chain.
